Im so unbelivably excited about going to Disneyland again this Summer and was just wandering at what point does the magic start for you! In my oppinion.... it sounds weird but its when you go under the Disneyland hotel and you can hear the Mainstreet music and are about to put ure ticket in the machine :D I also get shivers down my spine when I hear the ticking clock from Small World and the different interpretations of the theme song outside the ride. I always forget how annoying the ticking is!
Offcourse nothing can beat actualling being at the resort itself. But I also enjoy listening to Disneyland music while browsing the internet for news, pictures and video's of the park. Or reading From Sketch to reality...all those things give me that Disney Magic when I'm not able to be at the Resort itself. But when I actually do get to visit the Resort, the Magic starts right after we enter Disney property by car. You notice that right away as the greenery alongside the roads is obviously taken good care of. And then in the distance you see the pink facade of the Disneyland hotel (preferably with the sun hitting it and a blue sky above it ;) ). Nothing can beat that :)
Or, when you arrive by TGV/RER, the moment you enrer the trainstation and see the spires of the Disneyland Hotel.
I don't nessicarily need to be in the Parks to feel the Disney Magic. Just hanging around at the Hotels, Disney Village etc. is enough. Just BEING there, is quite enough for me ;)
on the newer RER's with the route maps and light up stations, the lights going out one by one.
Also as the RER pulls into the station you can look up the verge and see the Tower of Terror. Just knowing you're close gets me excited
:hello:
As soon as I step foot on eurostar (Or rarely the plane ) then I just start smiling :) and saying hello to everyone and smiling :) and, well just smiling :)
The holiday has started and I'm ready for the all magic that will be coming my way =D> :D/
Epcot_Boy :ears:
I think the most magical part for me is driving under the main gates, and going along those escalator things. I get all these butterflies, and I just can't wait to get there! Just the music gets me all excited!
For me it's on the approach to the entrance below the DLH, once through to Main Street it's the view in the distance, the SB Castle. :D
It's funny though that charliegal should mention the ticking clock of IASW, that also gives me shivers when I first hear it, not sure why, whether it's the size of the facade or knowing what's inside there, with the clock just giving you the incling of where you're heading...
Stepping out of my own door and KNOW that when i get in my car that i will be in Disney within 6 hours.....
Just that thought itself gives me goosebumps!
Entering Main street, hearing the lovely sounds, smelling that delicious smells all over the place....ohmen...missing tha place already SO much
this may sound silly but for me its soon as i book it, the excitment ofcounting the days, the look on matthews face when he finally realises that hes going back, even paying for it its all makes it magical as i know sooner than you think its going to be here im getting on a train, im going to a hotel, im getting on eurostar omg im here im here im here. its all magical to me
Always travel on Eurostar and the magic moment for me is as you pull into the station and you get that first glimpse of SM:M2. You know you have arrived.
Then of course every morning when I open the curtains in hotel NY and look out over lake Disney.
Mine is when you touch down in CDG airport, for me thats when the magic starts, i've always liked the CDG airport (don't know why being that alot of people thinks it ugly but i love that terminal with all those stair lifts, we're arriving there this year for the first time since a few years :D :P ) and knowing that now your just a coach ride away from DLRP is just a great feeling, but walking through the hotel doors is a great feeling for me, walking in there means "here we are, DLRP".
And in just 10 days i shall be reliving the above moments :D/
Mine's when I set off! I get excited and turn into a little kid :D Even though this time I have to get up at 5am!!!! I still will be bouncing around!
I get excited from the minute I get in the car to go to the airport (usually with Disney's Greatest Hits on the CD player!)... Then when I get there it's just seeing the Disneyland Hotel and the park entrance that gives me butterflies, and I know that for the next few days I can just forget all my worries and responsibilities and be a kid again without a care in the world.... 3 weeks on Thursday! :D/
We normally drive to DLRP, so for me the magic starts when we drive past the first sign in the motorway (with Mickey :D )... Then when I see the Panoramagique balloon I start getting really excited (if I wasn't in the car I would be jumping up and down), but then once we exit the motorway, and we start the drive up to the park, with the Disneyland Hotel in the distance, the ToT to the left, and the Newport Bay to the right... Well I'm a kid again. I start giggling like a mad person and clapping my hands... Unless I'm driving - which I try to avoid at that point because I'm too excited about what's coming to pay any attention to the cars around me....
Yes, for me it would have to be as soon as I board the shuttle bus. I am a terrible flyer, I can't stand travelling on an aeroplane so that's the only bit I hate - my family don't like travelling by Eurostar or anything else (sad, I know :P).
I love the atmosphere down Main Street USA, it really is magical. I love to take a photo of the castle from that viewpoint. I also feel quite magical when I play disney's music on the piano or read a fabulous book I bought at the resort titled 'Imagineering'. I really would reccomend it, it's great! :D
dlrp-mad :mickey2:
I start getting excited from the second we book our trips to DLRP. In fact, I'm excited pretty much all the time because I'm anticipating my next trip, even if it's not booked.
But I get really excited when we pass through CDG on the Eurostar - It's at that point I know I'm within 10 minutes of the resort! I then look out the windows of the train and focus on the hills in the background looking for Tower Of Terror.
Then I get off the train at Marne-La-Vallee Chessy, and I hear the sound of "Just Like We Dreamed It" playing in the station. I get a sudden burst of excitement and I'm usually the first one up the escalators and out of the station! :P
Quote from: "RnRCj"I start getting excited from the second we book our trips to DLRP. In fact, I'm excited pretty much all the time because I'm anticipating my next trip, even if it's not booked.
see im not the only one!!!
for me it has to be as soon as we come back from our last trip, as at the start of the trip (last one was november) we say this will be the last time at DLRP and then think about going else where for a hoilday :-" , but we have such a good time and fall in love with disney that as soon as we get home we are planning are next trip, we go again next october (2009) and yet we already have planned where we are eating (sad i know but it helps it keep that much closer, lol :D/ )
As we always get the bus from the airport,it is when we first spot the park in the distance ! Used to be the castle and BTM but now HTH really stands out on the horizon !!
Hey I'm always feeling magical
For me the magical feeling really hits me when i get off the Eurostar and hear the Disney music, it actually makes me want to cry knowing that im back home.
As soon as the planning starts for the holiday :D
Quote from: "Owain"As soon as the planning starts for the holiday :D
Yes!!!!! :D/
Looking, what will be our next hotel...
Listen to some Disneyland Music...
Planning which season...
And celebrating the booking-moment
I can agree with all the above posts.
I am excited as soon as I think about booking my next visit.
But the moment that really gets us all in my family (6 of us aged from 10 - 65) is when we walk under the main street station - none of us say anything we just keep our head down until we are out from under the station then we all look up at the castle/main street.
Usually we see the Christmas Tree first, cos we usually visit in December but then after a while ...................
we can;t see anything at all - the tears block the view.
Cant wait until 8th December when we return again!!! :santa:
I first feel the magic when ....
:mickey2: getting the newest brochure from Disneyland Resort Paris!
:mickey2: I get the go ahead from the b/f to book another holiday lol
:mickey2:from the second I go on the website and hear the music!
:mickey2:when I phone up to book and the CM says have a magical day!
:mickey2:all the planning,
:mickey2:the countdown that starts the day I book (5 MONTHS EXACTICALLY TO GO NOW!!!!)
:mickey2:looking on youtube, watching Candelabration in anticpation of seeing it,
:mickey2:packing our suitcases! normally about a month in advance
:mickey2:The first glimpse of anything Disney related (the shuttle bus from the airport)
:mickey2:The disney sign on the side of the road!
:mickey2:The first glimpse of Sleeping Beauty's castle, space mountain, tot.
:mickey2:arriving at our hotel and checking in!
:mickey2:seeing the hotel room for the first time, and not hanging around lol no time to unpack, have a shower etc
:mickey2:walking through the DV (especially early in the morning before anything is open)
:mickey2:Walking towards fantasia garden and the disneyland hotel,
:mickey2:getting your bag searched, bit of a strange one but you know your beeing looked after, and they normally get to know me pretty quickly and the morning joke of "oh your bag makes the detector bleep" lol (soooo many electricals, camera, camcorder etc)
:mickey2:putting you pass into the ticket machines! knowing your just steps away from magic!
:mickey2:Main street station, knowing its the only thing blocking your view of the castle,
:mickey2:walking under the station, knowing your only seconds away ....
:mickey2:your first (of many) times you lay your eyes on the castle, be it your first time or your 100th, it never fails to make me shed tears of joy
:mickey2:taking that first photo, though the tears lol
I LOVE IT AND I'M ADDICTED!!!!! DEC 8th CAN@T COME QUICK ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!
I can agree with all that.
I noticed you can't wait for the 8th December too, where are you staying. We are returning to the Sequioa Lodge cos it feels really Christmassy! :D
Yeah Sequoia too, we got a Monatana lake view (would be cheaper to go to NPBC but I had my heart set on a Christmas at Sequoia!), but we have never stayed here before, whats it like at christmas?
Edit: WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!!!!!! :cheshire_bounce:
Its amazing Clarebelle, I am just off to work now but will be back online later today. Will enlighten you more then. :)
lol thanks, I'm off to work soon too :-(

lol we do that everytime, last time I make a tex mex dinner (we were staying at Santa Fe) before that we just has to tell EVERYONE!! lol it was my first time back for many years. we havent celebrated the booking this time, (it was about a week before we wet to london to see the foos, so I suppose our meal at the rainforest cafe counts ... nah!) other than bouncing off the walls and planning as much as I can! I will have to change that!
The Sequioa Lodge Hotel at Christmas is fantastic. I have stayed at Sante Fe, Cheyenne and Newport Bay too, but I feel the Sequioa Lodge is more Christmassy.
If you imagine Bing Crosby singing White Christmas around the piano with the 2 ladies in the film, they are staying in a little stone cottage, the middle of nowhere, in the snow, it reminds me of that.
Stone walls and floors, great big open roaring log fires and lots of lights and christmas trees :D :santa:
I am sure you will love it
oooohhhhhh I really cant wait!! do you have any photos? I'm so excited!
now planning my 21st birthday! (dream castle 3 nights paris 3 nights, london 2 maybe? don't know yet) and the best bit is its my bf 21st exactically one month after (9th March and 9th April lol were freaks) so we will probably be going back again for that (cheyenne because he loves the chuck wagon  )
For me its going through the gates in Disneyland park and staring down main street.
Thats when I know I'm home :D

Yes, I know that feeling. :) Once you've entered from underneath Main Street Station, and stand there facing Main Street in bright light, there's always first a moment of disbelief... A moment thinking "Wow, am I really here??"... And then, once I see that castle, it hits me. This is known to bring on tears of joy.
But indeed, the magical feeling starts when you've booked!
I'll be going next summer. I haven't booked yet, so at the moment I'm feeling more impatient than I am feeling magical.
Hey, I think the magic starts for me when I am on the DIsney bus and looking around me to see if I can spot one of the hotels ( I nearly always see the Newport Bay first), the balloon (can't spell it's name so I won't try) or the Tower of Terror peaking out from the trees in the distance! Once I spot one of those I get so excited because I know how close I am!!:)

Two years ago, we stayed in Paris and commuted to the resort. It feels even more magical when you haven't been to the resort for a while and then go into the DLP first thing in the morning before the crowds arrive. On the DVD I filmed at the time a small, enchanted boy toddles straight into another guest, very funny =D>
I always feel magical watching that disc, it was the hottest day of the very hot summer, 40C in Paris and bright sunshine all day, (although Wishes got cancelled due to a thunderstorm). The park is so beautiful in the sunshine when hardly anyone is there.
Watching home videos, seeing RNRC from the RER or the castle and SM from the Eurostar, the introduction and breakdown parts of 'Just Like We Dreamed it', the atmosphere around the castle before fantillusion starts and of course the immersive e-ticket attractions.
When the VEA bus gets to thebottom of the entrance, and in the distance you can see the Castle. Always get that tingley feeling down my back
I remember in 1988, when I was at WDW, it was seeing Epcot for the first time. I'll never forget driving by and it just appeared right in front of me through a gap in the trees.....truly magical feeling :)
For me the magic really begins when the bus drives by the first of the old "EuroDisney"-signs with Mickey - from then on the magic is just awaiting and the excitement really begins... When I was younger it was always when the bus in the night (before arrival) showed a couple of Disney-classics (although this is still great  )
this is stupid answer to a good question but i feel it everytime i look at anything disney even stuff like this site as it just brings back all the good memory
Whenever i enter a certain land a get a magical feeling and just feel so happy. For emample when you walk into frontierland and hear the wild west music playing and in adventureland the sound of the waterfalls just little things like that build up the magic atmosphere! x
Most magical is always when I'm stood beside Belle.
I get thet magical feeling when I enter the mainstreet, and see the caastle. Feels like finally arriving home after a long, long time :D
Getting up at ridiculous times in the morning and driving in the dark to the airport, or to begin your journey down south to the ferry!
My brother and I sat and watched disney movies and chattered on about what we wanted to see till 3am last time we went, and we got up at 4! I managed to make it till about 6pm while we were in the car before I fell asleep! Good thing it wasn't far from the hotel.
Basically Iget excited just planning (or even thinking about planning) a trip - even if it's a trip that won't happen. I just love to check out hotels etc.
Then on the trip day I am excited basically first thing in the morning when we set of. I often go with my mom by train and then we spent the whole journey flipping through brochures and deciding where to eat. One we arrive and walk towards the Disney Village to our hotel I'm almost bursting from excitement. uick check-in, drop off bags to the room and off we go. And then walking again through DV towards the entrance and through it I'm sort of in a trance, it usually feels very surreal that I am there again. And as soonas I spot the castlwe I know I'm home and for a few days nothing can really bug me.
last week I did 30 pics for my signiture, to make a countdown to my visit in Sept. When I got down to 5 days to go I started getting a tingle. When I did 1 day to go, I was really excited. Pathetic, I know
I feel magical reading this site, looking at the picture. I start thinking about this and that I could be dooing the next time I will be going
And when I was there last april and we walked underneath DLH looking up mainstreet I thought: here I am again.
Going home all smiles on my face, thinking about when is the next time.
TO THE MAGIC
Aurora
18 days to go. Had 2 trail "packing the suitcase" runs. On the Forum everyday. Listening to HSM soundtrack constantly. About to get spending money changed into Euros.
All this and my wife still isn't excited about going. I dont understand. I'm bursting with excitement.
lol pete, i know what you mean by that. i go with my mum sister and son. my sister and son get excited but my mums gets about as excited as a house brick!! the next trip will be the 4th time she has been and i have only seen her get excited twice, and that was only a grin that lasted all of 2 seconds!
the magic starts for me when i do my last suitcase check the night before we go, going to sleep and knowing that even though i have to be awake at 3am i cant wait to get up because i will be in disneyland soon. also knowing that next time i go to sleep i will be IN disneyland!
then getting to the train station and seeing my train up on the board! being on the train and everyone is happy, everyone talks to eachother and all the kids look like they have just woke up on christmas morning!
steping off the train to hear the disney music and knowing that im just a few feet away from the entrance to the most magical place in the world.
walking under the disneyland hotel knowing that its only seconds untill i see the most beautiful sight.
i also get excited when i change my money into euros, and also when i can say IM GOING TO DISNEYLAND NEXT WEEK (which by the way i can now say!)
oh my life, i think i just got the third excited smile out of her!!  make that 4
For me it's when I see the T.V. ads for DLRP and hear the music from Peter Pan that they play in the background. Then I can say "we're going to Disney" !
Whenever I hear any of the land background music from either parks, whether it's when I'm watching a video or whatever, I'm right there in the park. If I close my eyes, I'm there and I feel really magical. :)
I dont know why, but yesterday in work, about 8pm ( yes 8pm !!!! Woked from 10am till 9.30pm :( ), I got a real rush of excitement about my holiday. I think it dawned on me that it was gonna be a week today that we go. I felt all tingly, my heart started beating a little faster and had the strangest urge to bounce up and down on the spot :?
Actually, I'm getting the same feeling writing this now. Its 10.25am on Sunday now, so in 1 week exactly I'll be having my last cup of coffee before leaving for the airport.
Going out to the garden now to bounce around, clap my hands and sing "one week left to go !!!"

Oh there's plenty of room in the suitcase, only half-full. But it wont be like that on the way home. :)
thats ok you can leave me there
I really feel magical right now.
For the last 3 weeks I've just been counting the days until I finally board that plane and be on my way to the magic!
...And I don't even mind getting up at 3 am...
Just that anxious feeling of knowing it's so close and you are preparing everything for the journey is magical for me. I'll be jumping like a three year old when I enter the resort!
