i only know the stories about river country.  there are a few stories.

1. the water was infected by dangerous bacteria from bay lake so had to close on health and safety grounds.

2. the whole structure was built as a temporary structure which then became permanent, it had constant yearly rehabs but became dangerous and wasn't able to be patched up any more.  it was also to dangerous to be pulled down so just has to stay and rot.

3. blizzard beach and typhoon lagoon get higher crowds and so it wasn't worth the running costs of rc.

i don't know which of these stories is true - if any??? i'm really sad about it as rc was our favourite waterpark. here is a link to a site that shows what river country looks like now.
