Stitch Live!
at Walt Disney Television Studios
Confirmed for 2008, probable opening 22nd March 2008
Soft openings in the fortnight before

Using a similar concept to 'Stitch Encounter' at Hong Kong Disneyland, guests can interact live with Stitch on a giant screen, using a live voice artists and state of the art real-time computer animation.

The attraction replaces the TV Production Tour at Walt Disney Television Studios, using the same queue and pre-show room with the actual performance theatre and giant screen housed in the central production stage, formerly featuring an 'Art Attack' theme. The interactive post-show of Disney Channel-themed games is expected to return. Hinted in the official 2008 holiday brochure, it is now confirmed that the "story" of the attraction will indeed see guests enter Disney Channel Studios to interview Stitch via a live satellite link-up with outer space.

QuoteStitch attraction with the WDS!
According to an internal source of the direction of Disney Euro, a new attraction should be born in collaboration with Disney Channel: Stitch Encounter.

For a budget of 5 million euros, attraction should be born in one of the abandoned studios of the building Disney Channel. The concept would be obviously the same one as in HongKong but in a little more reduced.

There's a bit more info at Disneytheque (Sorry about the translator!)

QuoteOctober 2, 2006
It was known that 2007 would be the year of 3 new attractions in the park but this week, new bounce! One the 4th attraction received the green light and will be located at Production Courtyard, précisemment in the building of Disney Channel: it is about Stitch Encounter. Opened this summer in HongKong Disneyland, Stitch Encounter is an animation identical to Turtle Talk with Crush, where the visitors can dialogue on line with Stitch. For the moment, its launching is scheduled for November 2007 and should logically occupy the old plate sheltering Zapping Zone. The Redhead on Disney Central Plaza gives some precise details on the show. It will be held 4 times per hour and in 3 different languages (French, English and Spanish).

There is no doubt that this animation considerably will reinforce the interest for this "pseudo-attraction" where one could not better hope like addition and with the sight of success which this type of animation gains.

I just saw this at Disneytheque!! Wow!!

It doesn't fit in Production Courtyard / Hollywood Studio, but they have a brilliant languages plan there, and... wow!

I've never been more happy that they're doing everything possible to improve WDS, it's like they've got a checklist of "things to improve" and they're ticking one off each week! :)

It's nice that they are willing to improve the worst attraction in the park, but this is not how I would do it. :?

Hey, sounds very good! I'm still asking myself what there could be special with the Disney Channel Building  :-k So they're really on a great way to improve the Studios!

Although I must confess that I haven't really understood the function of this new Stitch-attraction

Quote from: "Nala_84"Although I must confess that I haven't really understood the function of this new Stitch-attraction
This video of the Crush version makes it much clearer what goes on:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 8526801486 (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5014817398526801486)

Basically, you're in a room looking at a giant screen showing a real-time animated CGI Stitch, and the "host" gets audience members to ask questions, shout things out and so on... and then Stitch responds and makes actions accordingly, controlled by a CM somewhere backstage.  It's got the "wow" factor because of the seamlessness of how it all seems to work, as if the character is really there...

This is what happens in the HKDL version:

Quote from: "Wikipedia"Guests are invited to visit Space Traffic Control for a tour. Space Traffic Control (or STC) is the nerve center for this quadrant of the galaxy and where all space traffic is closely monitored. The tour goes as planned until the host is interrupted by Stitch, a fluffy blue mischievous alien known also as "Experiment Number 626" in a "borrowed" space ship. Stitch interacts in real time with the guests, plays games with the kids and even teaches everyone how to speak Hawaiian. Ultimately, Stitch's nemesis, Gantu shows up and wants his ship back. It is up to the guests in the audience to help Stitch escape! The show is a combination of action and comedy, and never the same show twice.

According to "soundtracker" at MiceChat:

"I've just spoken to my friend who works with the DLRP Imagineering Dpt., and he's confirmed that this is going ahead. The "interactive" Art Attack studio is to be gutted next year and replaced with Stitch Encounter."

Art Attack.. does this include CyberSpace Mountain aswell? Its the only thing I would like them to save. Or am I wrong with this? Maybe someone can explain what Art Attack exactly contains.

I'm really excited about this attraction. I would not go to Paris especially to see it, but it seems like a great small addition. I don't really care about the wrong placement. Ofcourse I can comment about the fact that Crush would fit better then Stitch and that it could be placed at Toon Studio, but I don't bother to be honest. Stitch Encounter really has the wow-factor if I may believe the reports, so that can only be a positive thing at the Walt Disney Studios.

Just one thing came in mind; imagine its June 2008 and Stitch Encouter is open for about half a year. At the very same time Lilo & Stitch Cath the Wave Party is performed at the Procution Courtyard Stage (just imagine, maybe the show is already replaced by then), how are they going to explain the fact that you can talk live to Stitch at the Television Studio, while when people leave the building they see he is at the Catch the Wave Party show. It doesn't seem like a big deal, but I compare it to seeing two Mickey's at the same time. Thats simply impossibly at the world of Disney. The only reason to avoid this is replacing Catch the Wave Party with a new non-Stitch show.
Title:

Thanks for the news, this is actually going to be something to really look forward to!

And don't worry - the Art Attack stage is separate to CyberSpace.  In the second room of the "tour", it's the stage you look out onto through the one-way glass.  It's where they used to film Zapping Zone.

Here's a plan I quickly did:

I did it from memory so I don't know how accurate it is.  The white areas of the building are outside but covered, the light grey are indoors and part of the "tour", the dark grey are backstage studio areas.  Hope that helps.
Title:
Post by: Kristof on October 10, 2006, 11:52:37 PM
In my opinion, if they keep the Disney Channel idea behind the whole building, then there isn't such thing as a wrong placement for this attraction.

This used to be a problem with Animagique as Mickey has just left the stage in his normal clothes, and as soon as the audience left the theatre they saw Mickey at his old carvan location in his totally different studio clothes, this within 30 seconds.

People will just put it down to Disney Magic.  :)

I found some information about Stitch Encounter at Hong Kong Disneyland, according to TDLFAN at Micechat. Beware for spoilers!

QuoteThe theater set itself is better decorated than Crush's theater at the Living Seas, which this show mimics in format. Here however... the element of interactivity goes one step further. The show plot revolves around Stitch stealing an intergalatic cruiser and going for a joy ride in space. We catch up with him and the interview format begins... similar to Talk with Crush. Stitch picks out guests from the audience and asks questions... sometimes proposes to some lovely gal in the audience, or mistakes a guest for one of his former prison mates in space. This is where the interactivity goes one step further than Talk with Cruch. At times... we see Stitch pull a camera and take a picture of any particular guest in the audience. Then we get to see the picture on the stage, when Stitch shows it to us. Beware of that if you are camera shy but still would like to see this show. Later on, we even help Stitch find his way to his own spaceship when the Space patrol is up to catching him for his mischevious behavior.

And according to Katsmom at Micechat Lilo sometimes joins the show too. It seems like a great small addition to our Studios don't you think?!  8)

Wow, that sounds brilliant!

And so perfectly suited to the TV Studios too - it won't be hard to explain it as some kind of "live satellite link-up" interview with Stitch in outer space. :D

Stitch Encounter is rumoured to be in the "Art Attack" stage - see the map posted above. It won't replace the CyberSpace interactive area.

Hmm, so it won't replace something and it'll be an additional attraction?! Well, then it's just cool :) Although I'm a bit angry they won't translate it in German and, instead, in Spanish  :?
Title:
Post by: Kristof on October 19, 2006, 06:03:16 PM
Probably because there are more Spanish visitors than German.

Of course that's the reason, I know! That "why" was just a rhetorical question ;)

But I can't understand why German Disney fans are punished more and more: We don't get the same Special Edition DVDs (instead DVDs with almost no extras), we don't have a Disney Store anymore etc...

Well, we never ever even had a Disney Store here in the Netherlands. We don't have a Disney Channel either. I'm not really into the DVDs but I heard that we often don't have Special Editions either (remember Pocahontas). So please, don't think that the German fans are the only ones who get punished, the Dutch are suffering too.

*Cheers*

The sooner this opens the better, it's yet another perfect addition to the Studios, and fairly cheap too for the effect it'll have on that attraction. :)

I guess they'll change the Disney Channel sign outside to one mentioning Stitch Encounter?

Hopefully they won't change the beautiful building itself much.

From WDSFans.com (//http://www.photosmagiques.com/wdsfans/news/news.php#newsitemEEyuAplkkEAJakLsJj):

QuoteStitch or no Stitch?

Word has reached WDSfans.com that Imagineers have started designing the attraction for the Disney Channel building, despite the fact that there hasn't been a green light from DLRP managment.  It turns out that the Entertainment department isn't thrilled to have a Stitch related attraction near the Production Courtyard stage where every summer the enormously popular Lilo & Stitch Catch the Wave Party show is performed...

To be continued.
I can understand them being annoyed at the thought of having to stop the show because of Stitch Encounter, but there's one major thing here: Catch the Wave is only on for 3 months, Stitch Encounter would be year-round.  I think that cancels out the impact of this on what is really just a small summer show, however popular.

Am I one of the only people that doesn't like the sound of this idea?

I mean, don't get me wrong, I don't particularly like the Disney Studios and am glad there is a new attraction planned there but surely something like Philharmagic would make more sense. Anyone with me?
Title:
Post by: Kristof on February 21, 2007, 06:36:29 PM
I'm not honestly.  Philharmagic is a beautiful attraction, but they would need to build a complete new infrastructure to house that attraction.  Stitch Encounter fits perfectly in the Television Tour building and doesn't need much construction.
Title:
Post by: Poppy The Monkey on February 21, 2007, 06:37:08 PM
I agree in a way, but Disney Channel Tour is higher up on the must be improved list then Animagique which is rumoured to be earmarked for replacement by Philharmagic in the distant future.

And Stitch is already hugely popular in Hong Kong and Turtle Talk with Crush is hugely popular in DCA and Epcot - so it isn't a bad addition.

My only concern is the language issues and the fact that certain visitors are unable to enjoy the attraction at all.

On the same note The Stitch Encounter was offically announced at the Shareholders Meeting today.

I like it! I like the fact that they didn't throw the Disney Channel concept away. Thematically its a clever move to make a connection between Stitch Encounter and the Disney Television Studios. I also like how they keep the new elements in style with what is already there.

Only one critical note; hopefully the satelite themeing won't get too spacy if you know what I mean. Although it fits the attraction perfectly, you have to remember that this area will become Hollywood Studio with the Hollywood Tower Hotel across the street. Maybe it would clash, but after seeing these beautiful concept arts today I'm confident everything will turn out fine!  :)

Official press release for the Stitch Encounter attraction:

Quote from: "WDSfans.com"Utilizing the latest real-time computer graphics animation technology created by Walt Disney Imagineering, a new interactive Stitch attraction opens in spring 2008 at Walt Disney Studios Park.
The attraction lets guests talk, listen, joke and play with the fuzzy, lovable alien first introduced to audiences in Walt Disney Pictures' hit comedy, "Lilo & Stitch"."Because of the interactivity and immersion of this new experience, the guests are the "stars" of the production along with Stitch himself", said Tom Fitzgerald, executive president and senior creative executive, Walt Disney Imagineering.
As Guests enter the theater, a Space Traffic Controller scans a galactic communications screen for "active" alien traffic. Stitch is quickly summoned to talk, joke and even flirt, engaging the audience in spontaneous conservation. The show is never the same twice -- whether Stitch plays his guitar, dances around the bridge of the spaceship or takes digital photographs of audience members. And no matter where guests are seated, Stitch seems and engages them in non-stop banter.
"It's the latest milestone in Walt Disney Imagineering's legacy of bringing Disney characters to life", said Fitzgerald.

Yeah, it must be... that new Monsters Inc Laugh Floor at Magic Kingdom was in testing for ages before it opened (it has opened now, right?  It seems to have been totally forgotten about).  With this they've obviously already got the HKDL version sorted, but I don't know how long it'd take to add French to that and rehearse.

I suppose it just depends when they want to open it - a November opening would probably be fine, but they'd be better off holding it back till February/March.

Here's a piece of the current Walt Disney Studios parkmap. It seems that the attraction won't be called Stitch Encounter after all, but just Walt Disney Television Studios. Or could it be that this is just a temporary project name? Well, either way, both names seem fine to me.  :)

And if you click it, it opens up a questionnaire about what they should call the new attraction:

QuoteA totally new amazing and interactive attraction for the whole family will open at Disneyland Resort Paris. The Disney Character, Stitch, from the popular film Lilo & Stitch, will play, joke and will even have a conversation with you. This is a first-of-its-kind, real-time animated interaction.

We have several ideas for the name of this attraction and we should like to have your opinion.

The names are:
  Stitch Interactive
  Stitch Live
  Stitch

Strangley, Stitch Encounter hasn't been included in the list!

You can find the link here (//http://parks.disneylandparis.co.uk/walt-disney-studios-park/lots/toon-studio/index.xhtml)

Ooh a guest questionnaire! Thanks for the link. Remember the Laser Blast one when they ended up not going with any of the names on the survey?

So which name did everyone choose? I thought 'Stitch: Live' fits the bill perfectly.

No "Stitch Encounter" anymore? :( They always publish names and then they change them when I was accustomed to them...

But I like it that they offer the guests to decide, they should do that more often now :)!
I don't know whether I should take Stitch LIVE or INTERACTIVE. Simply Stitch would be so silly :D

Hehe I know, it's as if they just couldn't think of a third option.

'Interactive' makes me think of a computer games company, like Disney Interactive or something.  'Live' would be better for the TV studio setting and I think everyone understands the words "Stitch" and "Live".  For once they have a new name I'd prefer to the original (no Buzz Lightyear's Cosmic Adventure here  ).

There's my pitch, vote "Stitch: Live!". :P
Title:

Yeah, that makes sense... Interactive would really remind on a computer game...

You've got a talent to help someone find a decision! So I'll vote for Stitch: Live :D

I'm going for Stitch Interactive.

I think Stitch Live makes it sound like a stage show with characters, which it isn't.  I that's what I thought it was, I wouldn't go and see it.

I wouldn't be surprised if they opted for neither in the end though.  This may just be market research to find out which aspect of the attraction people are most excited about:

Stitch interactive = I get to interact with Stitch - audience in charge
Stitch live = I get to watch Stitch - Stitch in charge
Stitch = I'll see anything with Stitch in it - ?!

Once they've found out which one appeals most, they'll come up with the real name based on that.

Please don't point and laugh when March comes around and they open "Stitch Live!"

Thanks for the video! After all those stories and press releases its quite interesting to see a small glimpse of the actual show. I get the March 2008 thinking though. They can still make a lot more money and visitors out of Crush and Cars before then.

did any construction already started at the building? and is hollywood blvd and production courtyard not the same anymore since the concept art doesn't fit into a hollywood themed area and on the new map it also looks like hollywood blvd will be a new land at the studios, is something already official?
Title:
Post by: Anthony on September 27, 2007, 04:37:06 PM
No changes have been made outside (they don't plan to do much anyway - check the concept art, it's a perfectly nice building), we've got to assume something is going on inside by now...

Hollywood Boulevard discussion doesn't really belong here, but upon opening I can see it being classed as a new land, before they eventually complete the placemaking (Theater District) in the rest of Production Courtyard and the whole thing becomes Hollywood Studio. Makes sense, don't you think? :)
Title:
Post by: Whoknew? on September 27, 2007, 05:23:55 PM
Indeed, but to bringing this huge building into a theatre/hollywood style isn't a piece of cake, anyway.

Title:
Post by: Kristof on September 27, 2007, 05:56:24 PM
The big antenna on the façade will be replaced by a large satellite dish, which delivers, according to the attraction's story, the connection to outer space. This and the attraction logo should be the only major changes on the building itself.

When the Theatre District project starts around Production Courtyard Stage, the building should be covered by faux streetsets which the guests have to go through to reach the actual show building.  So the building will not be re-dressed, it will be somewhat hidden behind a Hollywood set or two.
Title:
Post by: penfold12 on September 27, 2007, 06:04:09 PM

The recording studios weren't being used for quite some time now.  Disney Channel moved out to a different location.

Did you ever visited the Tour?  The only thing you saw was the controlcenter where all the feeds were send out to Europe.  That's the only thing that's being kept in the building, but will be shielded off.

^^ Ahh a little visible progress, thanks! The people working on this attraction are certainly doing a good job of keeping things secret. We've got no idea what the new configuration will be in there.

Some major news though - the opening schedule, from Devil on DCP:

Quote from: "DLRP Today"So, for the cast members presenting the show and providing the voice and movements of Stitch...

From mid-January to March 2008 (6 weeks) — training and rehearsals for performers.

In March 2008 (or end February) — 2 days of training for regular operational cast members

Then, where it gets very exciting for us...

SOFT OPENING (2 weeks) — 8th to 21st March 2008

OFFICIAL OPENING — 22nd March 2008
This seems 99% confirmed. They like the 22nd of the month lately, don't they?

Will they get rid of Disney Channel entirely, or is it just the sign? I knew they were planning a Stitch sign like one can see on the concept art, but I do hope they will stick to the Disney Channel theme overall (and not a the bland Walt Disney Television Studios name), especially when Playhouse Disney will open in the same building next year.  :?

By the way; is the sattelite dish able to rotate? If thats the case, it would be a great addition to the theme and a great way to add synergy to this corner of the park.
Title:
Post by: Anthony on November 25, 2007, 07:09:40 PM
They do seem to be sticking with Walt Disney Television Studios (I agree, not so good), but I'm sure the Disney Channel brand and theme will still be very much around.

They should rename the building to Disney Channel Studios really. With all this 1950s Hollywood themeing around, it's a shame they probably won't pay tribute to Walt's own work in television during that exact time. Davy Crockett, Zorro, the Disneyland shows... really deserves a mention here.

Doesn't look like the satellite dish can rotate.. I kinda hope it doesn't, might look a bit cheap? :?

I also wonder what will happen to the big video screen when Hollywood expands... (the one with only about 50% of its pixels working  )

It would be nice if they would add some sort of timeline in the queue area or inside the building (similar to One Man's Dream at the Disney-MGM Studios but instead of focusing on Walt Disney they can focus on the history of Disney and its television achievements). Like you said Baloo, from Davy Crockett, Zorro, Disneyland, Wonderful World of Disney, Mickey Mouse Club (including the present day stars it brought us like Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake etc) to modern day classics like Lizzy McGuire, Kim Possible, High School Musical. They can also focus on Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Ugly Betty and Lost. When I think about it, maybe Walt Disney Television Studios would fit beter then Disney Channel Studios in this case.

QuoteDoesn't look like the satellite dish can rotate.. I kinda hope it doesn't, might look a bit cheap? :?

Personally I don't think it would look cheap, but I guess thats just a matter of one's personal taste. I dont want it to rotate fast or anything, but slow and infrequently so that it might look like the sattelite dish is searching for the right frequency to get in touch with Space Traffic Control. :)

QuoteI also wonder what will happen to the big video screen when Hollywood expands... (the one with only about 50% of its pixels working  )

Is it broken? Thats a bad show! I never knew that. Personally I always liked the videoscreen because it adds some movement to this corner of the park. But it might indeed look quite out of place once this corner will become Theatre District. For some reason I just hope it will stay, I can't put my finger on it why it should really. :P

Maybe...

I never said it wasn't working, it just has dead areas.

They seem to leave it on 24hrs a day (you can see it from the hub really bright at night, so much for saving the earth, lol) which is probably why. I like it too though, the corner would be really dull without it. Maybe in the future we'll have something interesting there without needing a screen running promos?

I quite like your idea for the dish slowly "scanning" and now and then Maarten, I had must have had visions of it swirling round and round...

Is it just me or should they refurbish the whole disney channel building also? The yellow doesn't seem that nice anymore!

Post by: Anthony on November 29, 2007, 08:12:31 PM
It does come very close! But a completely different style - the placemaking has had its influence, it's not plain and modern any more. First thought was "Yuk, what are they doing?" when I first looked at it, but then I realised the illustration of Stitch is actually a very 1950s style. It reminds me of that segment of the Desperate Housewives opening or an old-fashioned comic book. Awesome.

Fingers crossed the letters look good too... and, err, they repaint the building before opening, that's a real yuk. Edit: @Japper: Yep, it's needed it for ages.

Oh but I only just realised - they added a '!' at the end of the title!! I think I hoped for that when they first announced the possible names. This stuff matters, it does. Stitch Live!

What do you think? "Ding Ding! Round 1 to WDS"? The WDS version looks expensive compared to theirs!! I really like how it looks now.

It's actually the same Stitch drawing -- weird feet and large head included -- but the WDS version has been shaded in all '50s stylee rather than cheap animation style.

I guess we can expect a times board sometime? The same as the concept again, perhaps? Hopefully not a nasty scrolling display like CineMagique and above...

Uhm.. That's the hole point of the attraction isn't it? :D He is there inside to meet and talk to the guests through live connection in space. So it will be weird if he is just standing outside. :)

If the timewindow between to shows is big enough, he can show up, to invite the guests in his upcoming show.

Probably only one theatre, but since shows will be quite short (15-20mins, about?), it makes sense to let a queue for the next show start filling up at the same time.

It's the same as the Riverboat Landing in Frontierland, actually.

Probably not, no.

The banner looks brilliant. Great colours, okay-ish logo, amazing to see the WDS logo next to yet another "nouvelle attraction". It's getting really exciting to see this and the Tower promoted across the resort now - Crush and Cars are still so fresh. Visitors are in for such a treat this year.

Only problem with it is that "prochainement" is hard to read, and since not everyone speaks French anyway I bet the CMs at WDS are starting to get asked why the "new attraction" that was advertised isn't open.

The banners looks great indeed. I know I haven't always been that positive about the graphic design team of Disneyland Resort Paris in the past, but it seems they are getting better and better at it. Not only this Stitch Live banner, but the Tower of Terror and Toon Studio ones last years aswell. Way to go! :)

By the way, since the attraction is going to open next month, are they still planning to add the time schedule booth in front of the entrance like one can see on the concept art?

I can answer my own question now, since Scrooge posted a pic today at Disney Magic Interactive Forum...

To be honest, I was expecting a bit more from the time schedule frame, since the concept art showed an entirely different one. I'm slightly dissapointed, sorry.

Sorry if this was asked (12 pages, no way  :P ) but is this similar to the Magic Kingdom's Laugh Floor comedy club? I'm probably the only WDW fan that's okay with Stitch (including his attraction over here that usually has a 5 minute wait)

I live 90 mins away from Disney World and I have yet to see Monster's Inc: Laugh Floor Comedy Club, but I'm going this weekend thankfully and it's on my must-see list. Just so I can get a better feel for what this attraction will be like.

User Olivier made a post on the Mice Chat (//http://www.micechat.com) forums about Stitch Live! being tested by guests. Olivier was part of those guests and shared his story with the Mice Chat readers.

I copied his post, and put it here between spoiler tags, to make sure the attraction won't be spoiled for anyone.

[spoiler:w9vwzegp]I was in Paris this week and I've been to DLRP twice in tuesday and thursday. Large crowds and weather was bad both days, but overall I had a good time.

Thurday, while visiting the WDS I saw incidentally a group of guests in front Stitch Live! entering the Disney Channel building. I joined them and noticed that there were quite a lot of Disney staff, not only the regular CM but also suit and tie Disney staff that greeted us. A CM told us the show is in french (however eventually the show was in english) and we waited about 10 minutes in the first "waiting" room : the same as the former Disney Channel tour.
Then after waiting (in the cold) we entered the pre-show room. A wide room with blue lights, with 4 plasma screens airing the latest Disney channel releases. That presentation was in french.
Then a Disney imagineer greeted us and said he was so happy to welcome here the very first guests: Everyone cheered  and he apologized in advance for any technical issues that could occur as the show was still in rehearsal.

We entered the theater, where I sat on a not-so-comfortable metal bench. I already knew that the show is interactive so i chosed a seat in the rear of the theater so Stitch could certainly not bother me there.

The image quality was excellent and the animation was just perfect, considering the screen is quite large. Some Disney characters tell sometimes corny jokes, but Stitch was actually funny and people laughed a lot.
I didn't have high expectations about this show but in the end i found the attraction very cute and is definiteley a very good addition to the Studios (even if some may think that any addition is good for the WDS  )
My main concern about it is that the audience has to be "good" too. I mean if everyone stay distant and shy (a bit like me that day  ) the show can get boring I guess.

I think the attraction will open some days before official premiere. Anyone did it. What you think ?
[/spoiler:w9vwzegp]

Good to read such a positive story about an attraction that isn't even that big!

Well that looks GREAT! They've dressed it up a lot inside, it looks like a proper Disney attraction now. The dark lighting gives it a real atmosphere and mood, rather than just a series of empty, brightly lit rooms.

Is the giant oval thing the screens showing the Disney Channel pre-show promo? (which has really bad reviews! lol) If so, I just expected about four large plasma screens, so well done WDI for spending on something a bit more flashy.

And MASSIVE kudos to Karl Holz for dropping into the previews!!!! How many Disney chiefs do that anymore?! =D>

Stitch Live was open to regular park guests today. I managed to catch a couple of shows in both French and English, and to me the guests at the English shows appeared to enjoy it more, getting right into it - creating a better atmosphere and in turn better shows. Some of the French shows were rather subdued.

The show is very clever, and can be very entertaining - a super addition to the Walt Disney Studios.

stitch was most certainly open to the public. me and matthew done this show 6 simes in one day. he loved every minute of it especially when he was picked to talked to stitch too. stitch took a picture of him and it was apperently the best moment of his life, that was until an hour later when he had a private meeting with him for about ten minutes!!!!!!

I was at the Parcs from 8th till 13th. Every day Stich Live was open to the Public. Sometimes the English, sometimes the French Show. It is really cool! I go back to dlp this night for another three nights. I will give you more information when I am back.

Is there any point in going to see this if your aren't interested in talking to Stich, or do you think it will good to just sit and watch anyway?

What kind of things would you ask anyway?

It sounds great! We only went to the Walt Disney Television Studios once, and were not that impressed really. Now with Stitch Live! I'm sure we'll be visiting much more often.

With all the great new rides and attractions in the Studios, it's no longer a matter of just popping in for an hour or two a couple of times during our stay. (Usually 6 nights) The studios are becoming a place where you can easily stay the whole day, which we never did when they first opened.

Talk about "torn between two parks"!  :? You need a lot longer at DLRP now, to do and see everything (without rushing!)

This is definitely a time to celebrate and also be sad, our final new attraction for quite some time! I think we've got a bit too used to them...

It looks like there was a special Hawaiian pre-parade yesterday (in DLP for some reason, but maybe they did WDS earlier in the day?). Very very impressive DLRP. Their attraction openings have improved gradually.

The electronic signs are rather snazzy:

They count down the minutes to the next show and show the exact number of seats available. And say "debut imminent" when a show is about to start:

The electronic signs is a big service. I like the idea of showing how many seats are free and the minutes till start!  =D>

Seems they have many seats. how much guest per hour? :?:

Thats very cool! These kind of details make the theatre ticketbooth theming more confincing. However, it's still a pity that the time schedule frame in front of the Disney Channel building isn't as impressive and technologically advanced as the concept art showed us.

Hallo,
on my two Trips (9.-13 and 16-19 March) I made some Photos and Videos from Stitch Live! it was oped to all guests every day except the days which was reservated to Annual Dream Pass Holders.
It's a very cool show if you understand it! So if you don't speak french visit the english show! :-) We go the first to the French one because it was the last one on that day. We sat down in the last row because we think we can just watch the show from the back without talking to stitch. Wrong! :-) He picked out me! And asked me some questions. But luckily I could answer with my two french words :-)
On other days I saw the show in English and I have to say that I love the show! Very Funny! And well done! (Only at fast moves on the screen it is flickering (right word?)!

have fun with the Photos and Clips. Sorry that they are so short but I thought that stitch (or one of the cast members who stand behind us) may recognize that I was filming him...

I saw Stitch Live! last Wednesday and I was quite impressed. It was very clever and funny, especially when Stitch takes a photo of someone. I thought the preshow was a bit pointless and boring, but it was short so I didn't mind.

I would give this attraction 7/10. It's a nice addition to WDS, however I think it could easily get boring if you've seen it more than once.

The crowds are a great thing; it's just too bad they don't have nicer places to stand. Look at how barren that part of Production Courtyard still is...

The sudden popularity of the park seems like a bit of a two-sided coin in that way. The plain, cold queues of the park are one thing when you spend less than five minutes in them, but spending Big Thunder Mountain-style waiting times in there? I truly pity the people on those photos.

(None of this applies to the ToT, of course...)

Good ol' Tristane has just posted the official Stitch Live! footage they've been showing around the hotel TVs and so on:

[dailymotion:3cjpmsi9]x50wul[/dailymotion:3cjpmsi9]

I saw it a few times at the weekend, twice in English and once in French. The attraction is truly brilliant - absolutely beautiful animation on a lovely clear screen - so close to the original 2d film, a great cast of Stitchs who are very quick and funny and lots of clever games that turn out different almost every time.

One of the funniest things I've seen for a long time was when Stitch started flirting with a girl in the front row only for sarcastic laughs from the other side of the audience - to which he then turned around and said "Hey, shut it you!!"

Of course he picked me out as the space prisoner with my face on a 'Wanted' poster. Even if you're not the target age, it still gives you a funny buzz... that is the REAL Stitch talking to you. :o

I truly love this attraction!! We did it 2 times in english and both times where so different and so funny.
The reaction by Stitch on the reactions of the crowd are so good and funny.

For example:
[spoiler:181t8xyh]Like when spelling a name. He spelled it wrong 2 times. So some girl shouts "You spelled wrong!!" Stich reacted by voice and action "Stich never spells something wrong" (while facing the girl who called it out!) It makes it so realistic![/spoiler:181t8xyh]

My gratz to Disney for this great little "master" piece!  =D>

What a truly fantastic show! I don't think i've laughed so much in a long time! Managed to see an english version on Saturday and i was amazed by the technology, expecting to see some glitches but it was amazing! We had a very funny moment, when Stitch picked on a man in the audience, and when asking the name of the man, the man then replied 'PaulofromItaly'. Stich then goes 'PaulofromItaly...what a strange name, where are you from PaulofromItaly?' The man then replies 'From Italy', Stich: 'PaulofromItaly from Italy'. Set up for some very funny jokes!

Fantastic :D I reccomend it to all!

Oh I don't BELIEVE DLRP finally has a Stitch attraction! :D/  =D>  I'll be dragging my mum to it multiple times in August no doubt! I nearly died when I found Stitch's Great Escape in WDW 3 years ago, but this seems as though it's 1000 times better... Incidentally, in the WDW attraction, I got "spat on" by Stitch lol! I wasn't impressed, it wasn't water either, it was something thicker, like he really had spat on me! Ewww!

When we were there in april, we saw Stitch 5 times. My daughter loves him and was so exited. We went to see the english version( no waiting time then). After the first time I explained her what it was about, then for the next time I told her what to say incase she got picked( she didn`t). It was absolutly cute, when Stitch uses his ears up or down, to express his feelings.
Really great thing to watch!!

Hey

went to see Stitch Live last week in English. Thought it was great, I was dying to be picked because I love stitch but it didn't happen, but that didn't matter it was just really good fun...wished it could have lasted longer! Wanted to see it more thanonce but it was a short trip! It's definately a major improvement on the Disney channel attraction, which i thought was pretty terrible.

It's a must see attraction now, especially for stitch lovers:) It's cute and funny:)

Yay for Stitch:) xoxoxox

we just got back from the Magic! I haven't posted in a long time but now that we're back I thought it would be a good idea to come to the forum and participate in all of its interesting topics :D
we went to Stitch Live! 3 times, the first one we were intending to attend the English version but somehow we ended up in the french one... didn't get much of the show because we don't understand french that well but then we went to the English version.
It was a total BLAST!!! both times were quite different and Stitch was great in both occasions

First show
- Stitch: Stitch wants to speak to that man in the back... the one with glasses, ... yes! that's the one! hello what's your name and where are you from?
- man: Howard, from UK (let's say, because I don't remember it that well)
- Stitch: hello Howard from UK!... ummm... no, wait... I think I know you, I've seen your face before... (stitch thinks)... NOOOO... you AREN'T HOWARD FROM UK!!!! I've seen you before! they're looking for you!!! (and shows the advert with the man's face on it) you escaped from Space Prison!!!
The funny thing is that the guy's picture showed him with the finger inside the nose looking for who knows what... and Stitch says "YEAH!!! I REMEMBER YOU!!!... and your BOOGERS!!!!"
by that time we were in tears of laughter... what was even FUNNIER was that we saw the man outside the theater after the show waiting for his wife to come out... and the guy had the finger inside his ear now... completely disgusting guy :P such bad manners

In other part of the same show, Stitch talks to a blond girl named Rebecca and asks if she has a boyfriend, and she replies "I have a husband". And Stitch says "oh... but NO BOYFRIEND YAY!!!" ... and later in the show, when intruders get inside the spacecraft and the alarms are on Stitch asks "Rebecca, is that your husband?!"

second show:
Stitch: oh... Stitch can see a beautiful lady there in the front row... sitting right next to cowboy man (a guy with a cowboy hat). Hi... what's your name?
Lady: Hannah (let's say)
Stitch: ... Hannah... (sort of blushes) say Hannah... do you have a boyfriend?...
Lady:... umm... yes, he's sitting next to me
Stitch: ohhh... (frustration voice)... WHAT?!?! THAT'S YOUR.... BOYFRIEND?!?! ... and you call THAT ...A BOYFRIEND?!?! Stitch wants to talk to him, what's your name?
Man: My name is Sam
Stitch: (making fun of him repeats) "my name is... saaaam!!!" HANNAH YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THAT! you can be with Stitch and you're with... cowboy Sam! ... I bet he can't do this...... (jumps repeatedly laughing and making funny noises, suddenly stops to make Sam repeat it, then says:) ... sit down Cowboy Sam, you're looking stupid...
I bet you can't do this either (sticks out his other two arms, and Sam tries to emulate him with no luck)
Stitch: Hannah... you can definitely do better than that!!!
And goes on with the conversation making Hannah say that she loves him and trying to name the planet after her and the rest of the known things
Too bad that I couldn't grab the show on video it was too funny! I could tell the french version was just as funny but I didn't get the jokes
Even my husband who doesn't understand much English loved it
I give it a 10!!!! EXCELLENT :D

Wow, it turns out the entire pre-show has changed!  Just posted a report on WDSfans:

(spoilers ahead!)

QuoteIt seems Walt Disney Studios management is changing its mind on the Disney Channel tie-in at Stitch Live, since the entire pre-show, that previously just showed some trailers for Disney Channel programmes, has completely changed!

Warning, spoilers:

Instead of these commercials, the plasma screens now show a "welcome" on a starry background which is suddenly replaced by the logo of the Galactic Alliance. Captain Gantu announces the Grand Councilwoman of the United Galactic Federation who briefly introduces Lilo and Stitch (for those who don't know the movie's universe) and explains Stitch has escaped to a small island on Earth. She asks the guests in the pre-show to help her find Stitch and a missing Space Cruiser.
Gandu then takes the word again and warns the guests to stay cautious while they're in the Galactic Communications Room.

When moving into the main theatre, the Cast Member doesn't mention Disney Channel any more either, instead she or he tells the guests they're in the Galactic Communications Room and that their help is needed for finding Stitch and the missing Space Cruiser.

No word yet if the large screen in the waiting area (now covered with a large Disney Channel sticker), will be re-used to entertain the waiting guests with the corporate synergy instead.

As I wrote earlier already, we went to the Stitch show a few times in April. Reading Tinkerbelle`s report, I have to think of my daughter. AfterStitch saying naming a planet after ( say) Hannah, that dosn`t work to good, so he says in very cute way to the audience "planet boum" ( don`t know how to write xactly, but means broken). And my daughter still laughs hard when she thinks about that.
just my thoughts, Aurora :stitch:

Glad to hear that they got rid of the Disney Channel adverts and theme, and gone with the Stitch one. Although now we don't have an excuse for it being in the Disney Channel building, but oh well, I'm sure it's a lot better than having the latest Disney Channel programmes shoved in our face every time we go on it

Oh we went on it twice when we were there 2 weeks ago, we loved it! We got 2 very different shows and I'm sure if we'd gone a third time it would have been just as different again! In the first show when he picked on the first guy (who I think was called Tim) he was like "Stitch knows your face - where are you from?" The guy says "London" and Stitch goes "NO YOU'RE NOT!!.... *looks down at front row where all the kids are sitting*... Boys and girls, that guy sitting back there is "Tim from London" and he is a VERY BAD MAN!!" Then he showed the "Wanted poster"! I was in hysterics!... Then when he found the planet the woman he picked on was called Vicky, he asked her how to spell it, she said "V-I-C...", Stitch replies with "V-Y-P...", obviously people started sniggering... Stitch looked straight at the audience and went "WHY'S SOMEONE LAUGHING?!"... Oh then in the "delete" bit, computer says "Delete planet", Stitch looked horrified and went "No, not the PLANET!!" and screwed all his eyes up! Looked so cute!! Amazing addition to WDS, and I'm glad they finally got rid of the Disney Channel ads in the pre-show!

I finally had the chance of seeing this show and I must say, I really did enjoy it! After all, Stitch is my all time favourite disney character.

The funniest part for me was when he was asking a woman if she had a boyfriend.

Stitch: Do you have a boyfriend?
Woman (can't remember her name): I have a husband...
Stitch:...Next!

Quote from: "QTXAdsy"I finally had the chance of seeing this show and I must say, I really did enjoy it! After all, Stitch is my all time favourite disney character.

The funniest part for me was when he was asking a woman if she had a boyfriend.

Stitch: Do you have a boyfriend?
Woman (can't remember her name): I have a husband...
Stitch:...Next!

It's now one of my favourites in the studios!

lol now that is just funny!

I so loved Stitch Live when i was there and found it great even though I was 22 still it was funny lmao

From the video above is it ture is your if sitting right at the front row on the benches  of the screen at Stitch Live! that Stitch will ask "What's your name", "Where your from and "What your age".

Also from the video above does it matter weather your on the right or of left of the screen in the front row  sitting on the benches will Stitch still "What's your name", "Where your from and "What your age".

Hi, I have seen the show several times and you don't have to be seated at the front to be chosen.  It is a rather random choice I believe.  Even though I sat in the front once to watch my kids on the front mat and was chosen for an animal impression.

In that video it shows all the kids sitting on the benches, but in reality they actually sit on the floor at the front.  I think they have put the kids on the benches just for the sake of the video trailer.

I've been several times and this is how I think it works from my observations.

At the start of the english version, they ask who can speak English. I think that those chosen later to interact with Stitch are from those who put their hands up. Stands to reason. You dont want to waste 10mins trying to ask an Italian kid what their name is in English if they don't speak the lingo.

To date, I have always kept my hand down, and I have never been approached as an escaped convict from space-prison. 8)

We were sat in the front row on the left (as you look at the screen) and I was chosen to be Stiches girlfriend and he had my husband dancing. It was brilliant, my husband's favourite part of the whole trip.

Both kids have interacted at some stage, real highlights. The main thing is to interact yourself, and don't expect anything (it is fun, even if you are not involved).

Trust me, it doesn't matter where you sit... I get picked on every time! It IS hilarious though, especially the photo on the space prison wanted poster!lol

We sat at the back trying to be out of the way, to let the kids have all the fun and interaction. But I still got picked on and had my photo put on the screen

I've learnt to just hang back when everyone goes in, chances are they would have already picked out the people they need, and also try not to sit on the end of a row!

I going to Disneyland Paris on November 28th-2nd December 2011(with my mum) and hope on one of those 5 days we're there we can go on see stitch live in production courtyard.

Where would be the best place for us to sit hopping  I will be pick by stitch to interact with him.

Does it matter what age are you or can stitch pick anyone of any age.

Hi,

If you're an adult I have discovered that if you sit towards the back and on the centre isle you may stand a bettre chance of getting picked. Twice I went and twice I have become the fugitive that gets his pic on the wanted screen!  BEWARE!

I agree, sitting on the back two rows, closest to the middle seems to be a key spot to get picked. It's one of my favourite attractions at WDS, and really does bring back a little bit of Disney magic if you get to talk to Stitch.

Me too, sat at the back out of the way so the kids could have all the fun, and the little scamp picked on me and had my picture on the screen

Q: did you or did you not put your hand up when they asked if you could speak English? I have a theory that these are the crop who'll get picked from. Otherwise, what's the point in asking it?

Yes, as an adult, sit in the back row, right in the middle, make sure there is no one sat in front of you, if so, move slightly each way, as they need a clear pathway to take a picture with the camera through the screen.

As a child, sit in the front row, in the middle, with no one in front. Sit still, quiet and well behaved, but wide eyed, looking interested not shy.

We did Stitch Live 3 times - after sussing this all out in the first 2 goes both myself and my daughter were picked the third time!  :D/ Made her day
