Disney is now beta-testing it's Virtual Magic Kingdom game. It's really cool, with lots and lots of references to DLRP! The castle is almost an exact copy and theres' even a dragon in the basement ;-)

Ah yes Virtual Magic Kingdom wow you can learn to like it very quickly I have come to notice since I can't stop playing it a lot :D . Also the Paris references are really cool to see there. i have to say this is great especially that it's free :D .
It looks very nice........but i have no idea what i have to do there. And the buttons on the bottom of the screen aren't working either, can't type anything. Can anyone tell me what you have to do, i really don't get it. :?
Oh yes, I have to same problems sometimes. Close the game and log in again. That should help. The game is still in BETA, so some problems might pop up.

Could you also tell me what the purpose is of the game? Is it making your own room the most succesfull of all? Or is it finding the hidden mickeys? Or is there something else? (I already bought a camera for the hidden mickeys)
I have to say that you get addicted by it, even when i have no idea what to do exactly. :wink:
You have to create your own room. There can you put some furniture by earning credits (find hidden Mickeys, find the Dragon, Esmeralda the fortune teller, Shrunken Ned,..., win the games). And you have to make your room succesfull. But first you have to find the hidden Mickeys.

By the way, everyone who plays vmk and hasn't been on it for a while, go and see it!!! You really have to. Main Street completely transformed into Halloween street! It looks so amazing! Ánd there are some new rooms open in Tomorrowland and Frontierland (including a haunted mansion room that will lead to the upcoming game!!!!)

Special event this weekend by the way, some kind of maze (easy, normal and difficult) where you can win prizes. And lots of special things to buy too at the moment, like a mickey pumpkin and more of those things.

I used to be a memeber, when it was first launched. But sort of got frustrated with the speech part. Certain words that you would use every day would be dis allowed.
Plus, my internet connection was slow then.

Today forum member Jake informed me about this and i thought he was joking first but then i went on the VMK newsletter and the news is true.

Over time you've seen our in-Park presence and other parts of VMK go away. You may remember our V.I.P Tours at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, or our in-Park Quest. We didn't stop doing those things because we don't love the game or our Guests, but because the time to run those promotions ended.
At Disney we're still committed to building communities and online virtual worlds – and we're looking forward to providing you the opportunity to enjoy other exciting new experiences.
Don't look at VMK ending as a bad thing – think of it as a new beginning, a chance to explore something fresh and new! Think of it like school: You don't want to leave your old friends, but still, the time has come to graduate and move onto another great adventure.
In the time since we've launched VMK, we've seen many players come and go, and we're hoping you will graduate from VMK too – in particular, to games like Pirates of the Caribbean Online, Disney's ToonTown Online, Club Penguin and the upcoming Fairies and Cars online virtual worlds. We think you'll find you enjoy those just as much as VMK – if not more.
In the meantime, VMK will run like it always has, with great events and new items every week until we close – we might even fit in one or two more surprises along the way (of the virtual item kind).
So what's going to happen to the VMK Staff when VMK closes? Well, we're all moving onto other projects here at Disney and positively looking ahead to the future. Me and a few other team members have already moved to other projects (but are still making sure VMK is running smoothly until it closes).
I know that this is sad news for you, but we're all thankful we've had the opportunity to enjoy the game for as long as we did. Just know there are even cooler things on the horizon ahead, for you as players and for us as game creators. So as my good friend Captain Jack Sparrow would say...

What will happen to the game and the website?
The website will remain up for a few weeks to let people know what has happened, but you will not be able to log into the game after May 21th, 2008.
What will happen to all my virtual stuff in VMK?
Since the virtual items live only in VMK, you won't be able to access your VMK items or take them with you to another Disney Online Virtual World.
I just cant believe this, its such a fun online game and its SO POPULAR. Even though they give you answer you still think why would they get rid of such a popular thing :(

Although the game will be missed by a lot of fans, the give reason of closure is a pretty logical decission. Like stated, the game was part of a promotional campaign. Often there's a given budget for such campaigns. Keep the game running while the campaign is over will cost the company money (for developping new game parts and maintenance on servers, etc.) while getting nothing in return (unless they would charge you for your membership). And in this case, happy faces don't bring in any money... well, not like DVDs do... :P

Never mind... I'm making a huge disneyland castle poster to go on my wall! Its on a peice of paper thats the size of four A3 sheets stuck together (My dad found loads of it in the loft!)

When I was at WDW in 2006 there was tons of posters and even a few computers down Main Street with VMK on it so I got addicted to playing it.
Agh no! You guys got me all interested and excited and they're not accepting any new players so I can't even go and see what all the commotion is about :-({|=
