Title: Futuristic Walt Disney Studios
Post by: adamguy_6 on January 11, 2007, 10:05:10 PM
What MY grand plan is for WDS come 2012 lol

Ignore the drab graphics around the map, its simply letting you know the attractions in each land.

Well done Adamguy, I think it's quite a good idea but what would happen to Star Tours in Discoveryland if that were to happen?

I took the attitude that Euro Disney SCA Are not going to be able to afford to fund a constant stream of completely new attractions to fill up WDS by 2012.

In this case, Star Tours would simply be moved from Discoveryland and put into a new show building in Walt Disney Studios (Where I feel it would fit much better.)

Many know that the existing Star Tours building in DL Park is looking worn - especially with the games area that you walk out through. By moving Star Tours, you would be able to close up the old building - not needing to pay for a refurb until a new attraction is placed there. You are also getting a new attraction at the Studios (in the eyes of many 'less knowledgeable' guests to the resort.) I just felt moving it would be a cost effective, win-win situation.

If you look closely, this idea of simply moving things about is quite prominent in what I would plan for the park. The majority of money spent over the next five years would be spent more on beautification. "Studio Tram Tour" has just had its entrance pushed back, but the 'Reign of Fire' and 'Catastrophe Canyon' show sets are in exactly the same place that they are now. Instead, old roads have been simply built over by the 'New Backlot' plan, which involve the moved Star Tours attraction and a 'Disney Studios' Lake. (No real development needed for Star Tours, and a relatively cheap lake to fill up space. Imagine the views of the Tower across a lake though!) A new show set which digs up the old plans for 'Journey to the centre of the Earth' has been constructed at the very back of the Tram Tour, with a variety of houses and film items placed throughout the new tram road network.

Hollywood studio has been changed to Hollywood Boulevard. Lining either side of the studios version of 'Mainstreet' are Hollywood style facades containing shops and a new restaurant. Not only will this create a street which frames both the Tram Tour Entrance and Studio One, but it also creates the feeling of a gigantic outdoor Hollywood set. It will tie in the idea of the Tower of Terror much better. It is, after all, supposed to be themed on a Hollywood hotel.

The old Backlot, with the addition of "Fantasmic" would now become a courtyard dedicated to the art of stunts and special effects. It ties in the pyrotechnic and performance style of the show, with the themes of the Stunt show and Armageddon. It also is the best location for such a loud firework and performance show, as it is the furthest point away from Disneyland.

Finally, another cheap (And cheeky) way to advertise a "new attraction" at the studios is to replace Animagique with Mickey's Philarmagic. Cost effective in that you will not have to pay live performers for performances. Guest effective as it will be able to take a steady amount of guests constantly, instead of having pre-determined "Show Times."

I think I covered everything. Forgive the bad writing, but I've been up since VERY early lol!

I agree, I think Star tours would work well in WDS, Discoveryland needs more of the "discovery" put back into it, it's my least favourite land and I can easily got to DLRP without visiting it. Seems to me that even the Buzz lazerblast wast put there just to increase visitors - move Buzz to WDS also and redevelop parts of Discoveryland

That looks really good! One of my favourite parts is the lake next to Star Tours - it fits in very well there!

One thing I want to point out is the position of Fantasmic. I sure there is the railway track coming out of Marne La Vallee there... I'm not 100% sure though.

It would be great if it all really happened

No It does, and realistically, the only thing you could do is alter the Q for RnRC and place a small boulevard between that and The Stunt Show.

I guess the benefits of this means it opens up an access path so attractions could be placed behind the stunt show and onto the fields!

I really like this idea. Very nice, particularly the Backlot expansion.

Well, I am afraid that this has already been rumoured a lot and, if Philharmagic does come to Paris, it would most likely replace Animagique.  :(

The trouble is that Animagique and Philarmagic are so alike that even if the latter didn't go in Studio 3 Animagique would probably still be axed.

The lake could become the site for Fantasmic.

They could either completely destroy or just make the Costume Building smaller to fit Start Tours in.
