Title: Pictures: Euro Disneyland in 1992
Post by: sven on January 03, 2013, 09:59:08 AM
Hi,

I found this thread in a german forum. Pictures from the second weekend of the park:
//http://freizeitparkweb.de/cgi-bin/dcf/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&forum=DCForumID39&om=4235&omm=1&viewmode=

Not exactly a trip report, so I decided to put it here :)

The thread contains pictures of other parks from that year, in comparison the level of theming is impressive. The opening of Disneyland must have been a shock for the european park operators. No park was anywhere near the level of perfection shown there.

Wow- that is really very impressive, thank you for sharing.
I'm only familiar with Europapark and have to admit that, at least with their new rides, the have catched up regarding themening.
But none of them has this Disney magic and pixie dust that only DLRP has. And this is unique to DRLP and the reason I come back again and again- the atmosphere.
Whilst for Europapark I only go to experience the rides.

The HUGE dragon up by Thunder Mountain in the picture, was a float (Sleeping Beauty) in an old parade.

Thanks for posting that. My son was born exactly two months before the park opened so its fab to see pics from that time. We were lucky enough to get to see the Main Street Electrical Parade, the music was way too catchy and very cheesy but it all added to the fun.  :D

Here's a picture of the Dragon in the parade taken in 1993 (sorry about the quality)

We went for a day trip in 1992 and took loads of photos, but my camera went wrong and I only ended up with a couple of decent ones. I'll look them out and try to scan them.

there are some real memories for us, we first went in 1993 and missed out on going on the canoes as the queues were always so long, and they are the only ride we have not gone on in either park, Its also good to see discoveryland as it was when it first opened with the grass bank instead of space mountain.

When Disneyland Paris or "EuroDisney" first opened it had the most spectacular parade! There were some photos of it in it's entirety a few years ago which have since been removed - does anyone have anymore?

Here are some excellent videos that I've come across tonight, the first shows the Keelboats and twinkling lights on Central Plaza in all their glory!

The second shows the first parade: (First five minutes is travelling)

Here's one of the floats we saw in 1993, it was in the original parade in 1992.
I am still in the middle of scanning old photos of Disney from 1993 - 2000 pre my digital camera days.

I have put this in as it has warm memories of that very first time at Disney, after Donald & Daisy cuddled they came over to cuddle my son don't have a photo but at least my husband caught it on video.

I wished the canoes were still there. I would love to ride them. My 1st visit was in 1994. So i've seen this parade, for example. The dragon was able to spit fire. These pics totally remind me of my 1st stay which was such a great experience as we never expected Disneyland Paris to be as beautiful as it (still) is.
