A. A. Milne's Yellow Bear, Disney's bear with an assortment of shows and movies, most of which became Direct-to-DVD/Video, in either CGI (My Friends Tigger and Pooh), or in Puppet form (Book Of Pooh).
John Lasseter Disney's head of Animation at both Walt Disney Animation and Pixar Animation Studios plans to revigorate the bear who live under Sanders for the Big Screen.
Lasseter will like all recent Animated movies since Disney's purchase of Pixar in 2006, take the credit of Executive producer, but from rumours at SDCC. Say that Lasseter has a vested interest in breathing new life into what is one of Disney's Highest Grossing Characters.
Now when Lasseter is vested in something, we get a result. The Prime example now is that John Went on a Personal mission to find a voice for Slinky following the death of Jim Varney for Toy Story 3, and has done so in the form of a friend of Varney.
Now My questions>
Will Disney go back to the books? or will they do another?
Who will be Winnie's "Owner"? Darby (My Friends Tigger & Pooh) or Christopher Robin?
Will it be in Disney's 2D Hand Drawn Animation or CGI?
Will it appear in Disney Digital 3D?
This seems like a very odd choice. It will be interesting to see what way they take it. I think they will go back to the books though. Also 2011? They must be quite a way into production of this already?
Few updates... Mark Henn, supervising animator of Princess Tiana, will be animating Pooh Bear, Kanga and Roo, and Andreas Deja will be supervising Tigger. Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx have written the songs. They're best known for... Avenue Q!
It finally has a page on the Disney Animation website: http://www.disneyanimation.com/projects/pooh/index.html (http://www.disneyanimation.com/projects/pooh/index.html%22%20onclick=%22window.open(this.href);return%20false;)

That says Spring, but the US release was reported as 15th July recently.
And does anyone else think it's more than a coincidence that a certain Disney board member (or colleagues) chose for every download of iBooks (an app on the iPhone/iPad etc) to contain a free copy of the original book? Particularly if this film attempts to restore some character and warmth to a franchise that had become horribly over-commercialised. Smart move.
It would be interesting to see what slant they take for the reproduction. Winnie the Pooh was one of my all time favourites when little so it would be good to see a different version. We will just have to wait and see for the finished result before we can accurately speculate over the film.
I am sure that whatever choice they decide to make for the film, it would be the right one as Winnie the Pooh has already captured the heart of millions of people including the ones that are close to me.
I really am looking forward to this film.
I agree how the franchise for Pooh has become over commercialised which is a shame. I hope Christopher Robin is in the film and not Darby.

You are absolutely right. Nevertheless I prefere the Pooh franchise a lot more than the princess franchise. In recent years Disney is only focusing on princesses.
Hopefully the new Pooh movie turns out great. My favorite Pooh movie is "The Tigger Movie".
First trailer!

It looks beautiful.
Thank god for that! i was scared of some horrible 3D reincarnation thing >.< This however looks very nice. Lets hope the story stays up to standard (y)
I like the trailer and I'm really looking forward to this. I prefere traditional animation over CGI.
WOW. It's back in that lovely traditional style that I love so much. It actually looks really funny and enjoyable, I never thought I'd say this but I'm looking forward to a Winnie the pooh movie :P
Thank you Disney, all faith has been restored :D
It looks great =D>
Aww, it brings back memories :)
It looks really good.

Same here! Really excited for this one now!
Pfff real classic disney animation power here.
Love the colours en texture of it.
It will not rock the world, but it will be an instant hit i think :D
I've realised that I've recently taken to watching the trailer for this if I feel a little down, it seems to hold that definate classic feel to it which only proper Disney movies can make!
Also, the songs are no worry to me, they did write Avenue Q, but showed their Disney side with Finding Nemo the Musical! I wonder what'll happen if the songs are well recieved? Maybe they'll be a new Alan Menken?
This film looks fantastic. Other than the fact it would be hand-drawn, I wasn't very fussed about it. But that trailer... wow. Winnie The Pooh as it was intended, by the looks of things. Great work Disney!
15th April this hits the UK (and the US doesn't see it till July). That's really soon considering we've only just Tangled! I don't know, you wait ages for a Walt Disney Animation Studios film...
But is anyone else not sure about seeing it at the cinema? On one hand, it's hand-drawn Disney animation. You can't miss a chance to see that. On the other, it's Winnie the Pooh and do I feel a little old for it. It'll be interesting if Disney can break through the idea that this is just for the kids who watch Playhouse Disney.
They have the trailer playing on the DIsney Channel on the hotels, was surprised to see how faithful to the original Pooh animations it is.

I'm also not sure if I will watch Winnie Pooh at the cinema. I like animation movies a lot, but I do feel a little old for it, too.
I think that Winnie Pooh will not make a lot of money at the box office.
saw the trailer today & i can't wait. not worried about being too old-i'm just going to steal my friends 5 year old :P
Some pictures have been released of the animated short that will accompanythe film. Called "The Ballad of Nessie," it's style harks back to the Disney shorts of the 40s and 50s. Narrated by Billy Connolly,it tells the story of the creation of Loch Ness and its famous residant The Loch Ness Monster, here considerably Disneyfied and given a plastic duck friend, MacQuack.
QuoteSet in the "bonny blue highlands" of Scotland, "The Ballad of Nessie" is a whimsical and colorful tall tale about the friendly Loch Ness monster, Nessie, and how she and her best friend MacQuack the rubber duck came to live in the moor they now call home. Setting the adventure into motion is a greedy land developer named MacFroogle, who decides to build a mini-golf empire on top of Nessie's home. QuoteNessie is forced to wander the counrtyside, searching for a new home. Feeling hopeless, she sits down and cries so much that she creates Loch Ness. (The Press and Journal, 14th March 2011)

I love the tartan landscapes. Bring from Inverness, its nice to see a Disney short based on Nessie. Its fantastic too that they got Billy Connolly. Can't say I'm all too excited about all the fantastically orginal Scottish names: MacQuack, MacFroogle...
New video from the Disney Animation YouTube Channel (//http://www.youtube.com/user/disneyanimation) appeared about Zooey Deschanel, who'll sing a few songs for the upcoming Winnie the Pooh movie. And there are some never-bofore-seen clips from the movie itself in it! ;-)

Can I just say that I'm excited that the UK will actually get this in cinemas before the US.
So who else has been to see it?
I took my Daughter on opening day and must say what a sweet film it is and it was actually really funny. I love how it kept to the classic tales of Pooh and the songs in the film were very catchy.
The Ballad of Nessie made me shed a tear and before the film you also get a short episode of Jake and The neverland Pirates.
Finally saw this today. Great film, I loved the stories, the animation and the music. I chuckled throughout the film too, was a really nice family film, would love to see more films like this!
The short was great too. :D
Hey everyone! I loved reading your thoughts on the film and thought I would start conversation up again! Have any of you seen our Facebook page for Winnie the Pooh yet? There is a great personality quiz that shows you some more videos describing our favorite characters.
Check it out!

Let me know what you think of the character videos!
The scene with Nessie is incredibly moving. I love this type of animation. I wish we would see more of this type of animation.
Oh I'm so glad you liked it! Thanks for the feedback! What did you think of Winnie the Pooh's animation? A nice break from CGI?
So I just found out there won't be a Blu-Ray release for Winnie the Pooh in Euorpe?! How do you feel about that?
I wondered why a Blu-ray version wasn't showing up on any online stores yet. It's due for release in the UK next week (22nd August) in a single-disc DVD version. Over in the US, they're getting three versions, two with a DVD
and a Blu-ray disc, just with different DVD/Blu-ray size packaging.
The email for Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment in the UK is:
wdshe.consumerrelations@disney.co.ukI've emailed in the past about the stripped-down Incredibles blu-ray and lack of a blu-ray release of Cars Toon: Mater's Tall Tales (which was released in the US) and got responses to both (if not any actual action), so it's worth a quick email!
They're fast at replying, at least! I explained that the good thing about a new Winnie the Pooh film should be that it's available in HD, and that as one of the Walt Disney Animation Studios films, there would be a market for a blu-ray for people wanting to own the entire collection. Now it looks like we'll never see Classic No. 51 in HD in Europe...
Official response from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment UK:
QuoteWith regard to the Winnie the Pooh Blu-ray - the appropriate manager explained to me that a decision was made to release Winnie the Pooh on DVD only in Europe as it was felt there would be no demand for it on BD, based on sales from other, similar titles. We apologise that you are disappointed by this decision and I will be sure to pass your feedback to them.
apparently we are not getting a bluray release of this as there isnt enough market allegedly this was ob the bluray forum UK section
What's the likelihood of the US blu-ray release (out 25th October) being region-free?
based on the last few releases i'd say pretty likely although the dvd will always be region locked unless you have a region free player. but if you have a bluray player dvd isnt really necessary
Great news - it's multi-region!

Proof (see the three region codes on the disc):
