It looks like Studio 1
yeh its Studio 1 as you can see the entrance gates into the studios
Haven't seen that in a while
Uhhhhh - i can´t remember. Does anyone has a picture how this area looked before?
I think it was just fields? :?
If you look at this old aerial photo, you can see that the Walt Disney Studios Park was previously just fields. Not sure what those markings/tracks are though:

Look at all that land to build on  (Taking into consideration WDS should be in that pic obviously  )
And Val d'Europe
Do you know when this aerial photo was taken? When did Disney start to build Val d'Europe and WDS? When I've been to DLRP in 2000 there was already construction going on for WDS.
Dlp.info had a great site about the construction of WDS before the revamp of their site. Sadly it is gone.

WDS was green lit and began construction in 1999. Val d'Europe I'm not sure of the exact date, but the RER station and shopping centre opened October 2001, so perhaps late 1998. A very busy period of construction for the resort, with the 5 partner hotels opening soon after in 2003-2005.
Found this cool video on Youtube..

OMG
Thanks for the great pictures and video. The Studios 1, 2 and 3 look so much bigger without the yellow colour.
The construction of RnRC must have been in summer 2000. I have also taken a picture of RnRC out of the RER, but at this time I didn't really know what they were building there. Unfortunately the picture didn't turn out well.
The "???" is Armageddon I think?
And the Special Effects Tour didn't come into reality, that's now the Backlot Express/Blockbuster Cafe and the Restaurant des Stars.

I think it's just incorrectly labelled, the special effects tour is Armageddon. They also got Animagique and Animania (or rather Art of Disney) the wrong way round. Perhaps Animania was an early English name for Animagique, in fact.

I saw a pre-opening map once, Animagique of today was called Animania

How things change
QuoteThe second is the Amazing Special Effects warehouse that will house the Armageddon attraction. The actual interior show elements of this attraction are being kept firmly under wraps, but expect an experience one step more advanced than that of Universal's rather tame Backdraft attraction. The scene is likely to be that of Harry Stamper (the Bruce Willis character) and his crew on the asteroid attempting to split it into two, thus throwing the big hunk of rock off of its trajectory and save mankind. Paul Osterhout, Vice President Executive Producer for WDI-Paris is confident that the attraction is the "Park's big surprise package". This may be fueled by persistent rumours that this attraction is destined for both DCA and the Studios in Florida.
This entrance to the STT looks so much better than the current one, unfortunately WDI choose the wrong one.

Two amazing pictures! Take a look at the Geyser in Alasn's picture. It is working!!!
Great pics everyone! So strange to see that aerial shot of Disneyland with empty fields next to it!
I so love nostalgia like this, seeing the bare bones of construction through to what we know today. Superb.. :D/
Great thread, I'd like to see more construction shots like those for the main park and the village, even to the hotels.. :)
