Title: "The Time Machine"-Attraction for Discoveryland
Post by: TVTaughtMeHowToFeel on July 05, 2013, 03:11:30 PM
Hi :)

I know that at this point the "Star Wars"-Mini-Land is most likely to happen, but in my perfect world it would be built over at the studios where it belongs... This would leave the space which is currently occupied by star tours, star traders, captain eo and maybe Pizza Planet totally empty which would be an opportunity to build a brand new attraction, which would fit Discoverylands initial theming (which is a future envisioned by great minds of the past like jules verne, leonardo da vinci and H.G. Wells, who wrote the novel "the time machine"), and would be unique to disneyland Paris. :)
I don't know exactly how i would realise it or what kind of ride it would be... but i guess the imagineers would have some great ideas... Maybe it could be some kind of dark ride where you ride through different times and palces.
And If there's still some space they could build a "Journey to the center of the earth"-attraction like they did in tokyo next to it...
Last but not least to make discoveryland perfect again, they'd have to change space mountain back to its former glory, tear down Pizza Planet and build a REAL one at the studios next to Toy Story Playland, and move buzz lightyear astro blasters there as well (this would make space for another new attraction :D ) .

So please share your thoughts... :)

I love that idea, as an avid reader of Victorian sci-fi books that would be a great addition to the park. i'd personally like a War of the Worlds one, but I don't think you could get away with that in dlrp :P
Btw have you read any jules verne books?

unfortunately not yet... but it's definitely on my list!!! I just love those themes he has written about. And they could incorporate a lot more of it in Disneyland... But as it seems right now they are rather moving away from it than enhancing it :( ... it started with the cheap addition of "Pizza Planet" and did go further with the change of space mountain and the invasion of Buzz Lightyear in Le Visionarium. If Star Wars miniland is coming (as much as i appreciate Star Wars and even Pixar), they might as well change the whole theme and rename Discoveryland to "George Lucas/Pixar"-land, or something like that. There was a time when Disney could create wonderful attractions without relying on franchises (even though i like those attractions too), and i think they should start to do that more again.

Sorry that I answered your question, with yet another rant about how DLP fails to meet my expectations  :D But i had to get it off my chest

and War of the Worlds... Why not?! :)

That's ok :D I have a lot of problems with discoveryland myself.  I'm not to sure if a wotw ride would get in the toddlers, I wouldn't want a giant animatronic tri-pod shooting strobe effects at me :P

Its not exactly kid friendly Disney is it? :p
come to think of it, neither was the black hole or the watcher in the woods, but Disney still made those.
