The American Film Institute hosted a TV special in the USA on CBS last night (6/17) that had ten categories of Top Ten movies. In the Animation category, nine of the top ten films listed were all produced (or distributed) by Disney; only DreamWorks Animation's
Shrek spoiled the Disney Parade by landing in the eighth position from a list of fifty nominees. The Top Ten Animated Films as judged by AFI:
- 1. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937)
- 2. Pinocchio (1940)
- 3. Bambi (1942)
- 4. The Lion King (1994)
- 5. Fantasia (1940)
- 6. Toy Story (1995; Pixar produced)
- 7. Beauty and the Beast (1991)
- 8. Shrek (2001; produced by DreamWorks Animation)
- 9. Cinderella (1950)
- 10. Finding Nemo (2003, Pixar produced)
Hmm interesting list!
I'm not sure I would have placed Pinocchio or Lion King so high up...and where are Peter Pan, Jungle Book or Sleeping Beauty?
Still, good to see Disney's got 9 out of 10!! :D/
Well never2old, the three films were under consideration from what I understand. I don't have the full list of fifty animated films (you must be a member of AFI to see that list) but I'm sure much of the Disney Animated canon was in there.
Those 3 are some of my all time favourites, you see....
:hello:
That doesn't suprise me, there's some great films there :)
