From now on, all announcements for Pin Trading Night events will be posted right here!
Pin Trading Nights are events where DLRP pin traders meet to exhibit their collections, trade pins and discuss all things Disney. There are also usually special limited edition pins sold only on the night.

A chance for Pin Traders to gather at a set location to meet, chat, swap pins etc. They usually release a special pin at each one too, as an incentive.
@joolsc - I don't know when February's Pin Trading Night will be, as you can see from past dates they usually only announce them at the start of each month. :?
Next Pin Trading Night: 30th March 2007
At Disney's Hotel Santa Fe, from 6pm to 9pm. Free entrance.

YAY and I get to go to my favourite santa fe too  . Finally something that may be able to beat last years great disneyland resort paris walk . This has made my day, as my day has not been that exciting :P .
:o Baloo, is there any news yet about a Pin Trading night in June?
:) Also, what about June pin releases?
Next Pin Trading Night: 22nd June 2007

At Disney's Sequoia Lodge from 6pm to 9pm.
"For thoseof you who still have the voucher from the last Pin Trading Night, please take it with you for this Pin Trading Night, or contact us directly by email." (I'm not sure what that means, but it says it in the email!)
:o At the Pin Trading Night in June, too many vouchers (for the Pin Trading Night pins) were given out and there wasn't enough pins to go around. As a result, some people didn't get the Bambi and Thumper Pin Trading Night pins. :) It says on PinPics though that these people were given a Heffalump Pin Trading Night pin instead, as compensation.
aww two days after I leave

People can be quite picky though. :) I'm going to bring with me some UK Disney Store Limited Edition pins, in the hope that there's a few French people that don't already have them.

Thanks Adam :D ! Can I just ask what or who you meanby a disney hotel concierge? do you usually have to make a booking to go?does it cost anything and on average how many people show up? Are most sellers that go only interested in LE pins?
:D
Every Disney Hotel has a Concierge desk ;) its normally in the lobby near to the check in desk
:D I can answer those questions for you Aveen, having been to two Pin Trading Nights at DLRP. First of all, it costs nothing to go to one. All that costs money are the things that you buy when you're there (PTN Pin, cocktail pin, etc). There will usually be one or two PTN pins available, and sometimes they'll do a pre-release of a pin that's due out the following month. Your voucher entitles you to buy two of each pin (so be prepared to spend!). Also sometimes they will give out a "free" pin when you buy a cocktail. The cocktail costs like 7 Euros, so ask to see the pin first and decide whether or not you want it! The cocktail pin tends to be a Cast Lanyard pin that's going to be released soon.
Because there's no way of booking in advance, you really do need to show up early. If the event starts at 6pm, you're best off showing up at about 4pm, or even earlier. The reason for this is because the que for the vouchers to claim a PTN Pin tends to start about an hour early (so at about 5pm), meaning you'll be stuck in that que for an hour without getting the chance to look at all the pins (unless you're planning on staying there for hours and hours). The que isn't meant to start early, but there's always someone who ends up stood where the que is going to be made, and so people stand behind them, etc.
There's usually a LOT of people there. The amount of pins on offer is mind boggling! The PTN pins always sell out, and people almost always tend to buy two. So if the pins are LE of 400, that means that probably only 200 people are going to get them, which is why it's important to get in the que as soon as it's formed. Some people are specifically there for the PTN pin, so I've found that the event has gotten slightly quieter once those pins have started to be sold at 6pm. Still, it's always very busy, so try not to get too stressed if you can't get to a certain trade table because too many people are in front of it!
Unfortunatly, yes. Most people with stands/tables there are only interested in LE pins. In fact, when I went to the one in April there was actually only one stand that I found that had only open release pins. Everyone else just has LE pins. Which means you need to trade LE pins in order to get LE pins. :( It can be a bit awkward/frustrating sometimes. For starters, not everyone there speaks very good English. Then you get some really awkward people who will only trade you a LE pin if the one you have is lower than their's. For example, if you want a LE 1000 pin off them, they may want a LE 500 pin from you.
:) The worst they can say is no though. I did some really good trades in April, as most of the people I spoke to didn't fall into the two above categories. Most people there do speak good English (some actually ARE from England!), and most are polite/friendly enough to try and work out a deal. Some will only trade for specific characters, but some are so nice that they will trade with you if they see that you really want a certain pin. There's really no telling what each individual person if going to be like until you speak to them, so don't be shy!
^^ If you have anymore questions, just ask!
wow thanks so much for all the info, that really helps! :D how much are the PTN pins?
are you allowed to take photos/film of the event? Its just I have rarely seen any footage of any of these events except one you tube video! :?
how many hours does the event last? is there places to sit? Just asking because my mum will be with me if I go and she probably won't want to stand in queues and stuff.
on average how many tables or sellers is there?
Where either of your PTN's in Davy Crocket ranch?
Sorry for all the questions but thanks for all the information! =D> =D> :D :D
oh and another question sorry.. how many pins do you normally take with you to trade?
^^ Thanks for the nice PM Aveen, I'm glad I could help!
The PTN pins from when I went in April were 10.90 Euros and the pre-release pin was 11.90 Euros. I don't know if they always sell a pre-release pin. Also, they don't always do two PTN pins. Sometimes it's just one.
In regards to take films/photos, I'm not 100% sure. :) At the PTN in April, Goofy was there, so people were taking photos of him. I think if you wanted to take pictures of people's own collections, it would probably be best to just ask them. Since you're dealing with mostly other guests as opposed to Cast Members, it would just be safer to ask if you want to take photos of them and/or their pins.
Generally they last until 9pm, but both times when we have gone we've ended up leaving soon after getting the PTN pins. This is because we got there early so we could have a good look around before queing up and getting the PTN pins. Like I said earlier, it does seem to get a bit less busy after the PTN pins have gone on sale, so there's always time to go and have another quick browse.
Both the ones we've been to were at the Santa Fe. It was set up in the dining area, so there were plenty of chairs to sit on! I imagine that in other hotels it would be a similiar set up, so I wouldn't worry too much about your mum not having anywhere to sit.
One thing I will stress is that there's no actual sellers there (not that I've seen anyway). People are only there to trade, but to be honest, I've never actually asked to buy a pin off another guest, so you never know! There are always tonnes of tables. Each person tends to have one or two full tables to themselves. At the April one there was about 30 to 40 tables. And I'm not talking small tables, I'm talking big ones. All covered in pins. It can be a bit over-whelming.
The best thing to ask each trader is whether or not they have pins featuring a certain character or theme, or whatever it is you're wanting. I found that most traders had all their pin bags/books/etc set out either by character or by film (or even both!). So for example, I'd ask people if they had any Cheshire Cat pins, and usually they could point me in the right direction if they had any.
At the PTN in April I only traded with four different people. People are really desperate for multiples of the PTN pin from that night, so if you find that you don't like it (in April one of the two pins available was Meet the Robinsons, which I hated) you'll definatly be able to trade them. I actually traded one of my Meet the Robinsons pins for TWO LE pins from one trader, and I traded the other for a LE 300 pin. I was so happy with both of those trades. :D The other two trades I did were using UK Disney Store pins. One was for the Lady and the Tramp pin (got a LE pin for that) and the other was for two of the Cast Lanyard Gift Box pins (got LE pins for them as well).
Not everyone is gonna want to trade with you, but I'd say just have with you as many LE pins as you can afford, just so the traders have options. You've also gotta keep in mind that people are constantly trading on the DLRP pin boards. :D I got an awesome Ratigan pin off there that wasn't there when I checked literally like 10 minutes earlier. So yeah, you'll be trading off there too.
I hope this was helpful as well!
thank you so much for all the help and advice you have given me! It is hard to find someone who has even been to one of these events! It sounds etc and kinda stressful hehe! :P
When you say DLRP pin boards do you mean there are pin boards there or the pin boards that are in the park? :D
You have been great, thanks so much! :D
:) Again, I'm glad I could be of help!
Yeah, they're the very same pin boards that you find in the parks. When I went in April they had two at the event, and like I said, people are constantly trading on them. To get the Ratigan pin I traded a UK Disney Store Lady and the Tramp pin. As soon as the Cast Member popped it on the board, a French guest immediatly pointed at it and shouted something in French. I'm guessing he was just saying that he wanted it, as the Cast Member quickly took it back off the board and took a pin off the guest in exchange.
oooo I am so excited hehe!! Its great to know all of this stuff! :D Are traders interested in the UK store pins over there? Did you do much trading with cast members in the parks? :D
:) It certainly seemed like it yes. I traded away two of the Cast Lanyard Gift Box pins (Mickey and Goofy) for two LE pins. I did explain to the lady that my ones weren't LE, they were just only available to trade from Cast Members in the UK. She totally understood that and she was still more than happy to give me any two LE pins I wanted. These are the two I picked.

I also traded one of the Lady and the Tramp pins with a gurst, and got a great Cheshire Cat pin in return.
http://www.pinpics.com/cgi-bin/pin.cgi? ... 2530669.v2 (http://www.pinpics.com/cgi-bin/pin.cgi?pin=62483&sid=6152.1252530669.v2)
If you want a certain pin from another guest, you should offer them ALL the pins that you're willing to part with. At first I'd only offer one at a time, and that didn't seem to go down well. So then I just layed out every single LE pin that I was willing to trade, and things just seemed to go smoother. They would either pick one or just say no thank you.
:P I always do lots of trading with Cast Members in the park. I used to be a bit shy about asking to see their lanyards, but I've gotten much better at it now.
This will be my first pin trading holiday to DLP! So I think I will be nervous asking to do trades. The Cast members will trade for core pins though won't they? They don't have to be LE?
I love the pins you traded for, esp the Chesshire cat one, its brilliant! :D
By the way what is your real name? lol :D
oh and I forgot to ask... do they see cast member uk pins as LE pins..if you know what i mean? are they as good for traders?
:D Lol, my name's Lindsay. Is your real name Aveen, or something else?
Cast Members HAVE to trade with you, so long as the pin that you give them (a) is an official Disney pin and (b) they don't already have it on their lanyard. Some Cast Members like to pick which pin you give them, so be sure to only have pins on your lanyard that you don't mind trading.
:) All Cast Members are usually very nice and are always more than happy to show off their lanyard. A UK Disney Store pin would probably be no more special to a CM than any other pin, so you should probably try and save all your UK Disney Store pins for the Pin Trading Night. It's up to you though. I traded a few of my non-LE Disney UK pins with CMs. The only ones I saved for the PTN were the Gift Box pins and the LE pins.

aw good!
opps I actually meant do the people at the PTN's see the cast members lanyard pins as, as good as LE pins lol not cast members lol..sorry i should have been more clear:) I am only taking pins with me that I want to trade...and they are all pins I have doubles off! For the past few months I have been buying doubles of pins so that i could have ones to take with me on this trip lol!
...oh and yep my real name is Aveen :D
Ooh I see. Well, it certainly seemed that way. :) After the lady offered me any two LE pins for my two Gift Box pins, I went to have a look around to see if anyone else would make the same offer. Two other people did, but unfortunatly neither had any pins that I wanted, so I eventually went back to the first lady.
My trip was in April, and Pin Trading had only started in the UK in March, so maybe the Cast Lanyard pins weren't as well-known as they may be now. So just to be on the safe side, I wouldn't get my hopes up too high about the Gift Box pins and/or the Mickey Uniform pins being as highly regarded as LE pins. I never offered to trade those pins for LE pins, it was people who offered me LE pins for them, so I just felt very lucky.
:D And Aveen is such a pretty name!
hehe don't worry I won't syc myself up and then get disappointed.. I think even if I don't do many or any good trades etc it will be a nice experience! I just wish it wasn't in Davey Crockett Ranch though!
:( Yeah, I bet the shuttles going there are going to be packed. I suppose it's better than paying foe a taxi, but yes, it would be so much easier if it was being held at one of the normal hotels.
I wonder how much a taxi would cost?!
I have never seen Davey Crockett Ranch.. I don't think the events should ever be held out there, its far too awkward!
I wonder do people fly over from England especially for the event...as I remember you saying there was actually traders there from England the night you went!
A Dutch lady that was in the que near me and I mum got talking to us, and revealed to us a very scary thing... most pin traders with tables there ONLY come for the PTN. Meaning that they don't even visit the parks! I was so shocked. The Dutch lady said that she basically just drives to France, stays in a cheap hotel the night before, goes to the PTN and then drives home either the same night or the day after.
Two English ladies that we got talking to as well also said they only came for the PTN. :P I just find it a bit crazy that someone would go all that way JUST for the PTN and not to go to DLRP itself.

:o  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o  :o
oh my god! I wonder would they do that every month! That is crazy! You would assume if they collect Disney pins that they love Disney! How could you then fly from England to Paris and only go to one of the hotels, knowing there is parks full of disney magic so near!!! :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o shocking!!
Indeed! :P I guess they've just got lots of money. Pin collecting isn't the cheapest of hobbies when you consider the price of jumbo LE pins, etc, whenever they're released, so I guess those people can simply afford to travel all that way just for one night. It is mostly French people there though, so it's not as big a deal for them I don't think.
Ive actually never seen a Jumbo pin in real life lol!
If I lived in france/paris area I would probably consider going when I am not visiting the parks but I wouldn't fly from Ireland or the uk to go lol! :P
Me neither! ;) Although, if I won the lottery, I'm sure I'd change my mind.
lol yeah but if you won the lottery you would just book into a disney hotel for a few days every month and do the PTN and the parks hehe! :P
 Better yet, I'd just buy a house that's not too far from DLRP. Problem solved.
*Back on topic* :D Are you looking forward to what the actual Pin Trading Night pin/pins may be?
Yeah :D :D :D I am getting more and more excited! I think I will buy a few more LE disney Store pins before I go, I already have a few to take with me....the only worry is it being in Davey Crockett Ranch but I can't wait to experience it! I think I will be so overwhelmed and feel really jealous of people with great collections! I thin I will probably be completely stressed to the eyeballs actually.. I don't do well in crowds hehe!! :P :P :P :P :P :P
:P Just take your time walking around. And like I said, be sure to ask if they have certain characters/attractions/etc. If you started looking for certain characters yourself you'll be there forever!
When we went to our very first PTN, the Pin Trading Night pins for that night were Bambi and Thumper. Both of those pins were gorgeous, but since it was our first time, me and my mum only bought one each instead of two, so I never got spares of either of them. When we went in April, the Pin Trading Night pins for that night were Merlin and Meet the Robinsons. The Merlin one is awesome, but the Meet the Robinsons one was so fugly, I traded both of mine away. I still have both Merlin ones. ;) If you want my spare Merlin pin, maybe we could do a trade if I wanted one of your spare PTN pins. It would depend on the character though. If they did a Cheshire Cat one I'd want it so badly.

Don't worry if it was a cheshire cat pin I would give my spare one to you! I promise I would never trade it, knowing how much you love him! Has there ever been a DLP PTN pin of him??
I bought these LE pins in the UK store today for taking with me along with the ones I already have that i am taking....
DO you think I should leave them on there backing's for the pin trading night or just put them on a lanyard as it's easier?
Had a big problem with the Lion KIng pin as there was no back on it and they were trying to charge me £7 saying all LE's are £7 (which they aren't as Mary poppins, lady and tramp etc arent), it was a bit of a debate but i stood up for myself (whlst shaking inside as I hate confrontation) and when they looked it up in a file they seen I was right lol!
Adam : thanks so much for the information! Can I ask how you know this? Is there anywhere in particular to stand and wait or just infront of the train station (probably a bit up from the santa fe stop)??
:D
:D Hopefully you'll get nice characters. Here's all the PTN pins there has been so far.
http://www.pinpics.com/cgi-bin/group.cgi?group=2837 (http://www.pinpics.com/cgi-bin/group.cgi?group=2837)
So far there hasn't been a single villain pin, so maybe they won't do a Cheshire one. :P You never know though. I think since you've got a few on cards there you may as well keep them on cards. :P I don't think other traders are that bothered about the cards though, so it can work either way.
 That's really bad that they tried to charge you £7 for the Lion King pin. :D Good job you stood your ground!

I think I might put them on a lanyard, I have 3 lanyards that are full already, too full actually lol so now I will have 4!!
It was so frustrating today...she took the pin, turned to the other girl and said " how much was that pin?" and the girl said " £7 it's limited edition" and then she turned to me and said "its £7 is that ok, because its limited edition?"! I said "sorry but it's definately not, I have already bought that pin before and i am sure it's £3. Then the girl she asked turned to me and said " all limited editions are £7" and I said " no they aren't that pin is part of the celebration edition pins and it's £3, I swear", then they called the amanger woman over...thankfully it was quiet and the girl serving me said "how much is that pin" and looked at it and again said "its £7 as its limited edition", I said it's not i promise and I turned to the girl serving me (who knows I come in to pin trade as does teh other gurl serving) and I said " I have no reason to lie, as you can see I am spending a fortune on these pins", I said to the manager "no that pin is £3", she repeated the same line in a condesending manner and it was getting very annoying because I was being talked down to and I was right!!
Then the manager went behind the counter and took out a book with barcodes and stuff... she said " limited edition pins are all £7" ( but i could see her backing down a bit as she was worried she was wong"... I said "well actually the mary poppins pin is limited edition and it's £5 and the lady and the tramp pne is limited edition and its £3!"...then she said " you know more about it than I do"...I stood waiting until she finally found the code and yes I was right £3!
I hate confrontation but i didn't like being talked to as though i was definately wrong when I knew I wasn't! I told them to go and ring the other manager who i often deal with or the girl from these boards who works in teh shop and is head of pin trading! lol :P
the PTN pins look lovely, i have seen them on ebay before but they are always expensive due to their rareity! I love the alice one and lilo and all the others ha! I love the meeko one that i just missed! Meeko is cool!
When ppl are queuing for the ptn pins are they orderly or do ppl try to skip? is it the same queue for the pre-release pin if theres one on sale? do the cocktails sell out quickly and is there always a cocktail pin?? :P sorry more questions hehe!
:? OMG what a bunch of silly people. I know pretty much all the Manchester staff now, so I don't think that would ever happen to me. If it did though, I think I would've got annoyed a lot quicker than you did! It's one thing to be told that you're wrong when you know that you're right, but it's another to be spoken to poorly. I very much hope that they apologised to you!
Ok, the answer to that is noooo. Some people in the que are very rude indeed! The Dutch lady who I told you about last night (the one who only comes for PTNs) told us all sorts of stories about certain people who push in time and time again. We saw this first hand when the que started moving. Some old woman held out her arm and ushered in like 5 other people who weren't even in the que whilst blocking the way of everyone else. My mum and the Dutch lady were both fuming.
You pick up the pre-release pin at the same time as the PTN pin. :P I doubt they would run out of the cocktail pins because of high price. Also, it's not like they're LE pins. They're just Cast Lanyard pins that are set to be released soon.
oooo I would get sooo annoyed at people skipping like that!! I think I am gonna be completely stressed but luving it at the same time if that is possible - the event...not luving the stress :P :P . DO you remember how far in advance you started queuing back in April? Where you near the front?
I have to say one of the few things I hate about DLP is rude guests when queuing is meant to happen, or parents shoving children infront of you when your waiting to meet a character or at a parade or something! but theres so much good stuff I try my best to ignore it :P :P
I know some of the staff in my Disney store, they did say they were sorry for keeping me waiting and they weren't exactly rude but just a bit condesending, as though a guest could not be right...if you know what I mean. I have to say though there are some really brilliant staff in it too who i have got to know and who have been more than helpful! At least I proved I was right and not lying!
Even though Cast Members told people not to start queing until like 5:45pm, at about 5pm a group of people ended up standing right where the que was due to start. Obviously more people then stood behind them, and thus the que was formed. I was actually busy looking in a pin book and then when I turned around I was surrounded by people because the table I was at was right along where the que was. :) Luckily my mum had spotted the group that started the que and she had managed to get in fairly near the front. People were definatly pushing in though. There was about thirty people in front of us to begin with, but by the time it got to 6pm there was probably about 50.
I don't get stressed easily, so I didn't really care. Of course I wasn't happy about the pushing, but I knew I was going to get my pins eventually so it didn't really matter to me if a few extra people got there before me. As long as know one pushes me physically, I can deal with that sort of thing.
Oh and by the way...one of the people who pushed in was Goofy. :x
 That was funny though.
:o :o :o :o Goofy!! He should sooo know better!! Funny Goofy is one of teh few characters I really don't like, he just annoys me for no reason...how evil am I! hehe is there always a character there or was that the only time you seen one??
I guess your right, as long as your in the first 100 or 2 then you will get your pins anyway. I think I get stressed to easily :P :P I still wish it wasnt in Davy CR
Is your mum into Pin trading or any of your friends?
:D :D :D :D
There wasn't one at the first one, so I don't know how often they have Disney characters there. :P I don't like Goofy much either, but he was very entertaining. He seemed to take the edge off the queing, as my mum and the Dutch lady weren't the only ones getting a bit stressed.
:) My mum isn't as into Pin Trading as I am. She tends to go through phases of being into it and wanting to go to the Disney Store to trade and phases where she's just content with the pins she's got. I don't have any local friends that are into pin trading, only online ones. The friend I'm going to DLRP with next January has a few pins that she bought when we went in January of this year, so I'm sure she'll buy some UK pins so she can trade this year.
aw that's good that one of your friends is able to go with ya to DLP :D :D :D
My mum's not into trading although i have bought her a few pins before but she has loads of tigger things, she fell in love with him after her first trip to disneyland paris in 2007.
I have been 5 times in total, this will be my 6th.
The trip next January will be my 10th. :P We're booking it for a date near the end of the month, just on the off chance that we may catch a Pin Trading Night. My friend loves roller coasters just like I do, so it's a bit more fun going with her than it is my mum because my mum can't stand roller coasters! My mum loves DLRP though, so I'm sure I'll continue to go on trips with her there as well.
Yeah good idea, Adam says they are usually on the last friday of each month! :D :D :D
I don't like scary rides and neither does my mum so thats not too bad, although its usually more fun to go with ppl your age! :D :D
was there many chesshire cat pins there on ptn ?
There was yes. :D When you search Cheshire Cat on PinPics you get 433 pins, so he's not the rarest of characters to find pins of. As well as the character crest one I showed you, this was the only other Cheshire pin I traded for.
http://www.pinpics.com/cgi-bin/pin.cgi? ... 2659162.v2 (http://www.pinpics.com/cgi-bin/pin.cgi?pin=49568&sid=9912.1252659162.v2)

I got that Cheshire pin and the Nana one below it in exchange for one of the Meet the Robinsons PTN pins.
They are both great! my problem is that I really dont have acharacter that I want pins of specifically like even though I like stitch I have a good few of him so I like getting other characters, unless I really luv the pin! I guess I am going to be doing a lot of looking!
Do the doors to the room where people are trading open sooner than the release of the PTN pins? or does it all open at once?
:P I'm like that. Although I'll only ask for pins featuring certain characters (Cheshire Cat, Scar, Gaston, Zero, etc), that doesn't mean I wouldn't go for a pin not featuring them. I never would've thought to ask if the guy had any Nana pins, I just saw it whilst looking for Cheshire ones and I fell in love. :D I think it would be a shame to stick to only a few characters when there's just so many to choose from.
The PTN pins start getting sold dead on 6pm. I don't know what time traders with tables are allowed to come in and set up, but me and my mum arrived at the April Pin Trading Night at around 4pm and there was already lots of people there. Like I mentioned earlier, it's definatly best to get there early.
I agree with you it definately would be a shame to just stick to one character! I like daisy duck pins! I also love the pins for the 'year of a million dreams' have you seen them?
Thing is the pin trading night is on my last day in the parks, my flight is early afternoon on saturday and so if I leave early for the pin trading nights I have to say goodbye to the parks *sniff sniff* although I guess an hour or two wont make much difference and I am planning to do a Cafe mickey breakfast on my last morning anyway:P aw I feel sad about leaving and it hasnt begun yet lol!
:D Yes, that series of pins is very lovely. I just have this one.

:o Aww, that's a shame. You'll just have to make the most of what park time you have!

oo I have never seen that pin its lovely though!! :D :D :D
how much spending money do you normally take to DLP?
Erm...about £300 I think. I'd rather take too much than too little, but I wouldn't want to take so much that I'd end up needing to change it back into Pounds because it hasn't been spent. So yeah, I think like £300 is a good amount.
How about you?
I usually take about 500-ish this time I have over £1000
 What exactly are you planning on buying? Their entire stock of pins?
hehe!!! :P     lol.... I hope not, I am going to try and refrain from buying loads of pins. I duno I guess I just want to be be able to buy things I want and feel a little more relaxed money wise and if I dont spend it all then thats ok lol :D
 That's exactly why I'm bringing £300, because I don't have to worry about running out. I'll most likely just buy a few pins, a plushie and maybe some clothes too.
I will have to take a photo of the lanywards I am taking with me so you can get an idea of the pins i am going to be trading :D
:D Yes please do. How many core and LE pins are you taking?
just took the photos so i will have them up in a few mins :D ....
I always think the ones I am taking with me are ok and enough until I put them all together and then I think they aren't good  ... heres some pics, 1st one shows them all and then the rest are just close ups...

I think theres 19 LE's there altho theres 2 lion kings, 2 mary poppins and 2 lady and the tramp pins.
Wow Aveen, all your pins are lovely! Are they all doubles? :P I only ask because there's a few pins there that if I owned I would never part with because they're far too nice!
lol aw thanks, I am starting to think they arent that great or something i duno but probably if I had a million I wud think that :P . Yep they are almost all doubles the only ones that aren't are....
-Sharpy and gabrelle (HSM girls) as I don't like HSM also the HSM one under the shamrock stitch which just has the words HSM 2.
- The large donald pin at the bottom of the second lanyard which i may actually not take with me
ermm...
the easter egg shaped stitch pin at the top left of the second lanyard as I dont like it, I traded for it in the disney store, its Limited Edition although i think i woll have a hard time finding someone wanting it at pin trading night!... the rest i bought 2 off at the time!
:D
:) I'm sure whoever you trade with will be very happy.
aw thanks I hope so! nearly all my pins are from the disney store uk, esp the limited edition ones. DO you think its enough to take in total? seeing as ill be needing the core pins for tradining to the parks?
:o I personally think you'll have more than enough there. :P I hope you get to do tonnes of trades in the parks and at the PTN. If it wasn't such short notice for you, I would've wanted to trade some pins with you myself!
I really like the one of Mickey holding Walt's picture, the pink Alice one and the one of Lady and the Tramp snuggling. :D
The walt one isn't actually limited edition although it's going to be hard to trade even though it's a double of mine because I dont think I would trade it unless I really liked what I was trading for (stupid since i already have one of it! :P )
I have never really seen many guests with lanyards, I would be shocked if someone came over to me and asked to trade.
I ordered some of the online edition pins today from the disney store webside...lets just say it was a small fortune!! I bought 2 of the alice one and 2 of the robin hood one and then one of the peter pan one. gonna take the extras to PTN.
do you always keep pins specially for trading? :D
:) Yes I do. Whenever I'm running low on pins that I'm willing to trade, I just buy some more off eBay. I try not to pay anymore than £1.50 per pin, but depending on what's on offer, I'll go as high as £2.00 per pin. I don't trust grab bag lots, so I'll only buy groups of pins where everything you're getting is actually pictured. That way I can study each one for any signs that they may be scrappers.
If you want i'll trade you for the walt pin? At least I know its going to someone who can appreciate it hehe!
:D That would be awesome. I don't think any of my traders are as nice as yours though. They're mostly hidden Mickey pins, so they're all a bit on the small side. Since I only buy them to trade, I tend not to be too fussed about what they actually are as long as they aren't scrappers.
that's ok hehe:) can i see ur pins to trade anywhere?
Hope I didn't scare you off!
 Don't be silly. My comp froze last night, but since I was heading to bed soon anyway, I just switched it off rather than restarting it. :) I took a picture of all my trade pins for you.
Like I said, they're not the greatest pins in the world ever. I bought them specifically to trade at the Disney Store and at DLRP, so as long as they're not scrappers, I don't mind trading them away.
Hey hun,
I'm only one quickly as my dad's using the comp, I like the 101 dalmations one and the daisy one...not sure which though hehe also like the lil frosted mickey..hehe I will be able to let ya know later :)
I think I'll go for the Daisy pin :D
:D Really?! I shall PM you then!
lol yep :D
Rite here is my final line up for the pin trading night...not that great and I know most of them are the uk pins but.....
I also have a spare mary poppins, Lion King and lady and the tramp to take to the parks for the pin boards. I may not take the easter stitch pin seen on this lanyard to the pin trading night but may also use it on the pin boards!
These next 3 lanyards are my core pins for trading with cast members, I had taken one or two off and added a few more I managed to get...

I have to say I like my core lanyards better than my LE's ones lol.
 Gosh Aveen, your new Core additions are awesome! I love the Donald one with chicks and the Castle dangle pin. :P You're really spoiling the cast members you trade with.
lol when you are down to your last two or 4 pins do you just basically ask them to trade and they have to take what you have as long as its not in their lanyard???
Aw thanks! :D I wish I had better for pin trading night but if I get one or two pins then its ok, at least its an experience! :D
Some cast members like to choose for themselves off the lanyard, but most will just happily accept whatever you offer them. :)
well i'm off to DLP :D :D ! Wish me luck at PTN! I hope it goes well and all my other trading, I am sure i will be afraid to ask cast members to trade hehe but I will do my best! Thanks for all the help and I will let you know how I got on when I get back!:)
The Walt pin is on my cork board safely waiting for you so don't worry! :D
cya! xxxxxxxxxx :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/
:D I hope you have a magical time Aveen! :P I can't wait to hear all your Pin Trading stories!

My Pin trading night report Sep 25th 2009- Davy Crockett Ranch.
Ok so it started at 6pm and mum and I were planning to catch the 4pm free bus from the station but by the time we left disneyland park and had walked back to our hotel we had missed it and our feet were killing us so I rang down to reception to ask the approximate price of a taxi and was told approx 15 euros. We decided to split the price and ask reception to order us a taxi. By the time we had left our room and got to the front door the taxi was already there.... now that's what I call fast service.. :o
So we got into the car which was very comfortable and headed to davy crockett ranch was about 5-10 minutes drive... as we pulled into it the driver asked " where do you want dropped off, reception?", so I said yes..thinking that was the obvious place...oh how wrong could I be!
We walked into reception which was literately a small wooden cabin with a reception desk, about 4 people behind the counter, one lady who seemed to be making a compliant and toilets! We went over to the man at reception and I said " I am here for the pin trading night, can you tell me where it is?"... He looked at me and said "do you have a car? I suppose you got here by taxi and its away is it?" we looked confused and said yes he pulled out a map and said " well you are here (pointing at the map) and you need to be at the shop which is about 4km's away!".....mum and I couldn't believe it....he said it would take a good while to walk and our feet were killing us.. I could have cried at that moment  :o  :o  :o .
The man looked annoyed at us and disappeared behind a door.. he came back and said " i will see if one of my coleeges can take you but we are busy at the moment and you will just have to wait!" I didn't find him very nice :( and I could have burst out laughing at him saying they were busy  !!! So we sat in the little log cabin feeling like lost puppies for about 30-40 mins. Then a girl behind the counter asked us what we were doing and mum explained it to her, she was very nice and tried to see what was going on! About 15minutes later a woman came out and said that a guy from the pin trading night event (staff member) was going to take his own car and come down to get us! Thank goodness!!!! =D> =D> =D> I have to say appart from the first man we encountered the other two women were very nice, as was the guy who took us to the shop!
I was just so shocked how far reception was from the shop and other amentities and I never seen any loge cabins so I don't know where they were  ! in fact we were told it was even further that 4kms that we travelled from the reception so thank god we didn't try to walk! When we got dropped off we walked up this dirt track type road to what looked like a barn and picnic tables! At the tables there was people with their pins laid out and then a large queue up to the shop...which I immediately took to be those queuing for the PTN pins! It was after 5pm by the time I got there, so I wasn't even sure if by queuing i would get anything!
I was just shocked by everything, it looked like the outback of no where!
I was also surprised at the age of the people involved nearly everyone was middle aged or elderly and they all seemed to know each other! People in the pin trading night queue were looking at my lanyard of limited edition uk pins and just smirking almost, looking down on me, esp two women who were english speaking... lets say by that stage I wanted to go home!
Here's picture I took looking out at the picnic tables, I have blured out people's faces...
I was a little excited to see loads of pins but little did I know what was infront of me.
Anyway as we stood in the queue Baloo the bear showed up, showing everyone the 2 pins being released that night in a black glass case. I was delighted to see the copper pin esp as I love fox and the hound and the other pin was of baloo..
I was glad to see baloo because at least I was reminded this place was disney owned and not just a farm in the middle of no where! Mickey also made an appearance (sorry bad photo)...
Anyway after about an hour and a half of queueing we finally got to buy the PTN night pins they were 10.90 each...
I only have 1 spare Baloo pin left if anyone wants to make an offer.
I didn't realise how nervous I would be about the next bit, I realised I really didn't have a clue what I was doing and most people were french and didn't speak good english. I just tried to be brave and went around looking at pins and offering to trade for any of my limited editions.. I swear I spent about an hour getting told "no" and having to say " that's ok no problem"....the people were not friendly and made me feel like dirt basically, I felt belitted and wanted to cry.. this was not a friendly trading area. After about an hour my mum came over to me and said she was freezing and had bought a coat in the shop and asked had I traded most of my pins.. I had to tell her no, that infact I nearly had everything I came with and that I was hating the whole experience because of the way the people were going on! :? :? The only thing people wanted were my PTN pins off me! I did trade some for other pin trading night pins or with a man for 3 of his limited edition pins! He was a nice enough guy but the few nice people sadly didn't make up for the whole thing!
I can only describe it as like being in a cult of people who feel they are brilliant because of their disney pin collection and are not there to trade at all but show off to each other...and they do all know each other, so it's just like a scary cult of very weird people! I know that doesn't sound nice and I will say there are one or two nice people but very very few!! :( :( It wasn't the fact they said no to trading with me but their attitude as a whole!
I met an english woman and her daughter who I had actually seen in the park the day before trading with a cast member, I was honestly so glad to meet people who I could talk to because no one was being friendly! I had a good chat with them and they agreed it was just extremely hard to trade and most of them don't even want to anyway! I did one or two trades with them and felt like taking all my pins and handing them over because I didn't want to be associated with this group or pins, it just was all holding such bad feeling for me!
So I was basically about to leave with most of the pins I came with and mum and I walked down to get the bus back to the hotel but it was 50 mins until it came and it was cold, so I suggested to mum we walk back and spend time in the shop! I bought a stitch hoodie to keep me warm.
As I was walking around the shop when one of the official guys that runs the pin trading who was very nice (as was most of the cast member guys) was talking to someone when he stopped me and said to the lady that I had nice uk pins. She seemed nice and a quiet person. She had a bag full of pins with her, but said she hadn't traded either because she finds the people "scary" (and this person actually works in DLP)! I just found the whole concept of it all ridiculous, I thought it was meant to be a friendly thing. Anyway we stood there and traded pins for about 15 mins and it was the easiest trading ever and she even gave me a free Giselle (Enchanted) pin I liked! She was lovely and I really feel that is the way pin trading should be! Yes she said no to trading a few different pins but I think that is fine, I don't mind people saying no but I think being friendly is important! Anyway it was lovely to meet her and only for her I would have left with most of my own pins. I was happy with the trades I did with her and she was a lovely person but I still just wanted to get away from davy crockett ranch and back to the hotel!
I swore that night I would never go back to a pin trading night, even if it was only across the road from my house because the same people trade at them and I just don't like being treated like dirt for something so stupid as disney pins!! :? :?  The people are condesending and if they are reading this I am sorry but I honestly cannot take back what I am saying as I believe it and I have highlighted anyone I thought was nice...which was few and far between!
I have never been as glad to get back to disneyland and my hotel and I will never go off- site again during my stay because nowhere is as good as DLP!
I don't fully regret going because at least now I know what it's like but if I knew it was going to be the way it was I wouldn't have gone. I still find it hard to even look at my pins at all even ones not from that night as it makes me feel bad...stupid I know
I just want to say that this is only my account of my experience and what other people I met there said etc I know other people may have experienced better things at thier PTN but unfortunately It wasnt good in my opinion :?   :?
anyway here's pictures of what I got that night...mainly all from the one person I accidently met in the shop

sorry the photos aren't great! just incase you are wondering the first one has parts blocked out as I only wanted to show the pins I got on PTN not others that i traded in the parks which I will show though in another post.
Thanks for reading! :D
:( Oh Aveen, I'm so sorry that all that happened to you. There were a few awkward people at the nights I went to, but in general I found most people to be polite/well-mannered/etc. If I had never been to a PTN before and then read your report, I'd never ever want to go to one! Maybe both times I went I just got very very lucky with the people I interacted with.
On the bright side though, the pins you did trade from that one woman are absolutely gorgeous! :P I want that Aurora pin, that Bambi pin, that circular Belle pin, that Jessica pin and that Fox and the Hound pin! :D You traded way more from her than I did at the PTN in April, so hopefully it was worth it just for that.
Hey Aveen! Thanks at last for posting pictures from inside a PTN, I've always wanted to know what one is like! As for the smirking people - your always going to get them, absolutely obsessive and making people feel inferior, best just to ignore them and enjoy yourself and laugh at all their pins that are really rare but equally ugly!
As for the PTN pins - would you trade me the Baloo? My name is 'Barnsey' on PinPics, please look at my collection - Not tradeables. Would you also be willing to trade the Wishes pin? (PM me!) :D

Hey hun,
I don't want to sound so negitive about it and for anyone else reading as I said this is just my experience and what some other people there said. The woman and daughter who agreed how many people don't even want to trade actually keep going to these events and have for years.. I think perhaps I am too sensitive for the way they go on. I don't have much self esteem as it is so being made feel inferior doesn't really make me feel good. :(
I did get some great pins but for me it didn't really make up for it....but i also want you to not feel bad for it because i would have went anyway and i still want to say a huge thankyou for your advice! it really helped! :D
To anyone reading...
There are people like masamune who have been to 2 pin trading nights and had a great time so for people reading this please do take it into consideration also.
Barnsey - sorry I didn't see any pin that i would like to trade but thank you for making the offer. Unfortunately like yourself I really like the wishes pin and was very relieved a man who was very hard to trade with did trade for it. It has sentimental value for me. Sorry
Hmmmm, the "sharks". These horrid breeds of traders exist in all the resorts around the globe, and they really take the fun out of it. Not fun. They got so bad in Toyko that they actually banned it in the end.
The ones at DLP are praticularly bad. I have got some good trades before, but only when I have conducted the transactions in French.
BTW - Davy Crockett is not "off-site". In fact they used to have Disney buses like the hotels until the cost cutting came in. Also, it sounds like the tiredness, not understanding the layout of the resort, and the sharks did not help your mood.
Try going off site sometime, there are many excellent things to see and do. In fact so much so, our trip next May, I am seriously considering not bothering with the parks or maybe only 1 day in each.
OMG Aveen I feel so sad for you! What a horrible experience!...hope you feel better now!!

I guess it's not off site but it definately feels that way as it is a good distance from the rest of the resort and Disney basically disown it by not having regular buses to it in my opinion! If they valued it as a place for their guests to stay they would run at least some free buses to it.
You are right though not knowing that davy crockett ranch was laid out like that and having the "sharks" to deal with did contribute to my mood.
Simbas girl - aww thanks huni! :D
  Wow Aveen i, like you thought a PTN would of been a fun experience! I don't think I'll ever go to one now, thankgod for the lady you met...you got some lovely pins btw!

Maybe I just didn't have a good night or bad luck with who was there. I don't really want to put people off but I also wanted to be honest about my experience. Masamune has been to two pin trading nights and really enjoyed them so her experience was totally different to mine...maybe it's something each person has to go to themselves to see what they think.
:)

I think they do that to make it more of a self drive location, I dont think Disney disown Davy Crockett at all

I can only really give my own opinion on how it felt but i was only visiting, maybe someone who stayed there would feel differently.
Now that you mention it, there really was a lot of elderly/middle-aged people there in April. I never really thought about it. It's a shame really, because I imagine if a child ever wanted to visit one of those nights, they wouldn't have much fun.
 And I had always wondered where that term "pin shark" comes from. :P I love sharks, so a while ago I bought a Disney lanyard which says "pin shark" on it, and at the end there's a Bruce medallion. Don't think I'll be wearing that again, lol!
Poor you! It's so hard to get into pin trading in the first place, we just collect ones that mean something to us and don't bother with trading, although I've pondered it from time to time. I'll admit I do get a bit excited about LE pins and was pleased as punch when I managed to get a LE 15th anniversary pin.
I think your experience, although not everyone's experience, is so sad and such a shame seeing as (and correct me if I'm wrong) wasn't pin trading set up in the first place to get visitors to the parks to interact and share the experience?
Yeah it is sad that it's turned into a bussiness rather than a hobby fans can share!
As Davewasbaloo said the traders in Hong Kong got so bad it was banned!!
I also spoke to a woman from the DISboards who said she went to a pin trading night in DLP and experienced the same thing and will now only trade with cast members in the parks! It really is stupid how it has got far too out of hand!
However i don't want this to take from the fact that some people go and enjoy the experience too such as masamune :D
there will be a UK pin traders meet on the 7th November ...
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=7943 (https://forum.dlpguide.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=7943)
Sorry to ask guys , but whats Pin Trading ? Because i have never done it before :? :?
Pin trading is when....
1 you buy disney pins in the parks or the disney store or on ebay etc
2. you can trade them with either cast members in the park who have lanyards around their neck
or
3. You can now trade at the disney store in the uk also
or
4. you could trade with another pin collector or trader as they are called.
Basically its just like swapping your pin for something you like on someone elses lanyard as long as they agree.
More rules are:
1. you can only trade a max of 2 pins per day with a cast member although you can trade with other cast members for example if you were in disneyland and you traded two pins with a cast member in one shop and then walked into another and wanted to trade another two pins you could do that.
2. You can only trade a pin that isn't already on the other persons lanyard. For example if you have a donald duck pin and want a daisy duck pin from a cast members lanyard you can only trade it if that cast member doesnt already have that exact same donald pin already on his/her lanyard.
3. pins you trade must be official disney trading pins with the mickey rubber head on the back also
There are other rules but those are the main ones, as well as being curtious and friendly to those you are trading with.
:)
Forgot to mention that there are pins of different values
Core pins - usually the cheapest to buy pins
Limited edition pins - pins which there is only a certain amount of them made so a pin my be released with a Limited edition of 1000. This means these pins are rarer and usually dearer to buy
Then there is cast lanyard pins - These are pins that you cannot buy in shops but are given to cast members by the disney compnay for trading
Hidden mickey pins- these are usually cast lanyard pins also, they are just pins that usually have a small black hidden mickey on them like this...
You can usually tell what type of pin it is by looking at the writting on the back which may say 'cast lanyard pin' or ' limited edition of 600' etc :D
feel free to ask anymore questions:)
ohh , so its basically swapping with someone else :) . Thanks Aven :) x your a star :D :D
Quote from: "15yearsofMagic2008"ohh , so its basically swapping with someone else :) . Thanks Aven :) x your a star :D :D

Hey,
I'm not sure if there is one in october because it usually says it on this poster (got from //http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading which shows the october releases. Perhaps with Halloween festivites there is no actual pin trading night....

But I have been to a trading day at the same store as Masamune and I fully enjoyed the time spent chatting about pins and seeing other peoples collections. We was there for 2 hours and it really flew by as we was having to much fun :)
I really cant wait for the next one but I must get more traders as I have run low on them lol

Lindsay could you tell us how you got on at the pin trading night? I would be really interested in hearing about it as i ahve never been to one before.
Ro
 There isn't that much to tell unfortunatly. We got there about 4:30pm, and then someone started the que for the Pin Trading Night pin coupons at about 4:50pm, even though they don't give out the coupons till 6pm. We knew we had to rush off and get the coach to the airport as soon as we bought the pins, so there wasn't much time for browsing at all.
The lovely Jessica Rabbit Cast Member was there. :) He's such a nice man (although he's also a little bit odd). He introduced me to another Cheshire Cat collector, so I had a look at his pins. He had loads of my Holy Grails, but I didn't really have anything he wanted to trade. If I would've had enough time after buying the PTN pins then I would've gone back to trade with him, but the coach was at 6:45pm and by the time we got our coupons and qued up to buy the pins it was about 6:35pm. We needed to pick up our bags as well from the baggage hold room, so we literally did have to rush out and get ourselves sorted.
Since this was my 3rd Pin Trading Night, I wasn't too upset about not having enough time at it. And this time I found myself just feeling a bit skeptical about trying to talk/trade with anyone, considering how badly poor Aveen had been treated at her 1st PTN. Also, the area they set up at the Sequoia lodge was much much bigger than the Santa Fe area they set up for the last 2 PTNs I'd been too. Once again it was all a bit too over-whelming, and although more time would've been nice, I was still most interested in just getting the PTN pins and going home.

Sorry hun I didn't mean to scare you off, I just wanted to be honest about my experience
I cant wait to go to a PTN maybe next year when I get myself sorted and I can take a trip to DLRP :) as would love to go even for a few days or just for the experience of the night really.
Thanks Lindsay. It's a shame you didn't have more time to trade before going home. I can't decide if i would like to go to one of these or not considering that you take so much time out of the park and they could just turn down all your trades. At least it is free to go to and the pin trading night pins are always good to trade with.
Ro
thats all I would really want if I went to one of these is a PTN pin, Id keep one for myself no matter who it was as a momento of first one but Id trade the reast as they are always tradable which is a good thing.
:P Aww, don't be silly Aveen. I wasn't scared, I was just skeptical. Since we didn't have much time, I just didn't see much point in even bothering to try and trade with anyone. If we would've had more time it would surely be a different story. :)
Wendy has just found out that there is a PTN on the 26th of feb which is whilst we are out there. This will be our 4th night and will be looking forward to it. I just hope the dont run out of pins like last time we were there.
We have found from the experience so far that there are a core group who go to all the nights who if your not careful will try and trade your pins for either french limited or want 2/3 pins for 1, which really is frustrating.
That said they are not all bad and it is great to see people from all over the world sharing in our hobby :D/
8 days till DLRP here we come
:) I hope you get nicer PTN pins than I did. I still think Tarzan and Sebastian were both rather lame.
I would like to attend a pin traditing event at some point, but it all depends on whether it's a special event and whether it's on a time that is doable. Since I mostly go for one day evening events may not be the best as there's the drive home after that.
:( OMG, I can't believe that last nights PTN pin was Carl. That will be such a strong seller and trader. Now I believe we were even more unlucky to end up with Tarzan and Sebastien.
I know I just seen that..
has Danny seen this yet? lol
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!
insert very bad language but I HAVE to have that pin no matter what....MY NEW HOLY GRAIL!!!!
ok ok I was rushing then but foudn it on ebay and Michael bought it for me :) didnt know till I had made the tea hehehe
Hehe I am glad ya got it hehe!! I knew you would like have to have it definately!! :D There must have only been one PTN pin this month was there?
Hahaha was there any doubt I wouldnt go look for it as soon as I saw it lol I had to be quick as with all the new UP pins as if I miss it I am doomed to pay a fortune for it lol 30 euro wasnt a bad price for the pin I dont think.
Lucky you Danny! Shame they didn't tell people in advance waht the pins are. I bet you'd have been first in line if they had.
Ro

More details available here (//http://www.adcp-disneyfan.com/pins/pinevent.jpg).
We had a great time at the PTN everyone was friendly :D . We found that the english pins got a mixed reaction most really liked them, whilst others did not want to even look at them.
However the UP pin we got is reaqlly good and I can belief the amount of pin trade requests we have had for it.

I have never been on a pin trading event, so sorry for the many questions.
Do all people trade there or are there some that only show their collection and don't want to trade. Is it possible to buy pins like in the parks? Are there many people attending the pin trading nights?
I usually don't trade. I just collect them and buy only the pins I want to have in my collection.

The only pins you can buy on a PTN are the PTN pins which you usually have to queue for in order to get them as they sell out fast!
Sellers aren't allowed or supposed to sell pins on PTN its meant to be trading only. I found that some sellers can be very disinterested in trading and sometimes just want to show off their collection moreso than trade but they are supposed to be there to trade and you can always ask and all they can say is no I guess.
My PTN was at davy crockett ranch so not really a normal PTN in the hotels so there was only about 10-15 traders at it

I have a question which is not about Pin Trading Nights but about MNSSHP. We have booked tickets in October and i was wondering if they have any special pins that come out for these nights? I know they do in WDW but wondered if it was the same for DLRP?
Ro
what does MNSSHP stand for?? Ive not heard/seen that before now XD
MNSSHP stands for:
Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party
Hey Ro I picked up the new DLRP brochure this afternoon as I might be going to DLRP in October for my birthday and in the brochure it gave dates to a Not so scary halloween party I aint got the brochure with me at the moment but I can remember the 15th and 22nd October as some of the dates lol
Hope that helps you out :)
i've just booked my trip to dlp for Oct for my bday  I may see you there!!!
Edit - There are usually one or two nice pins released around the time. If I remember rightly, last year there was a special pin and lanyard that could only be bought at the events themseleves and one or two on halloween night itself.
awesome what dates have you booked. IF we go it will be from the 17th-22nd October (18th is my birthday hehe) and we would be staying at the Santa Fe Hotel. Just he is going New York in July so cant book until then so time will tell really. But would be awesome if we were all seemingly going at the same time lol

October 2009 - exclusive pin and lanyard for Not So Scary, with other pins for both.
I am going to Disneyland Paris on the 15th May for 2 weeks and I'm wondering if my holiday will coincide with a pin trading night. Can anyone help me? I ahven't been to one before and would like to go to one.
Thanks everyone. I am going 4th-9th October to the New York Hotel. We have alraedy booked our tickets for MNSSHP on 8th October and am very excited. Although it is my 10th visit it is my first Halloween. I will look out for pins and all of you!

Most likely - they tend to be on the last Friday of each month. Keep an eye on this thread for the details.
Thanks for the reply.

Just wondering if you could tell me please how you booked your MNSSHP tickets? I'd really like to get some for my trip but when I rang the 0844 no they advertise I was advise that they're not on sale yet and won't be for at least another 2 months
Hi,
We booked our holiday direct with Disney over the phone using the number on the back of the brochure (sorry haven't got it with me at the moment so i can't tell you what it is.) Whilst booking the holiday the CM actually asked me if i wanted tickets, i had already planned on getting them but hadn't got round to asking yet. They are booked and a deposit paid for them and we have confirmation so tickets are definately on sale. I wanted to add them as early as possible as i know there are only a set amount and didn't want to miss out. I suppose they may only be on sale if you book direct and then they will be available to everyone else later. Hope this helps.
Ro
Thanks for the info, I'll look up that number and give them a ring tomorrow and hopefully will be able to get some lovely party tickets 8)
The only thing I'm worried about is if it really is geared towards smaller children. I'm not taking any with me and might end up looking like a right numpty...oh well chances are I'll be the biggest kid there
We are not going with any children either! I expect it to be roughly the same mix as in the day as there are always loads of couples going round. Also the party goes on until 11pm so as the night goes on i expect to see less children.
Ro
^ well I've decided to go for it tried the number you suggested from the brouche, was answered straight away - I was half expecting them to be closed but I was answered straight away, and quikily added it to my booking now I can't wait MNSSHP on my bday!!!! On top of going to Florida in June for Star Wars weekends, this year is going to be great  (OT: and I feel like I deserve it after the rubbish start I had with my broken elbow)
Is MNSSHP classed as a pin event???? If so, I am definitely going!!!!! I was thinking about going anyway but if there's pins involved, NOTHING is going to stop me going!! Does anyone know what its like being at MNSSHP, how fun is it (as im 16 and so excited to be going for my 2nd time!!!!)??
Just, wondering why no info on a trading night in May yet.
Pleeeeease, if anyone knows, let me know as I am going in less than 2 weeks.
I found the details on another forum
Friday 28th May at the Sequoia Lodge from 6pm. Sorry dont know how to add links
Donna
Thanks Donna.
Ermm where abouts is the Sequoia Lodge, is it in the park? This will be the first one I have attended so I want to make sure I go to the right place.
Hi Andyroid20
Sequoia Lodge is one of Disneyland Paris hotels and is sited around Lake Disney. It is a 10/15 minute walk from the park gates and is well sign posted. I have never been to a pin trading night before so I cant give you any more info although I have been to Disneyland Paris many times. Someone else maybe able to answer any more questions about the night. Have a great time trading!!!
Donna
Thanks very much for your help.
Next Pin Trading Night: 28th May 2010
Disney's Sequoia Lodge Hotel from 6.00pm onwards.
This month's pins details are available in the Disneyland Paris: Pin Trading Releases thread (//http://www.photosmagiques.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8159).
I have looked at the releases and does that mean there are no releases at the event?
All that gets released at a Pin Trading Night is one or two Pin Trading Night pins as well as a pre-released of a pin that's due to come out the month after.

Cheers. I haven't been to one before and its the night before I come home so just wondering how much of my spending money to save as I won't get chance to buy anything after the event. What sort of prices are the trading night pins and what sort of pins are they/how limited are they?
the Pin trading night pins are mainly always LE400 (can pruchase 2 of each pin available) the link below shows what all the PTN pins look like
http://www.pinpics.com/cgi-bin/group.cgi?group=2837 (http://www.pinpics.com/cgi-bin/group.cgi?group=2837%22%20onclick=%22window.open(this.href);return%20false;)
They cost 10.90 euro so call it 11 euro per pin
Well, at the last PTN I went to, they released 2 PTN pins. :o I bought 2 of each one, which came to 43.60 for the 4 pins. I passed on the pre-release pin, as it wasn't anything I collect. :P But yes, that means you'll need about 50-60 Euros, just to be on the safe side. The Pin Trading Night pins are an investment, whether you buy them to trade or to sell, you'll pretty much always be able to get something back that's more than what you paid for them.
Don't know if there is another thread for this but is anyone going to the event on the 24th? What will it be like? What goes on at these?
Do you mean the Mad Hatters Tea Party at the end of this month?? I dont know what goes on at these but do know you have to have it booked since its an event unlike a PTN (dont think you have to pay to get in for those)
I know a person who is going to the Tea Party at the end of this month, cant wait to see what pins they release :P
Not that I would be able to go to this one but am thinking of trying to make sure I manage to get to either one of these events or a PTN next year so would love to know what goes on so I can decide . I can't believe that I have always booked when there is nothing going on :( I am going to miss this, the event in October(read about in DIzpins board) and the shareholders TSPL event, and neither trip will be on a last Friday, my planning is just so poor. Maybe you can let me know how your friend gets on please.
I will send her the link for here and maybe she will type up a Trip Report. I hope there will be a PTN in Jan when I go and hope they dont decide a trading day as thats happened to my friend. Booked to go at the end of the month for the PTN and there isnt one (at the moment) as a Pin trading Day event.
Good idea, its usually cheaper in January and February as well. Not that I need any more excuses to go back :)

What is the event in Oct? Had a quick look on dizpins and coudln't see anything. I'm going in Oct for my bday and would love an event to be around that time. I already posted in another thread about bad luck (leaving my good traders at home - NEVER trust someone else to pack somehting so important!!!) meaning that I missed out on the PTN in Florida whilst I was there last month. I've already got a few nice traders that I intend to take along with me, for the board if I find it.
Hmnnnn I wonder if it would be worth joining the share holders club...
I thought the same think about the share holders club but how much is that to join etc any info??
The event in October is Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party
There is a great shareholders club thread on this site that walked me through joining. Cost will vary depending on price of shares but once you have bought 20 its free to join the club for life.
Also the event in October I was talking about is actually a pin trading day in September  I do wonder about myself sometimes, Will this be like the Mad Pin Party? Or is a pin trading day a different type of thing?
Sorry to create such confusion, I shoul really check my facts and wording before I post
Thanks for letting me know you meant the event in Sept. Danny I've got my tickets for MNSSHP already I pick them up when checking in! I really can't wait its been far too long since my last trip to DLP. I bought a lovely Mickey scarf in WDW and I was telling the CM who served me that I was buying it to take along to me to DLP in Oct as it will be a lot colder than here! I was already looking forward to DLP whilst in WDW I just love it there :)
I think that if you intend to go to DLP a number of times over a couple of years joining the share holders club will pay for itself. I'm seriously considering it and then the 10% off in UK disney stores would be a good bonus as well.
well Im already booked for Jan next year (my first trip) then maybe going again in April/May time so that me trip number 2 :p so I might look into it if its not hugely expensive to buy 1 share at a time rather than the 20 said in the post above XD

Aloha,
Another thing you might wanna do is get an annual pass. They pay for themselves. I understand if you've bought a package trip that includes park entrance tickets that this may seem a bit extreme but you get discounts on everything in the park, food. pins. merchandise. PINS...
If we'd thought about it when we first went then we'd have got them sooner. But even though we've only been going once a year ish for the past four years we've made considerable savings on many things but mostly on our pin habit.
And we will be using our passes next year for our big August trip to get discount on accomodation within the park :)
We've also thought about buying shares, many of our friends and family have joked that we must already have them, we've been so many times. Like you we're looking into it. :)
Aloha :stitch_bounce:
Wendy
Did anyone get to the event on the 24th? What went on, looking forward to hearing about it :D
Just found out that any pins leftover from the Pin trading day may still be available to me when i go to DLRP 2 days later. Big whoop as i really like the Zero pin.
Ro
:( I very much doubt that that one would still be available. The LE 400 pins are always the first to go. My friend went to the Alice pin event they had, and the two LE 400 pins sold out during the event itself. The PTN pins always sell out on the night too.
Hi,
I know it's a long shot and the Pin Trading Night pins always sell out but I've been reliably informed that pin trading day pins are more likely to remain unsold even if it is only a handful. The Pirates of the Caribbean pin day earlier in the year for example did not sell all pins. I have been given the information from a very good source on a different board to tell me exactly where any leftover pins will be. Although it doesn't worry me that much even if I don't get hold of any as they are not in my must have group of pins, I will just be very happy that I will get the MNSSHP pin.
Ro
Zero is a very popular collection though, which will increase the chances that that one will sell out. I reckon the others will still be there for you, but not the Zero pin. I collect Zero myself, and was hoping to go to DLRP just to get that pin. It's worked out too expensive though, so I'm just gonna have to get it on eBay.
:) Fingers crossed for you though.
I also thought about going just to get the zero pin et al. I can't believe there will be any left...
Will eagerly be waiting for them to be listed on ebay!!
Martin
Oh well like i said i'm not really that bothered if it wasn't for the fact i'm going 2 days after i wouldn't even think about getting them, they all look good to be fair so i will prob pick up any of the styles if they were to have any left when i go. The mayor looks like a spinner so he will be quite cool and Jack is always good, but it certainly won't make or break my holiday and like i said MNSSHP pin will be available to me on the Friday so i'm happy either way!
So excited less than 3 weeks to go!!
Ro
Have a good time!!!
Hi,
If there are any of those pins left then normally Soraya lets us know and offers us the option to buy. We were lucky enough to get practically the whole set from the Pirates event. :D/
Nothing from the Mad Hatter event though
I'd love to get the Zero pin. [-o<
Here's hoping
Does anybody have any idea when the December PTN is?

Martin

they are usually on the last friday of each month, but I guess with it being Christmas/new year time it may not be, there could be a christmas event or something.
Ive seen on dizpins there is a Xmas event...link to the thread below :) normally there isnt a PTN when an event is on in the same month.
http://dizpinsboards.yuku.com/topic/18706 (http://dizpinsboards.yuku.com/topic/18706%22%20onclick=%22window.open(this.href);return%20false;)
Did anyone get to the Christmas Pin event? There were some awesome pins released. I really really want to go there for christmas but because I work in retail that is Never gonna happen
Im heading to DLRP in just under 2 weeks, and should hopefully be able to attend the PTN, anyone got any tips for me as first time XD
Im curious as to what they do if they have left over pins...do we queue again or is it free for all and is it right at the end so I have to stay the whole night??
how many people roughly turn up??
if I get my 2 pins, can I queue up again and het 2 more??
To attend these events you just have a pass / theme park ticket and just show up at the hotel where it is being held?
I dont think you need a park ticket or pass as your technically not going into the park as most events/PTN are held at the hotels which are free to enter, obviously if the event was ever held inside the park youd need a pass/ticket.
October PTN?
