If you are not interested in the parades at DLRP this post will bore you to death! Sorry it is so in depth
Anthony asked me the other day here on this forum if I ever could ever get bored of watching the parades at DLRP. Well after this weekend I can answer probably not .
On Saturday the Wonderful World of Disney Parade went mad in the wind, with wigs and hats blowing off, dresses blowing up and princesses jumping aboard random floats. (photos will follow on the Disneyland Park Board)
But Sunday was even worse for Disney's Cinema Parade.
I suppose it started okay, even if Mickey was randomly aboard the first float for some reason...

Then they wheeled out Minnie on her mirror, which was making the worst clicking noises you could imagine.

The parade got to the Toy Story float and then it stopped for about 2 minutes, we wondered what was going on so walked to the start of the parade, where Minnie's float was nearly in the crowd, it was spinning from side to side uncontrollably. It couldn't move forward, just spun around for about 4 minutes all this time Minnie just waved on....

The first two floats just kept on going, the music carried on playing seamlessly for the full time. After about 5 minutes of trying to lift the float up and push it, the parade team radioed parade control to get the emergency vehicle, by this time everyone was getting bored and starting to leave.
The funniest part was the dancers and other characters, the dancers kept on dancing on the same spot, the floats with the pre-recorded character voices were becoming very repetitive, after the 20th time of Mary Poppins miming "hello, it's nice to see you, what a wonderful day" to the same people she was getting so embarrassed.
After about 10 minutes of the parade being stopped, the dancers were told to get all the kids to join in with them and the characters, so it was nice to have an unscheduled parade stop back in the parade.
Everyone looked sick after about 15 minutes, the dancers were walking around lost

But finally the breakdown van arrived...

However the first towing device failed to move the float as the wheels has locked
(//http://img57.imageshack.us/img57/5299/dsc089720tl.jpg)
But the second device did work and the float was finally pulled away

A huge cheer went up in the crowd as the other 7 floats finally started to move again, the music was still perfectly timed, with the opening of the parade at the final section (Animation Courtyard) lining up with the rest of the route perfectly, despite being 20 minutes late.
Minnie commandeered the first float and Mickey was relegated to walking...

And after 35 minutes, and 2 heavy showers the usual 15 minute parade finally finished.
He He He...
thanks for sharing that story.
Reminds me of a chat I once had with a guest shortly before MSEP started and she asked me how we managed to pull everything off so perfectly.
Man, I had to bite my tongue so hard, it really hurt.
lol how many times do u see that!
Is there any pics of the wwodp during the storm arround?
looooool, we were sitting at Backlot Express while the parade came out but didn't notice a thing

Brilliant topic!
Those poor poor poor EPC people! My congratulations to them for getting through this awful parade with as much style as they did!
 Poor dancers... *Can't help but laugh at the thought of giraffe people wandering around aimlessly* :P
lol me too
Is there some pictures of the WWODP in the wind but I have seen one when the Sleeping Beauty float has broken down in the wind.
I feel really sorry for the dancers and poor Minnie. Though Pluto and Mickey seem to have fun in the video posted above. I want to play one of those characters, too. Must be great having children scream "your" name and wanting to take pictures with you and hug you.
