(Has there been a topic posted yet? Apologies if so)
Advert has just aired on Channel 4, in the middle break of The Simpsons, watch again in an hour on Channel 4 + 1.
Its a brilliant advert, features the castle being pulled by Rheindeer, very nice.
Also a pretty nice website found at :
http://www.disneymagicalchristmas.com/ (http://www.disneymagicalchristmas.com/)
Note: It's a Small World Celebration overlay is being discussed in a separate topic here (//http://www.photosmagiques.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7665).
Just seen it myself! Beautiful compared to the summer Mickey's Magical Party one, almost on par with the 15th!
I've just uploaded a camera phone video of it to Youtube. Unfortunately, the sound is very very very quiet.
The voiceover is a man, with a fairly soft voice and talks about Disney's Christmas during Mickey's Magical Party.
[youtube:vl6o16e9]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdIlWO-FOnY[/youtube:vl6o16e9]
Its alright for the first copy online, better versions should surface. (might take a few more minutes to become properly available)
When i was on my trip , I did spot 2 parts of the christmasthrees. Is this the christmasthree of this year?

Christmas three? I dont understand
I was sitting on the sofa just now when this advert rolled on - what a surprise I got when I realised it isn't crap and they've actually used "our" castle! I really like it. Unlike some of the other recent adverts, this one makes me want to go!
Its not in front of SM:M2 its in the car park to the left
Quote from: "RnRCj"what a surprise I got when I realised it isn't crap and they've actually used "our" castle!!
I was pleasantly surprised by this too! I really liked the Ad, definitely a vast improvement on recent ones!
I've seen that advert so many times today, it seems to be everywhere :P
Really like it though, very nicely done with the castle. But does it not seem a little be early to be thinking about Christmas? Halloween is still the best part of a month away!
Yes it is the Christmas tree for this year. It will probably be set up in front of the gazebo in Town Square :)
What's even more interesting is what's next to it; the 101 Dalmatians float from the old Cinema parade in the Studios. I wonder what they've got in mind for it :-k
Wow! that advert does look quite impressive!
Turned on my speakers on Max volume, and I can hear the voiceover, but no music...
I hope there is some Christmas music in this advert! :)
Can't wait to see this advert here in The Netherlands myself!
Hope it will be the same :)
That's the Entertainment Department props boneyard. Belle's Christmas Village houses, old floats, Easter & Halloween decorations, etc. are stored behind Space Mountain.
Edit: it's the same old tree they're using for years now.
Thanks for starting this topic, been meaning to do it for ages.
Beautiful advert! I'm guessing it was done in the US, by the people who do WDW's? That's where the equally nice 15th ads came from. Mickey actually comes across friendly and cute. It feels special, an individual experience, not like they're advertising some tacky holiday camp (or Discoveryland) where you're forced to dance to YMCA every day.
And they didn't even shoot it in South Africa. (or did they?)
Oh I'd heard all about this ad, but in The Netherlands. I love it. The 'park' shots look amazing. Faultless! Not so sure if I like the idea of the castle being dragged along by reindeer though. Looks a bit shifty but we've done so much worse. Fantastic :)
Very cute, I know my little ones will love this ad.
Thanks for starting this topic, it says on the website that Mickey's winter wonderland
will be running until January the 6th. Is this true? :(

Probably, that sounds about right as the Christmas Season will be finishing by then.
Willo
MWW was on until the 7th of March last year, if i remember correctly :?

Did it? I can't really remember, I wasn't really paying attention to DLRP around that time earlier in the year.
Maybe they have decided to change it to be Xmas season only this year.
It must be one of the first adverts not to feature the (ugly) WDW castle at the end =D>
very nice advert! :)
I think Paris has the most constant Christmas tree of all the resorts. It hasn't changed since about 1993. To compare, think what they went through every year in Anaheim until last year. Cut down a tree, trim it, fill up the gaps, spray-paint it and decorate it with more ornaments than there are people in China. Heck, most people with artificial Christmas trees go through more trouble each year than the Disneyland Paris people, haha.
Then again, if they were to redecorate it now, they'd probably go for that icy blue crystal style that seems to be all the rage... Maybe it's for the better. Bring on the holidays!
Just seen the ad - very nice.
Very nice, anyone found a higher quality version of it by now?
It's up on here now: http://www.visit4info.com/advert/Christ ... aris/77498 (http://www.visit4info.com/advert/Christmas-at-Mickeys-Magical-Party-Disneyland-Paris/77498)
Yet again the voiceover is a bit off-kilter, and the big build-up leading to "Christmas at....... Mickey's Magical Party" makes me feel queasy. Forget MMP, no one cares! Advertise your parks!!
And for comparison, here's the 2006 ad: http://www.tellyads.com/show_movie.php?filename=TA0813 (http://www.tellyads.com/show_movie.php?filename=TA0813) and 2007/08: http://www.tellyads.com/show_movie.php?filename=TA4888 (http://www.tellyads.com/show_movie.php?filename=TA4888)
The in-park shots in the new one are gorgeous.
Great, thanks for those links Anthony! Yes, the new one is by far the best.
Hi!
Where i find opening hours at September and december, please ? On dlrp.com is it error... :(
THank You! :)
Ulak, that's not related to the Christmas season. For these kind of questions you should go to the Trip Planning board here (//http://www.photosmagiques.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=13). Tnx. :)
awwww thats lovely. We are going on the 15th Nov so we are going to be there to see it all. My 2 year old son will love it as he loves Mickey Mouse,he watches mickeys clubhouse all the time. he knows all there names,so he will be shouting them.

Other question - Is FIREWORKS in DLRP in this november?
Thank you! :)
No, no fireworks at all.
We've actually also got a dedicated topic for Christmas Season 2009 trip planning questions (//http://www.photosmagiques.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=7436) in the forum Kristof mentioned above. Let's keep this one just discussion of the events.
The one thing I've not seen mentioned here... the return of the Tree Lighting Ceremony at Town Square! Why aren't we jumping for joy and partying in the streets? This is fantastic news!
It might even push Davewasbaloo to a smile.

But in reality as far as we know it's going to be the same old tree with no blue glow whatsoever, so I'm wondering if they might jazz it up for the new ceremony (the old lighting sequence isn't all that special anymore) with a few new lights on top, if that's even possible. Or maybe this is just marketing lies.
Anyone know more?
Any news coming forward about this year's changes? They must've started rehearsals by now? And how about the new music? Any official line on who's been involved? Quite American...

I can't speak or smile for Dave, but if the old music returns as well, I for one would jump for joy...
Not that there's anything wrong with the new music or the Tree Lighting Ceremonies of the past few years, but while the new ditty is can't-get-that-Eurovision-song-out-of-my-head good, the old score was chills-down-your-spine good. A man can hope!

Oh, wow. Yes, they may have taken a cue from Anaheim and re-strung it with programmable LEDs. That wouldn't be too improbable; the Euro Disney technicians have proven their skills with that sort of thing, haven't they.
It's kind of a shame, though. When did Christmas become so blue? I thought the reason we lit up our cities in December was to add a sense of warmth instead emphasizing the Arctic season our numb ears and noses are all too aware of?
(I know I'm a curmudgeon, but then Christmas is all about sad attempts at recreating Christmas Past. Except if you're Scrooge.)
Oh I wish they'd reprogramme the lights too but not too sure how possible it would be? If each block is lit as a unit, could be hard to make individual bulbs fade. But what do I know!
Look out for the parade this year. Think they've finally realized just how popular Christmas is and where to put their money...

Has anyone else realised this....but in the picture above it looks to be somesort of fairy on top of the tree. Maybe it's nothing, it probably is but something new perhaps!
I must admit using blue lights on a Christmas tree in cold weather is a bit erm depressing.
It might look magical but i want to forget that my toes are suffering from frost bite
Quote from: "Anthony"The one thing I've not seen mentioned here... the return of the Tree Lighting Ceremony at Town Square! Why aren't we jumping for joy and partying in the streets? This is fantastic news!
Jump jump jump! I think that´s great news! It was suuuch a better ceremony over there. With a small child that brings the lights to the tree (with a bit help of mickey and santa of course). And the music was really magical (as puss mentioned).
I only hope it´s the same scale of ceremony and not something totally "CRAZY KOOL" that the entertainment department try to sell us for a magical and modern moment of christmas.
Just go back to the old ceremony! No "MMP-SUPER-POP-CHRISTMAS Ceremony starrrrring Mickey Mouse, Buzz Lightyear, Stitch and Hanna Montana featuring the Discoveryland Rock-Pop-Crew" (we know they like this long names since 1 year).... [-o<
Some Christmas News:
The Tree Lighting Ceremony will use the same music as the last few years.... with a live "presenter" and Mickey and Minnie... both in talking in French!! :x
There is a brand new Christmas float in the parade.... infact it is the old Cinderella float which is nearly unrecognisable now. The horses have been replaced by Reindeer and a new sleigh (which unforuntaly looks like a boat) has replaced the old pumpkin carriage. It is a nice addition though!! :D
Elves and Toy Soilders return! But there will be NO SHOW-STOPS for the entire Christmas season... the POWER float is also expected to disappear for rehab during the whole season!
New music will be introduced while the stars arrive during Stars and Cars.... its a nice upbeat track including music from Tokyo and "Jolly Holidays"... the show itself remains the same!
The new Snow White show lasts 8 minutes.... and includes the dwarfs dancing, snow white singing and prince arriving at the end to give her a "gem"
:D/ new christmas float yay but my fav float could be missing when i go :( i love dreams of power but getting excited more and more for my first chirstmas holiday to disney =D
Quote from: "Poppy The Monkey"The Tree Lighting Ceremony will use the same music as the last few years.... with a live "presenter" and Mickey and Minnie... both in talking in French!! :x

Ah, I knew it wouldn't be
new "new". I suppose they had to solve the problem of no real reindeer. Sounds like a smart choice.

So there will be
some Christmas cheer in WDS! In fact, Stars 'n' Cars reminds me that last year's horrible generic market won't be able to return, at least to that same spot... So there's something to thank it for.
Does anybody has an idea, why they do more and more in french-talking?
It is true of course that the voice of Mickey Wayne Allwine, passed away earlier this year... and his successor has yet to be decided I believe. His wife Russi Taylor, the voice of Minnie Mouse has not been in the recording studio since of course.
Having said that, we can assume that even if these great voice talents were still "available", we'd still be hearing Mickey in French... I'm sure it is much cheaper and easier to arrange and record, and of course it goes down well with the "home crowd". And as much as I hate hearing Mickey in French.... there has been alot of new recordings of him this year... Party Time, Stars and Cars, Not So Scary show, 31st October show, Christmas Stars and Cars, Christmas Tree Lighting, Cinema Mickey.....etc...

Just to make sure, this means the old music does not return, correct?

hmmm - but can´t the french voice speak english, too?
Quote from: "MagicStar"hmmm - but can´t the french voice speak english, too?
I don't think so , they might be able to , but not very well . It would be a little bit of english with a french accent :)
Mickey's voice in English is very distinct and famous - Wayne Allwine was the offical and only English-speaking Mickey, if he starts talking in broken English with a French accent, I'm sure there would be uproar and it wouldn't be allowed. However the french Minnie does try to speak English on the Party Train, and the results are disgusting!
Anyway back to Christmas, the tree went up last night with no changes at all. :x

Float looks good, good to see they haven't redone the tree. I'm quite curious about the tree lighting ceremony...
And yes, the Mickey's Magical Party craziness immediately following the castle lighting. How much longer will we have to par-tay? When will this end? Haha.
Finally, I was able to track down a video with the old music in it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQY2QtAPdUQ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQY2QtAPdUQ)
It starts at about 2:35, and it has people blabbering through it, who should be lined up and shot.
(At least in Paris they wait for the nice music to end before resuming the shrieking.)
Anyway, it was touching and lovely and left everyone in awe.
[EDIT] Ha, here it is, a reminder of better times. A version without partying nor hardying from 2000.

The emotion in their voice is hilarious.
[Monotone] "How beautiful." "Oh. Look at all the light."
Second video is lovely.
Anyway, here we go with the first video, and no, it's not the same. Music is from the more recent shows: (and warning, scratchy sound, though I thank the uploaders :) )

So yeah, they use the same music for both?
Would it have been so hard to dust off the old CD?
I do like how the spotlights dance with the castle lights, although it doesn't exactly work with it meant to be a frozen "Ice Palace", and you'd better throw any hope for
emotion out the window...
It's horrible. It has nothing to do with christmas anymore. Is more like a disco. Why can't they use the old christmas song after the castle ilumination. :? :(
It's a very od feeling to hear MMPT after it. And I really don't like it. No christmas feeling after this.
Oh my good! Which mad mind have created this castle illumination show. It´s the worsest piece of "christmas" entertainment ever. Sorry??? "la Micky danse"??? Are they serious???? That should be a "fairytale christmas", the marketing department let us now this! And now we have this ugly PARTEY destroying christmas.
They should search a new entertainment head....that should be the last thing he/she done for the resort.
Tree light looks ok but I don´t like that they use the same music twice. Why not the old piece of music? that´s fairytale christmas...seems they need a Riebi to tell them what to do and what not do to for a fairytale christmas...sad.
I love the float...
But I´m horrified about the castle illumination.
La Mickey Danse?
AARRRGGGGGG!
I Agree 100% with Riebi!
At first, I think you all will hate me for this  but...
My first christmas in Disneyland Paris was 2006 were the Parade will completely dressed up for Christmas (Floats and Dancers). That was the Time, where it hits me and since then, I`ve been there for 14 times :)
Since the "Once upon a Dream Parade" started, the Christmas flair of the Floats is completley gone, at the first year 2007, there where at the End Vicortian Dancers, which have a glamour stil... know, since for 2 Years, we have this (sorry) stupid elves! There is no glamour at all at the parade now! And the reindeers.... I`m sad they passed away... but why they don`t buy knew ones? When the Streetcar Horses will die, would they build Plastic Horses for them? And the old Cinderella "vehicle" recycled, I´am not happy at all with it...
About the Castle Illumination... it`s not that bad at all!
First plus point, the dancers have a little Christmasy Jackets, which looks cool on them :) Than the "Power Point" Presention on the Castle with Notes etc. looks nice too.
And after the Illumination begins the Party, which what I saw on the Video above, must be really cool! The Castle lights are totaly in cheographicly style, not only the tops of the roofs like by candelabration. And you can not forget, it`s party time.
I think, the Magical Party hasn`t started very well. Many People (me too) missed the Candelabration time, which was great! But there is now something new. (New heads, new ideas). For the Christmas Feeling they bring back the Treelight Ceremony, that`s a good thing! And the Snow White "Show" seems pretty cool, too. And why can Christmas not a little bit Party like? I think they do a great show! If you don`t think so ok, but think also about the Christmas Parade until 2006 and what we now got! That`s 100 Times more worse than the Party Time Edition of Illumination the Castle!
I hope on the next Programme someone realises it should be Lighting Ceremony and not Lightning Ceremony!

There's about a half hour gap between the two events.
What happened with Mickey's Winter Wonderland? Does it have a real or fake ice rink?
Quote from: "Anthony"There's about a half hour gap between the two events.
Yes..I notice that there was 'only' a 30 minute gap. Can you imagine all those people trying to move from one end of Main Street to the other in order to see both shows....
Thats just going to be one very nasty crush (I'll let you know - I'm there on Saturday).
A cynical person might say this whole two ceremonies thing is just a ploy to keep guests lingering around Main Street, spending money...

Agreed, love the float but what were they thinking, if I can use the words of the immortal Noddy Holder and Slade "Its Christmas" quick someone tell the entertainments director
Quote from: "Riebi"They should search a new entertainment head....that should be the last thing he/she done for the resort.
I think you are on to something... DLP's last entertainment head moved over to WDW, what, during the 15th anniversary year? I would say that until 2007 DLP's entertainment was really good... and then it started to slip and the seasons lost more and more of its focus...
(Does anybody remember when they tried launching a dedicated Easter season?)
Apparently, the Lights of Winter aren't coming to Epcot this year and there are no plans to revive them. (Although I'm sure few will mourn the loss of the more recent lighting ceremonies.) So now no one can enjoy the arches or that music anymore. Kind of sad.

I'm sorry, I promise this is the last time I bring up that stupid soundtrack, but look where it survived! Also interesting to see the tree/castle lighting ceremony in a different park, obviously.
[youtube:2cqs1294]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgrDMeuVWXI[/youtube:2cqs1294]
What really strikes you is the way the scale of the park changes everything. I mean, the show isn't that different from Paris', but it feels like a much hokier, cozier little affair in Hong Kong.
Hello everybody,
I will be there in the park from 23.11 to 27.11... On the Website "Wetter.com" is every evening light rain exept for Tuesday... does this mean, that the Party Time Illumination with the Dancers of the Castle will be canceled?
Quote from: "pussinboots"I'm sorry, I promise this is the last time I bring up that stupid soundtrack, but look where it survived! Also interesting to see the tree/castle lighting ceremony in a different park, obviously.
Why is it so different and to be honest so much better than what's going on in Paris? The snow flake lights look so brilliant compared to our chandaliers and there's not a hint of Mickey's birthday to spoil it all.
ps love that old music, I'd completely forgotten about it
The chandliers look colder and more imposing each year, hiding the nice decorations on the buildings behind. I don't want to get caught saying "things were so much better...", but in this case these lights are just horrible for Disneyland. The large garlands they have in the US are nice, if our parade floats would fit under them.
...Maybe not. But that traditional green/red/yellow colour scheme is needed.
The live host turned out good for our show though, from the videos I've seen it looks quite "warm", just the lighting itself is a bit unspectacular/unemotional compared to what it could be.
Maybe someone should burn that music onto a CD and send it to Philippe Gas, since they seem to have lost their copy.

Most likely not. They'd send them out in a hurricane if need be!
Paris needs a new tree with more lights on it, to make the lighting ceremony more impressive.
I'd like a few million euros invested into the Christmas season.
Is the snow on Main street a tad weak this year?.
Having visited during the Christmas Seasons since 2004 my memory was that it's came down as a fairly good flurry - and normally just before you'd see the machines 'raise' from the roofs on the buildings on Main Street.
Visiting during weekend of November 13th, the snow seemed very 'weak' - as if it was a 'new' system this year - as you also didn't see the machines 'raise' from the roofs.
Similarly you would normally see lightening rigs raise from the building roofs shortly before the parade, but these also never occurred.

I think you may have just answered your own question — without the bright light from the rooftop lighting rigs, whatever snow there was would have been barely visible. Maybe it was just a glitch.
Hello,
