Title: Disney's Easter Weekend 2006
Post by: Kristof on March 02, 2006, 12:07:01 AM
Easter will be celebrated this year during 3 days in Main Street: 14, 15, 16 April 2006.

Two Kids Carnival-style shows are planned:

Spring in the Air
Invite yourself to Alice's all-singing, all-dancing springtime festivities then celebrate your Happy Un-birthday with the wacky Mad Hatter himself!
10h00, 10h45, 11h30, 12h15, 14h15 and 15h00 at Town Square

Music in Wonderland
The Queen of Hearts, the White Rabbit and all their Wonderland chums take to the stage accompanied by a jovially jaunty band.
10h20, 11h05, 11h50, 12h35 and 14.35 at Town Square

Where has this info appeared from?

It's strange that they aren't advertising it at all...  What's the point in putting on these shows if they don't tell people about them?

Oh right, cheers!

It's really, really weird that they're putting on these shows for just 3 days, don't you think?  Maybe it's to attract some crowds away from the big attractions for a while, since the park will probably be full to bursting on that weekend...

The first decorations have now appeared on Town Square: http://www.jourifromparis.nl/index.php? ... ticleid=20 (http://www.jourifromparis.nl/index.php?categoryid=10&p2_articleid=20)

They've re-used last year's rabbits and "Easter Village" signs, plus the giant Easter Egg is back next to the gazebo like it was in 2004.  The playing cards seem to be new.

It's a shame to see they pulled up all the nice green grass that was there a few days ago to do this.  I hope they put it back or put some nice colourful flowers in there...

It's also weird that the rabbits aren't pointing anywhere this year.  They were made last year to point towards the Easter Village in Fantasyland, but this year it seems they're just randomly pointing at locations around Main Street.

I think Easter fits perfectly into a Sprintime Main Street or an Alice In Wonderland Fantasyland. I loved the 2004 atmosphere with the Victorian dancers, so I hope they return.

I'm also glad that the festival has got more of a focal point once again, rather than being spread out all over the place. As for the sign, the "Easter" or "Paques" bit looks terrible. The frame around the words even put me off last year (saying Easter Village), although the flowery design looks fun and colorful to me. I hope this weekend is a big enough sucess to see Easter return for at least a week next year!

:D It looks great, don't you think?  I'm impressed how much effort they've gone to for just a few days of events...

the show is a shorter version of the show of last year in Festival Stage: Alice and the flowers and some Main Street citizens who sing: I'm walking right down the middle....

Thank you!

I'm really impressed that they've used all the stuff from last year's show again, especially the cool Victorian dancers!  They should have streetmosphere in Main Street more often.

The decorations look great too (apart from the Paques sign, as Kris said earlier, and the ugly & hard to read "Programme" board).  It's a shame they didn't do this for more than 3 days, it seems like a bit of a waste of such a good concept.

Here's a really good video of "Spring In The Air":

from: http://www.jourifromparis.nl/index.php? ... ticleid=31 (http://www.jourifromparis.nl/index.php?categoryid=10&p2_articleid=31)

It looks like a really good show for such a small event.  What does everyone else think about the weekend's entertainment?

I'm definately impressed wonderful pics and nice video I'm really impressed they still had a show even though it was just for a weekend.  I love the music used makes it seem even more magical especially since parts are both English and French.  I just wish they would have a opening ceremony there every morning with the good morning song would make a day in DLP even more magical.  The decorations also look really nice and over all I'm just absolutely impressed with this idea they have created, I just hope it still happens next year really want to see it in person.

Though it is a basic show, I think it was really quite good for a 3 day thing!

It would be so brilliant if there was a Good morning Main Street event every morning.

The team who brought us that show, are the ones who do the seasonal events like Carnival, Belle's Musical Melody and The Fairytale Ceremony. Most of the time they are rehersing for different events, so perhaps they could come out and give us a dance at 10am and then go back and learn some more dancing? They could call it their break!

Maybe not, but it would add another dimention to Main Street, you have the car's and horses, but why do the citizens only ever come out at Easter ?!?  :?

At WDW's Magic Kingdom there's an opening celebration with the citizens of Main Street USA.  And there's streetmosphere during the day with the same people.

Once Tower of Terror has opened, WDS won't need such a large entertainment budget, and so I hope they begin to use some of it for Main Street.  Just having a single pair of characters out during the day would make a big difference.  I'd also like to see more random characters out in Main Street, since on my last two visits I've not liked the fact that they seem to almost only be available to see at the set meet 'n' green times/places.

Maybe next year we'll get a proper Easter festival again?  If Winnie the Pooh is a success in his new home then they could do a special Easter version of the show and once again focus the entertainment around that area of Fantasyland.  If they wanted to do an Alice In Wonderland show again, then they could use the Belle's Musical Medley area...
