The controversial refurbishment of "it's a small world" will be completed for a November 21, 2008 opening. The refurbished attraction, besides the newly enlarged floating boats and channel, will include Disney characters akin to that at Hong Kong. The attraction will open in the "it's a small world holiday" layover, returning to the regular layout on January 31st.

The rain forest scene at the original it's a small world is being replaced with a Salute to America. The reports are that it is being held back behind curtains until the holiday overlay is removed after January 4th, as will the new hidden Disney characters throughout the attraction.
