Title: Clinton Card shop Cheshire stuff! Now with Pics! XD
Post by: Masamune on May 23, 2007, 06:37:34 PM
:!: I was at my job course yesterday morning and my mum phoned my mobile. She asked me "What's the biggest plushie you've ever seen?". After a small think I replied "The massive Stitch one at DLRP. Why?". And she said...

"There's one bigger than that...of CHESHIRE CAT. In Clinton's."

 I almost died. Without even telling my tutor, I went to meet mum outside of Clinton Cards. :D Joy of joys, Clinton's has released a full range of official Disney Cheshire Cat stuff! It's all so beautiful!

:P Needless to say, I bought most of it. :( Sadly the giant one was for display purposes only, but it may go on sale in the future for around £130. A lot yes, but seriously, this thing is MASSIVE. If it goes on sale, I'm having it.

:) But anyways, you're probably wondering by now why I'm making this thread in Merchandise rather than Blue Lagoon. The reason is because I want to make sure that I got all there is on offer. I want you guys to check your local Clinton's to make sure there's nothing there that I haven't bought already. If there is, I'll have to order it or something.

So, here's a list of everything I bought!

Large Cheshire plush for £40
Medium Cheshire plush (in plush handbag) for £20
Small Cheshire plush (in cardboard display thing) for £8
Plush Cheshire keyring for £5
Plush Cheshire tail keyring for £4

Also, there was 3 things I didn't buy, because all this money I've spent was meant to be my spending money for DLRP in 4 weeks.

Medium-Large Cheshire plush for £20
Medium Cheshire plush (exactly the same as the one in handbag, but without handbag) for £13
Plush Cheshire you stick on windows for - I can't remember

:D So, if you've seen anything in your local Clinton's that I haven't listed here, please tell me!

I've a mate who works in Clintons Masamune-I'll see if they have anything else in their shop :D

:D Thanks! :P Mine's the one in Manchester BTW.

:) The staff there told me that was everything, but you never know! The staff at The Disney Store said that the only Cheshire item available anywhere at that timwas the plush...then I went to The Trafford Centre soon after and they had a Cheshire plush pillow! So I just want a few people who've visited other Clinton's to put my mind at ease.

I've noticed a card shop in my local town has a card in the window for a new Disney Animals line of merchandise. It has Baloo, Dumbo and the Aristocats on the ad.

I haven't looked because I already have stacks of plushes. Would like some more Jungle Book ones, but I'm sure I'll get chance later in the year for them.

:) Our Clinton's got in a bunch of Dumbo stuff in at the same time as the Cheshire stuff. :P The range of Cheshire stuff is called "Catified", which I'm guessing is a pun on "Certified".

Hi Masamune-Right, the shop my mate works in is small, so she says they havent got all the merchandise. But she will let me know if they get anything different. :D

Post by: Masamune on May 28, 2007, 05:39:24 PM
:D Thanks tubbsy!

:) Both the Clinton's in Manchester City Centre are big, so hopefully I've seen all they have to offer. :P I'm still hoping for the giant one to go on sale.

 The GIANT Cheshire Cat plush I mentioned went on sale.

 It was £150.

 And I bought it.

:( I wouldn't have been able to afford it, but a friend of my mum's gave me £50 towards it, meaning I only had to pay £100. I already had £40 saved up, and I had £30 left from DLRP, and the other £30 I took from my Job Seeker's Allowance from last week. My mum went into town to pay for it today, and she's going to pick it up once she can arrange for one of her friends to bring it to our house. It's too big to be taking it on the bus.

 Still, £100 is a lot of money. I think I would've regretted it though if I didn't get it, as the giant one from the other Clinton's has sold already. I couldn't not get this one knowing that someone else in Manchester may like Cheshire more than me, because they bought the giant one already. :) We have batteries now, so as soon as the big one is home, I'll take pics for you guys.

*Remembers the giant Cheshire Cat i'd seen in Clintons window*    :o OMG, you actually bought on of those, for those of you that haven't seen it, it really is MASSIVE!!!
Title:
Post by: tubbsy on June 25, 2007, 05:31:17 PM
Yeah Masamune!

I would have loved to have seen you get it home on the bus though. Can you imagine the looks you would have got taking it home?

I can't wait to see picture! You love the Cheshire Cat more than I imagined! :P
Title:
Post by: Masamune on June 25, 2007, 08:37:09 PM
@ Butlin - I'm gonna sit him at the foot of my bed, as that's the only place in my room that he'll fit without getting in the way. :o Like Butlin says, it's huge. It's the size of a child basically.

@ tubbsy - :P I love Cheshire, but not to a point where I'd want to be seen with a giant version of him in public. He would have to have his own bus seat too.

@ RnRCj - 8) Mhm, this proves my fandom for sure. Apparently these giant ones are rare too, as only a few Clinton stores in the whole of Britain got them. :D I can't wait to get it home!

 He arrived yesterday afternoon. :P Just a note, he DOEs have ears. But they're quite floppy, which is why you can't see them very well in the pics. :D Isn't he great?

:) I'm gonna take a pic of all my Cheshire plushies together at some point, as I'm changing the sheets on my bed soon and all my plushies need to be thrown off it.

This must be the fullfilling of your dreams, isn't it?  :P
Title:
Post by: Masamune on June 27, 2007, 04:41:31 PM
 Yes, he's huge. :P And yes, it kind of is a dream come true. Then again, I never dreamed that anyone would make a Cheshire Cat plushie this big.

It was such a struggle getting him up the stairs.

@ Riebi - Thanks.

:D Does everyone think he was worth the money? My gran doesn't think he is.
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on June 28, 2007, 07:16:45 PM
Do you think he's worth the money?

That's the main thing.
Title:
Post by: Masamune on June 28, 2007, 10:19:32 PM
:P Yeah, of course I do. 150 quid is a big deal for someone on Job Seeker's Allowance, so I wouldn't have bought him if I didn't think he was worth it. It's only my gran who who doesn't think he's worth it.
Title:
Post by: RnRCj on June 30, 2007, 12:15:55 PM
That's massive! When you said it was big I didn't know you meant that big :P
Title:

Aaawww, you two look so happy together
Title:

Is it heavy?
Title:
Post by: Masamune on June 30, 2007, 06:05:43 PM
@ RnRCj - His tail is actually heavier than his body. He ways a lot all together, but most of that weight is in his tail. I don't know what's in it, but it's heavy.

@ Butlin - :P Lol, I can't help smiling at it everytime I go in my room.

That's the coolest Cheshire Cat I've ever seen and you're more than lucky that you have it. You know, I really like you for your totally crazy  addiction to the Cat. That's sooo cool.

@ Disneyana - :D Aww, thanks so much! *Hugs*

@ TowMater - :) Before I seen this one, the biggest plush I had ever seen was the huge Stitch one at DLRP. My Cheshire is bigger than that though.

@ swity - :o I agree. If I wouldn't have bought it and someone else did, I know I would've regretted it. :P And if this doesn't prove that I'm one of the biggest Cheshire fans ever, I don't know what will!

@ madame - I can't imagine how big this Cheshire would look to a child.

@ Dark - :P How much Belle stuff do you have? *Must have about 80 Cheshire things now* :D Hopefully 100. *Will count*

@ Fly - ;) Seeing if I can beat Prince's Belle collection is a good reason to update my list! *Will go do that now* Also, been buying a few things in the Disney Store sale recently. The Manchester Disney Store is moving to the Arndale Centre, so pretty much everything is going in the sale so the new store can just be filled with new stock.

Really no idea. If I count all the pins individually, and all the Beauty and the Beast stuff, I'm sure I've easily got over a 100 items. Thing is, some stuff is also generic Princess stuff or Disney stuff which features Belle on it.
Title:
Post by: disney_donutter on July 08, 2007, 10:37:43 PM
I Think the Chesire cat is a total Dude.. He doesn't ever seem to be a popular character though. But I could see how he would frighten little kids, with the Grin! hehe
Title:
Post by: Masamune on July 09, 2007, 01:39:24 PM
@ Prince - :o I've never counted my Cheshire pins towards my collection. It would be well over 100 if I did. :P I've always tried to get things that just feature Cheshire. I don't have much Alice in Wonderland stuff at all.

@ disney_donutter - ;) He must be at least a bit popular, considering how much merchandise featuring him has been made. :D And the fact that he's one of the 15th Anniversary statues at DLRP hopefully seals his place as one of the greatest classic Disney characters.
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on July 09, 2007, 05:42:30 PM
Well my pins are a huge part of my collection. Thing is, the majority of the Princess stuff is marketed to young girls so I'm at a bit of a disadvantage with the sorts of things I can collect. I've got the plushes but I'm not going to collect dolls. My collections more of a general Disney collection too, with an emphasis on Princesses - and Belle is my favoured of the Princesses, so it's not a Belle collection as such.

Like I said I've only a few WTP pins n some other Disney WTP merchandise.
Have you seen the giant Eeyore that Birthday have in their card windows? I dont think he's as big as your Cheshire cat tho'

@ Prince - :o I get what you mean. Thinking about it, apart from things like your Armani statues and snowglobes, I can't think of much else featuring Princesses that's marketed towards adults.

@ tubbsy - :P I have exactly 88 Cheshire Cat things (I think). I was counting my list in Notepad and I realised stuff needed adding to it. I think I've listed all my Cheshire stuff now, but I may of forgotton something. If I haven't, I've got exactly 88 Cheshire Cat things now. :) And on top of that, I have 16 Cheshire Cat pins. So that's 104 Cheshire things all together. *Definatly needs more Cheshire pins*

:D Lol, I don't mind people going off topic.

 Who wants to see a pic of all my Cheshire plushies together? Except the giant one, who I couldn't be bother dragging on to my bed for the pic.

:P My bed is a sight to behold. That's just my Cheshire plushies. I have a lot of other Disney plushies on my bed with them. :o They're all arranged above my pillow, so my pillow has to be placed further down on my bed. I'm 5ft 8", so my feet end up sticking out the bottom of my bed.

 I keep trying to bring myself to put a few of the non-Cheshire plushies in a bag and put them in the attic, but I just can't do it. Right now they are all in a bag, as I changed the sheets on my bed recently and haven't been bothered to put them all back yet. It usually takes like an hour to arrange them all and such.

Hey Masamune ! I would like to konw too how you got so interested in Cheshire Cat ? Because I know that a lot of people are very addicted to Mickey Mouse, like me too. But I never met someone who is addicted to Cheshire Cat.

you are so lucky to have such a huge plush of you favourite Character. I want to have one of Mickey. I'm really in love with Mickey you know. Here we have a shop called "Saturn" and in their DVD area there is a rack for Disney DVDs and next to it is a tall Mickey plush. He's almost as tall as a 12 year old child and I love him. He's soooo cute. I asked if I could buy him, but they told me that he's not for sale. I'm so sad, 'cause I want to have him.

@ RnRCj and Disneyana - :o It's actually a weird story how I got into Cheshire Cat stuff. It was on our first trip to America, to visit my mum's cousin in Long Beach California. The day after we arrived, we got the metro to Hollywood to have a look around. There's a Disney Store right across the road from where you exit the metro station, so we headed straight for that, but there wasn't anything there we wanted.

Further down, we went into the Kodak Theatre, which is where they hold the Oscars. I didn't even know that place had shops in it, but it does. One of the shops was Hot Topic, and it was very much a goth shop, but with a weird twist. :P They were selling things like SpongeBob, Harry Potter and Care Bears. Intrigued, I eagerly went in. Then my mum called me over and pointed upwards at the big wall of tops and said "That's a nice top isn't it?".

:D She was pointing at a black sleeveless top with a glittery picture of the Cheshire Cat on it. I thought it was lovely, so I asked a staff member to get it down for me. Then as we went around the shop, I realised that this top wasn't the only Cheshire thing they had. By the time I came to the till, I was clutching the top, a bag, hair clips, 2 wristbands and a sew-on patch. All with Cheshire on them. :x My mum told me I was stupid for buying all that stuff, but thankfully, I ignored her. ;) And the rest is history.

:O Whilst we were still in America we found another Hot Topic, and I bought more Cheshire stuff (just a rubber bracelet from that one). Basically, all my spending money for the 2 weeks was gone within a matter of days.

The reason I think it's weird how I got into Cheshire Cat is because he wasn't my fave Disney character before then. I don't even think he was in my top 5. But I just adored the Cheshire Cat stuff Hot Topic was selling, so I HAD to buy all of it. It's like I've done it backwards. Usually people like a character then buy stuff featuring that character, but I wasn't even a fan of the character and I bought stuff with him on it.

@ Prince - Is that all your stuff with JUST Belle, or does it include Princess stuff featuring Belle? :o I didn't count my stuff that has other characters as well as Cheshire on it (eg, my Disney's Sinister Cats t-shirt).

@ donutter - :) Thanks! :P I have about 10 Eeyore plushies myself, as I can never resist buying them if they go in the sale at the Disney Store. That's why they're mostly seasonal Eeyore plushies.

@ Tow - :D That's still really impressive, considering it's one of the newer films. *Has yet to see Cars*

@ Disneyana (again) - :( Aww. You should ask them if it's for sale everyday until they give in! And yes, I do think I'm very lucky to have this big guy, especially since the manager at Clinton's told me that not all Clinton's stores got these huge ones. And considering he wasn't even supposed to go on sale originally.

@ disney_donutter, Tow Matwer and Masamune: Yeah I really should do something like this. And then the shop's manager is to blame for my criminal career started. No. I very friendly asked if they sell it, and a very unfriendly guy just said: It's vnot for sale. I will try to ask them from where they got it, maybe they tell me. My husband think's that maybe they got it direct from Disney together with the DVD rack. As kind for the right advertising and because of that they can't sell it. Don't know.

Yes I never had problems to get posters and cardboard stuff from cinemas, travel agencys and so one. I looked out the disneystore website. They do have a 36 inch tall plushie. But that's not so tall like the one I saw at Saturn. we sadly don't have any Disney Stores here in Germany. I will try to ask for a different way to get the Mickey plushie from Saturn.

Yeah that definatly sucks. We had Disney Stores here in Germany, but not many people did shopping there. So the Walt Disney Company recgonized that there was no market for them here in Germany and they decided to close every shop and leave Germany. How great ! But I guess it's true. Germans are not so much into Disney like Americans and Britains.  I guess without Ebay I would not have the chance to buy a lot of Disney stuff.

Cheshire cat does have a purple head and a stripey purple and pink body.  :?

It's not very nice to imply someone's purchase which has cost them alot of money is a bootleg.

It doesn't really matter what you think, the main thing is that Masamune is pleased with it - but it could be a more tactful first post.

 :?
Title:
Post by: goofy-2000 on August 12, 2007, 01:16:40 PM
i am sorry if i offened you  it is just that it looks odd because the head colour normally matches the the darker stripes of the body. :ears:
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on August 12, 2007, 01:26:01 PM
Fair enough - I'm not offended, it isn't mine, but if it was something I'd paid out a lot of money for, I'd probably not be happy if people were critical of it.

But I see what you mean about the darker head colouring. Some merchandisers take a bit of artistic licence with their products though. I have some Armani statues, and they aren't 100% on model with the characters they represent, but they are obviously recognisable and are very beautiful. I actually like the artistic licence they take, a kind of midway point between the Disney animation and real life.

@ treble - :) This thread here says where I got all my stuff from.

viewtopic.php?t=410 (https://forum.dlpguide.com/viewtopic.php?t=410)

:o I do actually have a small Easter Cheshire Cat plushie. :P That was a present from my mum, and she got it off eBay.

@ goofy - ;) Like Prince said, if you look at how Cheshire appears in the film, his head is actually a darker shade of purple than what his purple stripes are.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/G ... erfect.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/GaiaSigs/CheshirePerfect.jpg)

And as you can see from the following pic, Cheshire Cat plushies do tend to vary. I have some with dark pink and light pink stripes, and some with light purple and dark purple stripes. In all of them though, the head is a different colour to the body, as that's how the Cheshire Cat is. :D

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/G ... lush1S.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/GaiaSigs/CPlush1S.jpg)

 So yeah, I have no clue where you got the idea from that Cheshire's head colour matches his body colour, because in the film, it doesn't. :P I'm glad all his merchandise varies though, as I'd probably get bored with collecting it if everything looked exactly the same.

@ smurfy - o.o If you mean the H.Samuel Cheshire, yes, I bought it. :D It's even nicer IRL than it is on the website.

 Clinton's is fast becoming my favourite shop. :D They just got in some new Cheshire Cat stuff, and it's all beautiful! Today when I went in they had a gorgeous pillow, an amazing jumbo mug, a cute photo holder, a nifty pencil case and two spiffy notebooks, one big and one small. :P I bought everything except the big notebook and the pencil case, which I'll be going back for tomorrow.

This stuff is SO classy. The pillow, the pencil case and the notebooks are done in purple suade. The pillow shows Cheshire in the cutest pose ever, with his head resting on his paws and a really dreamy expression on his face. :D His tail is 3D plush on the pillow, and there's embroided patterns and diamantes. The notebooks are like the pillow, only Cheshire is wearing GLASSES! He looks like a total hippy, it's amazing! The mug has him wearing glasses too! :P Then probably my fave thing I bought today, the photo holder is a cute little resin statue of Cheshire sat down cuddling his tail, which is actually plushie.

Seriously, Clinton's have outdone themselves with their Catified (that's what the Cheshire stuff is called) range, and I hope they just keep making more!
