Everyone is fast asleep but I'm wide awake (big kid).

Day 1

So we arrived yesterday, Paris was foggy so sadly no photos of the Eiffel tower from the plane, but this is the first flight to CDG that wasn't full of turbulence so I don't mind the trade.
It couldn't have worked out better to be fair (and obviously I claimed to have planned it that way) as after we'd collected our bags and headed to the trains there was a TGV due in just 15 mins, so we got a ticket and headed to the platform to wait.
The train was on time and nice and clean (British people will appreciate how nice a change this is!) and within 10 mins we arrived at Marne la Valee. The kids saw Space Mountain first and made 'eeeeeep' noises!
As much as it killed us to turn away from the village when we saw it, we jumped in a taxi to the Adagio where we are staying for this trip. We were quoted 10 euros before we got in, so no need for haggling.
We got to the hotel around 1:15pm, I explained we were early and the receptionist was lovely and said that was no problem and we were given a room right away. I unpacked in about 10 minutes, and then we went exploring. First, we went into Val d'Europe to find where the Auchan is, once we knew where that was (and grabbed a drink) we headed towards the parks. We had every intention of walking all the way but as we rounded the corner by the police station, the free number 50 bus was just behind us so we waved to it and jumped on. We'd been given a flyer by our hotel to show so we could use this, and within 5 mins we were back to just outside the Village.
We went straight to DL park, and the CM on the gate told us what time the passport office was open until (as we had temporary tickets to exchange) and after a few photos we headed straight there.
There was only 1 other family in front of us when we got there, so not long to wait. Whilst we waited outside, we hears an announcement there would be a special preview of the Frozen sing along in the Chaparral Theatre in English at 3:45pm, so we knew what we would be doing first!
The CM in the passport office was wonderful, and said happy birthday to me and my two girls after checking our passports. Then she handed a phone to us in turn and we had a Happy Birthday from Mickey, it was lovely. Soon we had our AP's along with a calender and our T's and C's in a small folder (need to read those later!), and just before we left we were each given a certificate to say happy birthday, so that was lovely too!
Once out of there we headed straight for Chaparral Theatre which already had quite a queue, but once the doors opened everyone fit in, I can't believe how big it is in there! The Frozen sing along is very good, and I did a good job of belting out the tunes as my throat hurt afterwards! I won't give any spoilers away, but if you are a fan or have any little fans, do try and see this.
After the show we headed to our first ride...Phantom Manor. It stated 15min queue time but we were inside within 5 minutes. It was good to be back on my favourite ride, and so lovely to see it all working as it should be. I loved how as we got to Leota, my 9yr old was saying her speech with her, just shows how many times we've been on this hahaha!
After PM we headed (via sneaky shortcut) to City Hall to see if we could get birthday badges. When we came out of the arcade, we saw CM's loitering with ropes so hubby stuck around there and the girls and I went into City Hall. The lady in there was lovely and gave us our badges (thankfully she didn't write my age on mine haha!) and we went and found hubby right at the front of the rope ready for Magic on Parade. I'm sure we must have looked strange to those around us singing and dancing our heads off during the parade but I don't care. A very special moment was when Snow White saw our birthday badges and counted '1,2,3?' with a shocked face, we laughed and nodded to her and she said Happy Birthday and blew us all a kiss. We'll never forget that I'm sure!
After the parade we headed to Discoveryland so the kids and hubby could do Star Tours. We were disappointed as we went past Space Mountain to see it had been closed, not sure what was wrong with it. I had a peruse in Star Traders whilst they were in the ride (I love it but it makes me feel real queasy!) Then afterwards we saw Space Mountain had reopened so hubby and the eldest went on that, and the little one and me chatted and enthused about everything so far.
After this we went onto Buzz as it had a 20min wait, but within 10mins we were on. Very proud of my score I was too!
After Buzz it was 6:55, Dreams would be starting in just 5mins! The time had really gotten away with us today but we felt we'd done a lot. We weren't expecting to get a good view as it was so late, but actually found a great spot slightly to the right before you get to the passport office and stage. It's easier in winter as the trees have no leaves! I enjoyed Dreams of Christmas but I have to say I missed regular Dreams. But that's because I'm a big Peter Pan fan I suppose.
After Dreams we had a slow walk back through the shops and grabbed some tasteful Christmas light necklaces (haha!) we were going to try and eat in the village and then walk back to the hotel but there was a decent wait in all the restaurants so we decided to treat ourselves to a cab and eat near the hotel. I am so glad we did.
There is an Italian restaurant near the entrance to Val d'Europe called 'Prego', and their food is stunning. I would highly recommend this place if you're staying locally. Delicious. Later we'll eat in the apartment after we've stocked up at Auchan, but it was nice to have a change.

I've been through the programme and have all the times noted for the various things happening during the rest of our stay, so we won't miss anything else while we're here. Had a lovely first day though, really lovely.

You mentioned temporary tickets to exchange for APs - how did you do this in advance? Our APs will have run out by the time we get there at Christmas so we will need to do this when we go.

Just a quickie while I have 5 mins (and wifi), our birthdays are 1st, 5th and 7th, so this is a super cool birthday present for ourselves lol!
RE the temporary AP's; we didn't have them before so purchased for the first time online via supertrips.net and printed the confirmations. Pretty sure you can renew by post now though, sure someone can answer that for me xxx

My goodness, I was not expecting to wake to this news. Howawful.  :(  I'm glad the parks are closed today, it would feel wrong being somewhere so happy when the rest of the country is in such grief and turmoil.

Stay safe Seraphelle, so sorry this had to happen on such a special trip.

Thought I would type up what we did yesterday and today as everyone is asleep now.

Day 2

So yesterday was day 2 of our 5 day stay. We woke not as early as we'd hoped to, but never mind. We walked from the Adagio to the Village, this took between 15-20 mins I would say, not long at all. Within a few minutes more we were in the park.
We timed it just right again and within a few mins of arriving, the Christmas parade was about to start.
This parade is beautiful, and again I don't want to give out spoilers, but do try and be on Main Street to watch this if you can! You can thank me later  ;)
After this we headed to POTC and saw Aladdin, Jasmine and Abu in Adventureland on the way. We've never seen Jasmine there before so this was a big treat.
walked straight on to Pirates and enjoyed every second, and then treated myself to a Jack Skellington top in the little shop afterwards. 
Hubby and eldest then headed to Indy, youngest was too short by an inch or so, so we decided to go and do Phantom Manor. On the way we saw King Louis, Balloo, Jafar, Hook, Smee, Donald, Mickey and Minnie! It started raining all of a sudden so the little one and I ran and sheltered under some trees by BTM, then when it slowed we ran for the Manor. This was again a walk-on. When we got out hubby and eldest were waiting for us, and we went and got straight back onto Phantom Manor altogether  ;D it's a firm family favourite is this ride!
We decided to head to Castle and as we got there the Frozen royal welcome was beginning, which was lovely. Afterwords we went to see what the queue was like for Peter Pan as so many rides were walk-ons, but this has a 40 min wait time, so we skipped it to come back to later.
Hubby and girls went into the labyrinth while I grabbed a hot drink, and I went to try and find Casey Jnr as we'd never done it on our previous visits. I found it after a few minutes, and I also saw Eeyore, Mad Hatter, Ariel, Aurora, and Scrooge McDuck while I was waiting for hubby and kids! All were coming to and from the green fence down by Casey jnr, so this is clearly a hot-spot for characters. My husband loves Scrooge McDuck so was thrilled to meet him lol.
We went on Casey (big hit with both kids!), which was 5min queue, then next door to the boat ride (can't remember name!), again a 5 min wait. Then back onto Casey again!
After this, we decided we were hungry and thirsty,  so we headed to cafe fantasia for some cocktails and nibbles.
These were delicious as always.
We decided to pop into the studios and try our luck on Ratatouille. We'd had no joy last trip as it kept breaking down, but we made it this time and although the motion made me a bit queasy in parts, my goodness it's an amazing ride!!! The whole thing is just beautiful. From the queueing area with the rooftops and music to the last second, just a whole different level! Amazing.
After this, we decided to do the studio tram tour as it was now dark and we were told it was best in the dark. Boy was it!!!! Wow!!! Really enjoyed this despite the aged video accompaniment.  Lots of fun.
After we got off this ride we were told the Park was closed,  so we decided to head to Annettes for some food. We weren't too bothered about more rides that day, or seeing Dreams again as we'd seen it the night before.
Our food was delicious, I was very pleasantly surprised by the veggie burger, it was yummy!
Following this we moorhen around the village and walked back to the hotel singing disney songs.

Day 3

This morning was a very different experience. I woke up to 42 missed calls on my mobile phone from various friends and family. We heard pretty soon what had happened and assured everyone we were safe. We knew the parks were closed. I walked around Val d'Europe and it was surreal. There was a few groups of people crying, and then huge tourist groups being led around by guides as if everything was normal. Bag checks were happening to enter the centre, and there was a heavy police presence.

We stayed in the hotel most of today, I bought Uno from Auchan and some crayons and we played games and had some lunch in the room. I looked everywhere for swimming costumes but couldn't find any, as we thought we could take the kids to the hotel pool to placate them for the day. So note to self, next time take swim stuff just in case!

We went to the Village this evening. It was very quiet. Still people around but not as many as usual. We ate in Ludwigs and had some weisbier, then another mooch around the stores.

When we arrived back at our hotel we heard rumours that the Parks will stay shut until the day after our trip will end. Our kids are heartbroken, but we're glad we got so much crammed in to our first couple days. Hubby is gutted to not have had a meet and greet with Sandy Claws, I wanted a Spiderman meet, and the kids wanted Merida. Still, these things can't be helped and we stand with France in their decisions.

I've emailed Air France to see about switching to an earlier flight home so our annual leave days aren't completely wasted. Will see what they say in the morning!

I spoke with my boss this morning, and Air France. We have made the decision not to go early, but to stay extra. We're staying until Friday now, I just hope the parks do open on Wednesday.

That's great you made that decision I really hope they do and you get chance to enjoy the parks. How is it there? Are the hotels/Disney village managing well?

I'm in Val d'Europe so not sure about the hotels as I haven't been in one yet. Might try and go in Sequoia today to the bar, see what's going on. Village wasn't very busy last night and everything was open as normal. Pretty sure they'd turned the carols up on the speakers unless it was just because there were less people it seemed louder?

They are putting characters in Disney hotels so it might be worth going to one during the day - I know a CM who is 'friends' with Mickey / Minnie and is there today.

Day 4

So yesterday we played games in the morning and then we went into Val d'Europe after lunch and had some Ben and Jerry's and a look around. Thankfully the sports store was open so managed to get swimming costumes for us all for €25! So that's tomorrow taken care off and possibly Tuesday too, my kids are real water babies and love a swim!
Bags are not only being checked upon entering the centre, but upon entering stores inside as well. We support this fully but it's amazing how many people we saw moaning about it. For God's sake it's for your own safety! Fools.
After this we headed to the hotels after the advice on here yesterday (bless you), we went to Sequoia first and saw Donald and Minnie,  then Tigger and Eeyore. They had face painting and balloon animals in the area to the right of the stairs and lots of kids seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Hubby fancied a drink (we do love the Sequoia bar) so I forced down a pina colada  ;) and then we popped into Hotel New York. I'd never seen this hotel inside and I think the theming is fabulous. Mickey and Minnie were in here, as were Mary Poppins and a penguin lol.
Then we wandered down to Sante Fe, and I'm so glad we did, it was Woody and Jessie, and they got everyone to sing happy birthday to the girls  :-* the Sante Fe was super busy in their kids area, and a lot of people seemed to be going / arriving too.
Next it was Cheyenne and we saw Stitch, Chip and Dale (who were handing out pain au chocolat to everyone). We had a lot of fun with them  ;D
After this we headed to rainforest cafe for some food. We saw a woman complaining as we were being seated (it was very quiet in there) but we had a wonderful meal so thankfully it wasn't a reflection of the place.
The kids had been saving their money for the 30% off for Dream AP holders in the studios that had been scheduled for Sunday, so as that clearly hadn't happened we let them spend a bit of their money. The little one bought a Stitch and the big one bought Angel.
We walked home from the village and had a game of Uno with the kids before bedtime.

Day 5

Today we are going in the hotel pool and to Ludwigs tonight. We've seen the news to say a lot of raids have taken place overnight and some people arrested, and that France have led some bombing in Syria. I'm surprised this has happened during the mourning period but can't say I blame them. Hopefully (forgive me if this sounds selfish)  this won't alter the plans for the Parks to open on Wednesday. We've used a lot of savings to stay here extra rather than go home when scheduled because I don't want the children to leave in fear, I want them to leave with good memories.

I'm glad you are making the most of a bad situation, but can as I ask as you've been around a lot of the hotels, what security is like getting into them?

We are due to go in a couple of days and I've changed my mind a million times and feeling today that we should cancel. Please don't take offence i feel awful for those who are in Disney now with the parks shut, but I had been hoping that security at the hotels would have restricted access only to those who are staying there?

Glad you got to meet some characters - I didn't realise quite how many they were putting in hotels. I've seen a lot of Thumper and Miss Bunny / Tiana in Sequoia too on instagram.

Also I've seen one or two photos of Elsa and Anna in DLH. Alice and White Rabbit have also been making appearances. Just an FYI for everyone in case the parks don't open. For the DLH characters are being placed both in the Lobby and near Inventions so do have a good look around.

EDIT:
As another update - didn't check my phone before my last message. CMs have been asked to go into the park today for 'meetings'. I don't know anything more but if I find out I'll let you know.

Hiya, just a quickie before we head to the pool. Security in hotels is discreet but the presence is there for sure. It's not in your face but there are eyes everywhere.

Yes we have decided to stay until Friday evening. So fingers crossed we manage some park action before then.

We are going to try Newport bay and DLH either this evening or tomorrow, so I will report back RE characters when I've been xxx

I'm glad you've managed to turn your trip around, it sounds like people are still managing to keep spirits up and Disneyland sound to be doing a great deal for their guests!

Fingers crossed the parks re-open as scheduled Wednesday I'm sure many, many guests will be thrilled. Your very lucky you were able to stay longer and have some time in the parks before returning home, I guess many others went home.

What a sad time it's been for all, I'm glad to read you say security has increased too I'm surprised people complain about this fact  ::) after these tragic events you'd think people would feel reassured rather than annoyed? I don't know.... Anyway enjoy your day today and look forward to tomorrow morning! I'm sure they'll be crowds eager to get in the parks and once again Disneyland Paris will create those happy memories for our children (& us big children!)

Day 5 continued
So yesterday we went to the Auchan and grabbed more food, and then went swimming in the hotel pool. We had the whole pool to ourselves! The kids had a great time so I'm glad we managed to find costumes the day before.
Afterwards we went to Ludwigs and had a meal, and we met two guys, Robin and Mikael, who are kitchen staff in Inventions but soon to go and work on Disney Cruises. They were so lovely, it was great meeting them and we ended up talking with them for about 2 hours!
After this the girls spent a little more of their money (baby pegasus and baby stitch) and we decided to see if we could go into DLH. We got to the gates and the CM couldn't speak very good English, so we struggled for a minute or two, he asked 'reservation?' and we said no, and I don't think he would have let us in. However, I got my AP out and showed him and he said ok and let us through.
In DLH we saw Mickey and Minnie, Smee and Goofy, and I got another Minnie hug  ;D
Then it was bus back to hotel (it had started raining or we would have walked), a quick game of Uno and bed.
Today we are heading to Newport bay and DLH again in the morning, before coming back to the hotel for a swim and an early night, keeping our fingers crossed all day that the Parks are open tomorrow.

Just an extra note on yesterday, military with guns are now by entrances to village, as are sniffer dogs. Bag checks are also more thorough. Still feel safe  :)

From Disney village we can enter the other hotels without problem, but DLH is behind the park gates they have shut, so I think just extra security for that one from the village. When you drive past the hotels on the buses, all the gates are shut and only official buses are being allowed to pull on,  or I assume guests with reservations if driving themselves.
I'm not sure on the weather just now. From the window it looks grey and cloudy so it might be raining or it may do so soon xxx

We travel out next week and although we had decided to still go it is very reassuring to read your reports. Firstly to see just how Disney is rising to the occasion and secondly to hear about the additional security. It has been great to read everything you have typed and I really hope when the parks open you are able to enjoy the time you have there. Thank you

Thanks folks, I would just hate for people to worry and obviously we're trying to stay as positive as possible for the girls.

Day 6

We tried again to get into DLH this morning but we're not allowed, the CM said it is guests only. We explained we had been allowed in last night for a drink in cafe fantasia and he said we should not have been permitted. After seeing photos on Instagram of all the princesses there yesterday the girls were upset. The CM was indifferent. This is the first time I have felt annoyed, so only the ones paying the premium get to see princesses?  That seems a bit harsh, but whatever, it won't break my spirit and I understand the need for tighter security.
Their seemed to be delays on trains today or some kind of regulation being enforced at Marne le vallee station, as lots of folks with suitcases were waiting outside. I have googled but cannot find anything online as to why.
We went to Newport bay and saw Aladdin. Then to Sequoia and saw Hook and White Rabbit. We had a quick Starbucks and are just having some lunch in the hotel before going swimming for the afternoon.
There is a heated towel rail in the bathroom in our apartment (thank goodness) so I am handwashing our delicates and managing to dry them  ;) ;D
Still keeping fingers crossed for parks opening tomorrow.

Bought a bottle of wine for this evening that I buy in England for £14 that cost me €4 in Auchan!!! The more I stay here the more I think us Brits get ripped off in our supermarkets!

It is a bit rainy today (fine rain, soaks you through  ;))  so do bring some waterproof stuff just in case xxx

Regarding the train delay, I've read on themeparkchannel.de (german site), that the station was evacuated due to an unattended suitcase.

Well we've heard that the Parks will be open tomorrow from 10 (and emh from 8 in dlp), so we're all set for an early night now so we can get there during emh.

If you are visiting within the next few days and see us in the parks do say hello, I have short dark hair with a red streak in,  two blonde daughters and a tall skinny husband  ;D

So glad it is opening & you get to enjoy the parks before you leave. My daughters school has rearranged her trip for march now so she a little upset she is not able to visit at Christmas but happy she is still getting to go.

I'll look out for you tomorrow, we in Sequioa lodge so will be in park for 8am hopefully. My son and husband will both be wearing thier Star Wars t shirts and darth Vader hoodies. I'm a hobbling ginger with a stick lol. 🙈

I'm back at work today (booooo!!!!) but I will finish the trip report later and hopefully get some photos on. Thank you for you asking  :D We ended up having a lovely time and got home without issue.  ;D

Day 7

Well on this morning we were up at around 7am after an early night the night before in preparation for going back into the parks. We ate our breakfast so fast it can only be described as being 'inhaled' rather than 'eaten'  ;D ;D ;D

We walked to the Village (buses weren't running just yet and its literally 10-15 min walk to the Village from the Adagio, if that). We were nice and early and arrived during EMH, and our first stop was Peter Pan. I do love this ride  :-* We couldn't believe how small the queues were even though it was EMH (little did we know they would stay this small through out the rest of our trip!).
Then we went and queued for Buzz, but it seemed to having some problems so we were let straight out the exit and asked to pop back later (fair enough). I guess with things being switched off for 4 days everything needed chance to get going properly again.
I got in the queue for Jedi Training academy tickets with the girls while hubby grabbed some fastpasses for Space Mountain for him and the eldest for later on. Then we switched and he got in queue and I went and got into the queue for Princess Pavillion tickets. Once we'd got our tickets sorted for the day, hubby and eldest went for their fastpass slot on Space Mountain, and the little one and me went on Autopia. I let her drive, much to her delight  ;D
Afterwards it was time for the girls to return to the Videopolis / theatre to become Jedi with Dad watching jealously, and I waited outside to be let in to watch the show.
Once inside, we waited around 10 minutes and then the show began, and I watched my little girls turn into sabre-wielding jedi doing some swish swordplay, and they even got to 'use the force' to make R2D2 float. The show lasted about 15 minutes and it was a lot of fun for them and the audience. There were many excited (and jealous) Dads watching, I can tell you  ;D ;D ;D

Following this, we grabbed a drink and went to watch the Frozen Royal Welcome again, and the Christmas Parade on Main Street shortly afterwards, singing our hearts out through the whole thing. We quickly ducked into Market House Deli as the last float went by to grab some hot food and drinks (it was starting to get nippy despite how bright blue the sky was!). We again inhaled our food, then took our hot drinks down to the castle stage to wait for Christmas Wishes.

I'm not ashamed to say I had a few tears in my eye when Belle came out with Prince Adam. This is my 3rd visit to DLP and the first time I had ever seen Belle, so me and the girls were very happy indeed. And hubby seemed a bit happy to see Jasmine, too, although I think for different reasons  ;)

After the show, we headed for POTC which was a walk-on, and we yo-ho'd all the way round. I do enjoy this ride so much. And I always make one of the kids sit on the left for the splash  ;) ;D

Next it was Princess time, and we headed to Pavillion. We walked all the way to the top and there were only 2 people in front of us. The CM asked us who we had met before, and asked who we would like to meet again, thankfully, the kids said Aurora or Ariel, and it was Aurora  :D So they were very happy indeed. Aurora was lovely, and asked them lots of questions, and when they said that they had watched wishes earlier, she asked which princess danced the best, and they said 'you!', and she nodded knowingly lol, we did laugh  ;D

When we left the Pavillion we went round to Casey Jnr and the boat ride (I will learn the name of this, promise) and then headed to see if we could meet Merida in Frontierland. There was quite a queue but we made it before the roped area was closed off and the girls got to chat with Merida for a bit and have some autographs and photos. She even did the accent which was cool.

I think we were all very paranoid about leaving anything out 'just in case', so next we headed to the Studios so Mommy could meet Spiderman (*swoon*). I was very well behaved and had nice photos with him, although I wish he was free with the hugs like Minnie  ;) lol. Hubby then took the eldest on Rock n Roller Coaster which they both loved, and then we went round and walked on to Ratatouille. Yep, walked on. That's how quiet the parks were.

I was a bit dizzy after this one (the 3d effects, or Spiderman come-down?) so I sat with a coffee whilst Rob and the girls went on Crush (10 min queue). After that the little one insisted we all do Slinky Dog, so we headed in Playland which I do love as its getting dark with all the lights on, and we walked on to this too.

Afterwards we headed back into DLP ready for the Christmas Tree lighting, and that was fab. I got a bit of a tear in my eye at this bit, too, especially at one particular point. I won't spoil it for those of you going soon.
When this was over we ducked down through the arcade and walkway to Phantom Manor and walked on, then did POTC again (another walk on). We decided to head back to watch Dreams and got a great spot in Central Plaza a few minutes before it started. We had to move twice but there was plenty of room, because tall people holding phones in the air decided to come and stand in front of the kids twice (seriously, manners?????) but it wasn't spoilt by these inconsiderate so-and-so's. When 'PEACE' lit up on the front of the castle everyone cheered and clapped and I burst into tears, people were hugging and shaking hands, it was something I will never forget. A beautiful moment that showed we were all united and they would not break us.

When Dreams finished everyone clapped and cheered again, and hubby and I decided via whispers as it was so quiet we'd try our luck at getting a table in Inventions. We were exhausted and needed a sit down so if not we would have a drink in Fantasia and then head somewhere else. We managed to get a table without problem, and boy am I glad we did. We saw Mickey, Donald, Tigger, Pluto, Geppetto, Goofy, but most importantly, Daisy Duck!

Daisy is a firm favourite of my youngest daughters and has been for some years now, she was even wearing a Daisy tshirt at the time. After a bit of a drama where it looked as though she was gone for the evening after only visiting a couple of tables, she came back after half an hour and we got to see her. My daughter burst into tears she was so overwhelmed and we explained to Daisy that she was her favourite (Daisy and Rapunzel are on most of her clothes lol) and she spent so much time and attention with her it was wonderful. She danced with her and gave her loads of cuddles, then fetched Donald so they could have a photo together. It was lovely.

After this we got the bus back to the Adagio and collapsed into bed. I'll try and include my fitbit steps in the photos, I well and truly had Disney Feet on this day!

Day 8

We woke up not so early today, as we were so exhausted from the day before. We got the bus around 9.30 into the village, and when we got to DLP we went straight for Santy Claws (aka Jack Skellington). There was a little queue already when we got there, and I wondered if the parks would be busier that day.
We had a great time with Jack as always (I forget how tall he is!), and then we headed to Phantom Manor (walk on). I can't explain how much I love this ride. It's just perfect.
Afterwards it was Pirates again (walk on), and then we decided to try Peter Pan (5 min queue), then we headed back towards the Chapparal Theatre for the Frozen singalong. On our way we walked on and did POTC again (any excuse!) and then went and sung our hearts out during the show. A CM came over with a microphone at one point and the girls got to sing into it a bit which they loved.
We decided to head to the Studios at the point as hubby wanted to watch the Moteurs show, but we walked the long way through Adventureland to see if there were any characters by Aladdins lamp, and I'm glad we did, as we saw Jafar and Abu! We then walked through the Aladdin area (does anybody else love miniature version of things? I go crazy for miniature things, especially houses, I desperately want to look inside the windows lol). We got to the Studios and in started raining hard, so I think we'd made a good decision to do the stunt show, it was nice to be out of it for a bit. We all really enjoyed the show, it was very cool. It was still wet and miserable as it finished, so we headed straight for Armageddon and the girls loved the special effects (we've since watched the film with them since we got home, the eldest sobbed with me at the end, but the youngest didn't bat an eye! Not sure she followed it all to be honest lol).
After this we saw an English Stitch Live was starting soon so went straight in for this, oh my gosh it was funny! My face hurt from laughing when we came out! It was not at all what I expected, and I'm still not sure how they did it, but our eldest was one of the ones he 'spoke' to, and as a huge Stitch fan this pleased her very much indeed. Although he did joke that her and a boy in the audience were boyfriend and girlfriend and she turned a shade of red that I've never seen on her before lol.
After this, we then walked right into Animagique. I've never bothered with the shows before but I loved this! It reminds me so much of a show I used to watch as a kid whenever we visited Blackpool that was full of blacklights and flying butterflies. Beautiful!
It was still soggy and miserable outside so we decided to skip Dreams that night and we went to Ludwigs and stuffed our faces with their delicious food (and beer, *hic*) and then we did a spot of shopping and got the bus back to the hotel.
We had done everything we wanted to do on this trip despite the lost time in the middle, so tomorrow was our last day and was a bonus for us to do whatever last few bits and bobs we wanted to. I packed the suitcases whilst the girls got ready for bed and we had a last game of Uno before bedtime.

Day 9


Well this was the day we were going home, and although I am always sad to leave Disney, I couldn't help but feel a little glad at the thought of being in my own bed and seeing my animals again.

I finished off the last few bits of packing, then we ate a very interesting breakfast consisting of most of the stuff we had left in the apartment lol, and we went and got the bus for the last time to the village with our cases. The buses were much busier this morning, so I figured the parks were on their way to getting back to normal with regard to numbers of visitors. It was very drizzley again this morning, so I'm glad I'd made the kids wear their boots today (not that I needed the space in the suitcases, not at all, ahem). We took the suitcases to Guest Storage, we left 2 suitcases and 2 hand luggage bags, and they let us leave the girls bags there for nothing (I thought AP holders only got 1 bag each for free), so we appreciated this a lot as it meant the kids weren't moaning about carrying their bags around for the last few hours.

We headed into the parks and mooched through the shops on our way to Buzz (walk on), then went to Star Tours (another walk-on). Then I went to the Christmas shop in the castle and bought a few decorations (the girls don't know yet but they have an Angel and a Daisy decoration each, and I got hubby a Cogsworth). We visited more stores in the courtyard and then we went on Snow White, then Pinocchio (5mins queues each), and round to Peter Pan (10min queue). I do love these rides but I wish Snow White was a little longer and included the part at the end of the story, because you seem to skip over the bit where she is woken up and she's just there smiling at you at the end.
After this it was POTC (would be rude not to as it was so close!), then down to Phantom Manor for the last ride of the day 'hurry back, hurry back'......don't you worry matey, I will.

We walked back the long way and went to see the dragon under the castle and the waterfall, the strolled back up main street. Frozen royal welcome had started so we waited and gave Anna and Elsa a last wave before leaving the park. We headed to Earls and got a hot sandwich and drinks and sat inside drying off a bit (it was really coming down again at this point). Then we popped back to Guest Storage and grabbed the bags and jumped in a taxi to the airport. We were going to get the TGV but it would have been more money than we had been quoted for a cab, so we opted for the cab.
This was a bit of an annoyance as he clearly tried to rip us off, so please be mindful of this and have your wits about you when travelling.  He quoted us 80 euros but then tried to charge us 110 when we got there, and Rob said he'd pressed the meter several times during the trip to make the cost tick up faster. I'd put 90 euros aside for the taxi + a tip for the driver, so when he tried to argue I said I only had 90 euros and he could take it or leave it and we could call a policeman to come and decide what we should do. He said 'OK' and took the 90 euros. If he'd not tried so blatantly, and it had come in at closer to 90 euros than 80 for the journey, I still would have tipped him, so by being dishonest he did himself out of some cash. Oh well. No skin off my nose lol.

We braced ourselves for a busy and long security check but once we'd dropped our bags we were whisked straight through and were into departures much earlier than expected.
I had a look in the fancy shops for a laugh, then bought some macaroons from Laduree for my amazing Mother in Law and best friend who had been animal and house sitting for us, then we had some coffee and cake and before we knew it it was time for boarding.

I'll be honest, I've never been so glad to see England. We had a fantastic trip in the end and Disney went above and beyond as far as I am concerned to try and keep the guests happy, but the relief that flooded through me once we landed and I knew we really were safe now was startling.

Saturday night, 24 hours after we got home, was the first time I was left alone. My husband was at work, and I got the kids off to bed and ran myself a nice bubblebath. And I sat in that bath and cried. All the fear and stress and all the emotions I'd been hiding with a brave face while we'd been away all came out and I flipping well let them. I felt so much better after, it was cathartic.

It hasn't put me off going there again, but its certainly put me off visiting the capital for the foreseeable future.

I've been asked if we saw Santa, and no we didn't bother. Mainly because I heard so many people complaining that it was terribly basic and they had seen better Santa's in shopping centres in the UK (and better "grottos"), but also because the girls themselves said they wanted to see 'their' Santa. We've been going to the same place since they were very young and its the same guy every year and he always remembers them. It's lovely.

I know my eldest probably doesn't believe in Santa anymore but its like an unspoken thing between us, she hasn't admitted it and I haven't asked, and she goes along with it for her sisters sake  ;)

For transfer from CDG directly to our hotel and back we used one of the private transfers. It was 70 euro each trip for the five of us ( I think it's 60 for four as a smaller car is needed). It was a complete hassle free option. We had booked the service well before, settled a meeting time with them and payed the driver at the end of the trip.

We had return travel sorted for the original end date of the trip, but because we extended we played it by ear on the last day. I'll definitely get a private transfer or the tgv again next time  ;)

It's awesome that you could extend your holiday and as a prize you got some incredible small waiting times for attractions.

What wonderful photos - glad to see you managed to still enjoy yourselves despite the "upheaval" shall we say.
I usually try to go to DLP for my birthday (November 16th) but this year me and my family went to Spain instead, never have I been so glad not to be at my favourite place, but at the end of the day we cannot allow minority groups to dictate how we live our lives.
Hope the characters are back in the hotels on a permanent basis as it is great having them there.

Thanks guys, you're all so sweet. We're a bit Christmas mad in our house so it was amazing to be there during the Christmas season, and we've come away with happy memories which is all we wanted  ;D

Ilovemainst- yes we them from the first store on the right of main Street next to the arcade entrance, I can't remember the price though I'm sorry. I'm guessing between 10-20 euros xx

Ilovemainstreet they're at most ships, but look around for ones in packaging rather than ones just hanging on their own.  I got mine from meet Mickey Mouse in a wrapper. They're 10 Euros and look AMAZING at night around everyone's necks :)

Mike is in Walt Disney Studios, if you go straight through the entrance part with the stores / fast food and come out into the park itself, then immediately turn right and go to the edge of the building and its tucked away down the side there. There are even scream-o-meters for the kids to test how much power their screams would generate  ;)
