Part of the Disney New Generation Festival (//http://www.photosmagiques.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7601) from 2nd April 2010
It seems Minnie's Party Train will be losing its polka dots after all.

Spot the unexpected character?
(Continued from ICHAPMAN and smurfy74's posts in the main New Generation Festival topic (//http://www.photosmagiques.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=156560#p156560))
Bit concerned here. It seems the bright colours of Alpha-Bet-You-Are meet our faithful train. Cool to see an overlay after all, but was again hoping for something more toned down. Can you imagine this with Halloween or Christmas decoration?
AMAZINGLY HAPPY about the mini Wall-E though. Very cool :)
I'm exited to see it for real in June or July :)
I'm sure they'll make it work for Halloween and Christmas with some efford ^__^
Sadly the link isn't working for me though :(
Hi,
If the link doesn't work for you, please try again in a few hours; the domain recently got moved to a new server, and you might still be going to its old location which might show an error.
This will resolve itself auto-magic-ally though :)
Wall-e would be brilliant although would it be an anamatronic that just sat there whilst the other characters left the train? If he does actually end up on the train! I wouldn't mind though at least it's new, unlike all the rest of the characters who we have seen around the parks for years (appart from Tiana and Naveen).
Wall-E would be the only reason to watch Disney's All Star Express.
I'd watch it at least once anyway because it's new, but Wall-e is certainly an extra incentive :)
I just hope there won't be too many people sticking their blasted cameras out in front of me so I get random arms in the picture X_x
Remember you saw it first on the magicforum...
Wall-e looks awesome in his little coal car :)
thanks Kristof - now im excited about seeing this in June - any idea about this being an AA - will he stay on the train?? i guess so
Will it even be an animatronic? I'm just imagining a static figure, like the Luigi/Guido/Mike Wazowski figures in the Studios...
Do you know for sure Kristof, dear Kristof? :)
Ooooh I would go back just to see this!!
An animatronic would be great, but I'm with Anthony on this, I think it will be a static figure. They would have advertised this a lot more otherwise
Wall-e looks really great, but I also think that he will be just a plastic figure. Maybe he is waving with his arm.
Didn't WDI build a Wall-e audio-animatronic for DCA? That would be a great addition to NGF.
Quote from: "dagobert"Didn't WDI build a Wall-e audio-animatronic for DCA? That would be a great addition to NGF.
They built it more for promotional visits. It can't be used in the parks because of the size and weight apparently.
Last I saw DCA had a cardboard cut-out photo op, not even a 3D figure.
Thanks for posting these concepts, Kristof! WALL-E looks great. Giving the fact that he poses differently on those two angles, I think he will actually move, but limited.
@ Dagobert: Yes, they did built an actual size WALL-E audio-animatronic (the most advanced AA ever created by WDI). He visited Disneyland and here's a short video.
[youtube:1j1u9f4r]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=As7UQtKX00c[/youtube:1j1u9f4r]
Oh, soooo cute! I want to take him home with me! Our WALL-E will not be this advanced or big, but it's nice to see, isn't it?
Thanks fro posting the video, tuvok. He is so cute and one of my favorite Pixar characters. I would love to see this Wall-E audio animatronic in Paris.
I have no information at all if he'll move or not, but I guess they'll have him move his head or arms or whatever. :)
How precious is Wall-e in that youtube video...so cute.
CafeMickey.com has some exclusive pics from NGF.. this is the All Stars Express!

Wow, thats one ugly train...
Good god. Just when you thought the Minnie Mouse polka dot overlay was the worst thing they ever did to Casey Jr.
You know what? I actually like this design. It's very 'busy' and 'colorful', but it fits the NGF theme. Great to see WALL-E. The absolute highlight of the train this year! But why do we need those Toy Story characters again? I'm growing tired of them.
Oh my god. Poor Casey Jr.! This train looks so ugly. What happened to the designers after the 15th birthday? This train looks even worse than Minnie's Party Train.
I wouldn't bother to miss this this train driving down Main Street USA. Maybe I want to see it once to get a picture of Wall-e.
They thing is, it isn't Casey Jr. any more, at least not to the Entertainment designers. It's just a train to them...
Definitely a poor job with the decorations. The only good part should be Wall-E if he does move.
Can you imagine what the train will look like in 10 years time, having seen many more themed years and celebrations?
The colours are terrible, but wait 'til you hear the music. 'Tous en train' like you've never heard it before! I'd say Tiana's entrance in DOUADP and her TS show are more tasteful by far
I wish DLP Entertainment would stop mining local crèches and daycares for ideas.
I think part of the problem is that Entertainment keeps trying to do far too much with far too little. I mean, due to budget constraints, they can't afford to build a brand new float. But they don't want something subtle and small either, no, they want to make sure you spot the difference! So it's: 'allo Castorama? How much neon-green paint can we get for €500? How much is fiberglass confetti if we buy it in bulk?
That's entirely the point - well said. Rather than adding embellishments that they can afford, they try to make something different... which actually isn't. Grr. Everyone will recognise that train from the Wonderful World Of Disney Parade let alone it's previous express incarnations
oh.my.god.
C'mon that isn't really what Casey Jnr is going to look like, is it?

I just heard the new 'Tous en train' . Really really weird!!!!!!
Where did you guys hear the new music? And what's weird about the 'new' Tous en Train then?
ok i want to hear this new version too :)
Not sure this is the place to report this, but now that they've taken the Train off to be repainted and ready for the NGF, they characters are still coming up Main Street to the Castle, only in the Main Street vehicles!! Donald was in the police car...
But the best bit was the music... We saw them driving down Main Street, and instead of the All Aboard song, they were playing Dancin' a catchy rythm!!! It was absolutely brilliant to hear that great song playing again in the park... :D/ :-" =D>

thats great. is it a once a day thing on on the hour in the mornings do you know?
I don't remember seeing it in the program (but to be honest I didn't study it very carefully, so maybe I missed it) We only saw it once in the morning, but there could have been other times as well, I don't know. Sorry...

It was part of a press information CD we got. Its a mix of Tous en Train/Toy Story/Small World ...

Hmm. That's indeed a rather strange choice of theme's in one song.
Is this 'press information cd' also available for us to listen too? I'm very curious to hear all the new music.
Woohoo - im going next week and to think i can hear Dancin' again is great any ideas of what times they went up and down main street as we are only in the Disney Park for one day and would hate to miss it
Anthony will be pleased though, no shrieking Minnie voice in it! ;-)

Yeah - indeed!
Thats the big great PLUS!!!!! *lol*

we saw them leaving from the Castle down to Main Street around 12:45.
Everyone, brace yourselves. Here's a short version of the new Tous en Train: Click! (//http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WM9882_4zDw)
I can't begin to describe how bad this is. Such a wonderful original song, ruined!
What the hell is that utter wierdness
Zipedeedoodah
Its a small world
Toy Story
Tous en train
Any more?
My word....
It is the definition of "mangled". (Not that the original song was exactly a masterpiece...)
Said straight from the mouth from my 4 year old daughter.
" I don't like it, i like the other one. Can you click off that please and make it go away "
Wrong on many levels. Its horrible.
I almost miss Minnie's voice... That is a real mess of a song, they've completely ruined it. Wall-e should be a fully functioning, talking animatronic to make up for this atrocity.
Now I really wish they would keep Dancin' a catchy rythm...
here is a longer ersion of it as well
[youtube:3ppd4z3x]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfi97NxUnwA[/youtube:3ppd4z3x]
I just LOVED the old 'Tous en Train'-song, but this is just really horrible :O
I like the idea of mixing 'new' songs with it, but not in this way! Please DLP, don't use such a non-magical song for this 'parade'...
i do like the newone just dont like it being mixed with the other songs
I like the main tune but why did they have to put the tinny tunes in the background????
It sounds like someone ran the original through a "Techno sound mixer 9000" with the entire disney/pixar theme song catalog mixed in for no reason at all :l
yuck its difficult to imagine a less magical song :S an OK idea for incorporating the newer tunes, terribly executed.
Hopefully this is not an indication of the quality we are to expect from the entire NGF soundtrack!
I like it, its a bit more upbeat and less repetitive than the old song.
My only issue with it was the abrupt cuts but they are not present in the longer version.
Tous en Train got a bit boring after hearing it a few times, it needed freshening up.
I was actually starting to hate the song (the same way as I do with Dancin').
If they wanted to freshen the music up they should have used the second track off Tokyo's Parade and lopped it alongside Tous en Train. I know its probably money related but it would fit brilliantly.
I really wasn't expecting the remix until I heard it last week. I like the idea of incorporating other themes into this now 'classic'. I guess it suits the style of the NGF with the old blending with the new. The quality does indeed sound bad, however the acoustics of the park might help make up for this. I certainly congratulate DLP for their efforts and willingness to change stuff. Just think if they hadn't made all those silly posters, they could've afforded non-synthesized sounds!

This is the first test run. Not all the new characters are on the train yet. Wall-E looks great!
Source: Elessar, Disney Central Plaza Forum
the old train has scrubbed up pretty well - the more of the NGF i see the more i really think they are on to a winner this - the new merchandise is great, and it looks like the NGF is being executed well
Looks pretty cool!
The new design looks great, but it that 'Minnie-themed' car gonna stay? :S
Quote from: "JelleP"The new design looks great, but it that 'Minnie-themed' car gonna stay? :S
Couldn't agree more. The two redecorated carriages are a big improvement (the green is nice), but that Minnie's Party Train leftover in the middle... yeurkk. Unfortunately it looks exactly like that on the concept art. Not too thrilled about the engine either, still looks silly with a red face.
But hey, WALL-E is fantastic! Apparently he doesn't move or make noise, but who'da thought DLP would be the first to incorporate him in a parade?! A very nice surprise from this.
What face? All I see is streamers.
The first video of Disney All Stars Express. The music doesn't sound that bad after all. Good to just hear the old voice from the Character Express at the very beginning again ('The Disney All Stars Express is coming!!!'). I LOVE Wall-E!
[youtube:31l3gs0d]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_djpo-z8UQ[/youtube:31l3gs0d]
It seems to be way more enjoyable than Minnie's Party Train last year - especially the visual part, although I agree that the MPT left-over in the middle does seem out of place :?
Wall-E is great even though he doesn't have moves or sound - just that he is there is very nice.
BUT this must be the last time that they can "restart" this concept...
This version definately looks nicer than the MPT version, and the music is more lively - it actually looks 'new' if I didn't know it was the 4th incarnation of Casey Jr. The two main things I can see that seem strange are that the pistons on Casey don't move anymore (I swear they did on Character Express?) and the second section is still Minnie themed, surely just a coat of white would cover the spots?
Ah well, it's a nice addition to the park what still has a bit of a magical feel to it - I agree that it's nice to have the "All Star Express is coming!" voice back! Let's hope for the 20th it is retired and a fresh concept comes in!
i really like this, i like the decoration of casey jr better than last years :) and i think the song is really catchy too! im glad they've added WALL.E he looks really cute, im glad he's featured!
Definately much better than Minnie's Party train which looked like no real thought went into it last year. I actually really like the vaiation on the music, the only bit I think sounds a bit wrongly edited is during the 'small world' tune. When you have been a good few times in the past few years since the Character express was first introducted for the 15th you get pretty fed up of the exact same music so I welcome the change. It is a pity Wall.E doesn't actually do anything as the model itself looks brilliant! :D I think they did well, I like the new flags at the top of the train too! :D
The music sounds much better in the video than the recording! personally i would have liked to see more "new generation" characters included, but maybe the characters won't always be the same.
A bit of an improvement on Minnie's Party Train and I also like Wall-E :) can't wait to see this in ooo just 7 months and 3 weeks! lol
I've actually missed that train on my last visit.
Though the music is much better again without Minnie's voice over it.
I love the Wall-E in front!
But there aren't many New Generation characters on it indeed, but maybe that'll change.
Trust me to be in the park the day before all of the NGF events debut!
I must say that I have mixed feelings about this new look, although they're mostly positive. I don't mind the new soundtrack, and I actually think that the new songs (as random as they are) help to make it less repetitive. I love seeing Wall-E intergrated into it; fantastic idea! =D> I also like the idea of the three different carriages (the first for the New Generation, second for Minnie and the rest of the fab five, and the third for any others) too. I don't like the colours on the front of the train though, and some of the others do clash quite a bit too. Overal though, it's a definite improvement on last years tradegy!
Wall-E is a great addition but what about those garish colours? Awful in my opinion. It might be a true likeness of this new generation of Disney, but shouldn't we still aspire to something more subtle and classy. Hmm
[youtube:3sezvuen]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27FMKE6_g7U[/youtube:3sezvuen]
I just hate it when people can't hold their camera steady! Back ontopic: the music sounds not that bad and it has a real 'new gen' spirit. The effects (besides the smoke now) aren't working, so we can't be sure if Wall-E can move or not. I'm surprised to see the train leave through the Royal Castle Stage and the Small World gates! That's very nice!
Oooooh I've liking it. You hear so much less of the beat-box effect when it's live. I'm getting more used to the float now, but just 2 Incredibles on one trailer... come on. You can do better than that - at least I hope so once the festival begins. The only thing that's bugging me now is the speaker on the engine element itself. So blatantly obvious and spoils the overall design
The train looks actually quite good!
About the video: I understand you were thrilled, but isn't this a litte to much excitement...
[youtube:p5w105tt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQNC1qwu7Z4[/youtube:p5w105tt]
Here's my video from the All Star Express. Sorry about the quality - I needed a quick upload. At the end there are lots of close-ups of the Wall-E float. It is NOT an Animatronic...
Even if it seems like a dunb question, doe the train not stop anymore or is that just not seen on the videos?
Aurora
The train comes up Main Street, around Central Plaza Stage and stops in front of the castle then the characters disperse in all directions.
The train has stopped at the end of my video!
MM
When the actual festival starts I hope to god they don't have gepetto on the train! Like how "old" can you get for a "new generation festival"
The characters on the train don't add up to making this a "New Generation" train.
I thought it would have been Woody+Buzz, Remy+Emily(generaly Pixar Characters) Lilo+Stitch ect.
I think the train looks fantastic. I do think it woulod be better if all the characters on the float were the new characters because having pixar charcters next to classic characters looks a bit strange to me but that is only my opinion.I also think mickey and co should be on there but the rest new generation charcters.

"bringing several new characters to Disneyland Park for the first time" quote from dlrptoday.com
2..maybe 3 - tiana, Naveen and well we may as well count walle even if he is only a statue really  unless this is refering to the characters who hoped from the studos over to the parks lol :P I suppose then we could say several :P
to me Wall-E is very disapointing I think he should be animated! DLP could of done oh so much better
I was expecting atleast a little movement from Wall-e.
kinda dissapointed, even if it was a form of puppet. Oh well.

I think out of all the versions of casey junior my favourite design was the 15th aniversary train.
Thanks Magic M for answering, just saw it today( no april fool joke :D ). Maybe I was too tired to notice the stop... But sure am glad it still stops.
Aurora
Thats cool - glad you liked the video! I'm a bit of a "Hit Whore" at the moment and I'm really pleased its being watched by so many people!
I've just had a thought regarding characters, how nice would it be to see the Bugs Life/Monsters Inc characters on a float with Incredibles. Kind of a 'Pixar Influence' section. They could do a second float with 'Disney Classic' section with Princess and the Frog (non face characters) and the Bolt characters and then finished it off with a 'Live Action' section with the Enchanted and Jack Sparrow characters.
To me, if I saw that going past I'd think "oh, it's all the new characters!" as opposed to "oh, it's all the regular characters!". I know there's costs involved with getting the new costumes, and it's fantastic that we've got Boo, Mike, Tiana and Naveen out and about, but imagine the reception they would have got if they'd loaded it with all new, or rare, characters! Would be a fantastic sight to see!
They could even work Up characters onto it too!
I was expecting UP! characters to be used too.
Most the characters aren't really "New" would have been great to see the UP gang in the park.

I too am gutted about Wall-E! I love him! They never put the effort in with the smaller characters. I remember there was a remote controlled Nemo ages ago, and he soon disappeared!
Everyone loves the infectious "Waaaalleeeee". BIG opportunity missed in my opinion!
omg how cute is Boo and Angel!! :D :D :D :D Thanks for the link Kristof!! I wish I had my holiday booked but I wont be able to even consider booking till later in the year :(
Angel is adorable!
I've been thinking recently why she isn't doing meet&greets.. till I came to the conclusion that possibly dlp only have one Angel costume. For the show only?
my daughter also thought Angel is cute. I almost had to hold her back, Angel came down the stage on our side and Lara, out of joy, almost jumped over the fence..We had to go ask at City Hall, if there was a meet and greet...

Just got back from Disneyland last night (some semblance of a trip report and photos of my scrapbooking when done to follow) and I can't get the new version of the Minnie Train music out of my head! I loved the way it was jazzed up with the different Disney melodies playing underneath it, does anyone have a sound recording of it, I would be very grateful! I would have bought it had it been on sale, but there were very, very few CDs for purchase this year. x
All Stars Express! The proper name has just come to me! Sorry!
I liked it a lot with the music and the characters. The song is really catchy and it took a while for me to get the song out of my head. I don't know if I prefer the original train though (the Disney Character's Express??) from the 15th Anniversary.

I loved this version of the music! Does anyone have a sound file of it?! x
This video was uploaded to YouTube yesterday, but it's not the NEW version. It's from the original Character Express from the 15th birthday. Enjoy ;)
