July 1993... it was a bright and sunny day... and I remember the overwhelming feeling of actually walking down Main Street, U.S.A. ... it was that moment, that put me under Disney's spell...
In 1993.But I can't remember this very well, I have been 4 years old then...
erm it was in 1997 for the 5th anniversary and we stayed at the newport bay club. i think it will have been august time because i was 7 and at school.
my first visit was just after they opened the studios (we didn't even know the studios were new then :p)

My first DLRP visit was in August 1996 after a London trip
My first WDW trip was in August/September 1997
My first trip was in May 1998 for 3 days. (when was 6) and I do remember that I cryed on the last day, couz' I didn't want to go home
my first trip was around the 23 november 2003, without looking it up cant tell you the exact days but we took my son for his birthday and that was the 23 nov

First visit was on the opening day .There was such a fantastic atmosphere, magic was in the air
11th june 2001 for my daugter's 2nd birthday, staying in the santa fe. this is when we were first bitten by the disney bug-hadn't even visited a disney store. now i get withdrawal symptoms :D our 4th visit will be 7th july-176 days!!
November 2002. Stayed in Cheyenne (Sitting Bull) Never forget my daughters face (then 4 years old) as we walked through the gates and Mickey was there....Been back every year since, always at Christmas. Next visit in 6 weeks, break the tradition I guess!
Quote from: "treble". now i get withdrawal symptoms :D !!
Me too! First was our honeymoon July 28th-August 1st 2003 My Travel (as it was) Explorers.
October 1992 - a day, that has changed my life! :D
First went back in April (around the 14th) 1995, which means I was 5, but I dont remember it at all! :P
I went in either 1992 or 1993. I can't really remember because i was only 2 but apparently i went crazy as soon as i got in the park and ran at all the characters I saw!
Mine was first in WDW Florida in 1991, and the first at DLRP 2004
August 1997.
A one day trip with my girlfriend (now my wife) as we were staying in Paris on our first holiday together.
We were very cynical about the whole Disney thing, however, the second we walked through the gates we were hooked!
My first visit was July 1992, I was four! We stayed in the Cheyenne. Don't remember all that much but I must've enjoyed it because I'm completely hooked!
My first trip was in April/May 1993. The first thing I´ve seen was the Disneyland Hotel cause we traveled by train and you´ve seen the Disneyland Hotel through the big windows staying at the moving staircase.
The train station wasn´t complete constructed and also Disney Village (festival Disney at this time) was even very small.
We never take the train again cause it costs so much time in 1993 :)
The castle was a big cake with a big ONE in front of, that was great at this time. Today it would look a bit silly, I think
And every night fireworks and MEP, even in the off-season. And breakfast with table service at newport bay, no buffet services
Must of been about 1996-97 have only been 4 or 5 times but love it every time!
Was with my parents in the summer, just for a day mind you (they never really liked themeparks) but i still remember the fireworks and for some odd reason the Dragon stuck with me too.
It was in the summer of 1994 when my girlfriend (now my wife) and I stayed for 4 days/3 nights at the Sequia Lodge.
Being in "Euro Disney" in 1994 was great - the park was very empty and everything looked shiny and new. And visiting DLRP was not so expensive like today... :donald:
Space Mountain was just a construction site at this time, with a newly opened Nautilus in front!
June 1992 we stayed for 5 days and because it was so quiet we were upgraded from the Newport Bay to a Lake view room in the Hotel New York.
It really was magical as the weather was hot, everything was so fresh & new, the Cast Members were excellent and couldn't do enough to help and also compared to today the Park was very quiet.
My first Visit too Disneyland Resort Paris was in July 1998
My first Visit too Walt Disney World was in April 2001
My first visit too Disneyland Resort was in March 2007 :)

My first time to DLRP was in 1992. I can't remember the exact month at the moment. The popular Dutch kids/teens show, Telekids and the Dutch Donald Duck magazine organised the Donald Duck express. They decorated a train on the outside with footprints of Donald's feet. The inside was all dressed up with lots of Donald Duck posters. You received a surprise bag with a Donald Duck comic, stickers, Sonic the Hedgehog pin (Sega was one of the sponsors) and some foot.
At one end of the train they had Disney cartoons playing, the other end was filled with Sega games. I think the ride was about 6 hours, but there was enough to do. We arrived at Meaux, and from there we took busses to the resort.
The trip was also recorded and broadcasted on TV. I also made a very little appearance on the show. :D
My first visit to DLRP was in 1995,when i was just 2 years old!Hehe! What memories..... :P
Can't remember the months of the first two, but
Disneyland Anaheim - 1987 (I was 2 or 3! And terrified of Mickey apparently!) Have since been 4 more times!
Walt Disney World - 1993 (when I was 8 )... Only been back once since, with my ex-boyfriend and his family in 2005.
Disneyland Paris - September 2007 at the grand age of 22! Just booked a trip back for July/August this year and can't wait already!! :D/
I went to Walt Disney World (just for ONE day, honestly!!! I should sue my parents!!!) back in 1985, must have been September. I remember Main Street (which felt very big) and the castle at the end. I remember we went on Snow White (and found it on a bit scary side...), and we did the submarine ride (which went under water, I loved it, I was so dissapointed when the Nautilus in Paris was nothing like it). I remember doing the Haunted Mansion. I'm sure there was a lot more but can't remember it all :(
We also did BTM, I went with my dad and brother in the first carriage, my sister and mom where just behind us, and the first thing my dad told us was "Look, there's no driver!" Now none of us kids had ever been on a rollercoaster (I was eight and the eldest, my brother was 4 I think!), we didnt know what to expect, and seeing there was no one to control the thing, which started moving really fast and in a very unnatural way, we were all terrified!!! For years BTM becase the "crazy train", and I didn't go on another rollercoaster until many years later... (and it was the BTM again, this time in Paris though - and loved it so much that I did it 3 times in a row!!). Actually, if I think about it, I don't think I've been on any coasters other than the ones in Disney parks...
First time in DLP was in 1992, can't remember the month at all. We only stayed for one day... And there was almost no one there (no queues at all, god those were the days!!) so we did everything we wanted to do (which did not include any coasters...).
Ah, the memories!!!
My first visit was in October 1992. Everything was brand new and it was so cool (I mean I was some years younger than now...). But nowadays with an age of almost 30 years it's still very cool and exciting!
My first visit was May 1992. We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel and I have visited every year since then. Usually 3 times a year.
we went for the 5th anniversary (and my mum and dads wedding anniversary), was supposed to go back for the 10th anniversary, but I was stuck in hospital :-( finally made it back in christmas 06 with my boyfriend, and again for the 15th feb this year, hopefully christmas 15th anniversary too
hello. my name is natalie and i would like to thankyou for welcoming me to disneylandaholics anonymouslol. i took my first breath of this addiction in may 1993. have had to have a fix every year since, but alas i think my addiction is getting worse as i have to go twice this year. if there is a cure for this particular addiction please dont tell me :P
The worst thing Natalie is that it gets worse every time.
Me too I've gone from once a year to twice to now even three times a year.
Support groups like this one help, particularly in those long periods when one's waiting for the next trip.... :D
yes agree it helps to have a very good support group, you know you try to keep your addictions secret from the world but they will always come out in the end. please help me thru the bad times, i really need some help.
don't worry natalie, you are not alone!!
My first Visit to Paris was back in 1992. Must have been June. I visited the original Disneyland in Anaheim in January 1994 and the World in Orlando in February 1994. And after that - many, many happy returns :D/
Cheers,
Flounder
May 1992, i dont remember any of it specifically as i was still in a pushchair. But since then my family and i have been back almost every year and twice for a couple of years. in total i've been 21 times. but ive never been to either of the American parks as my dad thinks i'd be disappointed with it compared to the brilliance of Paris. went to DCA when it opened though
on my first time at disneyland paris i was one year old it was in 1992 any weeks after the opening of the park :D
i was so happy and i said "thank you mommy" to my mom :)
when i was 6 we went to walt disney world florida and i really love both i can't understand why some people talk so negativ about the parks in america...
but at least i have ever been happy and since my first time we went every year to the one in paris except in the two years we went to florida because that would be to expensive
here a picture from me on my first trip to disneyland :D

My first visit to WDW was 1993 when i was 9.
I was a late visiter to DLRP and my first visit was 2008 but in that short space of time i have totalled up to 8 visits (including my next 2 trips) :D

WOW 8 visits until 2008?? thats great :D
July 1992 here - I was twelve at the time, which was probably just the right age to get hooked.
It's interesting that there aren't actually that many people on here who were there in the opening year. I would have thought there are more. And also - most of us seem to have grown up with it one way or another. Is there ANYONE who went as a parent or young couple in 1992 and still loves it?
I fall in between. I was nearly 18 when I went and loved it from the get go (but I did grow up at Walt's original park and have been obsessed my whole life). My wife however went on her very 1st trip at the age of 23 and still loves it now.
Though neither of us love it was much as we used to because they have been dumbing down the whole experience (here and in the States) for the last 10 years.
I went for my first time the year the nautilus opened - can someone help me pinpoint the year, it was pre space mountain and post indy i know that much :-)

That is likely to be 1994
thanks for the swift response- i had a break for a few years until 2007 weve then had 8 trips since, i feel glad i missed the 'bleak years'
June 1992
and onwards  . Great years back then! But oh well....I'm still happy and have a positive feeling over the future.
I didn't go between 1995 and 2002 - that's a pretty long gap, and I still don't quite know WHY I didn't go.
But I have been toning it down a lot lately. Mostly because after having basically *lived* at WDW for a year, it's just not that special anymore. I never thought that would happen, and it actually didn't for a few years afterwards, but now it kind of has.
There's so many places I haven't been to in the world (entire continents) that Disney needs to take a backseat for a while. Of course I'll still pop into Hong Kong Disneyland again when I come past it later this year :), but for the time being I'm not building entire trips around it anymore.
I think if I had a family, I'd be hooked immediately again - I think half of the fun is seeing OTHER people enjoying it with you...
My first trip was August 2006...always wanted to go since I was like olds enough to know what disney was but my parents weren't into foreign holidays or anything :(. went twice in 2007 and twice again in 2008..back for my 6th trip in september and may go again in nov or december!
trying to make up for lost time
First trip was with my college in 2004 when we performed at the Fantasy Festival Stage! Then I went in 2005, 2006 and 2008. I want to go again soon!
We've been disney fanatics for years (all started when my parents cynically ventured into florida in the late 70s and fell instantly in love) and my own first taste of disney was at WDW in 1988 when I was 3yrs old.
First visit to DLP was in August 1993 staying at the Newport Bay. We then waited 3 years (madness) to go again in 1996 (again NB). Once we'd realised that, hey, no one's stopping us going every year if we want to, we've been pretty much every year every since (staying at NB, NY, and DH).
Went to Cali Disneyland in 2001 and loved it but my heart is at DLP!
Last visit to DLP was last year, just me and my boyfriend (mum was sooooo jealous!) but going again this year with the whole family (Sept - can't wait!!).
I first became a disney fan... my very first memories involve disney stuff. But I became a die-hard fan after the rennaisance of Disney Animation with The Little Mermaid. Then in 1995 when I was 15 I went to WDW having the trip as a gift (tradition for south american girls). And I fell in love with Disney parks. I bet that if i had never been a disney fan before i would have had become one after being at WDW. Everything was so neat, perfect and clean! Then I went back in 1996, and after that I couldn't travel to the US anymore.
Later in 2000 I had the opportunity in to visit Disneyland California and I loved it! Then I was hoping my then boyfriend would stand my disney fascination with the parks. We went to DLP for our honeymoon, it being for him the first visit to a disney park ever. He became a big fan just as me! I'm very lucky :P
But, I was hoping he would drag me away from disney parks and make me go on holiday to some non disney destination somewhere in the real world.... now it'll always be disney holidays for us I guess (unless we can't pay for it and have to stay at home).
So, that's not helpful for my disney obsessive-compulsive disorder lol
So, my advice is, if you feel you need treatment, don't ever marry a disney fan :P
My first visit was in the opening year, too! It was in October 1992 and I was 15 years old. It got me right from the start!
July 2007 was the first go, for 2 days only. have been there for three more times since then :)
We actually stumbled onto Disneyland by accident, we just went to Paris for couple of days and after the first day, well, i was quite dissapointed with Paris because im not into watching buildings and paintings and so onand so forth...so the second day I decided we should go and take a look at the Disneyland, i had only heard about it vaguely before and , being from Estonia (Estonians generally have EXTREMELY bad opinions about Disneyland Paris and all the other Disneylands) what i had heard of it ,wasnt good at all. But, my god, I got caught by magic as soon as I stepped in through the front gates of the Magic Kingdom...
I was 21 back then, now, in two weeks ill be 24
I wish I would live there :)
1992, I was 3. I can still remember some things though, including meeting Mickey Mouse.
Its probably my earliest memory, the resort obviously made a big impact on my 3 year old self, more than 16 years ago.

It will do that, I have very strong memories of Disneyland in 1976, when I was 2 years old. Yet I can still remember some of them as clearly as anything, and trace it back as being a very big start of me becoming who I am today.
In 2006, when I was 22! My family had no money for big family vacations and I also had to work my way through college, so when I was done I got myself a job and booked a trip a.s.a.p. And ever since it's a yearly tradition, this year's gonna be my 4th trip.
My very first visit was in 1993, but I remember nothing because I was only 18 months old ;)
The first visit I can actually remember was in 1997 for the 5th anniversary, but again, I only remember that vaguely because I was only 5!
