Title: Wishes - Nighttime Spectacular
Post by: Kristof on April 17, 2005, 06:45:27 PM
Wishes Nighttime Spectacular
2nd Season: 15th July to 27th August 2006

The 2005 version of the show mixed static projections, moving projections, laser beams and projections with fireworks and classic Disney music.  It is unknown whether the 2006 version will be the exact same show, but it would seem likely the show will remain mostly the same.

Original post by raptor1982:

DLRPmagazine has some information about the new fireworks show:

I've translated the most important part:

Francois Leroux, Vice-president of Spectacles at DLRP, has made clar on Bel-RTL and Fun Radio Belgium that Wishes will not be the same as the American version.  It will be more than a fireworks show.  Pyrotechnic effects, light effects , projections on big screens and other surprises will charm the visitors of Disneyland.

The narratoin will be bi-languaged: French and English, but that decision hasn't been made yet.

I wonder where they'll put those screens.

Thanks for translating the most important things!
It sounds very good, indeed i'm wondering too where these screens will be put. But i think they will find a way for it.
I really want to go and see this show!!!

Arrgh!  This is sounding better and better all the time!  With most of the music from WDW aswell, this is just unmissable... shame I might just have to miss it then...  :(

I wonder if they'll have some of the same fireworks as WDW though?  Like the wishing star or those long white ones which shoot up from the ground (and they use all all the publicity photos for the WDW show)...

Let's hope so! From what i've seen on videos from the American version, it looked amazing!!!

Yeah, it really is a beautiful show.  The first video I saw didn't make it look too good, but then Kris sent me another and it blew me away.

Another "I wonder" to throw in here - I wonder if they'll have the fireworks around the park aswell, like in WDW?  Or could that be expecting just a bit too much?

I think this show could be better than Tink's Fantasy In The Sky anyway.  It will hopefully be miles better, but I do love Tink's so it will take a surprising amount of effort to beat it in my mind.

I'm really looking forward to see Wishes in DLP. Saw it in WDW last summer and it looked amazing. Really liked that song. Remember that there were some projections on the castle itself (like the magic mirror from snow white).

Just announced on the official parade & show times page (//http://www.disneylandparis.com/uk/disneyland_park/parades_and_shows/parade_schedule.htm), Wishes will play at 11.15pm (23.15) every night, with Fantillusion playing at 10.30pm (22.30).

It seems quite late, or is it just the same as Tink's Fireworks last year?  :?

Also, the WWODP will play at 7pm every day...

Post by: Jorien on May 30, 2005, 04:00:16 PM
That's late indeed, what time does the park close then? I thought eleven o'clock. But that can't be, when Wishes is fifteen minutes later.

Can't wait to see it all!!!  :D

Cool, that would mean that the attractions will open that late too!  :D
Title:
Post by: Anthony on May 30, 2005, 06:43:43 PM
^ It might do, or it might mean that the park will close at 11pm except for Main Street...

I can't find last summer's map so I've not been able to look at the times for Tink's Fireworks last year.  It may have been the same, but I'm sure I remember that in 2000 (the only time I've actually been there during the summer) the fireworks were at 10.45pm...  :?

I suppose the longer they keep people waiting in the park the more likely they are to buy things from the shops and get something to eat/drink!  :D

It's still very very strange, though, to have WDS close at 6pm (!) then have DLP close so many hours later at around 11.30pm or even 12am!

Does anyone know untill when "Wishes" will be held at DLRP? Since i cant join a few of my friends the 16th of July, i am thinking off going to DLRP in August, but will Wishes still be there too? I mean, that would be my Über Main goal to visit the parc this time. :D (not that i need a reason to visit the parc though, I just love to be there without reason too :) )

Don't worry wishes shall be shown every night till the 28th August so don't worry you will not miss it if you go in August  .

Thats good news. I really expect something from it. Since they say it is a different show, compared to the American one. Now all i have to do is find a date to go and the money to finance it :P

Does anyone else reckon it's gonna do something during the show?  Light up perhaps?  :o   If it doesn't then it'll be a bit pointless during the show...

Yeah, I shouldn't email people when I'm worked up about things and just type random comments...

I'm still in love with this decoration though, and it seems pretty much everyone is.  For once, a Central Plaza decoration that adds to the view of the castle rather than takes it away!  :D

As many other people on various forums have said, the fact that they're putting it in 3 weeks ahead means it must play quite a part in the show - OR they simply want it finished by the start of July...  It's interesting, though, that it doesn't take them that long to construct the Central Plaza Halloween pumpkin and that has make-up workshops inside plus lights on the outside...  :)

Posted by Grandmath on Disney Central Plaza forum:

Quoteils ont mis des faux rochers près du chateau pour cacher les projecteurs du show, et eux ils sont super moches

It says that fake rocks have been put near the castle to hide the projectors.  But Grandmath says they look ugly.

Oh rocks now, god Disneyland Resort Paris are trying, well I don't mind ugly rocks since they usually look ugly since its a rock :P .  Well at least the wishes logo makes up for it  .  This really gets me excited, projectors and big logo in the middle of Central Plaza, I so much can't wait for this show now. :D   Still want to kill jiminy though  .

Here's in an interview about Wishes in the latest Envie de +

Interview with François Leroux, Vice-President of Spectacles and Christophe Leclercq, show director of this fabulous fireworks, hosted by Jiminy Cricket and the Blue Fairy.

When and where was Wishes developped?
Wiqhes was created in 2003 bij Disney Creative Entertainment in California for the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World, Florida.

How many people worked on the project in France?
We have been working over a year to adapt and especially create a new version of Wishes.  A team of over 30 persons are working daily on the project.

What different crews worked on this project?
Producers, Creative Directors, Musical Directors, Image Creators, Lightning, Pyrotechnics, show directors, technicians and other tehcnical opertional sources.

Where and how where the rehersals helt of the spectacle? The rehersals were helt in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle in june of this year.  The fireworks is 8 minutes long.  Ofcourse, these rehersals were secretely done to preserve the mystery around this new spectacle...  Of the record, the spectacle differces by using projections on the castle.

Will Disney Characters be included in this spectacle?
Yes ofcourse, but not in any way you can imagine.

Will Wishes return in 2006?
For the moment is Wishes a spectacle in honour of the 50th anniversary of Disneyland California.  But if the spectacle has the expected succes, we will be more than happy to bring the show experience back.

Thankyou!  I've been waiting for someone to copy up that interview from Envi de +.  :D

The 8mins length is just right - I timed it with the original WDW soundtrack and without the villains section the show is about 8mins 30secs, so I guess all they're doing is cutting out that middle section and mixing the two ends together in the middle.

It's also interesting that they're going to decide whether to bring it back based on guest reaction.  I'm betting they most definately will.

^^ I don't think you even need to tell us to do that!

The logo on Central Plaza is now complete:

It looks a lot nicer with the grass there now, but it's a shame they couldn't have put those signs just a little bit further round...

Apparently the projectors for images on the castle are inside the logo, which means the middle of the hub will probably be closed during the fireworks, which will work out well because people won't be able to jump on the logo!  :D

The fake rocks, which IMO look pretty good.  They're very much in the style as those already around the castle, and I think they've done an excellent job with them!  :)

According to various sources, the laser projections come from the roofs of Main Street, though I can't think where in the show they would use lasers...  :? Any ideas?

Here are the first links of a complete video of Wishes! By a French fan, posted on DLRPmagazine.com. And i got them from DLP.info posted by Joost.

What do you think of it?
This is my answer i posted on dlp.info:

Okay......it's not Wishes!
When you compare it to the WDW version, then this a big disappointment. Nothing of the great fireworks that i would have loved to see at DLRP too, is here to be seen.
Bút if you just look at it as a show (not just as fireworks) then i think it looks good, it's just completely different than the WDW version. And i think when you are there, with the music, the projections, the fireworks and just the whole atmosphere..then it still will be a great show to watch!

I still can't wait to see it for myself, and i know i will enjoy it!!!

Found another link of a Wishes video, a compilation of the whole show. It's from Sven's website. He's a castmember, so i think this video is from the 15th.

http://users.pandora.be/patscompany/Dis ... ishes!.wmv (http://users.pandora.be/patscompany/DisneySite/wishes/wishes!.wmv)

On this video you can see the projections on the castle a bit better. I have to say that i really like those projections.

OK, here I go!

This show is what I've expected!  Low on the fireworks but lots more creativity with lightning effects and projections!  I think DLRP has done a great job with all the problems that daily fireworks create in Marne-La-Vallée!  Remember, the use of fireworks is very, very limited due to the surrounding villages!

Wishes is nothing big, but sweet and creative and fits in our park!

Nice to hear that Raptor! At least someone who has seen it that is positive about it.
From what i've seen on the videos i like it too, okay...it's indeed not a big fireworks. But why does it have to be exactly the same as the WDW version. I think DLRP handled it really well!

Looking forward to seeing it in a few weeks!!!

Post by: flor on July 19, 2005, 03:44:23 PM
I just love it.
Especially the fact my two favo characters are present: Maleficent and Aladdin.
It's something completely different as Tink's fireworks. You can't compare those two things.
Wishes is a sound and light show and not only a fireworks show.
I can't judge about the WDW version yet, I will be able to do that in September. So I won't be negative about Paris.

It's so nice to see people being positive about it, unlike on one forum  .  I think really the 2 look so different, but with the same track, in a way makes me want to visit WDW to see the other more firework version, now only 21 days till I see paris version :D .

Well, after seeing the show on the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th I think I'm just about ready to give my opinion...

I... LOVE IT!

Even though they cut out the IMO best part of the music - "Go The Distance", it's still a fantastic show.  As has been said, the emphasis is more on an all-round show and a more complete experience rather than just loads of fireworks.  The laser effects are simply incredible.  Those opening outlines around the castle are superb and then the sparkling from the Blue Fairy, thunderbolts, etc. are so cool.  And as if I hadn't enjoyed the show enough they had to go and really surprise me with the beautiful Wishes laser logo projection at the end!

So overall, it's absolutely nothing like the WDW version in terms of visuals.  Maybe there are a few nods to it, like the very sparkly gold fireworks, but overall Paris have definately made it their own.  It was probably an incredibly wise decision to spend the budget for this show on things like laser and image projections - these are things that can be used again and again, night after night - and for many years to come.  That way, they can use them again in following years - the lasers in particular are way more flexible than I'd imagined.

The only things I don't like about the show are:
- No "Go The Distance" section
- The Park Closing announcement right after the show is rather unmagical, but having said that I guess it is quite necessary...
- NO CD!!!! ARRGHH!  The amount of times I looked in Town Square Photography and The Storybook Store for a CD...  :x

But apart from those few minor bad points it's beautiful.  I loved it more and more each night, to the point that now, tonight, I'm having major withdrawal symptoms from not seeing it.  I think I might go and watch back one of the 3 videos I got of it...

EDIT: How could I write all of that without mentioning the first night of Wishes, when it started just after 23:25?!   I found it really funny that the show started so late on its first night after all those test runs.  Anyone else who was there will have heard the impatient slow clap that went around Central Plaza... unfortunately it seemed to block out an announcement apologising for the delay...    :D

But thanks to your video, wich is great ! =D>  I saw it. I love everything of it. It's a fantastic show with a wonderful soundtrack ( which I will now never ever forget) and it has very nice projections and I also like the fireworks. The amount of laughter in the "Fan Camp" on the 17th was hilarious. Lots of people SITTING in front of the castle were laughing, joking, screaming sarcastically. I did feel embarassed shwoing a non-Disney fan the fireworks after so much hype, but at least the effects were great.

Shame they skipped that music too Baloo, Go The Distance is just made for fireworks!

Along with the random laughter, there were some rather strange "Istanbul" chants and also some cheers when they persauded a CM to move the "Wishes... Fantasyland is closing early" sign out of the way so it did not obstruct our view  :P

Haha!  You can actually get a really excellent view of the show from there, but only if you manage to be a bit sneaky and gradually work your way into the crowd until you've got a perfect view of the castle between the trees!

It did seem really odd though - Are they fake trees?  Have Disney done something to them which has meant they don't know what season it is?  They did still have a few leaves left on them though, so perhaps they think its autumn already?!  Let's hope they don't turn orange before the end of Summer Magic then!   btw, YES I am/was thinking about them too much...

Just incase you all think I'm crazy... I'VE GOT PROOF!

I didn't actually take the photo just to show the winter trees, but I'm glad I took it anyway...

Also, are those other trees around Central Plaza new?  They're very interesting to look at, I don't think I've ever seen ones like them before - they kinda have loads of leaves all over every branch... (you can see them in the photo above) :? They add a lot of greenery though, it's just that I've never seen them before!

Help! I think I'm starting to take an interest in gardening!

OMG!!!! Now you already start showing pictures of those trees!!! Did you do anything else there at DLRP except looking at trees????????          :P

But i believe you!!!! .........can't get around that piece of proof can i?
It's indeed a very weird tree!

Not unless you find out that I digitally altered the tree and painstakingly removed each and every leaf...

I think the couple of trees there with no leaves stood out even more though because the gardens across the rest of the resort looked so incredibly beautiful.  I'm not exaggerating either, they just looked WOAH!   in some places.  I suppose with my last visit being in December, the difference was way more noticeable...

Any other newfound gardeners out there, you should make sure to check out Alice's Curious Labyrinth, "it's a small world" and Main Street in particular.

Edit: As a Mod, I feel I should put the  :offtopic: symbol in here myself.  If I've got any more amazing stories about the gardens in DLRP, then I'll start a new thread, I promise!

This is simple...

The tree is dead because Jiminy has added his "magic touch" to it. He seems to curse things. The idea of squirting him with a water pistol as he passed down Main Street on a car actually would have been therapeutic I believe

As for the new trees/bushes they are very interesting. I hope they stay to add that much-loved grennery in DLRP. To the Wishes sign for a moment, is that creased line seperating the blue and the white (the the left of Jiminy) actually meant to resemble the Blue Fairy? Am I trying to read too much into such a detailed image here?  :P

It's now safe to say that Wishes WILL be back in 2006!!!  :D  :D

Images of the show have been added to Extraordinet and dates have been confirmed as the full length of Summer Magic - that's 14th July to 27th August - with no mention of "only on weekends" (so far).  :D

The fireworks were fine!  They just need to add more fireworks, like the Halloween fireworks which were quite loud.

That's what I meant... plenty more fireworks needed if they still want to call it a firework displays still.

ExtraOrdinet, the DLRP press visuals/info site, has just sent out a newsletter saying Key Visuals for Wishes will soon be available...

So how many people would agree with me that it *must* be back next year, then?  :D

Phew Im glad wishes will be back in 2006... I was totally in love with it! It was fab, but I agree they should include more fireworks, though keeping the single Wish on its own... that adds the magic I think.
Title:
Post by: Anthony on April 26, 2006, 03:27:55 PM
So, finally, after a long wait... in anticipation of the second season of Wishes, DLRP have produced a rather nice new "key visual" for use in publicity, travel brochures, etc.  Here it is:

and I added the logo (rather badly, lol) to see what it'd look like:

What do you think?

I really like it.  It looks very professional, very high quality and excellently designed.  I'm very pleased with the design because it actually takes the emphasis away from the fireworks and onto the projections.  Some people are bound to be annoyed that they show a large firework at the top of the image though, since they weren't used in the 2005 show.  Perhaps they'll add a few in for 2006?  :)
Title:
Post by: Kris on May 01, 2006, 03:22:55 AM
I'M FURIOUS AT THE BIG FIREWORK! Or maybe it is a sign lol?

I personally do not like the design as the Blue Fairy looks VERY flat and the red light on the castle looks so false. It's nice, but looks very fake to me. The colours are quite dull and boring and there isn't a wow-factor. Surely a mock-up of the golden fan design would have filled the picture/looked nicer?

To be honest, Wishes at WDW is very boring.  It's just the music with (I have to admit amazing) fireworks, but that's it.  The projections in our version makes it more Disney-friendly.
Title:
Post by: Kris on June 03, 2006, 02:10:34 PM
We definately get the award for the best Castle display in a Disney firework show, I'll give them that. Just if we have the amount of fireworks the recent Tinks show had, it would be great
Title:
Post by: experiment627 on June 03, 2006, 04:02:32 PM
I'm not actually sure if a good nighttime show needs a lot of pyro... but that's just me.

One huge problem though with the way "Wishes" is presented at Disneyland Paris: you really have to stand on Central Plaza with a clear view of the Chateau to enjoy the show...
Title:
Post by: Kris on June 04, 2006, 03:52:21 PM
A good nighttime show show doesn't need a lot of pyros, you're right, but if you tell someone it's going to be a "firewoks spectacular", you expect a few more fireworks.

The view problem Wishes has is actually something I've never considered as I always watch firework displays from near the centre of Central Plaza. Does it really get that full up behind so people can;t get a view? As it happens, the fireworks look bigger the further back you stand, so it's not all bad.
Title:
Post by: experiment627 on June 04, 2006, 06:14:56 PM
Well, the pyros might look bigger standing further down Main Street - but the projections sure aren't.   (Especially the very nice projection of Jiminy is very hard to see from further away.)

And the gazillion people in front you are not really helping.
Title:
Post by: Kris on June 05, 2006, 02:49:35 AM
That must really suck with the cheering and raving crowds. They must be waving their arms all over the place in excitement. I always see Fanti from the centre/front of Central Plaza so it's easy to find a space for the fireworks  8)

thats the same place i view fanti but during xmas i decided to see all of the floats pop up asnd saw it on at the bottem of main street. but i can go off topic about that for ages! But at WDW u can get a great view of spectro and wishes just on the left side of centeral plaza to Liberty Square.

Wishes will be performed at 23.00 / 11pm this year, that's 15mins earlier than last year.  They obviously want people to stop hanging around in the park so long this year.

Nice flowers indeed. In the summer and in spring both the parks look at their best.  8)

By the way; imagine that we would have had the Partners Statue at our hub. This would mean Wishes in another form, Enchanted Fairytale Ceremony in another form, no huge pumpkin during Halloween and so on.
Although the Partners Statue would be really nice in front of our Chateau, we have the advantage over the other Disneyland style parks that we can use our hub.

François Leroux talks about this year's Wishes in the new Envie de + (//http://www.disneylandparis.com/fr/passeport_annuel/adh/tes.htm):

François Leroux est le vice-président Spectacles de Disneyland® Resort
Paris.

Why bring Wishes back for 2006?
Because it was an enormous success, of course!  Did you know that the version presented at Disneyland Resort Paris is the only one of all the Disney Parks in the world to make use of laser effects and projections on Sleeping Beauty Castle?  Wishes is much more than a simple fireworks show, it's a sound and light show.  And this year, we've taken it even further by adding more special effects.  Those who discovered it last year are going to find it even more magical.  As for the others, they must truly make sure not to miss Wishes.
Title:
Post by: Kristof on June 30, 2006, 02:56:01 PM
Well, now that sounds promising.
Title:
Post by: Anthony on June 30, 2006, 03:08:55 PM
Yeah, it's a shame he didn't say "we've added more fireworks" instead of "we've added more special effects".

Hopefully they'll clean up a few of the effects though.  Some we're a bit amateurish, like Aladdin flying across the castle and Jiminy floating downwards.  The static ones looked much better.
Title:
Post by: Kris on June 30, 2006, 08:43:46 PM
Well I'm glad there are some changes. I can only hope that the projections show movement and if they do, they are not wobbly lke Jiminy or the "magical" carpet ride. Not sure if this annoys anyone else, but I found the timing of the lights behind the castle irritating... the ones that show an outline of the chateau (such as the blue ones in the broomsticks scene).

Such a tiny feature I know, but they were not in sync with the projection timing and just seemed odd to me. Someone tell me to get a life
Title:

Get a life  :D
Title:
Post by: Anthony on June 30, 2006, 10:11:04 PM
Yeah, get a life! :P Seriously though, I didn't notice any timing problems with the lights behind the castle.

That Fantasia scene last year was very daring though - it's a looong time without fireworks, and based on one of Disney's less popular films, too.  I think that was the only point in Wishes last year when I could sense the crowd didn't "get" the show.  But I think that was more to do with most people not liking Fantasia rather than there being a problem with the show.

(Incase anyone's wondering, I personally love Fantasia, though that scene is a little slow.  They should have included sorcerer Mickey somehow, since he doesn't feature anywhere in the show...)
Title:
Post by: Kris on July 01, 2006, 02:57:07 PM
Thank you, thank you <bows> I will quickly move on to another topic, but it's not the first time lighting changes seem to be out of sync. It annoyed me in the E.F.C. last year, but I guess other people are more busy watching the characters and routines than the technical side too (like moi).

Good point about no Mickey though. Hadn't even crossed my mind actually. That part of the show IS very slow so I'd like to see a change there and I'd also like an improvement on the starry sequence after the slightly lame single "wishing star". After the audience sees the first firework, they expect more... not just some twinkling lights. That was the point in which I just cringed and went all embarassed last year. Since it had that effect early on, it made it hard for the display to change my reaction to the rest of the show.

So intrigued in the new effects for 2006 however, although a few extra bursts of fireworks would be more welcome :P

Got to see WDW's "Wishes" last night... and to be honest, I found it to be nothing special. Lots of fireworks, which got a bit repetitive after all - though the finale was certainly impressive...

May I say it? I find DLP's Wishes a lot more enjoyable... much more magical, sweeter... and its way of presentation much more imaginative. (Not saying that it *is* actually a better show - it has its shortcomings - but I just prefer it to WDW's fireworks extravaganza...)
Title:
Post by: Anthony on July 03, 2006, 07:47:20 PM
Thanks for the review and comparison, experiment627!  I haven't seen the WDW show for myself, but I think I'd feel the same if I did see it.  The Paris version seems to have much more charm and magic to it than the explosion-filled WDW version.

The Central Plaza decoration is back:

But it doesn't seem finished yet.  They've obviously got to add railings to stop people climbing, and I think they need to sort out the starburst from the dot of the "i" aswell... it's a bit messed up.
Title:
Post by: Anthony on July 12, 2006, 08:18:44 PM
This is odd: They've updated the official show & parade times page, but have now removed the 23.00 showtime for Wishes and replaced it with the text: "A spectacular finale to Disney's Fantillusion parade."

http://www.disneylandparis.com/uk/disne ... hedule.htm (http://www.disneylandparis.com/uk/disneyland_park/parades_and_shows/parade_schedule.htm)

Does anyone know why?  Perhaps to solve guest flow problems, so that everyone watches Wishes *and* Fantillusion (ie. it clears people out of all the lands)..?
Title:
Post by: Dlrpfan on July 12, 2006, 08:41:00 PM
does that meen that it will be right after fanti or even during it?
Title:
Post by: Anthony on July 12, 2006, 09:35:37 PM
It will be right after Fantillusion - at 23.00 like confirmed earlier (by the time Fanti finishes with its start time of 22.30, it will probably be nearing 23.00).

I just think it's strange they don't give a fireworks showtime for the first year ever...  :?

If (IF!) it's true that there will be no changes, than that's really bad guest-service after all the complaints from last year.

Sigh... I regret it's coming back at all, because it was mend to be a one-year spectacle to celebrate 50 years of Disneyland. It makes last year even less special (if that's even possible) than it used to be.

Did City Hall actually receive complaints from normal guests though, or did the unhappy fans just put their views across so strongly that everyone presumed as much?

I think the public loved Wishes...  They'd probably like a couple more fireworks, true, but the reaction I saw and heard myself throughout and at the end of the show was proof enough for me that Wishes *was* a success, and *is* popular.

Allright no changing of Wishes this year. That's sad. I really like Wishes as it is in Paris. But I still thought they would impress it a bit. But maybe they will add something new to it next year ? It's the 15th anniversary they really should change it then.
Title:
Post by: Anthony on July 16, 2006, 04:18:17 PM
It definitely has more fireworks this year than last.  I've not watched my 2005 video in a while, but I've just been reading this morning on lots french forums that they've definitely added in more fireworks and adjusted some.

The photos on DLRP.fr don't have Jiminy on any of them - has he been removed, or did his projection fail or something?  :?

You're right though Disneyana that they should do something a bit special for next year. It would be interesting to see how Wishes would work in 2007 anyway, with those character decorations on the castle...

A quick run down of the changes, there may be more that I've missed.

There a  lots more fireworks used for the opening wishes 1min 40seconds in.

Even more are used for the wishes at 2.06.

During the princess wishes, Ariel has some fireworks for the first time and Peter Pan has extra this year.

The Genie segment at 3mins 40, has added a large amount of whistling fireworks together with all the ones used last year for this part of the show.

The Fantasia segment (at 4.30) uses small fireworks for first time.

At 5mins 20secs the Queens Evil Spiel is now accompanied by fireworks, unlike last year.

At 8.00 there are some extra fireworks for the final few wishes.

And it appears the very last explosion of fireworks is much higher this season and looks much more impressive.

Watching this years and last years shows together, it is clear that this year is a much better show! And it looks like the posters are describing it as a Sound and Light show...

//http://www.dlrp.fr/news/upload/dlp/wishes/2006/150706/wishes04.jpg

So with all these added fireworks regular guests will be happy I'm sure.

I realised after this weekend what a Guest Flow nightmare this show is.  We were standing near the Castle Stage for Fantillusion.  After the parade, everyone had to go to the entrance of Discoveryland, but people ofcourse disagreed, because they had a good view on the castle.  At the end Guest Flow was screaming at each other and blaming each other in front of all the Guests. I lost my tripod in the mid of this chaos, so went to one of the Guest Flow who answered me: I don't care, go to Discoveryland.  :?

(Luckily I saw a Guest Flow friend after Wishes who told me that a collegue brought the tripod to City Hall...)
Title:

That's not much incentive for the resort to carry on doing nightly fireworks, is it? :( Maybe they need an extra line in the park guides saying "you must be in front of the castle to get a good view of this show", to get people out of fantasyland.  Or maybe they should just run Fanti 15mins earlier?

Quote from: "raptor1982"I realised after this weekend what a Guest Flow nightmare this show is.

This problem is nothing new - for years now, Fantasyland is being evacuated before the fireworks can start.
Guest Flow is pressured for the safety of guests as well as time - which explains the rather harsh tone after you having lost your tripod. In that moment, the CM just hasn't any time to care.

The worst case scenario is that they don't get all of the guests out Fantasy- & Adventureland by 23:00 ... and Disney only has a couple of minutes each night to start the fireworks. Otherwise they might get into trouble for launching them too late. The neighbours don't like that. (And considering how loud even DLP's shells can be, I don't blame them.)

And now, having Fantillusion a couple of minutes earlier is not an option either. Especially in the month of July, it's just dark enough at 22:30 to show the parade.

I've always been a fan of fireworks and lightshows,Wishes was simply great. It's a live show ,there can always be part that  doesn't go according to plan but one won't hear me complaining about this.
The flow of the audience can be a nightmare,we watched the show in front of the castle but it's still hard to get to the exit even when everyone has to leave the park. :(
