Hi,
Since i found no official topic covering this spot in Frontierland, i thought i would start one myself... :)
Originally Critter Coral was a petting farm but changed into the character meet and greet "Woody's Roundup Village" a few years ago. Until last year, when it was used as a temporary "Meet Mickey" location... but what happened, when the real thing opened over at Fantasyland??? As far as I know Woody did not return... and this spot wasn't marked on the map in 2012...
Is it marked this year? Are there any plans for it (other than "Woody")?
Please help... I'm very curious ;)
this area is used for Santa's Workshop during christmas season, as well as for temporary smaller shows/stages probably
thanks :)
but there's no permanent solution like woody's roundup village?
that leaves the whole cottonwood creek ranch area kind of dead, except for the railroad station.
sad :(
It is such a waste of space. They need to develop it more. Even at Christmas they still could do a lot more in that area. At least when the animals were there visitors had something to look at.

I agree...
but I have faith in the good thing :) maybe they are working on something... here's hoping ;)
Just an idea, but how about an extension from the Cowboy Cookout Barbeque, a little barbeque pit area would fit in nicely. Although, there is a downside... Thunder Mesa Train Station/Frontierland Station is next to the rundown Critter Coral...So that could spark up some health and safety issues...

not a bad idea... :)
Is it still abandoned??? Does anyone know anything?... now that the busy summer season is about to begin^^
If nobody comes back with a response, I will let you know after our trip next week. I just think it is so sad to just leave an area like this abandoned.
I agree, extending the Cowboy Cookout BBQ would at least give it some purpose.
The whole area is abandoned at the moment, not derelict as it is kept relatively neat and tidy, but abandoned. When you get off the train at Frontierland station you walk past the abandoned theatre, the abandoned Critter Coral, and the old west wind pump. The first thing that you come to that is in regular use is the Cowboy Cookout and around the corner to the childrens play area. It does seem amazing that it is not in use for something like a meet and greet to breathe some life into the area. On the upside, the area is nice and quiet on a busy day!(//http://i767.photobucket.com/albums/xx319/PeteHawke/7cca0a21-1887-4aeb-aef9-17ebdb9d68c9_zps9f530fce.jpg) (//http://s767.photobucket.com/user/PeteHawke/media/7cca0a21-1887-4aeb-aef9-17ebdb9d68c9_zps9f530fce.jpg.html)
It's such a shame that it's left like that! Even if they did have plans for it in the long run, it could be used for meet and greets for the time being without having to make any changes. Meet and greets could be better there because they could be more organised rather than having the mad scrums!

I think so too... just simple "entertainment", nothing big, would be enough.
And I guess there's something positive about everything :D

I agree with you... In my oppinion it would be very easy to set up another meet and greet, or simply bring back "Woody's Roundup Village", the old decorations are probably still lying around somewhere.
I didn't know they actually closed Woody's Roundup, I loved taking silly pictures there :( Since when has it been shut?

Since late 2011 / early 2012... I don't know the exact date. :-\
It is such a shame how DLP allow good spaces to go to waste. A nice simple idea would do eg. a character lead Hoedown would be nice. Something in keeping with the area, that can bring a bit of life to a ghost town and give people a reason to go that far into Frontierland.
Or you could create a Ghost Town, that is made purposely
It's a great place for a meet and greet, you could have plenty of different characters throughout the day!
Now that Christmas is over, and Santa left for the North Pole, I wonder if they'll do something with the area this year or if it will stay empty again till November when Santa's back. :-\
Let's hope they'll do something!
That area of Frontierland is so quiet now, the Chaparral Theatre is closed, Critter Corral is closed, only the train station us open there's nothing else to go up there for.
