Hi guys :) I figured I'd put this question here because I think it would be understood by everyone!!
Well basically, our family life pretty much revolves around disney.. just because of how amazing it is. When you try to describe disney, to someone who has nothing to to with it, you just cannot put into words just how magical it is. Everything about it, the themeing, the music around the parks, the atmosphere. It's not just like a trip to france, its a trip to another world. Everything about it is different, and all your problems at home just don't exist. Does this make any sense? Because I tried to explain it to a non-disney person and they looked at me like I was nuts. Please someone tell me they understand!!
xxx
That's pretty much exactly how it is for our family too, both my wife and I are always waiting for our next trip (Halloween) and the children always have such a happy holiday. Our youngest son had his first Birthday party at cafe Mickey and our eldest is having his 7th Birthday there in Oct. The only problem is that it's hard to imagine going anywhere else

Hi
that is exactly how i explain it to everyone that doesn't go to Disney, it is amazing and you just leave your problems behind

aww thats so sweet :) his first birthday.. that must have been something magical for you both :)
true though, we used to go to holiday camps but after disney we havn't gone on holiday anyhere else! not good for the expenses  but hey, it's disney! :)
and glad you agree matt :) xxx
hi, i tried explaining the magic to my sister, who isnt really in to disney and she just thinks im mental, i dont think any words can really describe it to someone who has never been, i think you need to go and experience it, words will never be enough, they can build i nice picture, but its the feeling you get when your there that just makes it amazing, hope this makes sense lol xx :belle:
It's that tingle you get everytime you mention it. We don't go to visit Disneyland Paris, you go to feel it x
Totally agree with everything said so far. Last year we took friends mainly because the husband wanted to go, the wife not so much but on the Eurostar back she said " Can we come with you next year" then summed it up with "its 100% feel good" and thats what it is for me, for those few days Im there it is the happiest place on earth.
yeah stacey-claire that makes perfect sense!! could you take your sister with you, so she could experience it too? I'm glad people on here understand, because it is just impossible to explain to anybody else.
and rocknroller, i totally agree with you. I am never happier then when I am in Disney. Especially if you've had a bad year, it makes up for it. Having a trip booked to look forward to gets me through pretty much everything. But I'm not sure how I'm gonna cope when this trip is over, I'll feel so empty! :( Just hope I can go next year! [-o<
I agree, when people are like, 'Why do you love disney so much?'
Im like i cant explain it, it's just amazing ! :D
I agree. I hope my friend see the magic after his first visit to Disneyland Paris.
This is a really lovely thread, i totally agree with everything that's been said already.
I come from a "Disney" family but now I'm in my twenties I'm living with my boyfriend and he just does not get it. At all. I've been twice without him since we've been together (and going back again in November, with my mum and sister) and he really thinks I'm nuts. However, he has agreed as a major sacrifice and display of love, to take me next June to celebrate my graduation.
I have always told myself that as soon as I can get him through the gates the magic will take him over just like it does everyone else. I hope so so much that it does. But I am pretty nervous in case he is immune to the magic - I love him to bits but he is not in any way a cheesy or soppy person! It means a lot that he's doing this for me and I know he will at least enjoy the thrill rides, but my happiness would be complete if he would fall in love with DLP too.
Guess I won't know til we get there in June 2011.... [-o<
Don't worry Lola, my brother is like that and he totally got taken in by the atmosphere :D

if anyone can tell me how to attach a photo, I'll post Mickey giving him his 1st Birthday cake.
aww lola you're post was lovely :) i really hope you're boyfriend understands it when he gets through those gates, something just 'happens' to people and Disney can change everything. My ex boyfriend really didn't get it much, I would love to find a guy who could share that passion with me [-o<
Dopeydad, I don't really know how to add pictures as I haven't been on here long, but I would love to see a picture. Sounds absolutely amazing :) xxx

(this should work but there must be a better way)
It was a beautiful moment for us all and just one reason why Disney is so special to our family. It's also the pure escapism of the place. Both my wife and I are psychiatric nurses and see our fair share of the darker side of life so to speak, first trip to Disneyland and we both realised we hadn't thought of work once the whole time we were there, a much needed break from reality.
:) I totally understand the feeling. Once I go through those gates or just step into the Disneyland Hotel, the magic just takes me over. Everyone I speak to can't understand my obsession with Disney. You feel like you are dancing amongst the clouds and reality is completely forgotten. I only came back a week ago and I want to be there again.
My mum was hit by a car when I was 2 and my dad worked alot so it was me that helped look after her at home! (also my dad was useless)
We first went to disney when I was 9 and it my first chance to be a real child!
Because of my mum's disablity (she used to have a fusion in her left knee and is now an above the knee amuptee) disney was the perfect place for us to go because of just how wheelchair friendly the resort is for us!
Now mum doesn't like too many of the rides so now its just the 3 of us (divorce) we feel we can leave mum to go on a ride its safe and she can get around on her own!
Everytime I walk in the resort the magic hits me! I feel safe, stress free and completly overwhelmed by the feeling I get when I'm there its amazing!
P.S. also dumped someone who really didn't get the magic!
Aww dopeydad that picture is lovely!! that's just so so sweet. Thank you for sharing :)
I understand what you say about escaping reality, that must be a tough job, Disney just fixes everything!
Disneylandparisgirl, I'm glad it lets you be a child, sorry about your mum. I kinda understand, my little brother is disabled and disney is just perfect for him. What with the passes and easy access, it's just brilliant. I know what you mean about the safety. I can walk back to the cheyenne at 12am and feel totally safe. We'll be there at the same time too!! :) xxx

You are sort of halfway there actualy. To the side of the URL button you use to put in a link you have a button marked Img. Push it and plase the url of the picture between the image tags that looks like this .
But you have to put in the url to only the picture and not to the picture in the image hostin site, if you understand what I meen. to get it u usualy just click on the picture so it's the only thing you see on the screen and the adress you have in the adressbar is then your pictures adress. Hope this made any sence.

tadaa!
(thanks EmilieK)
hahahaha you sorted it!! :) xxx
I had this problem in regards to my family. They couldnt understand why we had bought annual passes and why we kept going back. It wasnt until my dad asked if we could all go to celebrate his and my mums 60th, my 25th and my nephews 2nd that they all truely understood why we loved it so much. My sister in law, the one who thought I was really crazy is already wanting to go back this Christmas and everyone is now looking forward to my little ones first trip next September :D
Aww glad you managed to win them all over! I really think it has to be experienced to be truely understood xx

My mum and dad are the same, we went in January and ive booked for Halloween and Christmas this year and my mum asked if thats not Disney overload :P You are right, no words can describe it no matter how hard you try. I have talked my mum into coming with us and we are now taking her next Feb so she can experience the magic for herself
Aw love this thread!! no one else understands my LOVE for Disney and the "wow" feeling I get when I see the castle. even my bf who is coming on second trip with me to dlP doesn't really get it. it just likes to see my face light up when i step through the gates. ah heaven!
Quote from: "claire2281"Don't worry Lola, my brother is like that and he totally got taken in by the atmosphere :D
I've heard a few stories like this that encourage me and give me hope for his conversion! We are now planning to extend the holiday so that we also spend a few days in a small town in the Champagne region doing wine tasting etc (BF is a restaurant manager and a real wine geek) What a random holiday, revert to childhood for Disney then act all posh and grown up sipping wine...
Quote from: "tinker_fairy"aww lola you're post was lovely :) i really hope you're boyfriend understands it when he gets through those gates, something just 'happens' to people and Disney can change everything. If my BF doesnt love Disney, I'll still love him! lol. but it would make our relationship even better if he liked it even just a bit!! It means a lot that he's even agreed to go because he's convinced he won't like it.
Aw! Gorgeous photo! :D Sums up the magic doesnt it?
See now my DH doesnt have the magic, but he loves taking us as he loves to see our faces and how excited we all get excited by our next visit and walking up Main Street to the castle :D
Well.... this is what he says ... I cant help but feel the magic is slowly creeping in as he suggested our latest trip, hes also asked if he can swap his restaurant choice from Silver Spur to Walts and he has also mentioned how he cant wait to see Stephs reaction to her little surprise in Auberge :D
... I think the man is getting the magic :mickey2: And I keep getting goosbumps at the thought of us going in two weeks :D/ :D/ :D/
Sounds like he's hooked to me! Just 2 weeks to go hey! Have a fabulous time.
Just forgive those people who simply don't have the imagination (and education) to understand what a Disney park means.
aww lola i love the contrast of your holiday! thats really funny :) and don't worry, I didn't split up with my boyfriend just cos of disney! I'm not that odd, haha xxx
I took my other half for the first time in September last year for a day trip - she was converted from that moment and we visited for my birthday in Feb this year and we're going again in November. Like me she loved the attention to detail, the atmosphere and the way you get caught up in everything.
And this is the girl did not understand the appeal as she did not like theme parks. :)
I COMPLETELY understand :) I'm leaving at 6 tonight for disney, I cannot sleep (hence being on magic forum at midnight  ) and i'm WAY too excited.. My friends are only just understanding that disney isn't just a company, it's a way of life, I LIVE disney.Another thing is that people at school (I'm going into year 10) will think it's really sad that I'm more excited than a 4 year old about going to disney but I don't care... IT'S DISNEY <3
One of my friends is coming to disney with us next year for my 15th :D
my parents where the same, my mam gets as excited as me (20) and my sister (16) when we go i think shes holding her excitement for our net trip though me im already bouncing off the walls, i think its because of joining this, talking about disney every day =], my dad has only been with us once, he enjoyed it, but said he wont come back (he wants to go to florida ¬¬ ) so he doesnt really feel the magic at paris...
and disneyMAD...woops, you are soooo lucky! going to disney for your birthday i would love to be there for mine =] especially next year (turning 21 =/ )
I love the Disney Parks and would go to Florida every year if i could but havent found anyone who wants to share the magic with me...life is so sad :(
lol
I completely understand! I feel like my life revolves around my next dlp trip! I usually go with my mom but my boyfriend is coming with me in October and it's sooo frustrating that he's nowhere near as excited as I am! It really just sinks in and becomes a part of you I think, like how you remember how pirates of the carribean smellsand you know all the words from phantom manor off by heart!

OMG i know exactly what you are talking about, that smell of POTC is so distinct!!!! all i have to do is listen to the music and it jumps into my head XXXD
and for me its not the words from PM, its ToT, i can recite the safety anounsement and countdown to the first drop to the second!!! XXXD
My mum and dad get excited even when we mention 'when are we going this year?' befor we have even asked if they want to come. Their faces light up when we discuss the forthcoming trip, and they keep telling us how many weeks until we go...
and they are a very childish 68 + 69 years old.
We took my great grandmother on her first trip to the original Disneyland in 1977, she was 76 years old, and we could not keep up with her. She went 4 or 5 times a year pretty much until the day she died aged 99. Pretty amazing.

Hi All
I went for the 1st time for a day when i was staying in paris and as much as i liked it didnt feel the magic that was in 2004! then i went in 2006 when my Daughter was one a a few months and i have been hooked ever since! have been back every year twice in 2009. i love it!! i get a warm feeling when i arrive off the eurostar and just love that i know where everything so no need for maps etc! just head right to our fave rides! my kids just dont know how lucky they are, yes a little bit spoilt at going every year but i am glad we are able to do it!!
My mum came with us on this trip and all i was saying was oh someone on the site said this place and that place is nice / good etc! thanks guy for all your tips!!
it really is like a little (DISNEY) family!
Heres looking forward to more good deals so we can go next year!!
XX
You've just walked through the ticket barrier and you catch sight of Main Street USA leading down to the castle for the first day of your trip and you get that buzz which is like a massive firework going off and that"wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" sound in that bloody annoying crazy frog song then for some inexplicable reason you get that little skip in your stride ;) and oooohhhhhh it's sooo good to be back :P
as much as i hate facebook with a burning passion (despite the fact that i have one ¬¬ ) i find the great need for a like button like on facebook right now =]
The walk through the park gates as you enter another world.
The music that fits the scene like no where else.
I Love DLP :)

Ah such a nice post and I completely agree! I think every person who eneters the park and spends 5 minutes looking around the park in their busy day, and see's a tiny detail, Mickey waling down main street, admireing the flowers or listening to the background music, that they then feel the same way. It truely makes walts words of 'here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday tomorrow and fantasy' a reality, and no other place can do it
i know exactly the feeling, im taking my boyfriend next month for the first time (its my 9th trip) and im soo excited, he keeps calling me mad for coming on here reading everything and going on and on but as someone else said i know if i can get him through the gates he will feel exactly the same! i cant wait and im planning to take my toddler for the first time in march11' (he will be 18months) i just cannot wait some of my best memories of growing up were at dlp and i want to give my son that same experience! :D
