Today, we're sharing the first preview of the artwork for Mickey's Soundsational Parade. It gives you a glimpse of the vibrant colors and exciting array of Disney characters that may appear on the streets of Disneyland park in 2011.
Plus, there are a whole lot of exciting elements for the new parade that can't be captured in this artwork:
- The parade is an explosive music festival with thrilling rhythms and bold percussion that will bring to life some of the most beloved melodies from Disney films.
- Live musicians will amplify the fun. Mickey Mouse and some of your favorite Disney characters will play live and will encourage members of the crowd to join a giant jam session.
- Lively dancers will stomp out rhythms as a syncopated drum line, twinkling cymbals, steel drums and more entertain guests with sensational sounds!
The parade promises to be the most foot-stomping, infectious festival of music you've ever seen — or heard! I've heard it's "soundsational!"

I wonder if this spawned from the alternate idea Katy Harris talked about before Paris' Once Upon a Dream Parade was decided on for the 15th, celebrating music and musical instruments...

This is amazing news. With a new parade, Little Mermaid attraction and Star Tours 2 all opening in 2011. I am so going to Disneyland now :D
What I'm liking from the concept art shown is that it has no Pixar Characters. Finally we have something new at Disneyland that does not feature any Pixar. The concept art looks very much like that for Tokyo's Jubilation Parade. Really interested in what the finished product will look like and really pleased to see a Princess and the Frog float.

This does look fantastic, I too am relieved to notice the distinct lack of Pixar, though I bet Toy Story will be in there before the finished product hits the park!! Also, is that Giselle I spy on the front of the princess float?!?! :o
This is the only parade I;ve seen that looks like it might almost be as good as OUADP.

I have to say i dont agree that ouadp has run its course, its only just 3 years old ! Its still got alot of life in it. And its an amazing parade !

it looks like an improvement over 'Celebrate: A Street Parade' making it more character based. I always find it a bit odd; Mickey and Minnie rocking out to 'I Love Rock n Roll'!!

I think the floats are mickey and friends, lion king, peter pan, mary poppins, princess and the frog, aladdin, the princesses, little mermaid and i think the saludas amigos.
I am surprised the parade regulars e.g. alice in wonderland and winnie the pooh are not in it.
I am glad that princess and the frog and tangled will be featured though, which will make it fresh and origional, am i right in thinking that she has never had her on parade float before.

ahh sorry misread thought dlp was getting a new parade...what a shame wonder when they will get a new parade maybe for the 20th celebration....wonder what will be in store for that

Ah well spotted! :) I think I remember reading that they can't use Giselle as a parade or face character in the parks because she's based on Amy Adams and Disney have to pay her every time they use her image (or something to that effect!) which was why I was so surprised when I thought it was her!!

I read that to Snow_White_Girl it said on wikipedia that she was going to part of the official disney princess lineup but they couldnt use her for that reason. :)
I really think music is SO important for a parade. I know in the past that Paris hasn't prioritised it enough so I'm pleased to see that DLR actually are... however...
This parade really runs the risk of a sound overload. It's very easy for there to be too much music in a parade. The cross-over between DOUADP floats can often be enough. If each float has a significantly different sound and theme then syncing up could be awful. A technical challenge here. The pics looks sensational however. Quite exciting. MK still getting Parade of Dreams by the way? :S

nope, not anymore. the Parade of Dreams floats were destroyed last year. only two survived I believe, the beauty and the beast and finale float.
Soundsational is being directed by Steve Davidson, who also worked on parades for Tokyo. It's rumored that the cast for Soundsational is being trained with similar choreography used in Jubilation - they've been showing the cast videos of the Tokyo parade.

How very sad about the PoD floats - they were stunning :( I'm glad to hear the BatB one survived though!!
I also find it sad that they destroy most of the old parade floats, But i suppose they have to do it for space.

Does anyone know if they are doing a couple of test shows for this parade before Friday?
That parade looks great, nearly as good as the Once Upon A Dream Parade in Paris. The worst day parade I've ever seen was the Dreams Come True Parade at the MK in Florida. There I have also seen the worst nighttime parade Spectromagic. It seems Disney brings all cheap parades to WDW.

I mean, this is a little boring parade, empty, full of color, but boring and tired. I am little disappointed. Once Upon a Dream Parade - is still better (without new show stops ).

This parade is wonderful, it's up there with OUADP and Jubliation at the moment.
This parade is INSANE! I love the number of performers, (I wonder how long before they cut those down) and the song is wicked. Watched it a little while ago and still humming it to myself. Although I never get why California is so 'blocky' with its colour. Not really sure how to describe what I mean, but I think it was similar in the last parade.

The parade is not bad, but I still prefere OUADP. The floats look nice, but I'm not a fan of the soundtrack. At least it's better than what we have seen at WDW.
While OUADP is a Classic Disney Parade that i realy Love, i think Soundsational is the Perfect
mix of a Classic Parade and the Celebrate Parade, I realy Like it and its looks Fun to watch.
Also i think the Soundtrack is great, i like it at the Flights of Fantasy Parade and at this one...

I love all the floats, sure some of them have their flaws and hopefully things will smooth out.

The princess song is amazing. <3
Not only is the main song ripped from HKDL's Flights of Fantasy parade, but the lyrics of this version are crap in comparison. "So come on, come on, it's Soundsational!". It's not even a word. At least the lyrics make sense in Hong Kong and the beat doesn't have the same annoying rap-like undertone.
The song isn't "ripped." The parks share music to save on costs.
Your response to the word "soundsational" reminds me of the Bank childrens' response to Supercalifragilisticexpiallidocious. ;)
Even though the detailing/colour choices for this parade are slightly off, I'm so excited to see it this summer. Does anyone know if there's a regular pattern to which way the parade travels? Such as up Main Street for the first showing and back down Main Street towards the castle later on? Or is it the other way around? I would hate to pick a place to see it and not take this into consideration!
