Title: Summer attractions returning early (+ Keelboats!)
Post by: Kristof on February 26, 2006, 01:12:46 AM
"it is time" posted this photo on Disney Central Plaza.  Appearently, a CM was navigating one of the River Keelboats on the Rivers of the Far West.

Rumours go that the Keelboats will return together with Mark Twain for the summer season.  :D

Would be great to have these back, they look like fun thngs to ride around the Rivers of the Far West with what looks like a different thing to riding around on a big steamer.  Also it would be great if they can get these working again since they can be nice crowd eaters and Disneyland Resort Paris especially around Frontierland at certain times, Easter will need something like these to take some of the crowds away from clogging up the whole of Frontierland.

Both Mark Twain and keelboat Racoon were sailing the water yesterday without guests!  Probably training the CM's for a re-opening soon.  8)

It's really fantastic to see the old Keelboats back in service.  I've never seen them running myself, they've been closed for as long as I've been a "dlrp fan"!  :(

The fact that they're reopening an attraction that has been closed for so long, which most people thought would never operate again, shows that we've definately got good-thinking operations management back at our resort.  It's weird how much our resort mirrors DLR sometimes...

I've always read about the Keelboats, but I've never seen anything of them... It's cool to see them here "in action" ;)

It's so sad what happened to the Molly Brown... my boyfriend and I have enjoyed it so much when we were on "her" in September 2004, it was so warm and wonderful in the sun...
When we were at DLRP last October, we wondered why there wasn't a "Mummy Cruise Line" on the water.

And now Molly will never come back again, will she?!?

The Molly Brown was down because of obvious reasons and Mark Twain was still in rehab.

@ Dlrpfan: The Molly Brown burned down last May or so. Coz of the fact that she consists of very expensive wood, she cannot be "repariert" again.

Well the Molly Brown didn't burned down, lol.  There's fire damage on the upper deck, but the boat can't be used yet.  The fire was caused by a malfuction.

There were rumours that she would be destroyed, but I'm quite sure she'll be refurbed someday, maybe just to be used as a prop on the Rivers of the Far West.

@ raptor: Okay, that's what I meant, but I can't express my thoughts coz of my bad english  :P
I guess she can still be an "Ersatzteillager" for Mark Twain.

Autopia and Le Pays des Contes de Fées are open now too...

... in the rain!!

And here's the Mark Twain in service:

The top deck is closed though, but I think it's because of the rain and not the fact that they're scared about having another riverboat's engine overheat.

All the attractions are open from 11am to 6pm only.

They could use  the molly brown for Halloween as the phantom cruise line and make her into a floating scary attraction
Title:
Post by: Patrick on March 13, 2006, 06:57:38 PM
The Phantom Cruise Line has always been Mark Twain and I can now see why, just look at how beautiful the ship is :D .  It's wonderful to see it sailing again and also nice to see Autopia, Storybookland and casey Junior back, how wonderful makes me even more excited about my upcoming visit :D , how many times will my upcoming visit be mentioned in my posts  .

Title:
Post by: Kristof on March 13, 2006, 07:33:45 PM
There are 2 keelboats: The Coyote and the Raccoon.

The canoes were removed in 1993, a year after the opening.  The loading dock has been rebuild into the Pocahontas Indian Village.

Aaawww... Autopia!!

I've got a question which I hope someone can answer:

Last October Autopia was closed. Does anyone know when Autopia is closed (in which seasons)? I've never been on Autopia, but I want it so much :(

And what about Casey Jr./Le Pays de Contes de Fées? It was closed last October, too. Is it always closed in the Halloween/winter season?!

Any news from the Keelboats (Kinoo?)
Title:

There are currently green construction fences around the former Keelboats loading dock.  I got the chance to... wel... sneakpeek behind them and get a few photos (which I will not post online). I compared them at home with some elder photos.  And guess what...

The dock and building are actually being refurbed, more importanly, this sign has been repainted with bright white letters!  :D

From what i heard, a photolocation with Pocahontas is considered for the Keelboats area to dybnamise the zone.

Really?? With Pocahontas as Character?? That would be so great, I love Pocahontas  :D I've already a photo next to Meeko--aw, I love him, too

Wow.. "the Karl Holz effect" is getting better and better by the day!  :o A rehab of the keelboats dock and some new life in Frontierland with a photo location? Great!  That area has always been soooo dead in recent years.

But the area has also been wonderfully peaceful... I loved sitting there at Poca's Village with a good book in my hands, maybe doing some people watching... a riverboat passing by every couple of minutes... Big Thunder in the back... kids playing... and lots of ducks. It's one of my favourite spots!  :)

I've never really sat and watched the world go by in a Disney park yet. Any particular book that goes well with the surroundings? I'm always too busy having fun or screaming (as if).

Yeah, that's something typical for American parks, to have "controled" photo locations (with queue lines) everywhere.

yep everytime you see a character there is allways a orderly que line with cast members watching at all times

I certainly don't mind - though these spots have been appearing faster than you can say "budget cut" lately...

Anything by Twain would be the obvious choice.

Though I prefer something darker and / or erotic ... I just enjoy the irony of what I'm reading and where I'm reading it.

Well... I remember reading "Lady Chatterley's Lover" (didn't leave too much of an impression), "The Hound of Baskerville", a few books by Nick Hornby and Arthur Schnitzler's "Dream Story" (a very good, very intense novel.)

The bad news is: they are mistaken. Don't be too happy cos you'll be disappointed. They printed before any confirmations relaeses.

Ahh cool, so the sign's now in place if they ever do decide to open it.  :D

Why exactly aren't they opening it this year?  Too expensive, too many CMs needed?  :?
