Title: Disneyland Hotel Window
Post by: Festival Disney on April 19, 2010, 01:16:15 AM
Hi guys,
I have done a search, and couldn't find any answer to this so I thought I'd ask here.  :)

These windows on the front of the Disneyland Hotel are different to the others. Anyone know why?

 Oh yeah! Never noticed! But if you look closer there are more windows to the right and up that are different from the others. I  have a photo that show some to the left. And my photo is from August 2006. So they've been there a while... Hmmm!

I have also recognized these different windows during our last trip.

Maybe the windows have broken and the old windows aren't produced anymore and so they had to use others.

That seems silly. Every Joe Schmoe can get such windows made to fit, so surely Euro Disney, a company that has fake mountains made, can get an old-timey window that resembles the old one. It must be just a sloppy renovation.

Just thought I'd update this.
Now, only one of the original windows remains. The others are of the new style.  :?

Thats a shame, I prefer the old style, but if they're breaking the cost would be higher for them.

Could be related to changes in legislation on emergency escape out of windows - in the UK, you have to be able to get out of them in the event of an emergency.

If that's the reason, why didn't Disney change all four windows?

If you are not stopping here can you still go inside to have a look around? We are going for Christmas & would love to take some pics of the christmas decorations.

Could it be possible they're switching from wooden window casements to plastic ones? That seems to be popular. But even so, those plastic things do come in the old style:

There's just no need for this.

Whilst watching "The Grand Opening of Euro Disney", I spottted something!
(//http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/74482be092.jpg) (//http://www.freeimagehosting.net/)
Look at the window's! They were of the "New Style"
Which means that the old "criss-cross" style was actually installed afterwards, and now are being put back to how they were originally...  :?

Back on topic now... that picture above was from "The Grand Opening of Euro Disney" which was filmed a few days before the parks opening... but this picture taken on April 11th (1992) shows the other style of window  :?
strange...

Perhaps there's an interesting tale to tell over the Disneyland Hotel Window which would mysteriously change style over night from day to day!

I think I have an idea about that. On my last visit I noticed that every window on that front part open in the same way even if they are "old" or "new", so I started thinking about the windows my uncle have on his house where the criss crossing middle part that makes the windows look old actually can be taken off the window to be painted. They are just sitting on top of the glass like decoration. This might be the case here, no windows changed, just the way they look.

I thought the same as you. Maybe the criss crossy bit has just been taken off to clean the windows and the photos just capture different windows being cleaned?

I can't think of any other explanation to be honest. I can't see Health and Safety legislation being that different in 1992 to what it is now and there's no way Disney couldn't have those windows made specifically.
