Part of the
Disney New Generation Festival (//http://www.photosmagiques.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7601) from 2nd April 2010Straight out of Disney's The Princess and the Frog, Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen will join the 'Dreams of Romance' finale float in Disney's Once Upon a Dream Parade and meet guests during a special musical animation on Town Square.
QuoteTiana, new star of Disney's Once Upon a Dream Parade
After a long and perilous trip from New Orleans, crossing the Bayou with its many encounters and emotions, Princess Tiana saw her dreams come true in a way she had never imagined. Now, starting 2 April 2010, she will begin a new adventure side by side with Prince Naveen in Disney's Once Upon a Dream Parade. They join Ariel, Belle, Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and their Princes on the "Dreams of Romance" float, an enchanting moment when visitors' favorite Disney classics come to life.
And that's not all: Princess Tiana and her Prince Naveen will meet 'n' greet guests and pose for photographs at Town Square Gazebo, with lively music by the Dixieland Band inspired by the music from the film.*
* During certain periods throughout the year.

She'll squeeze onto the final float
I wonder if we will get a new mix of music for the final float to include Princess Tiana then.
Thats a lot of Princesses on one float.

Is there even any room for her on the last float?

Time will tell!
So you know what was cut from the New Generation Festival? This...

Yeah, it looks expensive, so I can see why it went, but I'd happily see the generic Central Plaza show and any possible show at The Chaparral Theater (particularly Goofy's Summer Camp) cancelled in favour of this, wouldn't you?
It would have definately brought the molly brown or the mark twain to life if it was in fronterland hehe!
It's a pity really, I would rather they put the money into the right things although I guess they feel they are...
Tiana actually gets a mention in the 12th Nov reports.. She will be coming next year (but only to join the parades as a character)
I wish Alan Menken had done the music to this film. I just can't imagine this elevator music ever having the same "you only have to hear the first three notes" effect on people. Although these things have to grow on you, I suppose. But anyway, yes, I would trade the current entertainment roster for this... Though probably not the Tarzan Encounter.
Not a Randy Newman fan?

I rather like the "Going down the Bayou" song but not so sure on the others, particularly "Down in New Orleans" that was in the first trailer. Too much rambling.

Is there a Family Guy clip for every situation?
"Rambling" is the word. It's all so talky and placid, like every song of his was designed for a mediocre singer, like he's expecting Danny DeVito to do the vocals and he's heard he can only sing three different notes. It works perfectly for a Pixar buddy film, but it doesn't work for the sort of animated Disney feature that has an "I want song" in it somewhere, the kind of sweepy-swoopy don't-believe-me-ask-the-dishes thing that secretly aspires to be adapted as a Broadway show. (I think. It isn't out yet.)
Wouldn't you be just a trifle bored standing in that audience? Oh God, I think I'm about to say something nice about Phil Collins.
Quote from: "pussinboots"Is there a Family Guy clip for every situation?
Apparently so. There must have been about 10,000 cutaway gags by now.
Quote from: "pussinboots"Wouldn't you be just a trifle bored standing in that audience?
No! There's people dancing and singing live on the Mark Twain! With a live band!
I do wonder about the logistics of the show though. How do they commandeer the boat and keep all those props ready? Where do they all go when the riverboat rounds the bend? It's understandable that Paris just threw it out on that basis immediately.
Tiana and Prince Naveen showed up this weekend somewhere in the castle!

She was at DLP this weekend?

It just goes into the freight dock near big thunder and loads unloads the performers same as when its used for Fantasmic and loaded unloaded there along with the Tea Clipper.. Theres also a small area near here, just by BTM thats a small prop holding area and costume changing room ..
Thanks for the info!
So thinking about Paris, it would require the boat to reverse into the maintenance dock right at the back next to Chaparral Theatre, which would also require the Molly Brown to be out and running. Either that or they'd have to unload by boat somewhere.
Expensive and complicated. I hope the two of them get a good feature in the "showtime spectacular" (lower case).

Not really you would just have to have the capability of having a different viewing area around the lake for the public, unfortunately Paris doesnt really have an area developed like this.. Its easy to do in Anaheim as the main loading dock and the main viewing area for both fantasmic and that show are almost opposite each other on the lake..

WDW version had no live singing or speaking...
And this is why DIsneyland will always be the very best of the parks.
I believe in WDW the performers do a little parade to the boat loading dock.
Then they get on the boat and do the shown, then the boat does a full circle before parking up at the normal dock.
Then the little parade thing goes in reverse.
If it came to Paris I should imagine the performers could come from the castle or Phantom Manor.
Post from an Orlando blog:
QuoteIn the meantime, a cast member told me this weekend she had heard that the show was going to Disneyland Paris, and Disney World's costumes would be sent over.
But another cast member told me she had heard that most of the current cast were young adults on Disney's College Program who were returning to school, and rumor had it when they trained new performers, the show would be brought back.
http://thedailydisney.com/blog/2010/01/ ... ris-bound/ (http://thedailydisney.com/blog/2010/01/farewell-to-tianas-showboat-jubilee-but-is-it-paris-bound/)
Anyone know if there's any truth to either of those? It would be wonderful if Paris reconsidered and brought it in as a Summer event, on the boat or not. After all, the HSM cast are looking for work...
Is Tiana going to be in the parks after the NGF? Or will she be leaving because DLP can't afford to keep her costume any longer
Nothing is guaranteed. I mean, when was the last time you saw the characters from Treasure Planet, the Ice Queen of Narnia, the princess from Enchanted etc.? I suspect Tiana could end up like them. Or maybe we will get lucky and she will stick around like Mulan did to add diversity to the princesses.
If there is a Tiana happening, i'm assuming the meet and greet after will be the usual character scrum
I was hoping she was going to do her meet and greet with a band playing live next to her.
I've split and combined some posts to form this official topic for all things Princess Tiana.
To get us up to date, here's the press release snippet:

Ok im assuming that the dixieland band will only play during certain periods or is that the meet and greet will only happen during certain periods?
I'm not sure, depends how much of a "happening" it really is - whether it'll just be a meet 'n' greet with a band or if there's some show element like Mary Poppins.
In any case, surely Princess Tiana will be available to meet all year given how heavily she's being promoted?
I must say that they're really promoting the movie very heavily. The shops are full of merchandising, it's been a long long time since I saw so much merchandise of a movie in DLP I must say.
So I do think that there will be Tiana meet and greets at some point. Hopefully before the summer even. I bet she'll just appear like the other princesses, possibly together with Naveen, which would be lovely.
Personally I was really hoping they'd do Louis and Dr Facillier meet and greets but that doesn't seem like it'll happen :(
Tiana and Naveen made a surprise appearance at the Disneyland Hotel today in a soft opening / testing of their characters at Disneyland Paris!
I personally do not have pictures that I can post, but my friend does. If I can get access to them I shall post them!
Does anyone else have pictures? Anyone else there today?
:D Can't wait to see some pics!
Aw wow cool! :D
Yes, please, show us these pictures! I`m curios to seee them.

Omg can't wait to see the pics.
Don't know if anyone has posted these pictures here before, but I quite like them ;)

Wow, I Love Tiana's cold/wet day alternative dress.
Now im not the expert at commenting on pictures, but the photo of Tiana with the princesses looks like they just slapped her into the photo, it doesnt look like a professional photo shoot with them.
Then again I may be wrong.
I love the one of her looking out the castle window, not keen on her wet/cold dress though.
Interesting design on that showtimes board... Think I prefer the top section.

Glad you agree with me Anthony (and im not going crazy lol)...how embarrased would i of been if it was a offical photo shoot. lol

Maybe there's a bit of in-fighting with the princesses and they won't all pose together at once?
Its awful. Still looks fake.
Does anyone know if at the meet and greet at Town Square will there be a professional photographer for photos?
Quote from: "littlemermaid83"Its awful. Still looks fake.
They are all fake, that is why I always laugh at the monster queues to meet these young people.
So you expect all the parents to tell there young children the characters are just random people dressed up? Talk about spoiling the magic.
I think I will let my child figure that out herself.
Official video footage of Tiana and Naveen:
[youtube:ysfh0jqc]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnV5X4hvLlA[/youtube:ysfh0jqc]
Since Mary Poppins is now gone from the programme, I presume this Town Square event replaces it?
Thanks for posting Anthony, looks like there is no offical photographer (darn it).
Where is the live band that is meant to play songs from the movie??? Will they be there after the 2nd?
Sorry to be a pain but any news if there is a park photographer here for this event for purchase of photos?
^I've no idea...
Disneyland in California has one. He posts his pictures at the Disney Parks Blog.
But I'm not sure DLP has one too...

I hope they do as i want to get one of my DD with Tiana, Its always good incase my camera decides to play up.
Hopefully someone who has been recently will be able to confirm if there is one or not.
I hope they doo too as Im not very good with a camera lol
HI everyone,
We`ve just came back two days ago. We didn`t see any photographer at the Tiana photopoint. THere has been a band playing, wich made the waiting time a little nicer. And Naveen didn`t stop dancing all along. He even danced with my daughter =D>
I`ll post the pics, when I got a little more time.
Aurora
There is no official photographer, but you can ask the character host to help you out with a group photo. :-)
Quote from: "Kristof"There is no official photographer, but you can ask the character host to help you out with a group photo. :-)
But what are the parks policies about that though? Because when I went for a day with school in March, me and my friends saw Goofy in Adventureland and I asked the CM with him to take our photo. The CM then told me that they can't, and I have to ask someone else (a park guest) instead! Are they not allowed to do that??? :?
That's ridiculous. Management encourages CM's to offer assistance to guests who want a group shot.
Quote from: "Kristof"That's ridiculous. Management encourages CM's to offer assistance to guests who want a group shot.
Well I did think to myself why they wouldn't, be the CM literally told me that they aren't allowed to!? Strange! :-k
I've had CM taking pictures of us with a character before, I'm sure.
Very strange!
Never heard of that policie either. I always found the CM very friendly and helpful taking pictures. Ours at the Tiana photolocation was taken by a CM.
PS: I still think that skirt is too short... but looks good in real anyway...
Aurora
I have never had a problem with CMs taking pics for me, I'm a single parent and its the only way i can get pics with me and my daughter.
I was hoping the Tiana meet and greet would be a photospot where we can buy photos after but oh well, least we can take photos.
Don't know if this has been mentioned before.... but for the halloween season Dr Facilier will be sharing the photo location with Tiana and Naveen!!
So 30 mins with Tiana and Naveen followed by 30 mins with Facilier! He will also be in the "new-look" Halloween post-parade!
Quote from: "Poppy The Monkey"Don't know if this has been mentioned before.... but for the halloween season Dr Facilier will be sharing the photo location with Tiana and Naveen!!

Great! Thanks for sharing!
Well I now have one child who will not queue up to see Tiana if Dr Facilier is there, she is petrified of him.
Can't they do his meet and greet after Tiana has done her 3 daily ones because I will have one crying child if we get to the front of the meet and Tiana goes off for a break and out comes "mr scary man" (what DD calls him).
Great that we get a new character but FAIL if they mix him in with the Tiana meet.
have to agree on mixing the meet - all the girls will be wanting a princess meet, not a scary meet - its ok mixing princesses on the castle stage, but not a princess and a 'baddie'.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm - but good in that its another character out for halloween!
Poppys comment says 30 mins with Tiana then 30 mins with Facilier, so fingers crossed there'll only be a few minutes overlap.
Not going Halloween but I'd be interested to see how he will look as hes pretty scarey on the screen.
I personally think he should be in a completely different location. It's two very different groups of people who would want to meet each character.
Oh you lot are so critical of those photos ! They are lovely :) especially the one of Tiana looking out of the window. :D
I love the Princess one it makes me feel dead happy ! Even though im abit annoyed that Aurora isn't in pink!!! I stand by the theory that the book closed when she was in pink so she should always been seen in pink! :P hehehehe
ever so excited to go to DLP soon and meet Tiana... and hopefully dr facilier..!! Although at 17.. he still scares the heck out of me !
<3 Natalie
Quote from: "never2old"I've had CM taking pictures of us with a character before, I'm sure.
Very strange!
When I queued with my son to see mickey mouse it was just the two of us and when i had taken a couple of photos Mickey actually took my camera off me and gave it to the cast member and gestured to her to take a photo of us together :D
In 2008, while waiting for pictures with Aladdin and Jasmine.. a cast member called Daniel came up to us and asked if he wanted to take a picture for us :D im still amazed how he knew we were english straight away to be honest but ahh well the magic continues ! He was lovely and we didn't have to ask.. i think all CM ive encountered are like this too.. I think whoever found the Cm who wouldn't take a picture.. unlucky day!! :) Loll xx
The meet and greet is among one of the most orderly in the park, although do expect a fair wait to meet Tiana and Naveen,my daughter Rhianna was thrilled to meet them, she was in her Tiana costume & they took time to talk to her and pose for photos and sign her autograph book as they did with every other person young and old we saw them with!
The cm's did a great job of stopping the que jumpers which i must say was nice to see & it made for a much better experience than some of the scrums we had seen, which i didn't want my children to be a part of even if they did protest! My advice would be get to the Town Square in plenty of time(we got there 20mins before Tiana was due to arrive and only just got in the first group to see her),send anyone not interested in meeting them off to do something else, but to get such good interaction with some of our favourite characters was well worth the wait a chat with them & a kiss & a hug is much better than just a brief photo opportunity which is all we got with some!
I will try & post a pic for you all to see!

Thanks i think the pic is one of my favourites of the whole trip,i think there was a mix of nationalities among the cms taking control of procedings there were about 4present plus one who walked over with Tiana, there was one in particular who seemed to speak English,French & Spainish going up and done the line and keeping her eye out for anyone trying to slip through,at one point even running down the line and stopping someone who had sneaked in the exit to ask for an autograph, she was then backed up by the cm who was on that post,i wish i had caught her name on her badge as she went by as she did an excellant job which was a pleasure to see after noticing quite a few cms don't seem to notice/turn a blind eye i would definately be recommending her for a cast award :D

Thanks for posting Festival Disney!
I'm really getting in the mood for my trip now :)
Yes, the music around the meet and greet is great. It makes waiting a little easier. I hope they keep that there for a while.
Naveen and Tiana seem to "work" with the music. Lara even got to dance with him.

AW those pictures are gorgeous !! Such wonderful memories :D Prince Naveen looks so sweet -_- <3
I like those pics too, they are my favorites from the trip. Also because it was a lot of fun beeing there. Naveen definitly was sweet, no doubt  . He made us feel we were really special and that they had all the time in the world for us. He started making fun to me, like beeing a stubborn child, stomping his feet, asking "what if I don`t want to get on a picture". And I went, stomping my feet " but I want you to ".And as seen above, I got my will ;) .
A really funny and nice experience. We will definitly go in line again, when we are there in october.

I hope he really doesn't have fingers that long!!!
I really like these pictures of Dr. Facilier, very creepy and weird looking 8)
But ther's a but.....why a real face character and not like Hook or Jafar an mask?
Now you will always have to search for someone who looks a like Dr. Facilier or you will have to put
a lot of effort in it to make him look like him.
Or are there some guidelines for this?
Personally, I think that if the Disney character is a human character (not an animal) then they should be a face character. So I like the way they've implemented Dr. Facilier, vs the other Disney villains.
Captain Hook, for example, should have the face of a real person, not a big plastic head, because he's a human character too.
I like him, he's very believable which adds a creepiness to him (kinda like the Jack and Sally characters are). I'm not sure if they've just photoshopped his fingers to be that long, or if he's wearing gloves of some sort to lenghten them like Jafar has. His costume is great though, it'd be great to see him heading up the hub show this Halloween!
Either way, it's great to see a new character in the parks, they're really getting behind Princess and the Frog now and trying to get it in the parks as a standard set of characters to see! I just hope we get Louis soon!
(on a side note, is this the first time a Disney park has used him?)
Hey guys, yes his fingers are actualy that long. I believe they are gloves similar to Jafars.
Quote from: "Scissorsboi"(on a side note, is this the first time a Disney park has used him?)
No, WDW & DLR both had him for Tiana's Showboat Jubilee -
[youtube:2tep4gt0]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tA80uAcdYk[/youtube:2tep4gt0]
Don't forget the Queens and Gaston are real face character- Gaston is one of my favourite villains in the park as he is hilarious! I have footage of him preening himself in front of my camera during Halloween a few years ago
Its not always possible to have real face characters but where they can its great :D
Don't get me wrong, i do like the face characters, but where's the line in or a face or a mask figure?
Just like to know it, if anybody even knows this ;)
 I just had this image of someone working for Disney casting running up to somebody in the street-"You've got to come and work for us! You look exactly like Hook/Jafar.... Ursulla!"... The closest I'd get to being a face character would be Ursulla!  I am soooooo her twin! :P
I hadnt even thought about it you know. Where/how do they make that decision?
They advertise for face characters in The Stage newspaper in the UK or on the Disney Casting website. They give the height restrictions and characteristics and if you fall in that category you can attend an open audition. Its the same for all the face characters...Prince/Princesses, Tinkerbell (my height range) and now Dr Facilier. The audition for his was in the last 2 papers and the audition for him was on Monday or Tuesday this week i believe. They hold auditions all over the world so they will have loads of opportunities to see people who look like the characters they need....on our audition day the people they liked for the Prince/Princesses were taken off for hair and makeup that day to see if they were suitable. Its amazing what makeup can do cos some of them (girls) looked like theyd been Tangoed!!!
If you get accepted but dont fit a face character (like me) then you do the skin characters, ie Mickey, Minnie etc. but these are still height dependant. Im hoping when i get out there i'll be able to worm my way in as Tinkerbell :)
Any other questions just ask, altho my knowledge at the moment is very basic!
Thank you alaina-that helps
The Tango look isnt a pleasant one!
Fingers crossed for you and Tink :D
I used to see Disney Auditions in the Stage all the time back when I used to scour it for jobs. However I'm not tall enough to be a Princess, nor pretty enough so I never bothered. I also know you can send your cvs into the character department. I did it back when I lived in belgium since I couldnt make any auditions in London at the time. I didnt get a job but they still looked over my cv because I got a letter back from them.
Excited for Dr F joining us, but I cant believe Disney Paris Missed out on the Tiana Showboat. It was amazing at WDW. Well you have seen it, or the youtube videos above... Its amazing. To bad.
If you see the current Park schedule... the meet 'n' greet has mooved to the Royal Castle Stage...

Make sure you arrive early for the meet and greet as half way through they change about and bring repunzel on instead. Lot of people who had been waiting for Tiana were a bit upset!
we missed Tiana and Naveen by 5 mins after queueing for 45 mins to see them and got Rapunzel and Flynn instead .. Emily was so upset she went into a min melt down (she's only 3 and a half) .. Rapunzel was very lovely though and was excellent with her .. was slightly unfair that the last 2 kids got time with both sets of Princesses which upset a lot of people that had been waiting in the queue with us .. T&N were great though .. working the crowd, dancing and singing .. would have loved to have got to meet them .. maybe next year :)
