If you were on an ride in DLRP and it was to breakdown what would the WORST ride you would be on and it broke down?
For me the worst ride to breakdown easy to think of!
Its A Small World
One of the worst for me would probably be Peter Pan's Flight. Two reasons:
1) It's so dark in there! Far darker than I remember.
2) Because you're lifted off the ground, in an evacuation you all have to climb down a ladder, etc, and it must take forever for them to get everyone off.
As for the best, personal experience tells me Buzz Lightyear. We got stopped on that (presumably to let a disabled person board) and it was right next to the jack-in-the-box goon. Racked up a fair few extra points on him!
Space Mountain on a loop :L
or
Haunted Mansion graveyard scene - not because it's bad just annoying after a while and if you have to walk through it ohhhhh creepy :L
id still say its a small world , just think about it being stuck on it and the dam song still playing and no escape until a CM rescues you!!
very true lol
I would have never thought that about Peter Pan's Flight, it would take AGES to get everyone out! I think any attraction which kept you there for a long time would be bad.
I'd be interested to see what would happen on a Big Thunder Mountain breakdown, just to see how the CM's would get you off the island!
I think there is lifeboats beside Indian Village, well I saw some on Saturday when I was on the Kneelboats.
What about TOT, being stuck just a fraction down the liftshaft from the top doors. I'd be thinking well I could unclip my seatbelt and look for some side wall ladders, climbing to the nearest side exit emergency door, or sit and wait until the lift carriage can be winched manually. But just think, it you picked the first option, and the carriage broke free and started decending again....Well the reality of that doesn't bear thinking about, other than to remember what happened to the original people in the service elevator, and you wouldn't be far short of the end result..  :o
I wouldn't like to break down on a dark ride, but I'm sure they would end up switching the lights on. Then I think it would be interesting to see how it all looks.
I agree with you that It's a Small World would be a terrible ride to get stuck on.
Tot would be interesting to be stuck on.
However Crush's coaster would be quite cool, and i'd love it if they turned on the lights just so i could see how it looked in light! :D
for me it must be ........... The Pirates of the Carribean . Even though i have never been stuck on it , it must be hard to get out of with the water going at 60 mph and you could get caught on something and the way the animatronics move , because you just think there gonna get you ! :P :P :P :P :P :D/ :D/ :D/ :D/
Pirates, It's A Small World, TOT!
Well boat rides breaking down just before the drops aint very nice!
TOT would just freak me out if i was stuck in the lift shaft! Id get claustrophobic!
I still have not been on TOT, BTM or Space Mountain and i have been to DLRP 14 timesZ!
Rock n rollercoaster, i was brave enough to go on it and guess what just whilst i was getting into the car, it broke down so i kinda paniced and ran out the emergency exit!
so you have been on crush's coaster and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril? :P :P :P
Quote from: "CentralPlazaPerson"so you have been on crush's coaster and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril? :P :P :P
No i wouldnt dare going on Indiana Jones + The Temple of Peril, and i havent been to disney since 3 months before 15th anniversary so yeh
I personally think crush's coaster is a little bit faster than thunder mountain.
I have been on all thrill rides at dlrp except TOT.....which will take a while
I was a bit surprised the first time I went on Crush's Coaster, it was more extreme than I'd expected! It's a lot of fun though!
Agreed I forgot there was a small but fast drop after the jellyfish scene.... I think.....During the scary fish scene.
And is Bruce ment to light up when you go past?
I remember Bruce did light up when I was on it, it was a strobe light though I think.
If you broke down on the EAC part of the ride I can imagine it would be quite a task for the CMs to get everyone out, especially if your shell was still spinning haha!
How shells would be in the EAC part at the same time?
Bruce didn't light up when I went on it last weekend. I was goin up that lift hill backwards though :?
I still saw Bruce when I was backwards one time, maybe the effect was broken last weekend? I thought that there was always at least one other shell whizzing round the EAC at the same time as you?
Bruce is definitely harder to see going backwards than going forwards. That said, I think the angler fish is better going backwards, so it's a trade-off.
Sometimes the Bruce effect isn't quite synchronised with the car and it goes off a bit early, so whoever is sitting the back misses it. That might've been what happened.
For me, there is no worst ride to breakdown on. My dream is to get stuck on one of Rock 'n' Roller Coaster's mid-course brake runs so we have to be evacuated!
to be honest i would jsut love to get evacuated on ANY ride dont mind what one just to see how the CM's react and see some parts of the backstage areas [-o<
same here! Space Mountain would be class :P half way up the laucher...imagine the view for magicforum trip reports :P :P
When I went we got broke down on Crush's Coaster and they never got the lights on and we were one corner away from the loading platform and Crush's words was going in my head "Awesome dudes, Now stay seated til your shell goes to the bird house, Got ya latter lil dudes!" and when we found out why there was some drunk people in the queue and the staff refused to take them on, Good on them!
Broken down on the outside chain lift hill on Big Thunder Mountain, That was a supprising long walk back :P
Never really have been on a ride that broke down and had to be evacuated but last time I went, we were on Crush when it stopped for a few minutes. We were just being pulled up the first hill and basically "hung" there facing the ceiling (not that you could see anything since it was dark). Not a very nice feeling even though I felt much more sorry for the people who faced down the hill  ...
When I was in DLP in 2006 we broke down during the Snow White ride, the whole thing only lasted about 5 minutes but thats a long time when your stuck with scary figures of the Witch and darkness all about, my friends and I were totally freaked out. We were wondering whether to get out of the carts or not, there was no one behind us or infornt so we felt totally alone...it was also near the end of the day and we thought perhaps they were shutting down the ride and forgot about us! :o It was scary hehe!!

That sounds pretty creepy!
a couple of times when ive been to dlrp we have been on the haunted mansion when it has broken down it was quite freaky!! the first time we were at the bit near the start where the bride is running through the hallway and the next time was in the haunted western village. it wasnt too bad though because it only lasted about 5 or 10 mins.
Usually when rides like Phantom Manor and Buzz "break down" it's because they're letting a disabled guest on or off. The ride vehicles are always moving, so they have to stop the entire chain of vehicles so the person has time to board.
I'd have to agree that the "worst" would be It's a Small World due to the annoyance factor--but the scariest to me would be in California Adventure: California Screamin' and the Sun Wheel/Mickey's Fun Wheel.
I was walking over to ride Screamin' one afternoon and they were doing a breakdown removal of passengers. It was fascinating to watch, but essentially emergency breaks had locked folks in place at different stages of the ride. The worst was one that was locked at the very top of the biggest lift. Castmembers had to walk up the side of the lift, unlock seats one by one, escort people out, and then the guests had to walk down thin stairwells built into the ride. It looked pretty damn scary for someone like me who doesn't like heights. I think for that genuine feeling of fear, the worst at Disneyland Resort Paris would be Tower of Terror.
Brer Dan
It has to be TOT! Although I have to agree with CPP and getting off the Phantom Manor in the dark would be a challenge.
P.S. To CPP
When's your Frontierland site starting, and how do I get to it? We love love love FL!!! :D

We broke down on Thunder Mountain, it was my youngest daughters first time on a roller coaster   She was 8, we stopped just before they take your picture.
They were rubbish at letting us know how long we were going to have to wait, it was around 6.30pm just after New Year so was dark. Eventually they got us out of the carriage, and we had to walk back, which took us through parts of the ride, and througha service door, and we were totally under the mountian. It was ace, a totally different aspect of the ride...
Pirates of the Caribbean would be the worst. Would you have to wade through the water or do they have a rowing boat that comes around to collect everyone?
We once got stuck on Phantom Manor. It was awful. AWFUL. I needed the toilet but my mum convinced me to go on Phantom Manor because there was no queue and the ride was short. But of course that was the day we got stuck for 30mins :?
The Cast Member was going to make us walk through the creepy graveyard with that dog that creeps me out, but he changed his mind and brought us down the fire exit instead.
It kind of spoilt the scariness of it for me, because I got to see 'backstage' and its just a normal building with concrete steps leading down to an exit :)
I had to get evacuated in Space Mountain almost at the end and PotC on that 1st lift. Was funny to see the cast members reacting, some cool some less cool  They've worn that kind of fishing trousers... During both evacuation we could see a lot of the backstage area :) I videotaped it if anyone is interested... Was fun!
Quote from: "esmeralda"I videotaped it if anyone is interested...
Definitely!

 ok, i'm now officially NEVER going on ToT again
I've never been evacuated, but if I'm going to be evacuated it should be Space Mountain. It would be very interesting to see what it looks like backstage.
I'd be interested to know how rollercoaster security works, especially if it has loops.
Surely, you cannot get stuck atop a loop, hanging heads down.
I'd think they have security checkpoints and can stop there, so... I'd like to see Space Mountain lit, too. Then again... don't spoil it for me.
(The fantastic book "A Behind The Dreams Look At Making The Magic Real" has some model photos of SM.)
i also got stuck in phantom manor at madame leona's table! it wasn't that bad, cause nobody got evacuated and everyone thought it's just because of listening to the story leona is telling :D
I often saw BTM stuck, always on the same place, in the highest curve you see from the entrance of Frontierland.
Quote from: "luke85"I'd be interested to see what would happen on a Big Thunder Mountain breakdown, just to see how the CM's would get you off the island!
LOL it broke down on taht island when we was on it, we were sittin there for almost an hour, it was quite late already and, well, sitting on top of a mountain in ur tshirt and shorts in the middle of a "nice" breeze....aint all that hehee
At least we got anytime fastpass tickets :) ...thinking about it, shouldve kept em for souvenirs..but what can u do, btm is just SO darn good hehe :)
My son and his friend was "rescued" from the top of BTM. Last time we were on DLPR we were rescued from Buzz. Buzz must be the attraction that is broke most times of all the attractions. Every time I've been at DLPR it is broke at least two times a day.
The worst one is definetly the tower of terror beacause if anything happens people will panick also it will take a while till a cm comes
the 2nd one is Indiana jones during the loop with your head upside down butifthere is. Problem on any ride they make sure every car is close to an emergency exit before they stop the ride
When you say buzz freezes a lot i actually heard they stop it to let a disabled person ride
I love when it happens helps me get a bit more points

From what I have been told it would not stop upside down due if it was to break down, with the speed the rides go at etc it would be more than capable to complete the loop before coming to a stop

i think they stop the ride when every car is close to an emergency exit cuz last time it broke down when i was on it it stopped ecaxtly next to the emergency exit but in case of emergency they can stop the car and make it advance slowly i heard
The worst ride in an evacuation situation would be any roller coaster for me. I am very afraid of hights. Thanks Disney in the most rollercoaster it is dark and you cannot see how high you are. But with lights on and walking on the tracks or sth like this.... no way.
I have been evacuated on PoTC and on Phantom Manor. PoTC was funny, because the CMs weared some big elastic trousers and walked with them through the water and carried the boat to the next evacuation exit. In my case it were the stairs right before the bridge before the scene where the dog an the dunkey is. We walked up stairs and went behind PoTC. Very exciting!
Scary was the evacuation in Phantom Manor. We gut stucked in the Madame Leota room, stayed there about 30 minutes and then CMs came, lifted the bars on every doom buggie by hand and went with small groups of people to the next exit. I nearly got a heart attack as the first bride looked around the corner. Every audio animatronic was still on! The CMs were very nice and told everyone "They are just robots". But everyone was scared to go so near them. It was exciting, but very scary.
Next week I will go to DLP again. Hopefully everything works.
Sorry my english mistakes. I am from Germany and school lessons are long ago.
cahaya
@cahays: your english is good, i can understand every single word :D/
wow i never want to get rescued or evecuated, i actually even don't want to get stuck.
i don't know why, maybe it's interesting, but i would only be nervous and would lose too much time

being afraid of heights too i think the worst would be the TOT i can just imagine having a cm ask me to get up while the elevator is up there at the part where u can like see the whole park
Thought I'd revive this topic as we were evacuated from Peter Pan during our trip this week. It originally stopped with us next to one of the platforms, lights on, for about 5 minutes. They then managed to get the ride going again...for about 5 yards leaving us hovering over the Volcanoes. Fun for a while, but with a 2 and 6 year old with us once the guys in red jackets and big boots turned up we were a bit worried. They took us off using ladders which seem to be kept specially for each location but our spot meant it was quite steep going down as we were close to a wall. 2 upset boys not entirely consoled by being able to walk across London on the way out. The CMs from the attraction were good enough but we were last to get off and the boys were fairly upset by it all. Our eldest didn't want to go back on the next day but he did in the end, thankfully as our 2yo loves this ride to bits and went on it 6 times on Friday.
The last ride which I broke down on was back in June on the Tower of Terror.
At the very start of the ride, when you're slowly bought away from the entrance/exit door, we stopped.
In complete darkness the ride stood still for 10 minutes.
By that point everyone was starting to look anxiously at one another.
Then a voice came from inside the ride giving an announcement in French.
We were then bought forward to the door and exited that lift.
Then with the direction of a CM we were shown to another lift whilst the CM acted in the typical tower of terror manner.
Overall it was quite funny!
I think it added to the first time riders experience as they were all working themselves up.
hm... ive been on crushes coaster, POTC and Phantom Manor when they have broken down, never been evacuated but, it was still interesting, POTC we stopped in the middle of a lift hill! i think stoping there was the wettest i have ever gotten on this ride lols XD, crush... im not sure what stopped it but all the lights came on, for a while, it started up again though and they didnt even close the ride down! and Phantom, we stopped a few times, in a few different places, but it was a while ago (2005) so cant remember where we stopped.
ive been evacuated from SMM2 just at the launch and all i can say is sitting in the launch position at that angle for a long time is far from comfortable, was exciting though. i did get told off for taking pictures :-)

Did they erase the pictures of your camera or something?
To make people less scared to go on Rock and Roller coaster: You cannot get stuck in the loop. IF the ride is stoped by either automatic or manual e-stop the train will stop either before the loop (from 0 to 48 MPH in 2,6 sec and back to 0 in 1,2 sec, not fun i can assure you) or if you are between 48 - 60 MPH the ride will stop you in zone 3, which is the straight piece of track on top of the first hill after the loop. So nothing to worrie there!
no i got told that i couldnt take pics but that was after i had taken a few and uploaded them to facebook!! they werent to quick to see what i was doing :-)

sent u a PM :-)
ohh, could i see them please? :)

oh oh oh mee tooo! [-o< lol
We've broken down on 2 rides:
Pinocchio - we broke down in the last room and the clocks drove us mad. Luckily it was only for about 5 minutes.
Snow White - this was the worst as it was for about 20 minutes, it was really hot and it was in a really boring part of the ride where we could only see walls and the odd skeleton.

Surely it's impossible to ever stop on the loops since the loops aren't powered - the car goes round them on its own steam so to speak.
Most coasters have designated stop points and unless it's a drastic emergency, the cars ride through until these stop points.

excactly!
Got evacuated last monday in Space Mountain...
Was in the canon... No fun to get out of the train when it's loaded in the canon on the slope...

Well, actually, when you get out of the train, there's a door that connects the cannon directly with boarding/station area. So it hasn't been a very long walk for me, but I can imagine that when you get evacuated from the second lifthill, inside the mountain it can be a long walk.
The difficulty is to get out of the train when you are on the 'launch slope' in the canon. You need to grab on to something so you can't fall down. It's pretty strange, as the Cast Members are secured with a line to the side and guests need to get out of the train by themselves.
Got evacuated after 5 minutes, as it was at parks closure. Got a FastPass 101 for the next day though! :)
sounds like everyones got evacuated from SM. I'd be in total panic, scared id fall! or drop my bag somewhere!!
getting evacuated from SM must be pretty cool. Do they turn the lights on ? ive always wanted to see the thing with the lights on
Quote from: "Walts heir"getting evacuated from SM must be pretty cool. Do they turn the lights on ? ive always wanted to see the thing with the lights on
They have to turn the lights on, otherwise it's not safe to evacuacte.
true true must be pretty cool though
:)
