That was a very enthusiastic mowgli! Not sure about nemo and dory ons sticks.....loved that the floats had so many moving parts and the dancing as always was very energetic  and lively. Can't wait to see it for real!

I absolutely love it! It's the star of the 25th for me.

The music is so catchy and energetic, the costumes are great (I love the main characters' steampunk inspired outfits) and the floats are wonderful. The performers were top notch too.

Worth watching a few videos before you go to work out where to stand - Maleficent only breathes fire at 5 designated spots on the route and not at all down main street.

That just looks so awesome, I am so looking forwards to seeing it in the flesh so to speak.
Two slight downers though, I think its a shame they couldn't have kept it for the start of the 25th and I really hope they can keep up the maintenance these floats are going to need. I loved the Crush float but was struck with how many moving parts there are and how that would spoil things if they weren't moving.
Still loving it though

I like it a lot. The floats look so much more extravagant than the old ones - the Toy Story float in particular is amazing.

My mother's not a fan though. She flicked through an album of 15th anniversary DLP photos and noticed that there's less floats compared to the old parade. Cue the usual grumbling about 'charging more for less'.

Does anyone else notice that Paris Simba looks so much different that Simba on the float in Tokyo Disneyland ( worse.. like old? Strange colours and fur? He is also moving much slower and more robot like)
Here is link to the parade from Tokyo Disneyland : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3Eu7gFidt8
The parade itself is great, music is really catchy, choreography great, costumes beautiful - cant wait to see it live!

The 25th launched this weekend. There are extra celebrations on the actual day but the season started yesterday with the press preview day.

There's 8 floats - same as both Once Upon A Dream and Magic on Parade. Fantillusion had loads because they were smaller.

Whereas OuaD and MoP were nearly the same, all the floats here are new to the park (some exclusives) except the horse carriages which will be replaced with a princess float next year.

I watched it on periscope and loved it so much that I've booked to go in July to see it live haha!! I can't stop humming the music it's contagious. I didn't think anything would top magic on Parade but I was very pleasantly surprised! :)

I didn't count 8.

Mickey and friends
Toy Story
Finding Nemo
Jungle Book/Lion King
Peter Pan
Frozen

That's 6, not 8.

Will they not count the huge dragon and princesses as floats, which will bring it to 8?
I think more could have been included and the characters/dancers in between don't seem as interactive as in other parades.
Can't wait to see it in person though.

Love the new parade! The only thing I don't like is the shape of the Lion King / Jungle Book float. It doesn't match the round shapes that the other floats have. Hope the new princess float will be an addition to the unit and not completely replace the carriages... I assume that one of the Magic On Parade floats will be transformed to the princess float, excited to see which one. Also curious what will happen to the other floats...

I'm really pleased that the parade has changed; I liked the old one a lot but have been watching it for 5 years, plus never loved the fact that it just has a song that, when it finishes simply starts again!

The new parade once again has a song (which is excellent btw!) that has individual segments specific to each float.  Good move.

I also love the energy in the pace of the new parade music.  We're off to DLP next week and I can't wait!

Not that overkeen on the music. I think it is too fragmented.
Hopefully will be a grower.

Maleficent though! Where does she breath fire so we can make sure we see it? I don't often want merchandise (stingy!) but I would part with money for a Maleficent ornament. Especially if it moves.

I'd only planned in to watch the parade once on our visit but it's definitely one to watch a few times!

The dragon, during the premiere, breathes fire about 5 times i think.

In one of the videos of the 1st ever Disney Stars parade she breathes fire at the beginning of the parade.

Obviously this can change i guess - so so dont quote me!

The main thing I've heard about the fire-breathing is that there is none down Main St USA (i.e. the main part of the route!). I never watch it there anyway (did once a few years ago and never again!) so not a problem, but I suspect that a great many will not know and will position themselves there, possibly being a little disappointed.

Since these elements are controlled via GPS it is possible in theory for them to change the locations whenever they want but we'll see...

I love the new parade, and in particular the themed song sections relevant to each float.  Some of the floats are insane as well! They don't actually look safe in many cases, but you assume they must be, right?!

Can't wait until we're lucky enough to go back next week...  ;D ;D ;D

I was there over the weekend. A couple of my thoughts:

-My main gripe was that it is a lot of the same movies that are represented in this parade as in Magic on Parade and the Once Upon a Dream parade.

-Therefore, it was exciting seeing characters like Olaf, Kristoff and the Princes etc etc but I'm kind of done with seeing Toy Story and Jungle Book.

-I really liked the opening float, Peter Pan, Maleficent and the Frozen float.

-Felt Finding Nemo and Toy Story didn't quite fit in with the overall theme and The Lion King/Jungle Book float I could take or leave.

-Mowgli looked like Fred Flintstone in his outfit!

-They need a Princess float asap, their section looked a little jumbled. And while Princess Aurora is my absolute favourite, she needs to do more that twirl down Main Street by herself. Hoping she can spearhead the Princess float instead!

-The performers are all amazing and looked like they were having a great time which meant the audience were having a great time and it really felt like a party atmosphere on Saturday.

-The floats are all so tall which makes me wonder if there will be Christmas garlands on Main St this year?

-The song is growing on me!

-Finally, I'm surprised Tink isn't in the parade seeing as she is the face of the 25th?

I was initially kind of disappointed but I think I had very high expectations and was hoping the parade would be more like Festival of Fantasy in Disney World. I've since gotten over the initial disappointment and think it will be a good parade for the park and for the average guests who perhaps does not visit as often as we do.

Tinkerbell can't really be in the parade as she is atop the front float, infront of Mickey & Minnie!

I watched the live stream video and didn't even realise he  was Mowgli.

Maybe a princess float is the 'anniversary surprise' they have teased for 12th April?

I agree. Tinkerbell should be a part of The parade. I also think there should be a Ratatouille float.

I think Disney Stars on Parade is just what Disneyland Paris needs. It's a fresh, vibrant new parade with stunning floats and beautiful choreography. I'm so pleased each float has individual music mixed in with the theme music perfectly. It's a fun and vibrant parade and completely different to what Disneyland Paris has had before but matches with the high standard of parades in other Disney resorts around the world.

I can't wait to see the Princess float addition next year.

I love it! Can't wait to see it live and I already have Lost In The Magic stuck in my head!

Okay, here's definitive proof that she can breathe fire down Main Street. Also showing off her new full fire breathing effect!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3xyWNou-2k

Town Square might be a different issue because it's much narrower around there.

The parade seemed to have a bit of a nightmare today. Huge pause in the middle, Crush not working and Maleficent not out!

The new Parade is visually excellent, but it's just so disappointing in other ways.

The music is awful. It's not catchy and it's quite frankly a mess. I get that each float has its own music alongside a main overall song, but the execution is poor. To see how this is done well, the Paint the Night show at WDW is a good example.

Too many of the floats have characters too high up. There needs to be more ground level interaction.

The 25th anniversary song is really good - why didnt they use that as the parade song rather than this monstrosity.

Frozen as the last float seems about 3 years too late in execution.

Too many same characters as per previous parades.

Sorry but I heartily disagree about the music. I love it. It's incredibly catchy and up beat without being the normal pop cheese. I like the fact they've gone for a more swing feel with it. I hope they release the soundtrack soon!

Personally I wouldn't have Frozen as the finale float but it is still incredibly popular, particularly with children.

I couldn't tell you any of the words from the Parade, whereas I know every single one from Magic Everywhere

It's a mess and it's not coherent. We were spoilt with the Parade song for the 20th and this pales by comparison.

*shrugs*

I sing along very happily every time I see the parade and I can't help but dance with it. I like having a parade with music for each float again too.

I loved Magic Everywhere. I really wasn't a fan of Just Like We Dreamed It. So I'm just glad they replaced a song I loved with a song I love.

I have to say, I completely agree - the music is awful, such a shambles.. And I haven't even seen it live yet.. I had heard the anniversary song before watching clips of the parade, and actually thought that was the one they used for the parade... Imagine my disappointment...!!! I can't believe they would choose something like this - I can't find head nor tail in it... And I certainly wont be learning any lyrics (which I have already done with the anniversary song)..
Do they even use that anywhere in the park now??
I guess I will have to wait and see if it grows on me, when we go... :(

Saw the parade twice this week.
I just cant get into the music...
Also the floats are very high so it is easy to miss characters. For me Mogali is up very high. I wouldnt have known about him being in the parade if i hadnt have read it on here

Title: Re: Opinions on the new Disney Stars Parade
Post by: claire2281 on July 18, 2017, 12:27:05 PM
Having now seen it in person I can safely say I think it's utterly brilliant. I loved Magic of Parade but this is a definite step up. It's so vibrant and impressive and I adore the music (particularly the Peter Pan interlude which has an amazing energy to it). The characters dancing at the start are great, the floats are all impressive and everything was working smoothly. Maleficent is of course a highlight but there's so much to see and we got some wonderful interactions from the walking characters (especially the fairies as we were wearing Maleficent hats XD).

Alas the Lion King float is absent right now as it has an engine problem but the characters were all on foot instead and tbh it wasn't really missed that much.

Just a note to say that the rotating wheel on the Toy Story float doesn't appear to be used when it's been raining as I guess it's far too slippery for the performers. Others everything was working brilliantly including the smoke on Goofy's rocket pack.

IMO by far the best place to stand is the area between the towers out of Fantasyland and castle stage (on the annual passport bureau side). You get a great long view of the floats coming up and it's a brilliant spot for getting photos and videos.

I was so disappointed. Couldn't get into the music. Floats were grand and amazing but not enough happening on the floor- stood in the disabled section near the castle and sometimes between floats there was just empty street while you waited for the next float  . Parade used to be the highlight of the week but there was no desire to see it again.

If you've never seen a parade, this was amazing! It's nice that every float has it's own music that you recognize from the movies and to see how enthusiastic the characters are.

Now I've seen one parade before and I must say that compared to the one I have seen (I went november last year, no idea what it's called...) this is a bit of a letdown, I think. When I got home last year, the song popped into my head a couple of times, causing me to sing it at the top of my lungs, having my boyfriend sing along. That won't happen this year when we go. It also feels like in the last parade, there were more floor characters, which makes me feel like it was a lot bigger than this one is.
Fair enough; the floats are amazing, so big and beautiful. It's just such a shame that some are so high, for example Buzz Lightyear! I also think it's a shame there is no interaction between Peter Pan and Captain Hook. In the last parade there was and I loved that. I do very much love the Frozen float and the fact that Kristoff is in the parade as well.

All in all I like the parade a lot, it's just not as good as the last parade.

I actually like the music!

Thought it was very short in comparison to other parades I've seen and I don't know, not much seemed to be happening? Thought the dragon was a bit rubbish too, to be honest. Being able to see a person literally driving it down main street whilst on her walkytalky was a bit of a mood killer...

We got lots of interaction between them with them heckling each other (Hook's seat allows him to turn round to face Peter) so I guess it just depends on when you see it.

I think the floats are amazing! Colorful, spectacular and interactive (the wheel at the Toy Story float, the ship at the Peter Pan-float, the fire of the Malifcent-dragon).

But the parade does seem smaller then the previous one - which is a shame after so much years waiting. The princess carriages are also a letdown. We already saw them for so many years. Why not change them in something different if they wanted to use them again (like little pre-floats of the mainfloats)? There are rumors there is a princess float coming in 2018. This would be a good thing since it would make the parade a little longer and the princess carriages can dissappear (or remade) so the parade looks completely new.

There also seemed to be more dancers in the previous parade, but I do believe there is enough dancing. However, I find the opening dancers a little confusing... The Mary Poppins & Bert, Aladdin & Genie, Alice & Madhatter. I don't understand why they let them dance before the parade (and why these characters?). I believe they look a little lost, all other characters make part of a float... If the intention was to show some characters that are often seen in Disneyland Paris, I would have preferred characters from every land (Mary Poppins for Main Street, Tiana for Frontierland, Aladdin for Adventureland, Alice for Fantasyland & Stitch for Discoveryland). Maybe even with some signs from the different lands. Together with some dancers, they could make a great pre-parade before the Mickey-float...

There are still strong rumours that the princess float will be coming next year to replace the current carriages.

The Lion King float has a new engine and seems to be running well now.

The current known 'issues' are more due to weather considerations - the wheel on the Toy Story float can't run if it's too hot (due to the health of the performers) or rainy (too slippery). There's little they can do about this. The other big one is running Maleficent in the rain - apparently the issue is the driver has no cover and they can't see where they're going if it rains! This supposedly will be sorted so she can be out during bad weather.

Just seen the parade and agree with a lot of the comments here.

Spectacular floats, best seen from a distance (although then you can't see the street performers).

Totally unmemorable music.

I have been visiting Disneyland Paris annually since 1997 and I am therefore in the older age bracket as my children are now in their late twenties. I am afraid that I do not like the music and I cannot recall the tune or any lyrics so it is not so enjoyable as the previous parades, I remember all the previous tunes.  I do however love the floats which are vibrant and fun.

I remain firmly in the love it camp and I LOVE the music. :P For me it's so much better than some of the awful cardboard pop they've had in the past . I adored Magic Everywhere but always found Just Like We Dreamed It bland. Lost in the Magic has that really upbeat jazz/swing tone that I love and I'm really fond of the Pirates Life For Me interlude.

Tbh I think the only other parade song that currently comes close is Paint The Night.

As for being comparable to the paint the night parade, that's very insulting to the Paint parade. Miles apart.

I'm not talking about the parade itself but the music. Paint the Night is a night parade (which I would love to see at Paris once more) and a completely different beast.

Stars on Parade however is a great daytime parade with some amazing floats and will be even better when the new princess float comes in.

The floats look awesome. What reduces the fun is the people, though. Handicapped guests are now located @ castle stage, so there WOULD be enough possibilities for carers and accompanying people to sit down, but they don't. Instead, they push themselves in front of people in wheelchairs and the such, meaning anyone who cannot stand, cannot see. This is awful and unnecessary

This makes me mad, as we have 3 boys with special needs, 1 of whom uses a wheelchair we make good use of the area for disabled at the parades, we arrive in plenty of time, put the kids against the rope and then kneel directly behind them so that we're not obstructing the views of others, (a good 45 mins kneeling isn't exactly comfortable) but we happily do it cos we're grateful and try to be conscious of other guests, what drives me insane is when people arrive last minute and as the parade is starting push their kids in front, thinking its ok.  this bugs me for 2 reasons- if youre in the disabled area as an adult and can have 1 guest it's either your own child who should remain with you or your child is disabled in which case you should be by their side not 6 feet away looking the other way with4 layers of people between you. and also ive arrived early so that my son has space and me as a barrier so that he doesn't accidentally hurt anyone with his twitching and spasming. this is really hard to do when another kid gets pushed in front of him,. grrrrrr
sorry mini rant over

See, I absolutely adore this parade. The floats, the music...gawsh! :D

However, a common theme with Steve Davison/WDI is the same old characters in every parade. There's no variety apart from float and music design between the different parks these days.

I had a struggle with Magic on Parade - I think it was the loss of the villians for me and I really don't like one song looped for an entire parade. It just doesn't sit well with me.

Still, I love the steampunk vibe of this parade. Does anyone know why Mickey, Minnie and Goofy aren't in their normal positions lately?

There was a fault with the first float and they were waiting for parts to fix it. It's all working again now so Mickey, Minnie and Goofy are back in their proper places and Chip n Dale are on the float again rather than walking behind it.  :)
