I've been thinking about the many changes to disneyland paris, the parades and attractions that are no longer there. Somebody has already mentioned Captain EO that was in the park in 1992, but do you remember the Indian canoes and Jules Verne adventure with 9-eye? :?:
I loved the Visionarium! My wife was never a fan of Circlevision, however I really loved the story and the film.
I never saw the Indian Canoes except on the Singalong at Disneyland Paris video!
If anyone has any photos or video I would love to see them!
I was discussing this at DLRP yesterday with my brother.
I really miss Captain Eo, I would love to see it return however I don't think that's possible anymore
I was also discussing when Pizza Plannet was an exhibition about Space Travel but he thought I was making that up!!
Anyone else remember the Peter Pan show on Captain Hook's ship? Or the gunfight above what is now the agrabah cafe?
Taking out Le Visionarium was one of the biggest mistakes ever made at Disney... and I never got to see it!
The Indian Canoes looked intersting too. Definitely better than the Pocahontas Indian Village! Does anyone know why they closed?
If these things returned one day, it would be one of the best days in DLRP's history!
Hi,
oh yes, I remember the Peter Pan Show. It was great. Mostly I miss Space Mountain De la Terre à la Lune. I loved it!!
The canoes were closed because they could only hold a small amount of people so they were too costly to run, the keelboats were cancelled for the same reason. They brought those back though when one of the steamers was unable to run and for the 15th anniversary. Its a shame the canoes were closed as they were fun, its unlikely they'll come back as they built the playground instead. I also can't remember whether i went on the bucket ride of the old mill. Can anyone tell me if they have restored this ride as i saw some pics recently that looked like they had the buckets back on and people in them?
I saw the peterpan show in adventureland when the characters used to play around the park, they should do that again, it was great cos you didn't have to wait for a set time/parade they were just everywhere having fun.
Oh the memories, I remember first hand and miss the following (attractions and shows, not effects as we would be here all night):
The photostudio where you could have old fashioned photos
Main Street Motors that had several old cars and tools
The Silhouette Studio
The Barber Shop Quartet in the barber Shop
The Pianist at Casey's Corner
The Police Saxophone group
Shoot outs in Frontierland
The Lucky Nugget Revue with real cancan dancers
The Canoes
Indian Village with guides and walk through teepees
The Indian craft shop
Explorers Club full of actors and table service
Cottonwood Creek petting zoo with wood carvers
Dueling Pirates on Adventure Isle
The Old Mill Pirouettes
Le Visionarium (my biggest loss coupled with...
Space Mountain au la terre a la Lune
Space Exhibit in Discoveryland
Space Band
Roc Shoc
Beauty and the Beast
Mulan
10th Anniversary Show (don't miss that one)
Lion King
Capt. Eo (soft spot for this one)
So, quite a history.
The Adventureland Bazaar where they made
I remember Le Visonarium really well ,it was a fantastic unique attraction that fitted perfectly with the idea for Discoveryland ,used to do it on every trip without fail !! I wonder what ever happened to the "space/time travel craft" that was on display outside the entrance ?
And have very fond memories of everything on Davewasbaloo's list ,the first few years of the Park opening were fantastic !!!!

I'm quite sad that i never got to go in Le Visionarium :(
Sadly not, those were back in the film days where I took limited photos. I have the memories, and some of it is in the opening day special on You Tube
I still remember michael jackson at the 3d-cinema in discovery land.
and i totally agree with this one:

Is there anything left from those rides for e.g something in HISTA that would tell you Captain EO was there? or is the Indian Canoes station still there?
The loading canal of the Indian Canoes is still there, at the back of the playground. Take a walk through sometime, it's a really nice spot on the river.
There's probably photos on www.photosmagiques.com (http://www.photosmagiques.com)
Oh Yes I remember and I don´t like it that DLP close a old attraction like Capitain EO for HISTA or the Visionarium from Jules Verne for Buzz Lightyear.
I regret not being able to experience Le Visionarium :(
Hopefully we will be getting back a lot of the original effects the park had at opening! [-o<
:pluto: The Beauty And the Beast show was the best I've seen, it was fantastic :D .

Oh yes, me too!! It was really good. The Be Our Guest number was brilliant.
i remember when I first went to DLRP they had guys doing characturetures and when I went last didnt see them there
It was in the main park near the castle

oh, I LOVED that... I wish they'd bring it back...

That was absolute fantastic!
I remember the Bazar in Adventureland, where they had people from the origin countries who made typical handmade things, like leather shoes or dishes. shopping there was like being on a real bazar, the air was filled with spices and a group of African people played the bongos and made the visitors dance!

They still do the same show in Disney's Hollywood Studios. :)
Do you remember when Disneyland Park was just amazing:D ......and Stitch wasn't even thought of....oh the good times :P......bring them back [-o< [-o<

I've just updated the Pocahontas Indian Village album with new photos, including of the old loading canal:

its amazing some of the areas you dont notice when you go to DLRP! Don't recall seeing this area lol
That picture of the loading canal brings back memories. I was actually stood in the far bottom corner feeding bread to the ducks on my February trip, just when out from the opposite side of the canal came that beautiful Heron, which I managed to capture.. :D

It would be so cool to see the canoes return one day, I didn't realise that you could actually travel all around the Rivers Of The Far West. There's a picture of them in the Walt Disney Imagineering book - they looked awesome!
Why did they close down anyway?
In 2000 I was for the first time at DLRP and there was a very nice parade with a very catchy music. I think the parade was called IMAGINATIONS, but I'm not sure.
I just wanted to know what happened to this parade and for how long did it stay in Paris? Was the parade designed for Paris, or did it come from Disneyland Anaheim, Tokyo or WDW?

That was our first time in DLRP too, and the parade was great, my eldest daughter got to dance in it too. I have the music on CD somewhere.

Too many CMs, too little capacity, too many safety issues?
I'm not sure I'd want to put my life (or at least my dry clothes) in the hands of other DLRP guests...

Yes, you are right. The parade in 2000 was called the Imaginations Parade. It was the one with the giant floats, aith one of the Fab Five Characters and a Continent for each float. The music was called 'All Around the World', and the whole parade was unique to DLRP. It was only there for one year because of low guest satisfaction. The year afterwards they brought back the Wonderful World of Disney Parade. :)
Butlin is quite right, such a shame Imaginations only lasted a year, it was (and still is) my all time favourite DLRP parade. I loved everything about it, the music, the floats, everything!
I'm guessing most of the floats would have been demolished by now, killing any chance of a surprise comeback :( :P

I do wonder about whether there were cultural and language issues. There was a really cool rapids bit you paddled through between BTM and the waterfall.
For Canoe fans, you can still paddle in California and Tokyo.
Thanks for posting that picture of the old canoe loading dock Kristof, I've never seen that before! Would be so cool if that attraction was still running today... [-o<

I totally agree with you on that one, I think instead of having all these parties maybe for a celebration that the guest could decide on dlrp website for a ride to return that was in dlrp but was removed. A ride that can easily be rebuilt e.g canoes. I would also love to see the fights in frontierland :D
Quote from: "CentralPlazaPerson"Quote from: "luke85"I would also love to see the fights in frontierland :D
Me too, I fondly remember when the characters were but a small part of the entertainment on offer.
I think it all changed when WDS came to the park. WDS got more the spotlight and rides in DLP failed to gain visitors.
Thanks for your answers!!
It's a little bit sad that the IMAGINATIONS parade will not return anymore. I really liked it, although I have to say that my favorite parade was the Wonderful World of Disney Parade.
