I was pleasantly surprised by RC Racer, the brief experience the ride provides at least. It didn't make me feel sick for a start, and when facing upwards at the highest point, it's pretty surreal to look to your left and see Space Mountain and the whole of Disneyland Park at 90 degrees. Then the view from the top of the other end, looking down, is quite spectacular too. Altogether, I'm disappointed to say it left me with a smile on my face.
However, there's one major downside. I rode at 10am yesterday and waited from just outside the building, 55 minutes. Between considering leaving and wanting to scream, I thought: Isn't the queue layout completely the wrong way around? I'm sure there's some sensible reason for it, but you've got this lovely, twisty, landscaped section to begin with, which everyone rushes through (even at 90 mins it wasn't used), and then suddenly you come to one of the worst double-back cattlepens in Disney history. Possibly even more infuriating than Crush's Coaster. Each length takes a good 12 minutes to get through, so you may well spend 50 minutes going back and forth four times in that same empty space with just a couple of plastic car pieces to look at. It's so disrespectful to guests (and I don't necessarily blame WDI).
When you look at rides like Pirates and Phantom Manor (and even newer ones like Laser Blast or Tower of Terror), they have the overflow cattlepen area first, off to one side, so that it rarely has to be used, and then the nice, single-file twisty landscaped/themed bit - the bit people are guaranteed to always be queuing in - at the end before the loading area.

I think I was confused seeing it like that on the plans, and it's no less confusing in reality. It just reinforces every negative preconception about Disneyland queues.
Yup that is indeed a very daft idea with the queuing. At least it is undercover though which is always a good thing.
We were there last saturday. At 10:00 there was a big crowd waiting for the opening of the queue of RC. We managed to do Parachute & Zig-Zag in 15 minutes, while the RC-queue heared that is was closed till??? Some of the waiting people now wanted to do the Parachute & ZigZag, but they already had queues of 120 minutes & 90 minutes! They didn't look happy. At 15:00 RC was still closed.
We looked many times of RC-Racer was going to open soon, but except 1 castmember telling everybody it was closed, nobody (technicians) was looking at the attraction??
But RC RACER looks SUPER, also the queue looks great!

Maybe the park made a mistake in opening the land so quickly. Should of offered previews only up to Oct and officially opened the land during the start of the busy Halloween season. But hey EuroDisney S.C.A is desperate to improve on this next quarter. The fact no one was going over the track for RC, indicates to me Techinicians know what the problem is and can't do anything about it. Hopely it will be up and open soon, so everyone visiting especially for these carnival rides will get the chance to ride them.
The reason why the queue is structured this way is quite obvious, although I agree with Anthony, it leaves the wrong impresson on people and people spend a lot of time in queues visiting a theme park.
The twisty part of the queue is outside and only used in rare occasions. The other part is inside. People don't want to queue outside in the rain, so it is obvious that the part closest to the loading station has a roof above it. It is actually hard to name a single attraction in DLP that doesn't have a roof for at least the last part of the queue (but yes, there are some :) ). Cost savings are the main issue here... Disney is a grandmaster at queue design, unfortunately, they leave their principles behind if costs are the issue.
Went on it this Saturday. Great ride, to short and the restraint hurt. Im 2.00 meters tall and it barely fitted. Loved the theming of the outside que, it is truly well themed.
I dont no if this has been mentioned before, but RC now has a singler rider queue...
Anthony, I would say no, as its not trying to be coaster. It is just a kids carousel ride really.
Though I suppose it is just a larger version of them Go-Gators!lol
I have to say that I absolutely loved it. I'd never been on a half-pipe coaster before and I really enjoyed it, basically a taller, non-spinney version of a disk-o ride. I thought the theming was amazing, especially the scaletrix part of the queueline. However I see where you're coming from Anthony about it being the best bit of the queue and you just walk through it. When I went the other week I just used the new single rider queue so I didn't have the issues with the cattle pen and from what I'm reading in this topic I'm glad I didn't queue up through that.
They use the single rider queue really well and it's used a lot more than I thought it would be. This meant I queued about 20 minutes instead of 60 on several occasions. However this might not always be the case and clearly depends on who is batching the guests.
The ride may be short but I found that it just left me wanting to ride again and again instead of that bored feeling you sometimes get on a swinging boat ride. I found it quite forceful too which I wasn't expecting, but once again it was in a fun way.
Yeah, I love it. :D
Do you have to join the normal queue in order to use the Single Rider?
You do, but it splits off from the normal queue a bit before the building which is where the normal queue seems to start most of the time.

Good to her it is split now! When I was there it was just the last few feet with a castmember yelling there was a single rider line.
Can't wait to ride this, it looks really great!
Is it open during the Extra Magic Hours? We're gonna try and do this one and Crush's Coaster in EMH! :)
:minnie:
I didn't think they done EMH in the Studios?
Oooooh *facepalm*
Woops, nope they don't! Haha ahh well! In the Queue at 10am it is then! Just me being a dunce.
Too over-excited I think, haha!
Bring on RC Racter anyhow :)
:minnie:
They actually DO EMH in WDS, but only on certain dates. It's all in the folder you get when you check in in your hotel. I think (if I read it well) that this time around, there are EMH in WDS every weekend, but I don't know how long that will last. And yes, RC Racer (actually Toy Story Playland itself is open during EMH) is open during EMH.
if your sat in the middle wont it be err a bit boring?
No? I think its fun where ever you sit.
I must say I was quite surprised at the power the LSM's, they really have some oomf about them!
The new RC Racer photo location has finally arrived:

I like it. The only thing about it that strikes me as a little odd is, why is the RC logo all rounded and splashy? Is it supposed to be some sort of aquatic version of RC?
Also, the shape of the box doesn't seem to match the shape of the box you'd get a remote controlled car in.
And they wouldn't come in a box that size. Wrong size, wrong shape for your average remote controlled car. But as a photolocation it works, it has to be the right size and shape for people to get in, that's what it's ment to be used for.
We were explained during the refurb presentation a few weeks back that the box had to be tall enough so guests couldn't climb on it.
I don't like the plastic on the front, won't that give an odd reflection when taking photos, or if a flash is used, a flare?
I do like it. But theres so much more that they could have done to make it seem more like a real toy packaging. All the detail you get on toy packaging (the bar code, the age reccomendations, the warnings, the trademarks) has been missed out, and would make it seem all the more convincing. Or what about those wee wire things you get wrapped around the arms of Action Men when in thier boxes?
I do like it, but I feel they've missed a beat a bit.
Its become the joke with my family that every ride that has a horribly hidden queue is a traditional Disney queue, I guess the main reason behined the queue layout is to hide the main queue from the genral public so they will join and wont realise just how long it will be, thus the famous Thunder mountain queueline, from first timers it looks like a fairly short wiggly queue to the station but when you get inside the cattlepen you really are in it for the long haul!
I see the water logo and I instantly think
Toy story flume ride. It would have been nice
Quote from: "Kristof"We were explained during the refurb presentation a few weeks back that the box had to be tall enough so guests couldn't climb on it.
I'd have preferred it been even taller. It seems out of scale with the actual RC car, Slinky's box, everything around it. Would have better to have something more original, too - maybe even using a different Toy Story character that isn't featured anywhere, like Hamm. A photolocation for RC seems unnecessary when you've got an actual ride a few metres away, but I suppose the same is true for Autopia.
Anyway, at least it's much better than the original location. The splashy graphics are nice, the closest we've got to water in the studios so far!
Is it a permanent photo location, or was it just built for this year's festival? Hopefully it will be removed next year, because if it is really necessary to have photo locations, Disney should built one where Woody and Co. could be moved from Frontierland to TSPL. Toy Story doesn't belong to Frontierland anymore, since TSPL opened.
Ok it took me a good 5 minutes to realise that RC is not actually in the box LOL.
The photo location looks ok. The problem was telling a 3 year old and a 6 year old how to stand in there so it looked as though they were riding RC!
I agree with Colombiad, its disappointing to see that they've missed out on the usual small touches that Disney add, like the barcode etc.
hi, i always rush to crush's coaster as soon as the park opens, im going 18th july. then i want to go straight to this, how long do you reckon the que will be at that time?
RC Racer is like a big Hot Wheels track, right? Well, so is this :-)

why would someone do that?!

It will probably be non-exsistant, as everyone will still run to Crush first.
When the area opened, I seem to remember that someone noticed that the power switch on the outside of the station switches as the ride starts? Is this now a broken effect, or did it never move in the first place?
It did indeed move when the area first opened. Then I believe it was broken for a while, but I thought I heard reports they fixed it again?
Well that's good to know, it was one of the few added details in the area that took it a little higher than something Paultons would have made..

So even after waiting for crush we'll still be able to get on the ride in a decent time? ahhhhh i hate that massive rush, you wouldt believe how many times i have dreamt about rushing to that ride, i seriously need help hehe :) whats the que like in say the middle of the day on rc in say like july. We couldnt go on it in december as it was when disney was basically frozen :/
I doubt it, in April, we went to go on Crush before official opening and the queue was posted at 70 minutes. We did walk on to Cars more or less, but after we got off Cars and went to TSPL, the waits for this were at 45 minutes (it was about 10:15 am).
ah that sucks :/ i guess it just depends on the day then. I went in august last year and waited like 30 mins at the most for crush :/ at 10am in december everything was walk on at that time hehe :) ah we shall see what the 18th july brings :D
last week i walked straight on!! after walking straight onto crush! was great they opened the park early! although rc racer freaked me ALOT haha
sweet! what time did they open the park at?
9.30! i was freaking a bit about it as i had to get my complimentry tickets swapped for paper ones at guest servces and was like oh noooooo theyre all going in!! but luckiy guest services opened like 2 mins later :D
Hi there, hoping someone can help me. Returned from disneyland yesterday (wooo) :D and did RC racer twice! However, really puzzled by something. Both times we asked to sit in the front. There was four of us, me (small) my two brothers (11 and 13) and my big brother (20) who is massive at well over 6 foot. as we queued i our row of four, i was at the front, but the cast member made my big brother sit at the far end. We couldn't see why. So we tried it again with our next ride (me at the front) and a DIFFERENT cast member made him sit at the far end again?? We could see no different with the size of the seat or safety harness. the only difference is the head of that seat was blue... all the others were orange. If anyone has any knowledge of this is would be greatly appreciated!!
Is the rc racer in disneyland paris similar to a pirate ship ride in other united kingdom theme park.
Nope. It's more like the "halfpipe" roller coaster. :)
What's the ride like?
What is RC Racer like? All you need to do is search YouTube to answer that question. This video should help you understand it:

Thank you :)
This was the first ride we went on on our March trip. Screamed so much I lost my voice! :P For the next 4 days it was like somebody had pressed the mute button on me, terrified expression, mouth wide open, but no sound coming out! lol Loved it!
Probably the most unique attraction in TSPL. Cant remember seeing a Halfpipe coaster somewhere in France or the Benelux.
Quote from: "sebassah"Probably the most unique attraction in TSPL. Cant remember seeing a Halfpipe coaster somewhere in France or the Benelux.
Cant remember seeing it somewhere else in Europe... although it looks a bit like these surferrides from Zamperla (like in Moviepark Germany) but then they are way lower!
I hate pirate ship type rides and so was terrified of going on this but this was totally different. Brilliant ride!
RC Racer is best of TSPL! :)
How music is playing in the queue line on RC Racer, please? I mean this music beginning from 05:15 in this video...
[youtube:2rlfvfxx]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHaPRvwLlV8[/youtube:2rlfvfxx]
Sounds like an instrumental version of Strange Things....

Thank you! Sounds like it - just little different. I like this music on the RC Racer queue! :)
I may know where it is! Check the scores from the 3 movies! One of them is bound to have it! One that is used in the land is called Going Home from Toy Story 3!

Thank you very much for your work on it! But this music is not there what i mean... But still thanks for it!
No problems!
Such a mega ride
I always end up at the front, which is probably the worst place to be lol
If you can bear to keep your eyes open there is a lovely view from the top :)
We loved the ride but hated the Q's
