When I first joined this great Forum, I remember I started a thread based on asking what the different buildings were around the resort. From this topic I learned a lot about the purpose of these buildings.
Unfortunately all the images were lost, so I thought I would refresh the topic again using a more reliable image system.
I've included below an area of buildings already discovered from the older thread. I think I can remember where most of them are. A lot was gained from members and mainly Kristof for confirmations on this one. If I've made any mistakes please let me know>>
A. Casey Jones maintenance buildings.
B. Greenery buildings.
C. Parades and Spectacles buildings.
D. Entertainment training area.
E. Control Room for Parades, also 'Le Studio' music production for DLRP.
F. It's a Small World attraction building.
G. DLRP Christmas tree storage containers.
H. Le Pavilion convention building.

Also this one>>
I. Filtration Reservoir for 'It's a Small World'.
J. Cast Member car park.
K. Public car and coach park.

Here's the DLRP Police Station, the expanded view first to give you more of a location, then a closeup view. Not sure what's happening on the right mind.. :?

Anyway, here goes.....First of all, can anyone tell me what these buildings are.... :?:
The first image is an expanded view of the location, so that you know where exactly they are located within the ring, and the second is a closer view of the buildings shown on the first image.

I think they are maintenance buildings, but someone else might have to confirm that.
All I know is that the trains from Rock 'n' Roller Coaster go there for rehab. :P
The buildings on the close-up picture are warehouses (like for food and merchandise deliveries), maintenance facilities (the one on the upper right houses DLRP's various vehicles, for example) and some offices, of course.
The smaller building with the green roof on the upper right is DLRP's "pony farm", by the way. That's the home for the proud Percheron horses when they're not on duty for the streetcars on Main Streets.
I think in these buildings is the Euro Disney SCA headquarter.
Ok....Thanks for the comments guys.. :D
I'm guessing Kristof never got back to you with the answers last year then :P
Anyway i don't have a clue what the "missing" buildings are, so i'm just as interested what each one is as Javey. However i think i heard somewhere that each off stage building is names after Disney characters (Peter Pan etc..), is this ture?

No, I think the plans have gone for ever now breeno..
On the building names, I heard that too, I sure it was from something I read, probably online.. :) We shalt see, hopefully with some confirmation.. [-o< :D
Somewhere at home I have a castmembers map.
I will have a look and post any info tonight!

Yes! I think Baloo and Mulan are (or have been) at least two of the names, but I think I remember from seeing an old CM map once that each of those buildings above is actually split up into smaller named sections.
I'm interested to find this stuff out myself. I could point out almost any other building around the resort, but not these ones over in the far corner. I guess that's the because the ones we hear about most are the "regular CM" ones like ImagiNations and the parade buildings.
You can get a very quick glimpse inside the main warehouse in the old Inside Disneyland Paris travel channel documentary.
Good topic! It makes me feel like updating the Google Earth file for DLRP Magic! again. :D Would Disney mind if their backstage buildings got pointed out on Google Earth?

I'll have a look on Youtube on this one, well if it's on there... :o Thanks for that one Anthony.. :D

Well Remko K, I don't think DLRP will mind, after all we don't get to see inside them, well not the ones your not supposed to anyway. But at least just knowing the location can give you piece of mind to see how it all comes together, how the resort functions with all the suppliers and other areas essential to keep the resort running.. :D/ :D/
Sorry, Javey, completely forgot! (Was thoroughly enjoying watching Wall E)
Will do tonight

I wait with great anticipation.. :o :o :o
Well, I found the map! All it gives is the building names and locations of restaurants and facilities. Also orientation and office phone numbers.
Because of the confidential nature of some of the info I will not scan and post it here.
No problem ford perfect..
Thanks again.. :D
I should have further updates on the nicknames of the buildings soon.. :D
Okee Doe kee......This is what I've come to learn..
As previously mentioned, Disney give most backstage buildings nicknames taken from Disney characters. Here are some images of the buildings taken from Google Earth. As you can see I've added their nicknames, which I've managed to put together, with a lot of data support from another very kind and helpful member. Clearance has also been granted from our Admin... :D/ :D/
I will give an update on the use of each of these buildings where possible, once I have collated and translated all the information I have. Bear in mind that the information is dated as 2002, but as far as the nicknames go, nothing really alters here. Though the functionality of each building might have changed from a little to a lot.. :D

I always thought Imaginations would be for costumes, hmm learn something everyday :D. I always heard it was in that area, so Peter Pan or Baloo ?
Actually Owain I thought the same as you, before I had it on good authority that it was the Mickey Mouse building instead.. :o
Funny - the map was dated 2002? I have a feeling that's my cast member map I scanned during that year :)
I have forgotten quite a few things since then, but Imaginations IS the costuming building (the one the tram tour runs through), Mickey Mouse was administrative as far as I remember, I think I had my medical in "Peter Pan", and my merchandise training was in "101 Dalmatiens", complete with an errupting Catastrophe Canyon every few minutes.
The Mickey, Peter Pan and Baloo buildings were office buildings, the other big ones were either warehouses (food and merchandise needs to come from somewhere on site mind you) or storage - I saw Christmas decorations, parade floats and other stuff in there, but never anything really exciting.

Wrong, they are kept in Simba and ImagiNations. Mickey Mouse is Castmember First Aid and Medical Service.
Baloo is EuroDisney SCA 'headquarters'.

I know ImagiNations do have costumes, at least for face characters, you pass through the side of it on the 'Studio Tram Tour'. I'm talking about the others..
Simba is for Parades and Spectacles, you can see the floats outside, ready for a parade, which way are you referring to the building for costumes, or have I mis-read what you have wrote.. :)
And how can you be so certain about EuroDisney 'headquarters' being inside 'Baloo'.. :?:

=D>
I have you know, that ImagiNations have NO entertainment costumes whatsoever! ImagiNations have costumes for castmembers outside of the Parade/Entertainment department, ie. Ride operators, Food staff, Cleaners, etc.
Also, what you see when you are on the Tram Tour is completely fake, the costumes are borrowed from Simba. The majority of show/parade/entertainment costumes are housed in Simba. Inside Simba (it is HUGE), is a float storage bay, costuming division, cosmetology department (makeup/wigs), dance studios and changing rooms.
I think there is a bit of a misunderstanding going on here, Imaginations is of course not completely fake, as almost everyone is borrowing their costumes there. And if you look closely from the tram tour, you can almost look through to the lockers.
The ENTERTAINMENT costumes are elsewhere, and as I have no idea where, Simba sounds perfectly reasonable.
ugh, i roll my eyes to you all!
Okay, to clear it all up for you guys.
I never said ImagiNations was fake!
The view from the Tram Tour is through the back window of the costuming devision of ImagiNations, made especially for the attraction. The costumes in the window and the window setup is FAKE and do not belong to ImagiNations. As I said, ImagiNations ONLY stores costumes for park staff not entertainment.
Yes you can see the lockers, but you wont spot any secret disney magic. Its very boring I'm afraid. Simba is where the magic is. 8)
I'm not sure whether the view from the tram tour was supposed to be *the* costuming division. And at least it's in the building where most of the costumes are.
Whether the entertainment costumes are the "really interesting" one is a different matter.

I beg to differ...
Well, Imaginations was where the food was, and that's all that mattered to me :)

Service Paie? Thats in Baloo...
Imagi food is alright i guess, but i like brioche mainstreet mmmmm.

There are Service Paie offices on the 2nd floor of Imaginations... I had some dealings with them, like getting my bus ticket reimboursed, giving new bank account information etc.
I used to prefer Brioche Main Street, too. Though it's a bit more expensive than the former Ritazza (what's it called now) at Imma...
I know one of them has to be the office where the reservation department for the hotels and customer service are...
Smurfy rang them the other day and asked where they were based and they said behind Woodys round up village, which if I looked at the map right is where these buildings are located
Edit: Managed to miss page 2 and 3 of the conversation so please ignore if already mentioned lol
That's nice of them to actually just answer that question instead of beating around the bush :)
And I got my paycheck from Imaginations as well, which wasn't that easy considering that my French was very, shall we say, basic. I sometimes wonder how I did it.
Unfortunately, I missed the days of the backstage McDonald's - that did exist, didn't it?
Overall, I found the food at DLP better than I expected, but not quite as good as at Epcot - we had a backstage Subways, which was perfect. And on the way back from the Odyssey (in full German costume, past Mexico, Norway and China - good bless the World Showcase), CMs could constantly be seen carrying Subway bags, with guests staring and also wanting CHEAP FOOD.
Hehe. Always thought someone would get into trouble for that, but no one cared. And China had their own backhand backstage business going on, offering cheap takeaway to CMs. Again, there was a surprising number of CMs in all kinds of costumes invading the Chinese pavillion at around lunch time, and everyone wondered why the came. Those were the days...

Thanks for sharing that bit of nostalgia Quark... :D
Hehe. I sometimes get carried away - ah, the memories. :P
Quote from: "Quark"Unfortunately, I missed the days of the backstage McDonald's - that did exist, didn't it?
Yes. I used to eat there back in 2001 from time to time. After McDonald's pulled out, Brioche Dorée moved in.
QuoteOverall, I found the food at DLP better than I expected, but not quite as good as at Epcot - we had a backstage Subways, which was perfect.
Good for you. I found the food at and around the MK worse than DLRP's. It lacked variety, and even though the backstage Subways was cool I am just not sold on the quality of their sandwiches. Don't like them at all, to be frank. Also, I found the cafeteria food at WDW much more expensive than at DLP (almost twice as much!). After two months in Florida, I actually missed Imaginations...
Hm - I guess the variety of the World Showcase made the difference. Not only did we sometimes steal food from our own (German) buffet (or were allowed to eat from it by our managers), we also had a small cafeteria at the American Adventure, said Subway plus regular cafeteria food at the Odyssey (I had never been to Subway's until then, maybe I liked it more because of that) and the side businesses that the Chinese and Mexican pavillions were running. So lots of choice - and we ended up slipping out of our costumes and going to one of the other pavilions as regular guests after our shifts quite often. Especially with the myriad of Christmas vouchers everyone had. I think I was only the one losing weight while there, probably because I was quite chunky to begin with :)
In contrast, at DLRP I had the choice between Pasta and Steak Haché, or my trusted tuna sandwich. That was about it. Having said that, food was really cheap in Paris, which kind of surprised me.
I haven't forgotten, it just takes a lot of time..
I will get around to the building names and activities as mentioned from the start of this thread..
Going back to the first page, is that water area really a filtration lake for IASW?
Im not saying its not, it just looks massive, and rather murky!
Quote from: "penfold12"Going back to the first page, is that water area really a filtration lake for IASW?

Apparantly so, but I don't think the water you see has been filtered, I think it's excess that can be used for filtration as part of the attraction itself. It's these finer points that need more finite answers.. :D
the reason I asked is because on those photos, it looked like a "natural pool" rather than the water in IASW that you can see through! LOL

Well im not sure that it is a filtration lake...if it were..then wheres the lake for pirates??
The lake in my opinion is just a water storage facility, the filtration units would be more near or under the IASW attraction itself. The lake would be just an extra external feeder for the filtration systems, where more water is required..

yes its the character express coming off the service route back to the high bay (float storage ajoining the parade building), and the halloween pre-parade followed by DOUD is about the enter the service route.
