I guess this may as well be the "Official Topic" for the season...
I know, I know, it's only July, but they've already released some stuff for Halloween 2005! Released today was a brand new logo for the season plus some amazing new "key visuals", you saw em here first!
In my opinion, the new key visuals look amazing! The first one in particular with the castle at the bottom is just awesome. The new logo I wasn't sure about at first, but it looks more professional and modern than the old logo and definately looks good when it's used well like in that main key visual.
So there you go, start the discussion! :D
:( It's always been my dream to go to Disneyland during October...but if I don't get a job soon, I won't be able to go! But I must go!
:) Thanks for showing the pics, they look great... ^.^ I especially like the pumpkin man...
They look awesome!!!!! I'm looking forward to the halloween season again!
They've really done well creating the character of the "Pumpkin man". Back in 2003 it seemed like a crazy idea that would never work, but in less than 3 years they've established a Paris-exclusive character that has become very important and very recogniseable. Well done to the entertainment department for that!
Halloween is always a nice season as well because it seems to be one which everyone in the resort really enjoys. You usually see some really nice advertising and CMs are always great. Every department of the resort really gets into it, as shown by the amount of effort put into these visuals (in June/July as well!). :D
Wow, they look very good! Like the logo too!
Thanks for posting them!

You've said that very well!!! That's exactly how i experienced the Halloween season last year in October!
News from DLP.info:
QuoteDo you still remember Gruzella, the witch that crashed into the arches over the Main Street, U.S.A., which in turn froze the Pumpkin-Men in time while painting the Main Street orange? Well, she is back! But this time she is battling it out with the Pumpkin-Men. With the help of her friends, the pink witches, she wants to get control back over the Halloween Festival and especially get rid of that orange color.
Guests are invited to choose their site in the battle between Pumpkin-Men and the Pink Witches that will take place throughout the day on Main Street, U.S.A., renamed "Rue des Frissons" ("Street of Shivers"), and in Halloweenland as both sides join the interactive streetmosphere. To help them see rigth away who is on their side, children can get their faces painted in one of the two colors for free inside the giant pumpkin found in front of the Sleeping Beauty Castle. But be careful where you venture in Halloweenland with such a painted face as the lower half of Halloweenland will be controlled by the Pumpkin-Men who will once again set up their giant steel lift to transport the orange color from the depths of Big Thunder Mountain, while the upper part of Halloweenland, around the Cowboy Cookout Barbecue, will be controlled by the Pink Witches which will set up their own stage next to the restaurant for live entertainment. All new music groups covering all styles from country to Hip Hop will entertain guests here - and the popular Pinata certainly will be back for children too, by the way. Centerpiece of the area will be a statue of Gruzella. Also Disney promises a special photo ooportunity featuring a memorable scene with witches' cauldrons representing the European countries.
This sounds excellent! They're expanding the cool backstory to the festival even more, and also it seems trying to please those who don't like the Pumpkin Men - they can join the witches' side of the battle! :D
And here is the official press release which that information probably came from:
 http://www.disneylandparis.com/fr/press ... en2005.pdf (http://www.disneylandparis.com/fr/presse/pdf/Halloween2005.pdf)
It's a shame they haven't bothered to translate it into English yet... :( And also, I know I always say this, but it'd be nice if they finally brought Halloween to WDS sometime....
This press release does confirms the two Halloween Party Nights this year though - 30th and 31st - which is great news. :D
:P I'd rather have pink elephants than pink witches, but it sounds great! :( Can people wish me luck on my job hunting? If I don't get a job soon, we can't go to Disneyland this October...
Good luck! Good luck! Good Luck!
I was thinking of you as I passed the Cheshire Cat in the labyrinth this morning...

:o :D Aww, that's so sweet!
:P Thanks...there's a couple of places I've found where I need to drop my CV in...once I've done that, I can sit back a little and hope for the best...
The French Halloween 2005 website has been launched! It looks awesome!
http://www.magichalloween.com/index.php?c=fr&l=fr (http://www.magichalloween.com/index.php?c=fr&l=fr)
The other languages will follow soon, I guess...
:o :o :o
Wooooowwww!!! This is a million times better than last year's pathetic attempt!
All the graphics and music are great - I really like the loading paintbrush! And the new unique URL is a good idea as well. :D
Wow indeed Baloo!!! This looks very good, i like it a lot! :D
Now the only thing they have to do is release that new music i heard last year.
Quote from: "Jorien"Now the only thing they have to do is release that new music i heard last year.
Yes... I'm hoping the fact that there is currently no Halloween music available to purchase in the resort (except Halloween-Halloween on Frontierland En Musique) means we could see a new release within the next month! Fingers crossed... :)
For some reason, the English version doesn't seem to feature the same "choose your side" main page as the French version. All the pages are set up the same as those on the Pumpkinman version of the French site. Could they just be lazy, or have the Pumpkinmen started to win the battle already? :D
http://www.magichalloween.com/index.php?c=uk&l=uk (http://www.magichalloween.com/index.php?c=uk&l=uk)
Take a look on page 25 of the "Story so far" book on the website. There's a concept painting of the Pumpkinmen and the Pink Witches on Main Street, and one half of the street is orange whilst the other is pink... I think you can guess what's coming! I think they'll probably group all the old orange props onto the left and then put in a whole new set of pink ones on the right! I think it could actually look pretty cool, and would provide a good starting point for some very fun streetmosphere "battles". :D
Keep an eye on Phantom Manor in the background of the site - after a while, you can see the figure of a woman appear and vanish into the distance! Cool detail, eh? :D
DLRP have also got banner ads linking to the site on lots of other websites now - why do they always put so much more effort into Halloween advertising? Not that I'm complaining!
The Halloween -lo -ween soundtrack has been released on a new cd, with an additional 7 tracks!!! Amazing news! So at least there's a decent cd out now!

From one extreme to another... this CD looks absolutely stunning, and I wasn't expecting it at all!
It looks like the cover is a new style for the singles. I'm not sure whether I like it yet or not, but it's more professional than DLRP En Musique at least.
The number of remixes on there is too good to be true! Today I've gone from not believing a CD because it's so cr*p to not believing a CD because it's such a pleasant surprise!
I guess the only bad thing is that they use the old Halloween logo and the purple and yellow make the text a bit hard to read, but the tracks MORE than make up for that! *emails DLP Mail Order again*
Thanks for cheering me up, Raptor!
I've contacted all my friends at EPC for over a year to get a copy of the Halloween -lo -ween variations! I'm so excited about this cd. Hopefully we'll get a new cd of Chante, c'est noël too with the MSEP version on it. :)
oohh i wish i could go to DLP during hallooween!!! it looks like its gonna be great!
Halloween news is starting to appear a bit more frequently now...
Halloween 2005 Press Release
They're always full of lots of interesting information and details about the festival, and this one is no exception. It's a shame they *still* haven't got around to making the English version though, when the French version has been available since July...

It's Halloween-Lo-Ween Remixes
For anyone who wants to get a taste of the new remixes without buying the CD, or is being ignored by the official Mail Order service, visit this page:

The remixes are... interesting. :? Personally, I love the "Rocky Feeling" and "Country Touch" ones, but the Reggae, Asian and Techno ones are ever so slightly cringe-worthy... (as are the names they've given to the remixes, lol)
In-Park Preparations Have Begun!
Joel's latest photo report brings news that not only has the whole of the hub been closed off with construction fences (to allow them to get ready to put the giant pumpkin make-up studio in place), but also that this year's version of the old Spider Web Stage has now appeared in Frontierland.
(//http://joel.at.dlp.online.fr/dlp/20050913/tn_DSC06962.JPG) (//http://joel.at.dlp.online.fr/dlp/20050913/DSC06962.JPG) (//http://joel.at.dlp.online.fr/dlp/20050913/tn_DSC06946.JPG) (//http://joel.at.dlp.online.fr/dlp/20050913/DSC06946.JPG)
(source: http://joel.at.dlp.online.fr/dlp/20050913/ (http://joel.at.dlp.online.fr/dlp/20050913/) )
As far as I know, this stage will replace the old Spider Web Stage and is now next to Cowboy Cookout Barbecue, which makes much more sense in terms of guest flow compared to the old location in a very busy place near to the Shooting Gallery. The stage is now painted pink and will be named "Scène des Sorcières Roses", in French at least. :D

Do they normally put it up this early? I can't see that they've still got 13 days work left with it, so why put it there so early? Maybe they're just doing it now so they can focus on the Pumpkin Paint Pit cableway?
Loads of decorations are now in place, including some interesting new Pink Witches ones showing witches from different European countries (don't ask me why...).

Exciting eh? :D Don't forget to post your reactions to the new decorations - especially those Pink Witches ones. They look quite cartoony which might not be to everyone's taste, and the strange decision to have them representing countries might put people off them too. Wine for France, Tea for Great Britain, etc...
Personally, after disliking them a bit at first, I do quite like them. They're imaginative at least. :)
Interesting is what I can say they are, since after all they look a bit cartoonish, I am not a gigantic fan of them, right I support pumpkinmen :P . Paint the park orange if you ask me, more fun than pink, and ahem who said the English like tea, really what a generalisation  , I have to say I am known to hate tea :P .
(//http://www.dlrp.fr/news/upload/dlp/halloween/240905/3/halloween3_11small.jpg) (//http://www.dlrp.fr/news/upload/dlp/halloween/240905/3/halloween3_11.jpg)

And what about Holland? Again windmills, and wooden shoes i guess? :?
That way everyone will keep thinking we are surrounded with those and think we all walk on wooden shoes in here......
Quote from: "Jorien"That way everyone will keep thinking we are surrounded with those and think we all walk on wooden shoes in here......
What?! You mean you don't?! :o
My English teacher who's from Holland was telling us the other day how people in the Netherlands all think everyone in England walks around with umbrellas all the time, so it's funny to see that the DLRP Entertainment people think the same! :D
I wonder why they put these there though? How do Witches from different countries fit into the season's story? Perhaps they think that people from each Witches' country will automatically have a photo taken with that Witch... :? I really like the Pink Witch statue though, and it's cool that they have a Pumpkinman behind it, starting to paint it orange. :D
And btw, I don't like tea either... And I never carry an umbrella... And we don't have a union jack flag outside our house... I think people from every country will feel the same as you Jorien, so if they're clever they'll realise that you don't *all* live in windmills. Some of you live in canalboats... :P

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for not posting a picture of Holland of a field with windmills.....like Patmagic did a while back! :P
Ok back on topic again (as raptor would say)! I don't know what to think of those witches yet. Doesn't look bad, but can't really place them in the whole theming yet.
Just have to see it for myself i guess when i'm over there.
You can see even more of this year's decorations over on Joel's latest Photo Hunt:
http://joel.at.dlp.online.fr/dlp/20050927/ (http://joel.at.dlp.online.fr/dlp/20050927/)
It seems my prediction that half of Main Street would be pink was wrong:
(//http://joel.at.dlp.online.fr/dlp/20050927/tn_DSC07048.JPG) (//http://joel.at.dlp.online.fr/dlp/20050927/DSC07048.JPG)
The concept art did show it half and half, and I think it would have definately been a cool idea, but it seems the Pink Witches are preferring to stay in HalloweenLand for now. Orange County looks SO much better without the Lights of Winter though, doesn't it? :)
A new feature for this year is the Witches' Academy Convention, where you'll find the European witches statues, Pink Witches' Stage and more.
(//http://joel.at.dlp.online.fr/dlp/20050927/tn_DSC07064.JPG) (//http://joel.at.dlp.online.fr/dlp/20050927/DSC07064.JPG) (//http://joel.at.dlp.online.fr/dlp/20050927/tn_DSC07076.JPG) (//http://joel.at.dlp.online.fr/dlp/20050927/DSC07076.JPG)
There's also the imaginatively titled "Witch Shop", which features some excellent cardboard cut out themeing...
(//http://joel.at.dlp.online.fr/dlp/20050927/tn_DSC07056.JPG) (//http://joel.at.dlp.online.fr/dlp/20050927/DSC07056.JPG)
...but for the full cardboard cut-out experience you really have to visit the photo location:
(//http://joel.at.dlp.online.fr/dlp/20050927/tn_DSC07071.JPG) (//http://joel.at.dlp.online.fr/dlp/20050927/DSC07071.JPG)
...or the beautifully designed Disney characters balcony:
(//http://joel.at.dlp.online.fr/dlp/20050927/tn_DSC07069.JPG) (//http://joel.at.dlp.online.fr/dlp/20050927/DSC07069.JPG)
So after all this I think you can tell that I'll be most definately supporting the Pumpkinmen this Halloween. Not only are they not ugly, but their decorations look much more high-quality and professional and they are *consistent* - a quality the Pink Witches don't seem to understand.
Just look at the cool Halloween Hairdressing studio:
(//http://joel.at.dlp.online.fr/dlp/20050927/tn_DSC07062.JPG) (//http://joel.at.dlp.online.fr/dlp/20050927/DSC07062.JPG)
And one of the most amazing seasonal decorations ever:
(//http://joel.at.dlp.online.fr/dlp/20050927/tn_DSC07058.JPG) (//http://joel.at.dlp.online.fr/dlp/20050927/DSC07058.JPG)
I don't completely hate the Pink Witches. I like the idea and I like the entrance statue, but the European Witches are out of place and tacky and the cardboard cut-outs should be shredded ASAP!
GO PUMPKINMEN!!! *woooo*
There are now some brand new Halloween Festival adverts, which will be used mainly around the Paris area between now and October 31st. They use a Frontierland-style design to show the battle between the Pink Witches and Pumpkinmen, and are bright and interesting enough for people to notice them whilst also putting across the "battle" storyline in just a few words - "who will have the last word? you decide!"
Here's the first one:
(//http://www.dlrpmagic.com/outsidepics/hweenposter_1sm.jpg) (//http://www.dlrpmagic.com/outsidepics/hweenposter_1.jpg)
Unfortunately I can't be quite so enthusiastic about the second one. Not only can you really notice the seriously bad Photoshop job, but you can also see too clearly just how cheap the Pumpkinman's costume head is. Oh, and the Pink Witch really ought to use some of her magic to fix her nose...
(//http://www.dlrpmagic.com/outsidepics/hweenposter_2sm.jpg) (//http://www.dlrpmagic.com/outsidepics/hweenposter_2.jpg)
It's also interesting that these adverts show a totally different image of the Pink Witch. She's brighter and cheaper-looking... I think this will be how the live performers during the season will look. It's a shame really, because even though the Witches in the first visuals weren't quite so obviously "pink", they did look more professional and high-quality.
What does everyone else think of these ads? Or the decorations as a whole?
There's just one day to go before the season begins, and http://www.dlrp.fr (http://www.dlrp.fr) has a full tour of the decorations for this year's season, including photos of some new decorations which have appeared over the last couple of days:
(//http://www.dlrp.fr/news/upload/dlp/halloween/290905/halloween1small.jpg) (//http://www.dlrp.fr/news/upload/dlp/halloween/290905/halloween1.jpg)

http://www.dlrp.fr/news/show_news.php?id_news=91 (http://www.dlrp.fr/news/show_news.php?id_news=91)
I'll try keep my opinions short here, so I'll just say that Orange County looks a million times better without the Lights of Winter and that I'm beginning to really like the Pink Witches. :D I just wish I could be there... :(
ps: They have Pirate Pumpkinmen!
(//http://www.dlrp.fr/news/upload/dlp/halloween/290905/2/halloween36small.jpg) (//http://www.dlrp.fr/news/upload/dlp/halloween/290905/2/halloween36.jpg)
Is it me, or does this season every year get better, this year wow so fantastic to see the pink witches are making a very cool quality effort in Frontierland, also I think Main Street without the lights of winter is looking quite nice, although the merchandise nice halloween stuff, but since when did Tokyo Pumpkin Mickey hit Paris
They have those in WDW too, with the fiberglass lights.
Halloween begins today!!
But the Disney Villain Parade actually began yesterday, with a rehearsal run. Take a look here: http://disneymec.skyblog.com/index.html (http://disneymec.skyblog.com/index.html)
I really like the Pink Witches costumes, they mix really well with the Pumpkinmen and have totally changed my opinion about this new part of this year's festival. I really like all the Pink Witches now - except for the European witches (which have now been removed because kids climbed on them) and the cardboard cut-outs.
Why was there no giant pumpkin in the parade over the weekend??????!!!! Did it pop or something?
It was deflated backstage... :?
Well that's weird did the pink witches cast a spell to rid of the fun cool giant inflatable pumpkin now  . Well that seems like a downer, considering it's always fun to watch, I even remember last year an annoying woman in front of me waving to the guy inside, yeah like he can wave back  .
There were A LOT of Pink Witches in the parade on saturday (press event day...). Each float was terrorised by 5 or so, while on sunday, there were like 5 in the whole parade...
LOL, not sure about your counting skills Kristof. I saw just a few more than 5 lol, but there were less. Also they replaced the witch on the pumpkinmen float with someone dressed as a "pumpkinman helper" with a pumpkin hat on. Another pumpkinman was also lost on the float though lol.
Quotenot sure about your counting skills Kristof
By figure of speaking...
Maybe I'm getting a bit ahead here, but next year Halloween will run from October 7th to November 5th! That's a bit odd, don't you think?
It doesn't seem right to continue the festival after October 31st, and why is it starting a week late? Maybe it's something to do with the dates of schools' October half-term holidays?
Can I point your mind back to pre 2004 era, the Halloween festival used to run till November, maybe this is a deploy so therefore the construction cast members have enough time to place up the Chandilliars, maybe they don't want them to be up too early, due to maybe some confusion this year from guests :?: . Also late start, maybe they want to run it mostly for a whole 30 days, mostly a whole month and not a month and a week, that's just my thought, although maybe we are in for a surprise like a new character like the white ghostmen  , although I highly doubt it, though they could be placing more preminant pink witch decor on say Main Street, since the story does seem to expand every year. :D
Halloween Party Night stuff is starting to appear! :D
Here's a great video of the Light & Sound Spectacular, from http://www.dlrp.fr (http://www.dlrp.fr):
Low quality (41Mb) : http://www.dlrp.fr/videos/halloween/sonetlumieres.wmv (http://www.dlrp.fr/videos/halloween/sonetlumieres.wmv)
High quality (102Mb) : http://www.dlrp.fr/videos/halloween/sonetlumieres.mpg (http://www.dlrp.fr/videos/halloween/sonetlumieres.mpg)
So there you go - they DID use fireworks! And LOADS of them! More than Wishes infact, though I suppose this show did only run for 2 nights. Overall it's a nice show, and whilst I hate to criticise, the 3D projections look quite dodgy and the music is awful - "Wishes"? "Atlantis"? It just doesn't fit very well in my opinion. Not even an awesome section of Nightmare Before Christmas music can save it!
I had the luck to meet again Flor and Raptor (and friends) in wonderful costumes! Nice to meet you again guys!
The Soirée was pretty cool, amazing stuff.. More details later...
I had the chance to do almost everything i wanted to do at the Halloween Night! Dressed as Willy Wonka, i had the priviledge to go on stage along with the HOCUS POCUS Wicked Witches, Great moments! Just after it, with a group of 30 french disney fans we did the Parade at night, just before the fantillusion Villains and impressive Fire floats. The Fireworks was great and put to shame this summer Wishes.
A pic of me and my Oompa Loompa:
Flor and raptor, post a pic of you guys, you were great too!
We did both nights, the first night was the WORST experience ever in DLRP.
Flor was wearing the Jafar outfit which he bought in the park. I was wearing the Aladdin suit which he wore last year.
When we got into the parks without any hasle, we were approached by a group of British cast-members (they were from EPC) who invited us to the pre-parade. That happened 4 times when we were walking in the park.
We went to the direction of Crittel Coral when suddenly a CM stopped me and said that she loved my costume, BUT since it was a Disney costume, I was not allowed to:
1) Smoke
2) Talk to guests
3) Get pictures with guests.
If they would ask me to get a picture, I had to make hand gestures that I wouldn't do it. :-s
I was kind off shocked, but continued our visit in the park. I rejected everyone non-verbal who wanted to get a picture with me.
Now here comes the worst part of the story:
We decided to go L'Auberge in Fantasyland to get some pictures of our group. Flor and i went to the terrace while the others were waiting in front of the castle. Suddenly, out of the blue, I got surrounded by a cast-member and 2 security officers. They asked me in French why I wasn't refused access when I got into the park with my costume. I wasn't allowed with the costume according to them. Then they asked if I changed clothes inside the park. I told them what happened, how I was approached 5 times by different CM's and how they said they loved my costume. I told them about the CM in frontierland who explained me the "rules".
Then they told me that if I would stick me to those rules, I could stay in the park... The wished me a pleasant night and they were gone.
We went directly to City Hall to file a complaint, but I didn't get the names of the CM's, so they couldn't do much. The guy just said that those CM's probably didn't know you were allowed to dress up, since it's new since this year. I pointed out that we were wearing the same costumes last year, he didn't have an answer to that. So I just wrote down what happened on a complaint form and went back into the parks.
Oh and the thing that bothered me the most was how rude and sarcastic they were. This was no Disney magic at all.
Cool costume Kinou, and Raptor sounds like complete idiots running the parks these days, completely not magical it sounds like, really do the cast members never understand that soiree usually means party and that you can usually see people dressed up. Maybe it's just me or did they invite people to dress up  .
