Premiered: 5th July 2003
Location: Parade Route
Duration: 25 minutes

The parade has three show stops, but not all locations on the parade route allow you to view all three in the same performance. The only place you can do this is at Central Plaza.

Did You Know..?
*Disney's Fantillusion! first premiered in Tokyo Disneyland back in 1995 after being specially designed for the resort. The parade was an instant success and ran for an amazing 6 years.

*Fantillusion's story is roughly based on Disneyland California and Walt Disney World's "Fantasmic" light show. The same composer created the orchestral score and it is rumoured that this was meant to be Tokyo Disneyland's version of the show, in parade form.

*Paris' version of Disney's Fantillusion! comprises of 12 floats, 400 000 light bulbs and 60km of cabling.

*One show can use over 600 litres of dry ice for the "show modes" and 9 tonnes of batteries are used every evening... recharged for the next day.

*Disney's Fantillusion! is the only parade in which every Disney resort (existing at the time) was asked for input on the final product. With such a huge collaborative team, it is no surprise the outcome was so amazing.

*The music was recorded exclusively for the parade in Los Angeles over 3 days. At times, an 80 piece orchestra was used to give impact to the score.

*Computers onboard each float control the lighting display, effects and music. The only thing that is sent to the units is a signal to keep the music in time with the underliner (background track) played in the park.

*Each float has it's own orchestration and variation on the main theme, with music from the appropriate film telling the story along with character voices.

Feel free to discus!

Ok some some breaking news and exclusive infomation on this years Fantillusion!

So the VIP characters : Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale and maybe Donald will walk along the parade after the first float! Their usual place on the second float will be taken by Tinkerbell who will be visible all the time, as the curtains will remain open!

The Villains will no-longer be "hooded coffin pushers" but will dance in front of each float instead!

There will also be a new costume for Maleficent and the Court Dancers!

Maybe some other changes too... but you can see from 3rd July!

ooo the changes sound cool! has the budget gone up this year?  :P

Regarding tink being in the second float, does this mean she won't be walking in front of the "Mickey's Fantillusion" float anymore?

I hope that because they'll have the charecters out all the time that they won't try and cut costs by having less CM's dressed as the butterfly's etc.!!

Anywhere in central plaza has a good view, I'd say the middle-ish bit if you want to see Jafar/Maleficent transform during the Villains showstop (Ursula is a bit dull since all she does is pop up rather un-spectacularly), but near the turn to Main Street for a nice straight view of the Fireworks afterwards!

On another note, anyone know if the first (Mickeys Magical Garden) showstop is still performed or have they stopped it?

I do love the fantilusion, I have seen it about 5 times as on my first trip I watched it every single evening (summer season) for 4 nights! Then I seen it again during a christmas season. I do wish they would updated it though and add new floats or at least add to the old ones.

I adore Fantillusion, the music really makes it set apart from other Disney Parades. I do agree however that new floats should be added! Are the TDL floats for Fantillusion still around or have they been destroyed?

They're rumorued to have been destroyed but nothing is certain...
I would hope that if Tokyo still does have them, they might consider gifting them to Paris  [-o<
After seeing those videos that I posted above, it really did annoy me that most of the parade had dissapeared
EDIT: I also remember reading somwhere that Disneyland Paris has some extra floats in storage but they remain unused!

Don't you think DLP needs a new parade as soon as possible? A whole new parade, or ten floats more... But not tomorrow, next year... Now.

I do sort of agree with you Lorum, Disney's Fantillusion is a shadow of its former self. When it was first introduced at Disneyland Paris, at least it had all three showstops and a fuller cast... These days it seems a little hollow with no Magical Garden showstop, a lower budget and ageing floats. I hope these "changes" that the resort are presenting this year may just include a few more performers and the return of three showtops!  [-o<
One can hope!

Is the summer fantillusion parade exactly the same at christmas?

Also, do they do show stops like the OUADP? and where do you think is the best place to watch for the christmas fantillusion?

I dont think they should replace fantilusion.
But give it a complete makeover with new floats and refurbished old ones.

Kelly

Yup, exactley the same!
Because of the winter weather, if it's raining/snowing, then the parade will just drive through with no showstops.

I think this parade will obviously die in the next five years, if the resort don't do anything to make it better. It needs more floats, a longer parade. It needs more performers, more space between two floats, much more orchestra, more music, exactly what it looked like when it was inaugurated in Tokyo.

If WDI doesn't want to create some new changes, then the parade will be lost... With Disney's World of Color in DCA, and Fantasmic! in Tokyo for 2011, Disneyland Paris must consider its nighttime entertainment and forget lands with amusement park's rides or fairground attractions (I don't know how you say that), from others Disney's mistakes in California.

I mean... I want DLP to grow, but improving.

I completely agree, when it was in Tokyo, I dare to say this was the BEST nightime parade ever! i love watching videos of it and so wish that we could have all the floats!
160 CM's were used in Tokyo... it's more like 50 (if that!)these days... such a shame in my oppinion!
You can tell that the "Royal Dancers" are DLP's own creation... they look nothing like the rest of the parade!

Imagine if you will, Fantillusion is just leaving the park, all the lights all off and it's starting to rain!
Then... cue the thunder!
It's quite [strike:3owjs1it]funny[/strike:3owjs1it] a sight to see people running out of the park, screaming because of the lightening... with the happy song of Fantillusion playing in the background!

Yea... hilarious!!     try being stuck 8 meters up on a electric float with a metal pole attached to your waist and hundereds of lights, cables and batteries over your body!!  Watching thunder hit the buildings on Main Street just 10 meters away from you!!!  It was certainly not funny!!  It was bad enough for the guests... but for the perfomers it was pure hell!!!     Thankfully, new procedures have now been put in place and hopefully nothing like this will ever happen again!

The changes really have happened!

The characters now walk behind Mickey's Fantillusion!

Tink is now inside the Gazeebo (not really sure what to think about this... I liked her better up front  :?)

Maleficent's new costume looks great

And finally... the coffin pushers are constantly lit! (are these costumes new?)

The Royal Dancers will apparently get new costumes later in the season  [-o<

I have to admit after seeing this vid, I definatley sill prefer Tink up the front!!  :?
 [dailymotion:2yhgaah6]xdxtza_disney-s-fantillusion-parade-5-juil_travel[/dailymotion:2yhgaah6]

Again, I prefered it when the dancers wore cloakes... (In Tokyo they had red lit up eyes that looked so scary!   )
[dailymotion:2yhgaah6]xdxttd_disney-s-fantillusion-parade-5-juil_travel[/dailymotion:2yhgaah6]

If you look at the Royal Dancers, you can see their costumes have been altered, with new designes on the ladies costumes and "sparkle" effect flashing lights! Better than what it used to be IMHO!
[dailymotion:2yhgaah6]xdxtfk_disney-s-fantillusion-parade-5-juil_travel[/dailymotion:2yhgaah6]

So basically, the only changes that I personally like, are thos to the Royal Dancers costumes :P

A new nighttime parade? Only if it doesn't involve the Electrical Parade with that awful music. The music of Fanti is the best of all the nighttime parades on the planet. Agreed, the floats are getting old, but I wouldn't mind if they created a new Fanti with new floats and retain the music! That would be awesome!

I just read this by user Tommy 183 on Disney Central Plaza:
QuoteDuring my last visit to DLRP, we were at the Emporium just before Fantillusion and CM who served us said it was the last season Fantillusion in Paris and that it would soon be replaced by SpectroMagic next year ...

Do you think this is true or it is just an assumption?

What do you think of this hypothetical replacement?

Personally, I'd be very disappointed to see Fantillusion go to the United States ...

Well with WDW having no immediate plans to give DLR back its Electrical Parade. Its always a possibility SpectroMagic may move on to Paris. And this has been long rumoured for a while now. Although even if it is true, it seems to be happening fairly quickly if this was to end up being Fantillusion's final season. These floats would take time to arrive out in Paris from Orlando. Where than there would need to be fully checked over and worked on. Before being fit for park use. I personally hope its not true. Spectromagic is a much more ambitious project than Disneyland Paris would be able to handle in my opinion. Fantillsion has 9 units vs Spectromagic's 20 units. Plus several more performers. If it was sent to Paris, it would only be butchered down. So I hope WDW keep it around and bring it back once DLR request the Electrical Parade back. Which may happen once the current construction at the park finishes.

Now back to the subject of Fantillusion and I must ask why its only performed in Summer and Christmas Seasons. I think its poor show to not present any night time entertainment for the Weekend crowds though out the year.

Agreed James, DLP really does trail the rest of the world when it comes to night time entertainment. And it is a shame. If we were to dream about transferring parades though, I would really love for MSEP Dreamlights to come over from Tokyo, without butchering.

Dreamlights is 25 minutes of beautiful eye candy. If Dreamlights was presented in full at Disneyland Paris it would bring in non Disney fans to the park every night. Its simply that amazing. I just think its a shame for anyone who like us wants to find this sort of quality night time entertainment from Disney and is either UK or Euro based. Has to travel all the way to either Asia or the States to find it. Even though we have a Disney park right on our door step.

On my last trip out to Japan in March I was very gutted to have had to miss Dreamlights. But unfortunately I had a builet train to catch back to Osaka. But I was able to visit Universal Studios Japan and see another Parade of similar scale to Dreamlights. And that was the Magical Starlight Parade. Now bare in mind Universal Studios Japan is a park that attracts around 8 million Guests per year. Disneyland Paris as a Resort recieves almost double that figure. Yet fails to produce something on this scale for a night time parade. Poor Show.

This is why I get so annoyed. DLP has the potential to be the very best Disney can offer. The infrastructure and the e-tickets lead the bunch, and the table service options are amongst some of the best

I think they just made a huge mistake buying Fantillusion, the entertainment value of which relies far too heavily on live performers, which Euro Disney cannot afford. They're much better off with something they can essentially switch on like a Christmas tree and send on her merry way, like the Main Street Electrical Parade. No streetaculars, no stages on wheels, no parade stops.

It'll be back for Christmas, no need to worry!
If the rumour were true, It would take weeks to get a different parade shipped to europe and a few months after that to convert the power and do any upgrades necessary   .

The absolute earliest we'd be looking at a new illumuntion parade is 2011, but most probably 2012 for the 20th!  [-o<

Next time you see the show director, can you ask them to give the performers on the floats some propper routines?
Thats what helped make the Tokyo production great and I feel the only real great performance in the current Fanti is made by Maleficent!

Good news though, I'm glad that I'll be able to see it a few more times  :P

EDIT: Poppy, if you happen to see any parade maintenance people, can you ask them to take a look at Mickey and Ursula's Float, they both had so many missing effects when I last saw fanti in July:

On Mickeys: Mickey's "cape", the thing that's meant to change colour and look very vibrant is completely broke, the sparkle of pixie dust from the pink tink is buggered, the stars either side of Mickey are broke, The sort of "wavey magicey dust thing" that appears on Mickeys rainbow at the start of the show stop hasnt worked properley for years AND... Mickey's tux has had some really annoying flashing sequence added to it with blue lights that looks really awful!

On Ursula's: You could bearly see Flotsam and Jetsom because their eyes and teeth bulbs were all gone...

and the villain dancers need to dance much closer to the floats during showstops! The black light has no effect on the special paint thats on the floats in example... Ursula's tentacles, Jafar's snakeskin pattern and Maleficent's greyish castle wall effect!

I actually swear that the show producer has never seen a video of how this parade should be operated  :|

Ofcourse she denies the rumours. It's not (yet) official. She really can't say anything to hint a closure for Fanti before the resort has annouced it officialy. The current rumours say Fanti will leave in 2011, but I think the parade will not leave till the end of 2011 (leaving room for a new one in 2012).
Disney's Once Upon A Dream Parade is still 'young' compared to Fanti (and currently the best Disney dayparade of alle the resorts), so if the resort is planning a replacement parade, it should be for Fanti.

"The only great performance is from Maleficent" - sometimes true! There are about 35 people who play Maleficent on Fantillusion, some are amazing...  some are terrible!! Its lucky you've only seen the good ones!

I've not got any connection to maintenence.... I know there are loads of problems on the floats and I'm sure if there was the money the floats would be always in perfect condition. Under the circumstances the floats still look pretty good in my opinion!

The rountines haven't changed much since the parade was choregraphed originally in 2003,  so I agree there should be an update... but due to french law the dancers in the parades can only do certain movements - if they do a lift or a double pirouette etc. they need to be paid more and have a much higher monthly salery for the rest of their contract!!  Its very confusing and so frustrating for the choregraphers!

One of the things that seems to annoy me most about the parade is the Mickey performer on the lead float...
In the Once Upon a Dream Parade, both mickey and Minnie have a great routine and they both know how it goes and do a brill performance.
In Fanti, Mickey normally doesnt't act as a Mickey should and has next to no routine apart from the occasional marching bit...

Oh my gosh! That explains so so much. I always wondered why the parade dances were so simple. If you wouldn't mind, could you go into any more detail about this? Why do they consider certain moves worthy of a higher salary etc? If you don't feel that sort of info is suitable for the public domain, feel free to PM me, but I found your comment quite intriguing!!

In my opinion, Mickey has changed for bad in the parade...
I saw it nearly every year during the summer holidays, in the beginning Mickey was really cool, did a lot of moves, marched a lot.. Now I saw videos from this summer season and was shocked, because he seemed so bored...

I think it's kinda sad that there are so many actors who plays different Mickey Mouses, we had one very good Mickey on the first day, then a very very bad Mickey on the second day... Should'nt they play so that there is no difference? Don't they have the same choreography? For me, Mickey has always been the highlight of the whole parade, but the pictures from the summer parade 2010 make me really sad.. :( who agrees?

I have seen Fantillusion only twice. Both times during the Christmas Season in 2006. Back then I liked it, because it was my first nighttime parade.
At WDW I have seen Spectromagic and I didn't like that parade at all. DLRP's Fantillusion was better, had a nicer soundtrack and floats were also more beautiful.

BUT last year I have seen a video of the Tokyo version. So sad that Paris got a cheaper version.

I would love to see it replaced with Main Street Electrical Parade.

Watching that last video of the Sayonara season in Tokyo was just amazing. Not that I have anything against out Fantillusion, I love it and think it's amazing, part of me can't help but feel it's a bit of a shame that Paris didn't buy the entire parade. That would have been out of this world, but obviously costs and money blah blah blah have to take precedence. Anyway, I'm still happy we have Fanti :) (Oh but also, how come we don't have the characters like Pinoccchio/Jiminy etc come out from the carousel?)

In Tokyo, there were 4 charecter carrying floats: Flora's Gazeebo, the 2 leaves and Merryweather's Gazeebo. We only have the first Gazeebo and I think it can only carry 4/5 charecters safley.  :|

Short review of the Halloween Fantillusion,
In the 2 months since Summer, the floats have obviously just been left in a shed...
Garden
- To start, the underliner was slightly out of sync with the floats
- On [strike:112rqdpq]Flora's[/strike:112rqdpq] Tinkerbell's gazeebo there was a sequence or two flashing (flashing means there's either a bulb that's dead or missing in that sequence)
- Enchanted Butterfly garden completely missing
- Only 2 Butterfly dancers in the entire Garden section (as I predicted earlier in the thread, because the charecters are now out of the Gazeebo, they've cut the number of winged/webbed dancers)

Villains
- Flotsam and Jetsom's eyes were both out and also another sequence flashing
- Bat Forest was placed at the end of the Villains section (should be infront of Maleficent) and subsequently clashed with the Happy Ending underliner.

Happy Ending
- Few flashing sequences in the happy ending.
- The castle ledge that Minnie stands on was completely dark![/list]

Poor show... here's the vids
[youtube:112rqdpq]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKjQOlZ6rYg[/youtube:112rqdpq]

[youtube:112rqdpq]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6EWn6fN3ak[/youtube:112rqdpq]
I'm being very critical, but its only because a Disney Parade shouldn't have these faults! Especially after two months of no night time parade! :x

And another thing, how loud does DLP play the Underliner on this parade?! It's so loud you have to really listen closely to hear the different orchestration for all the floats!
In this video from the Tokyo production, the guy filming is quite a distance away from the first float but you can hear its music really clearly over the underliner, and all the other floats so much more clearly... even on a bad-ish recording from the nineties... rant over

I don't quite understand Fantillusion. The big floats for Ursula, Jafar and Maleficent are kind of bulky, borin and ugly looking.

When they transform into the monsters they look much better, but it seems they only transform once, in the middle of Main Street. 90% of the time they're in their non-transformed boring mode, which seems a waste.

The floats transform twice during the parade. Fanti has 2 showstops. The first Evil Villains showstop is on Central Plaza, the second showstop is in Main Street (if the parade is starting at the gates near it's a small world).

The parade was designed for Tokyo Disneyland's massive parade route & originally had 31 floats. For most places on their parade route, you were guarenteed that each section of the parade would showstop in front of you.
Paris on the other hand has 12 of the original floats, and although all 3 showstops were orignially performed, for viewers on central plaza, they've messed with the parade so much that you can only see 2 of the showstops wherever you stand;
So, the excellent Good vs. Bad story that the parade originally brought is kinda ruined...
It'll never be back how it was designed to be either because DLP don't allocate a big enough cast   Not many people will know that when black light is shined on the side of Ursula's float, she has loads more tenticles that are hidden for the "moving" sections, oh how brilliant an idea this parade was *sigh*

The places where you'll see the Enchanted Garden showstops are Main Street and Town Square
''                   ''            the Evils Villains showstops are Cental Plaza and Main Street
''            ''                ''      the Happy Ending showstops are The Royal Castle Stage and Central Plaza

I saw it on the hub in July and it was a fab spot. We were sat on the pavement sort of a quater of a way around, if you imagine that the big stage is a clock, we were at 9 o clock  :D  Saw the Jafar and then Aladdin stops.

This time though, I'm gonna try it on Main Street 'cause the underliner is less in your face and you can hear the float music more clearly + I've never seen the Enchanted Garden showstop so should be good

Hey guys, this brilliant video of Tokyo Disneyland's original 1995 production of Disney's Fantillusion! has just appeared on YouTube! If you want to see how this awesome spectical should be performed, take a look!
Back then it was less of a "parade" and much more of a "streetacular"  :D

Thanks for the video, but I think I have already seen it a year ago. I have only watched the first 10 minutes, but it looks familiar.

Fantillusion was so much better in Tokyo. Another proof that that TDR is the best Disney resort around the globe.

Why did DLRP cut so much? But I have to admit that I like Fantillusion in Paris, too. It's the only nighttime parade I have seen, despite Spectromagic at WDW. That's a really bad parade.

I did post that actual video when I opened this thread (it was in three different parts), but the guy's account got suspended soon after I opened the thread so I had to change them to different videos. Now that it's back (and in one long video), I think all should see how great this beautiful pageant once was!  :D

Why did DLRP cut so much? I think it came down to a range of reasons... some floats were too wide or too long to manouvre our smaller parade route. But we surely could have had more than 12!! Tokyo DL's parade route is mamouth compared to Paris' so it had the capacity for 31 floats all at the same time.
And, mainly, budget. Could you really imagine a parade of that scale at Paris?  :P
There were 160 performers in Tokyo's version... our parade has around 40 (probably less). Plus, you have to remember drivers, parade shaparones etc...

Thanks for the answer Festival Disney!

I'm sure that cost cutting was the main reason, but I didn't know that the parade route at TDL is so much bigger.

Here is a vid I made July 14th. The fantillusion Parade was having problems, like one float missing (the butterfly) and only one show stop. Also the floats were not moving smoothly.

Although I think it hasn't been confirmed officially it is very likely that Fantillusion will be performed each night during "Disney's Enchanted Christmas" season (7th November 2011 - 8th January 2012), like it has been in the past years.

I LOVE it. It is so magical and gives me goosebumps every time. My big bug is the stops for ages I could never see all of the badies at once so I was running back and forth to get them all on video haha and the princesses is so lovely when they stop. My son adores it and the lights are really soothing for him I will be so sad if it is not on this christmas season and even sadder if they lose it forever. I hope they bring back another illuminated type parade and don't ditch it all together.

I've never been in the right place to see any of the Fantillusion floats "change". I've heard outside Walts is good to see Jafar's change, and I vaguely remember Maleficent's change being in front of the Castle? Any other ideas for a good spot to watch Fantillusion to see a good "change"?

Thanks,

I felt like it changed nightly just to get to me!! The places I saw the stops though were just by the castle stage seat things for the princesses where the walkway up to the castle is for the dragon, opposite the popcorn stand which is opposite the main stage near frontier land for Ursula and Jafar was like in between the two. I never saw any other stops I don't know what they do!! I wish it was made clear as to where everything is. I SO hope it is on for christmas I am sooooo excited about it!!

Oh right. If they no longer sell it, then that's good news because it no longer has any commercial value.

I've converted the documentary into an iTunes/iPhone/iPad friendly MPEG-4 video, which anyone is welcome to have if they ask me. The file is excellent quality and 974 MB in size. Here's a look at the chapters:

It would be nice to see an update or maybe even a new night-time Parade for Disneyland Paris. But since Fantillusion is only preformed in Summer and Christmas I feel it would be a waste of money to spend money of a product that few Guests will enjoy. Until or if ever Disneyland Paris becomes serious about adding a daily night-time parade to the line up. I say keep Fantillusion the way it is and lets spend the money on more important things.

If there's ever going to be a new night-time parade, I'd want it to have a strong story like Fantillusion's. That's what made it stand above other parades, IMO. And another epic soundtrack. There's no other parade that gets everyone subconsciously tapping their hands in time with the beat. XD

Bring back Main St Electrical Parade!  I won't be too devastated to see Fantillusion gone.  The parade never captured my imagination in the way MSEP did.

I think they should drop the parade and bring back more daytime shows in videopolis.  That would surely be cheaper and more productive for the resort.

I will be gutted if Fantillusion is not on during Christmas Season, along with Mickeys Winter Wonderland.  The electrical parade and ice skating show make Christmas season special, even though we now have Dreams which is awesome.
I am taking a friend for her first trip in late November for her 60th birthday, and she has been looking forward to seeing these.
I still prefer the original Main Street Eelctrical Parade though, and would love to see that return. I was hoping they would do this for 20th Anniversary which would have been very fitting.
I am hoping that InsideDLParis is correct, and Fanti at least will be on at Christmas.
I sent an email to Guest Communication after my June trip with general comments ( and commending some lovely Cast Members I met ) and asked about Fanti & MWW, but as per usual have not had a reply. Falls on deaf ears I think.

When I was there last January Cast Members were saying that this was the last showing of Fantillusion, and it was then being shipped over to the USA. Based on this, I booked my next trip for June instead of Summer Time, for fewer crowds, if I couldn't see the electrical parade. Then it is on this summer after all, so I hate missing it!
Very hard knowing exactly what to believe...

Everytime I went to WDW they either had MSEP or Spectro so maybe would be nice for Fantillusion to go there for a while.

As for it being in DLP for Christmas I don't know how true that is I was told by a CM it's not going to be there because this oh so wonderful (I'll reserve judgement until I see it) Dreams is on instead.

Great. I finally get over from the US to visit DLP and they are getting rid of Fantillusion. If they are shipping it to the US that would be highly ironic for me, and just my luck.

In my quest to find every video of Tokyo's Fantillusion! on the net, I've found another hidden in the YouTube archives! Damn people not tagging their videos properly  :P

[youtube:df0ujqf9]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyHbpOtdjbY[/youtube:df0ujqf9]

The thing I like most about Tokyo's production was the professionalism with which the parade was presented; each performer having a strict and well rehearsed routine, the drivers keeping to a standard speed, the underliner not played way too loud to the point where you have to listen hard for each float loop, the floats themselves painstakingly and lovingly maintained with hardly any dead bulbs, beautiful costumes that match and interact with the parade... Oh and the fact there were 31 floats, not 12. I think that probably has something to do with it

There's quite a lot of hidden ones on YouTube. I think this one is even better quality:

I think I'll make a public playlist with all the vids I've found  :P

In an interview with Deidcated to DLP Podcast, the Show Director seemed to think it was coming back. He certainly didn't say that it wouldn't! Still strange that there's nothing in the brochures... but we shall see  8)

Even if we could keep a little hope concerning the return of the parade just before the summer, a Disney Forum teaches us that certain units of the parade should be reconverted for the Cavalcade of Christmas 2013

Sad, sad news. Fantillusion was always my favourite parade of all the daytime and nighttime ones.

Can this be true??   Or is it a big error??

On the Disney Travle Company page, they mention the Fantillusion Parade for the 2013 Christmas season  [-o<

//http://www.disneyholidays.co.uk/disneyland-paris/planning-holiday/enchanted-christmas/

I hope that this is not a big error, but my gut say it is

It has to be wrong, Fantillusion is mostly broke up.
