According to f.e. Candleabration I love it, that the celebration continues, it's just such a magical show :)!

But I still don't understand what the sense is celebrating the 15th during the 16th birthday    Do they also keep the "15" on the castle etc.? I think that's just confusing for the visitors...

And are there no rumors of a new parade in the Studios anymore? :(

Because DLRP surveyed over 5000 people all over Europe who preferred the celebrations above Mickey's anniversary.

Stars & Motor Cars parade is not confirmed yet.  If it will, I'll add it to the list.  :)

Oh, poor Mickey :( Would have loved a celebration of his birthday! But I guess you said that the concept arts didn't look very good ;)! Where were the surveys?

And I hope the parade will be confirmed - or any other news this year :)!

Considering that none of the parks seem to acknowledge Mickey's birthday in a big way... my guess would be that the company doesn't want it its mascot that's supposed to be ever young to appear old by celebrating its 80th birthday...

Those surveys were done by an independent office, so I guess they used phone marketing.

New dancer units will be added to the Once Upon A Dream Parade to tie in with the "Celebration Continues". There are lots of possiblities including Octopus dancers (similar to Halloween parade) behind Ursula. Can-Can dancers behind Pinnocchio. More Jungle Animals with the Adventure float and standard "coloured cloud" dancers with the imagination float - lke seen on the press launch.

All will be confirmed soon...

Brilliant news.

Expecting them to cut down the parade after a year rather than add to it, this is a really great effort.

I'm looking forward to April now. :)

I am so glad that they are extending the 15th birthday for another year as me and my partner have not had the chance to visit the park during the 15th birthday yet and as we are getting married this july and we are going to DLRP for our honymoon we are glad that it will be around when we go

Talking of celebrating Mickey's Birthday.. I wonder if any of the parks will be celebrating Mickey's 100th Birthday, I know it's quite a way off, but It gives them extra planning time!!! lol

The celebration continues, why :?:
You dont celebrate your birthday for 2 years so why this :?:
A blatent way to save spending money on anything new because they can use all the 15th decorations for another year :?:
I understand not everyone got there in the 15th year but hey thats life. Did California extend the 50th for another year :?: So why this.

I think it is because the 15th anniversary celebrations have probably been the most successful advertising campaign that the resort has every had, you can tell how popular it's been by through the resorts financial results. It's not a bad thing that it's being continued, it'll allow more people to experience the magic of the 15th anniversary, and to help get the resort out of debt. :)

Having seen the official figures its definately the best for a while but to me its just watering down that special year.
Wont stop me going and buying more merchandise though

This has been explained before on the message board.  It was going between Mickey's Anniversary or the Celebration continues, but guests and future guests preferred in surveys all over Europe the latter.

Oooh it's here! I saw the new banners on the official site yesterday but disneyland15 was still the same. The new design IS beautiful! Great colours! Nice way of sorting the menu with the new and returning things.

Some of the english translations are a bit off though, or don't explain/sell the stuff very well.  :?

Still, another wonderful website from DLRP!! Just WHO designs them these days? They really 'get' the resort.

I guess that whole "oh happy day" thing died a quiet death then? Yes?! :D

Baloo's love for DLRP slowly dies.......

It is a minutely better version of it (meaning the guy in pink appears less), but good lord.

The most insulting thing about it is that they couldn't even time the flashing of the '15' to the hand claps.

I know! It just makes it so much worse when they go back to something like this that's as clunky and ugly as the 'needmagic' disaster.

The red carpet 15th adverts were probably the best adverts for a Disney resort I've ever seen. Aside from the very clever idea, it was the good use of characters that made them work. Who gets excited by some stupid family dancing around on the stage? They should do a commercial showing a few of the VIP characters taking the decorations down in Main Street (maybe Donald moaning "arr phooey, the party's over already!"), before Mickey emerges from the Castle and announces "hold on folks! we've still got some presents left to unwrap!!". Then the Tower, Stitch, HSM2 are "unwrapped" on screen.

Oh, and the ToT should definitely be a nighttime shot. It looks so dull in this promo.

Hmmm yes, we've been spoilt alright.

Need Magic! I forget that promotion. It never seemed like it was actually Disney. The first time I saw it, I thought it was a thrid party with a tie in with DLRP. How it ever got developed and actually used is beyond me. Need Magic? Yes the whole promotion did need magic!

Yes that´s true, but from a country where you haven´t dlrp marketing it´s wonderful that they do "something"       just joking   For me it´s now over the years normal that they take 2 steps forward and an half back. I´m waiting now for the next steps forward  :D/

But I must say, that even me is now a bit pampered by the magic of the carped campain.
Nice idea for the new spot! They should take you for campain director!

Guess who's just seen the brand new TV advert for the celebration continues...big time :)  You'll all be happy learn that it is NOT the happy days advert as well
It starts with some children and characters running down Main Street and as they do the buildings which are all covered in CGI wrapping paper unwrap. The group then reach the castle which unwraps itself as well, and looks great. It then talks about the parade (I'm not 100% but I think they call it the Disney Dream Parade :? ) and the TOT and Stitch which all use fantastic visuals.

To wrap it up, this is in my opinion slightly better than the previous 15th anniversary advert and I guarantee you'll all love it :)

I saw the parade 3 times in one trip (my boyfriend was seriously unimpressed and went shopping on Main Street while I stood there waiting to see it for the 3rd time!!) and I still can't wait to see it again! I heard a DLP advert on the TV this morning that was on about the summer season and it was saying "come for the finale of the 15th birthday celebrations"...I thought it was on till March 2009?! That's one hell of a long finale!!

The new merchandise for CCBT uses very lovely visuals from Disney's Once upon a Dream Parade.  New merchandise will be released throughout the year.

Quote from: "Snow_White_Girl"I heard a DLP advert on the TV this morning that was on about the summer season and it was saying "come for the finale of the 15th birthday celebrations"...I thought it was on till March 2009?! That's one hell of a long finale!!

That's what I thought... Then I got Scared... For Me Finales are 10 minutes long at the most (I do the occasional Musical...)

I'm not going till Autumn/Winter... I don't want to miss out...

Although I was thinking it being the 80th Birthday of Everybody's favorite Mouse. Mickey's 80th could be taking the limelight... So we could be celebrating a birthday... But not continuing the celebrations of the 15th Year...

Question... did Disney do anything for the Birthday of Pooh Bear? Cause I believe Christopher Robin's best Friend reached a mile stone... Can't remember which one tho...

Yes, the TV ads are back! From now until about the second week in June, I think. They were in practically every ad break on E4 last night (I had it on in the background).  The new voiceover is a bit better - I'm not really sure how well "the celebration continues!" went with the audience, would it just sound like they've run out of ideas? Saying "join us for the finale" now makes sense, since the stuff for the 2009 season will begin appearing at the end of this year, and I'm guessing the upcoming autumn/winter brochure will be pushing it as the finale.

I wish he wouldn't say "See the Dream Parade!" though, and again it's a shame to see the bad effects as the kids jump through the castle and WDW's ugly contraption rather than the real OUADP. Maybe one day DLRP will be capable of producing good TV ads on its own and we won't have their footage forced upon us.

Not recently, though I've got a funny feeling the original outdoor Winnie show was introduced for his birthday. The last character birthday celebrated was Donald Duck, very randomly a few years ago...

Disney have been making Winnie the Pooh features since 1966, so that would make him 42 now as far as Disney's concerned, but obviously he was around as a fictional character long before that - Disney just didn't get the rights to the character till the 60s. If we go from when he was created by A.A. Milne, Pooh is actually older than Mickey, at 83!!  :)

Ha, yes!! You know how you always think stuff you see on the adverts never really happens?! Well I remember seeing an advert for DLP once where all the kids were running into Fantasyland, I said to my boyfriend "Oh I bet that doesn't happen!"... Oh how wrong we were... We were at the Fantasyland rope-drop on our first morning at DLP, and at 10am on the dot there was just a stampede of kids!! Worrying thing was I think I was in front of most of them, dragging my poor boyfriend along behind me!!

How did you get 83... I was looking at it earlier and I got Pooh's first Appearance in Winnie-The-Pooh in 1926 Making Him 82... or do we go with the story's birthdate for Pooh as a present for Christopher Robin on his First Birthday; August 21st 1921... Making him 87 this year, so I'm not sure... Or do disney count it as 1966? Making him a young 42?

When Exactly is Mr Mouse's birthday by the way... Do disney recognise it as his first released production or his first production in total? And I find these as May 15th 1928 or November 18th?? Any One????

:offtopic:

That's not really a discussion that goes in the celebration continues topic.   You can open a topic in the World of Disney board regarding these characters' birthdays.  :)

The Vocal Performance in these adverts to me still appears to fall too flat in my opinion...
It doesn't have the punch or the Vocal Magic of Artists like James Earl Jones, or Even Brit Advert Kings Hugh Laurie or Stephen Fry. (They Just Seem to Dominate Adverts)

I keep seeing the adverts all over telly and get annoyed when its not DLRP footage, along the bottom of the screen it always seems to say "footage from WDW" etc. Why advertise Florida when we all want to go to DLRP. Also got to agree on the voice, no real punch to it, had the add on in the background and missed it several times.

Hi All,

I may have missed this detail somewhere else on the forum so I apologise in advance Raptor if I have

I've had my second trip to DLRP cancelled for this year  :(  So I'm thinking about 2009 to cheer myself up.

Is there anything new planned for 2009 after the extended celebration ? Are there any rumours doing the rounds ?

Thanks.

I think the Resort is planning quite a bit next year to keep the momentum going after the Anniversary. The Studios is scheduled to get the Playhouse Disney Show and the Star and Motorcars Parade. Other rumours say a new celebration in Mickey's honor will be held to mark his 80th birthday. The Candlebration stage is going to remain and I think some kind of new show is planned. Plus what ever else DLRP decide to throw out at us.

Does anyone remember that old Shari Lewis/Lamb Chop song "The Song That Never Ends"?

I guess that this would be "The 15th Anniversary That Never Ends".

Thank you, you're a great internet audience. I'm here all week. Don't forget to try the pork chops and tip your wait staff accordingly!

And the celebration will FINALLY end March 7th, 2009.
