According to an article on Newsparcs will Armageddon be replaced after the opening of Tower of Terror. Mostly due to technical problems and low guest satisfaction. It should be replaced my something similar with fire.
What are your thoughts about this?
I'm not sure what to think. Let's say they do decide to replace it - it's such a tiny, tiny building that they can't really do anything *that* amazing with it, can they? All they could do is put in something very similar but perhaps with higher capacity and better effects. They could get rid of Café des Cascadeurs and expand the attraction out in that direction, but I'm not sure if that'd work.
I think a Mission 2-style redesign is what the attraction needs. They shouldn't put a whole new attraction there, it isn't worth the amount of money it would cost for what would still be such a small attraction. The Armageddon name is also still very well known and they should make the most of it. I wouldn't mind them increasing capacity and adding a new, extra special effects room - they could call it "Armageddon: *enter title here*". If they design the backstage of ToT (the power station which the attraction needs could be in the way) with this in mind, an extra SFX room could be added at the back of the attraction. Even just a duplicate room of the existing one would be great since it'd double capacity!
The problem with Armageddon though, I think, is that it was never really meant to be a mind-blowing E-Ticket attraction. It's a C/D Ticket that has had to be bumped up in status due to the fact that the park has so few attractions. If there were more attractions in the park then it wouldn't have had so much pressure put on it to be successful. I feel sorry for Armageddon: SFX, I really do, but overall it's still not even a hundreth as good as it could be.
If they do decide to do something major with the attraction, then great - it'll be an even bigger sign than Toon Studios and ToT that the management really want to make the park the best it can be. Money and space are still major problems though...
Good idea as it has bad reviews
I read somewhere that it was being replaced by a Narnia walk-through?
Really? I thought that Disney cut all their ties with Narnia.

Yeah, really. I think it was either on this forum or somewhere on the internet.
And why did Disney stop working with the Narnia people?
Blimey, yes that rumour was a while ago, after Prince Caspian but before they realised it's box office sales weren't as good as Disney would have liked I think.
I would be glad to see it gone, as long as they replaced it with something decent and not another meet and greet as seems to be the way things are going these days. I've not experienced it for years as it really is a huge let down once you are inside. I wonder if they could keep the spaceship setting and maybe brand to something like WALL-E?
Good idea Steve! I went in last year but only 'cos my American friend wanted to experience it. Other than that I never go in.
I think I must be one of the very few people who love Armageddon. But then I am one of the very few who love Backdraft and Twister at Universal too. Or the Temple of Fire at Port Aventura.

Same here! How ever I would love the Muppets making a come back in Europe and that could be a very cool location!
Are they going to replace Armageddon for the 20th anniversary?
I doubt it. I don't think Disney have officially said they're going to replace it, other than would like to, maybe. I still like Armageddon but I'm not keen on the pre-show, a lot depends on the CM.

No clues so far. Than again the "Armagedoon replacement" has been a rumour for years now. Just glad it hadnt become the Narnia Walk trough. The one at DHS is probably the worst around that park.
I am a massive fan of Armageddon and would be very sad to see it go. Yes you probably only want to see it once a trip because the intro is cringe-worthy - but the effects you get to see, hear and feel SO CLOSE-UP... are astounding!
Comparing it to the Doctor Who Experience's "Tardis" section, BBC could have tried a lot harder!
I also liked Armaggedon when I went last month. I think they should just change the pre-show.

The pre-show ruins the complete experience, in my opinion :')
But my whole family (including my grandparents) LOVED it when we 'rode' it and I'll definitely visit it again next time!

I totally agree with you, JelleP :)
However, when I was there, the cast-member did an amazing job trying to make that awful pre-show something fun. I can´t say he made it better, but he really tried the best he could. :D
If they change the pre-show, this attraction would be a lot better. I really like it. Also the castmember we had last time was really enthusiastic and made the whole experience great!
The pre-show is also mostly in french, and if you can't speak the language it doesn't help. I saw it once with an english speaking CM which was a lot better for me and more entertaining. I do like the attraction, but the thought of the pre-show does put me off.
Just had a thought on this one, what with the Narnia phase of Disney done and we're pretending that it never really happened, would we be possibly looking at getting a version of the newly opened 'The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow' attraction which has just opened in WDS' Orlando sister park?
I'm pretty certain that it's only a playtest style attraction for the Singapore version of Pirates, but a quick adaption of Armageddon, some enhancements such as some animatronic additions (moving treasure chest/falling boulders/cannons etc), some 4D effects, and less interaction would lead to a lovely C-Ticket attraction which could be used to bolster up the 2nd year of the 20th Anniversary!
Spoiler Video of the Attraction:

WDI developed a similar attraction based on The Chronicles of Narnia which should have replaced Armageddon in 2008-2009. However when Disney cut all ties with the Narnia franchise, the plans fell through. I wouldn't be surprised if this attraction, or something similar (perhaps based on Marvel?) would make it's way inside Soundstage 7.
that pirates attraction looks quite fun :-)
I like Armageddon the way it is- not every ride has to be AAA and everyone needs to have a AAA rollercoaster to be thrilled. The vacuum effect soaking out the air of the station is quite cool ;-)
@InsideDLParis "Some theming/carts have been taken away from Backlot in preperation of New Years Eve aswell"
It seems very likely the area will get a re-design sometime in the future.

I've always thought that Armageddon was a bit of crud attraction. But now I've been to Florida, I think I may take that back. It is better than ALL of the special effects attractions at Universal Studios!
And for the record , Honey I Shrunk the Audience also jumped up in my books too, as there was a lot of 4D crap in Orlando as well.
I heard a rumor that a Spiderman experience was replacing it .. not sure how that would work xD
I would love for the Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow to come to the studios! I don't like Armageddon at all to be honest.

I agree, a Wall-e attraction would have so much more potential. Armageddon was completely disappointing, I've only done it once.
Marvel is highly unlikely to happy as Universal still own the rights to use Marvel within their theme parks.
I think the Monsters Inc Scare Floor or something like the Nemo Aquarium would be good.

No, Universal owns the the themepark rights in Florida. Disney is free to use the brand anywhere outside Florida.
I don't think the Pixar characters will fit in Backlot, which will be heavily Marvel themed in the (far) future anyway.
Ah OK, that I didn't know. I know the buying back of Spiderman from Sony is taking more time than they hoped.
