What do you think will be next year's theme? Any ideas or suggestions?? :D
A renewed 'NeedMagic?' would be nice... or an 'adult' campaign that aimes to a more grown up audience... teenagers, parents... advertising the rollercoasters, the nighttime entertainement, the Welness & Spa, rather then only directing to kids...

That would be great... The grown up disney campaign ;)
Yeah, but that doesn't really count as a theme? A theme is like "Year of a Million Dreams" or "The 15th Anniversary" or '"100 Years of Magic"!
What about 80 years of Mickey :)

I dont think there should be a theme next year.
I'm sure they cant afford a new themes (parade/shows etc) every year so they need to come up with a new kindof baseline (including daytime/christmas/halloween parades) to work from for a number of years.
DLRP is having a great year this year, next year needs to be more about sustainability for the coming years I think :)
15th Anniversary +1 :P
Quote from: "Baloo"15th Anniversary +1 :P
It's called the 16th  :P
It would be funny if there was a celebration every year - There would have a big "16" sign on the castle, with lots of 16th decorations all over the park. Brand new attractions for the 16th Anniversary (Although I suppose that's what's going to happen with TOT and Stitch). :P And then when that's finished it would be the 17th...

They pretty much do this at WDW, just hide it behind names like "Year of a Million Dreams" and "100 Years of magic" or steal Disneyland's 50th.
I hope DLRP doesn't have continual celebrations. I'm beginning to wonder already how on earth they're going to equal this for the 20th.
Angela's idea is pretty good though... :ears:
how do u find Dreams Will Come True or Magical Years Of Dreams
but what would it contain? That's actually what I meant with the adult campaign... you could call it what you like but I'd like to see a new theme concept, just like eg. need magic? but aiming to an older target group...
let's say for example: 'magic leisure', being the central theme of the coming year, highlighting the welness and spa, the more expensive hotels and suites, the shopping in the parks, village, hurricanes, la Vallée Outlet Shopping, the Thrillrides (especially whith TOT opening: main target group: teenagers en young adults), Gaumont Theather... I actually think it could be a central theme during one year.
again, the name could be anything but it could be a central theme, containing a lot, where as, 'need magic?' was very nice but did it really contain a special concept? I dunno, could somebody describe the Needmagic? concept?
Do you think it will be in line with any other theme from the US, like The Happiest Celebration on Earth??
Next years theme... hmm, how about year of inventions or something like that? that'd be pretty cool.
I don't think there will be a theme next year. They will focuse on the Tower of Terror, I hope there will be a good advertising campain, like the Space Mountain one. Everyone in Europe knows Space Mountain, and everyone knows this attraction is at Disneyland Paris.
But what about the year after the Tower of Terror-year? There will be no new attraction (or construction have to start now), now new parade,....so what will they advertise as new addition for 2009? Maybe a big new show in Chapparal Stage. Maybe a rework of the Production Courtyard, but they can't use that to advertise for the general public.
I think they should pick a film every year for there theme
I think "YEAR OF A MILLION THRILLS" would be nice.
I think next years theme at least for WDS shout be the tower of terror so the park could have a spooky feel to it!!!
:minnie: how about a disney pixar theme? :mickey1:
Quote from: "treble":minnie: how about a disney pixar theme? :mickey1:
No, no, no!
There is far too much reliance already from the Walt Disney Company on Pixar.
Disney were great before Pixar, and at it's best - Mickey and the gang, the Princess movies, Pooh and co. - Disney is far better than Pixar.
I enjoy the Pixar movies, but Disney is far more than just Pixar, and all of Disney should be celebrated, and in particular what made Disney famous - 2D animation!
but the pixar themed disney on ice have been so popular and as much as i love mickey and minnie other characters do need to be given a chance. if not pixar how about the film classics series :cheshire_bounce:
And to be fair to pixar most newer disney films are now pixar!!!
No they aren't!
Pixar have only released 8 full length films and a handful of shorts, compared to the wealth of material which Disney has released over the years. I'm sick and tired of Pixar taking over Disney.
Give me Mickey and the gang, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Pinocchio, Bambi, Peter Pan, Mary Poppins, Cinderella etc, etc, any day over Pixar.
I'm getting a bit fed up of CGI movies and I can't wait for Disney to really get back into traditional 2D animation which made them famous.
I don't think they'd ever have a Pixar theme anyway, because Disney realise how popular Mickey and Co and the Princesses and the classics are, they almost always take prominence in marketing campaigns, and that's something I'm thankful for.
Perhaps some of you younger forum members don't appreciate quite how important the Disney Classics are, and why some people will always prefer them to Pixar's output.
If Pixar took over DLRP, then I wouldn't have any interest in going.
I love all the Pixar films, I think that would be a really cool film actually..
or how about a Tron theme?! dont quite know how that would work though. lol
belive me i am not young and i am 8 films off completing my classics collections however my 8 year old loves jessie just as much as minnie. disneyland themselves have always said children come first. i personally would love to see mickey dressed as woody. it would make a great collecters item, and i know my goofy collecting nephew would kill for a goofy beanie dressed as buzz. but if you really hate the idea of a pixar theme may i suggest it's a small world. why should the usa have all the merchandise :lilo:
Treble, all the classics dressed up and pixar characters would be an excellent form of Merchandise, I know I would buy it! Imagine stitch as Zurg, now that would be funny.
:offtopic: i love stitch so much i would buy him wearing a liverpool shirt - i would have to sew a united badge on him when i got home though. stitch as other characters has work very well in asia. :tink: but yes mickey and friends dressed as pixar would fly off the shelves
Pixar gets far too much exposure!
Has to be said, Pixar never got an Oscar nomination for Best Movie!
And why should the thoughts of older fans and adults be ignored. It's been said already on these boards by other people that the demographic of visitors going to DLRP includes many adults, and adults going alone without children.
The resort needs to be marketed towards all age groups and all demographics.
I can't see Buzz Lightyear and co having the same appeal 70 years on that Snow White does.
But I doubt it's ever going to happen, Disney know the popularity of Mickey and the Princesses etc., and they wouldn't let a MINOR element of Disney like Pixar take over their resorts to the extent you're suggesting.
I'm not against the idea of doing characters dressed as Pixar characters, that's no different to Minnie dressed as the Princesses, the Star Wars themed stuff in the US parks or the Pirates themed stuff - but they wouldn't let Pixar take over the theme of the whole park for a whole year. It would be ridiculous.
I doubt they'll be an overriding theme next year. No doubt they'll be pushing the Tower and Stitch Encounter. And it could be argued that Pixar has had it's moment of glory this year with Cars Race Rally, Crush's Coaster and Ratatouille. We certainly don't need an overexposure of Pixar again next year.
No point arguing it really, it's never going to happen - they'll never push aside the famous five, the princesses and pirates. Like Pixar, they're too popular. And it goes against the whole idea of Disneyland of having 5 distinct themed lands. I think Pixar fits in quite nicely in Walt Disney Studios, but don't think it fits as well in Disneyland Park (Buzz Lightyear is okay I suppose in Discoveryland but to be honest, I preferred the Jules Verne theater - I forget what the film was called). I was quite unimpressed with Buzz Lightyear's Laser Blast. I don't really see any Pixar attractions fitting in comfortably in Frontierland, Fantasyland or Adventureland. And with the emphasis on Classic Disney in Disneyland, and more Pixar in the Studio's, it would be wrong to have Pixar as a main theme covering the whole resort.
I like the pixar movies, and sorry dark prince I don't have the feeling that Disney puts too much attention to Pixar. You should not forget that Disney earned a lot of money and success with the Pixar movies. But I do prefer the 2D classic animation more too. Nut a Pixar theme would be nice, but more for the WDS. I would love to see a whole theme about Toy Story. And for Disneyland Park it would be great to see a theme about the Fab 5 only. In the last years they fixed their attention a lot to the Princesses. Now it's time again for Mickey and his pals.
Do the math - 8 films versus over 40 films.
It's crazy to have a Pixar theme.
Really? Disneyland has always followed the current trends - Davy Crockett, space travel, Star Wars, Indy, etc. etc. so why is Pixar any different?
It's not like Disney themselves have made any vaguely good animated films in the last 7 years... unless we have a "year of beating Stitch to death" yet again.
They may be "just" 8 films, but they're eight films which have all been incredibly popular and critically acclaimed. Disneyland would be idiots if they didn't make the most of that.
A "Year of Pixar" is the best idea we've had yet, but maybe they should save it. I personally think 2008 should just be "Year of Walt Disney Studios" or something. They can't overpower ToT.
I don't think they'll use Pixar next year, but just to annoy Dark_Prince further, here are some ideas:
- Pixar Characters' Express
A chugging express train rolls into Main Street, U.S.A. carring the biggest names in Pixar animation!
- Pixarabration
A stunning nighttime illumations show, lighting the collection of classic Pixar character statues across Sleeping Beauty Castle.
- Pixar Studio
Toon Studio is renamed for the year, the hub of the entire celebration.
- Pixarmagique
A special edition of Animagique.
- "Put that thing back where it came from" Musical On Tour
A new "immersive" street spectacle bringing the songs of the hit musical to the streets of Walt Disney Studios.
- WALL-E Encounter
Stitch is replaced for the year by the loveable robot at Stitch Encounter.
- Rock 'n' Roller Coaster starring Randy Newman
Rock through inversions and a thrilling lightshow to the orchestrations of Randy Newman!
- Moteurs... Lightning!
The vehicles of Moteurs... Action! are transformed to resemble those of the film "Cars".
- Pixar Cinema Parade
Speaks for itself.
- Art of Pixar Animation
All references to Disney are ripped out of the attraction for the year.
- Pixar Celebration Merchandise
Desk lamps, bad hawaiian shirts and endless movie merchandise available throughout the resort.
- Rémy's - A Pixar Restaurant
Replaces Walt's on Main Street.
Is that enough? I can go on...
I wasn't that thrilled with this idea to start with, but it'd give them a lot to work with. It won't be for 2008 though... Maybe if/when TS Mania ever makes it over here?
why wouldn't woody and jessie look the part in frontierland :?: bugs life and cars in adverntureland. monsters inc. could give the small world kids a rest. buzz and the incredibles would of course take over discoveryland. now where to put finding nemo but of course pirates of the caribbean. Ratatouille could run the restuarants.
can't wait for the pixar parade :nemo:
I'm not in the mood for an argument about it and don't particularly appreciate people trying to 'annoy' me at the moment. I think Pixar is overrated and I think taking over the park with Pixar characters is a ridiculous idea. But I've got too much on my mind to get drawn into a debate about a silly idea that will never happen.
:?
would i try to annoy you
Look, I'm not in the mood for this. I was just coming to delete that last post but you beat me to it. I was in an accident a few weeks ago and I've been off work sick for almost 3 weeks now with a whiplash injury. Got problems getting my car back, and I'm up and down a bit with my moods right at the minute - so it isn't a good idea to wind me up. And I'm not out to upset anyone at the moment but I am finding myself on a bit of a short fuse at times.
I just don't think it's fair to take over the entire park with Pixar. I enjoy Pixar's films, but I generally prefer the classics. I think Pixar has had enough exposure this year without it taking over the Resort for a whole year. To my mind, that excludes the people who go who want to see the famous five or the princesses or pirates or whatever else. Fair enough, have a themed weekend or two, but not the whole year.
The 15th anniversary is just an anniversary celebration anyway. I don't think you need a specific theme, the theme is Disney.
And I don't subscribe to the idea that Star Wars or Indiana Jones have taken over the park at anytime. They have only ever been attractions in small areas of the parks.
I think Pixar has more than enough exposure in the Studio's now. And I think that they should focus a bit more on the rich heritage of Disney for the next attractions rather than shoehorning more Pixar stuff in there.
We've already got:-
Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast
Crush's Coaster
Cars Race Rally
The Incredibles and Monsters Inc have a big presence in the studios
Pixar are incorporated into both parades
I don't see any need for any others.
I know I'm biased on this, but why not focus on more attractions on some of Disney's other big hits.
A new Beauty and the Beast show (perfectly at home in France)
The Little Mermaid dark ride we saw on the DVD
An update of Pirates of the Caribbean like in the US
Or how about an attraction featuring Mickey and the Gang or the Pooh characters
I'd even be interested in seeing the Muppets brought into Disneyland Paris.
I'm all for diversity in the Resort, which is why I'm dead set against Pixar taking over. A lot of people are complaining about the US Parks at the moment precisely because Pixar have gotten to be too dominant, along with Pirates of the Caribbean. Let's not see it happen to DLRP.
i did suggest the classics and i'm really not trying to upset anyone
mickey and friends did have a year-2001 with the toons are coming
how about this-studio park does pixar and disneyland does the classics and no star wars at all :peter:

thanks i was begining to wish i'd never thought of pixar in the first place :lilo:

Haha thanks! As much as I was just being silly to scare anyone worried about this "Pixarisation", a couple of the ideas aren't actually
that far-out.
I'd definitely like to see an updated Animagique for a start. It's surprising in five years they've only altered the show once - if WDS ever joins in with DLP's seasons, they ought to change it around a bit. Imagine the opening sequence of Monsters Inc performed live on stage, or "Friend Like Me" in Aladdin's cave of wonders... There's so much they could do. A Halloween version would be amazing. And of course whatever year-long event they follow up the 15th with (whether in 2008 or 2009), a "rethemed" Animagique could be part of that.
Also, they really could refit Disney Cinema Parade with a bit more detail on its floats as part of a celebration. I know Patmagic was horrified when people (incl. me) said it looked "old" in the other topic, and it is still a very nice parade. It just lacks that pure quality finish of OUADP now, so they could add a bit of extra magic, retheme some of the more dull floats (Donald's is empty, 101 Dalmatians is a bit pointless) and brand it as a "new" parade for the event. Cheap and cheerful.
Compared to DLP's entertainment, they just seem so scared to touch anything at WDS... :?
I need to apologise for my comments above.
I hope you can all understand, I've had some problems over the last few weeks, and I've been a bit sensitive and moody at times. I also got a bit depressed over the past weekend.
Things are starting to swing around a bit now though and I should be getting back to my old self. :)
So watch out Tubbsy and Angela!
Passions ran a bit high about the idea of Pixar taking over the Park. It's not that I hate Pixar, but I do love other aspects of Disney so much, and I think they need to cater for everyone. :)
I don't think the park will have a specific 'theme' as such, but I do think they'll focus on the opening of their new attractions in the studios like tower of terror and stitch encounter.
I think if they do decide to have a theme, it could be something similar to the NeedMagic? promotion, however I agree it would be nice to see the park aim some stuff towards teens and adults, afterall as much as disney is here for kids, it's here for the young at heart!
dlrp-mad :mickey2:
I thought now for a while about a theme and I think with all the additions to the WDS they should focus on them next year. So a theme like "Hooray for Hollywood" would be nice. Of course with a big commercial campaign. I hope that we will see a special TV Spot for TOT like they had for SM. And it would be nice to add some run around Chracters from Hollywood Blockbuster movies like Star Wars and Indiana Jones on Hollywood Boulevard. Adding some new Streetmosphere with a Hollywood Starlet like Marylin Monroe would be nice too.
With all the other parks going big on Pirates I could see a pirates Theme coming, perhaps with an extra show in Adventureland;although I was amazed to see that the Princess dinner at the Auberge isnt really a big hit(but I found it good fun  )
I just don't see them going really big on one big theme. There will always be particular themed things around the park. There's already a lot of Pixar stuff, particularly around the Studio's, and already a lot of themed Pirates merchandise around. But I think that's as it should be. I think a lot of people are mistaking the idea of a theme, with a marketing campaign.
It's not really a theme as such, the theme is Disney, and they should be as inclusive as everything that's Disney as possible. I think this year is a little different with the 15th Anniversary, and that's rightly so. But the point is, how it should be marketed?
i don't think they will do a pirates theme because i think they of already have done that if they wanted to.
if dark prince has his way it won't be pixar.
i think they are re-releasing jungle book next year so the parade at least could be based on that
*************************** :stitch_bounce: ***********************
disney also seem to be slipping the hawaiian theme into a lot of the new stuff lately. :lilo:
what ever it is we just can't wait. only 10 months 28 days and 23 hours to go! :jack:
i think the pixar theme is a great idea. Like someone said disney is always going to put the kids first and as much as my son loves the classic films he has seen he is crazy about toy story and nemo!
I think disney would be mad to put another big theme on next year because it might drown out the fact that ToT is opening. Thats why mini themes would be perfect!
Maybe they could have a mini theme per land? Like toy story as in woodys round up in fronteir land or even spooky encounters like villans and things because of PM, Princess theme in fantasy land, pirates in adventure land that really wouldnt be hard to do they would just have to jazz up whats already there, im not sure about discovery land though, if there wasnt a woody one in FL then a buzz one in discovery
and in the studios stick to terror tower and stitch incounter.
Quote from: "madame_leota"im not sure about discovery land though.
Well, they have Star Wars Weekends in the US. How cool would it be to have Darth Vader, Stormtroopers or Chewbacca wandering around Discoveryland?
yeah now that would be tre cool!!
beable to meet mickey dressed as luke and stuff like that too! good idea
In 1996 i saw Chewbacca and such an Ewok in Discoveryland..
whats star wars charecters doing in dlp there not disney!!!!!!
Neither is Indiana Jones but George Lucas has a long association with Disney Parks.
There is a thread about it here:-

They used to have Darth Vader, Stormtroopers and Chewbacca in Discoveryland a couple of years ago by Star Tours, don't know why they don't any more :?
:D Next year should be the Year of Madness, and it should be dedicated to the Cheshire Cat. And maybe other mad characters, but mostly the Cheshire Cat.
;) You just know you want to see the castle decorated in pink and purple stripes.
:cheshire_bounce:
dark-prince no to pixar but yes to star wars :( come on!!!!!!!!
Yeah, but Star Wars is infinitely better than Pixar.
Actually, if Masamune can have a Cheshire Cat theme, I think I'm going to propose a Belle theme.
We could have the Once Upon a Belle Parade, where every parade features Belle in a different scene from Beauty and the Beast.
Each ride could be given a Beauty and the Beast theme.
Dumbo the Flying Elephant becomes the Mrs. Potts flying teapots. The Mad Hatter's teacups become Chip's whirling tea cups.
Snow White's scary ride becomes the enchanted forest, as Belle is chased by wolves and ultimately rescued by the Beast.
Sleeping Beauty's castle is transformed into the Prince's castle once the spell has been lifted.
Meanwhile, Phantom Manor becomes the enchanted castle, full of magical enchantments.
Candle-abration obviously becomes Cand-Belle-abration. He he, and all the statues on the castle are replaced by characters from Beauty and the Beast.
The Legend of the Lion King is removed, replaced by a new updated version of the old Beauty and the Beast show.
Other rides are given a Beauty and the Beast-twist. As we see space heroine Princess Belle take over Star Tours. Pirate Eliza-Belle Swann in Pirates of the Caribbean. Wild west cowgirl Belle rustles up the action in Big Thunder Mountain. A Lara Croft-esque Belle take over in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Belle.
The studio's wouldn't be immune either. Stitch would have to wait awhile as we get the all knew Belle Encounter. Cheerleader Belle stars in the new High School Musical, with her squad of Princesses, aptly named the Disney Belles.
The studio's parade becomes the Walt Disney Belle Parade.
Animagique features scenes from Beauty and the Beast as Cogsworth and Lumiere take over as hosts, guiding Belle through a world of Disney enchantment.
In fact the whole resort is renamed for the year to Belle Resort Paris.
And all the female castmembers have to wear variations of Belle's outfits.
Yeah, I think we've found next year's theme.
They could even extend it to Disney Village, with Belle's Diner, the Belle Bar, Buffalo Belle's Wild West Show and Planet Belle-ywood.
With Belle-ey dancing?
Now why didn't I think off that? Seems more appropriate for Jasmine to do that.
rofl!! oh dear i think someone gone a little round the bend!! :p
Masamune - i like the idea of having the castle pink and purple stripes!
treble - i do have to agree with you prince saying no pixar but yes star wars is odd! but it would only be a mini theme in discovery land and considering theres a star wars ride there it would fit well (then again theres a buzz ride there 2! :-k )
:offtopic: When i worked in a toy shop we had a star wars day and had people come in dressed as darth and 2 storm troopers. I have to say darth was pretty scary, i would NOT want to bump into him down a dark alley, even if it was just a guy in costume! Come to think of it, even when he took the cosutmes off it was scary really!! :D This little bald bloke with a stupid voice dressed as darth! Funny stuff
Yeah but Star Tours is awesome and Laser Blast is a bit pants.
dark prince i think you have finally lost it. no not because you want belle land (scary part is that it could happen) :( but because you think star wars is better than pixar. next you'll be saying that shrek is better than mickey mouse :jack:
come now lets not start this again shall we? lol
everyone can have their own opinons.
Although buzz is in my opinion one of the best rides in the park!! the ride pix are brilliant :D
I just didn't rate Buzz that much when I was there. I liked the animatronic buzz, but the ride itself is too slow and doesn't really do much, especially for the long queues it has. Prefer a more thrilling, more turbulent ride myself, which is why Star Tours rocks and Buzz is a bit meh.
Wasn't starting anything, just expressing my opinion. :P

i do hate the fact the buzz seems to break down at least 3 times per ride, that did annoy me a bit, BUT if you break down infront of zurg, megga score booster!!
Only thing I ever hated about Star Tours was when a twit sat next to me released his belt and let it fly out his hand and it whacked me on the thumb, very painful. I don't know how I managed to keep myself from falling out with him. :?
what a fool! i was really suprised at star tours the first time i went on it, it flings you about all ways, it was like going on a proper rollercoatser! this is going way off topic but just 1 more thing seems we are on the subject of simulators, the one that was in the tv studio (im sure thats where it was/is) is brilliant, i have never felt so SICK in all my life! me and lisa (donutter) thought yeah come on lets do a REALLY crazy rollercoatser, i wish i had done a milder one!! crikey!
better get back on topic before the mods smack our wrists! ;) lol
I never ever tried that simulator in the studios and it's gone now.
Ooooo ive got a great idea, how about a turn back the time theme, they could bring back some of the old shows and stuff and put the ticket prices down to what they were when the park opened for example or what it was 10 years ago ect (now you see why the turn back the time theme is so good! lol)
then they could reopen the critter coral and pocohontas and that weird mill ride in FL ect ect, and they could have statues like mickey through the years where you can get your pic taken between a steamboat or even plane crazy mickey and now days mickey statue and the same with donald ect
have a clock cleaners thing or something aswell, anyone got any other ideas for turn back the time? They could replace the 15th sign on the castle with a giant clock face with the hands going backwards!! :D:D
 *Stares at Prince's ideas for a Belle Year*
 I think Prince would be right at home in the Year of Madness.
Oh Dark_Prince, I guess I never knew a crazier person than you are ! You're so weird, but in a nice way.
:) i can't wait for pixars' next movie
........starring belle :P
Pixar finally making a decent movie?
:P
Actually, that french girl chef in Ratatouille is kinda cute, they must have modelled her on Belle.
:P
but she'll be dressed as scully
head to toe
M'be Pixar could do Beauty and the Beast!
Now I have this image of Mike singing
Little town
It's a quiet village

Little town
Full of little people
Waking up to say:
Bonjour!

treb - just a word of warning, your not meant to double post so you might get a slap on the wrist :)
:P My ideas for The Year of Madness are much better.
~ Firstly, the castle would be decorated in pink and purple stripes. Special lights would be dotted all over the castle in the shape of Cheshire's grin and his eyes. :D So at night, his grin and his eyes would magically appear randomly all over the castle!
~ The Merlin show at the Sword in the Stone would be changed to the Mad Madame Mim show, where Mim taunts the kids and makes out that no one can pull the sword from the stone.
~ :P There would be a mini parade called the Pink Elephants Parade, and it would feature pink elephants in all shapes and sizes dancing down Main Street to the Pink Elephants on Parade song.
~ There would be a show on the Castle stage that reinacts the Mad Hatter's Tea Party. :D A big table would be set up with lots of chairs, which are filled by audience members who are picked at the beginning, as well as The Mad Hatter, the March Hare and Alice. :o Everyone would have to keep moving down a seat, just like in the film.
~ The horse and carts that go down Main Street would be updated to look like the asylum cart that comes to take crazy old Maurice away.
 I'll add more as they come to me.

Some of ideas aren't actually that bad Masamune, I think that the castle idea is very good :P
It's O.K treble-I knew what you meant.
I love your theme Masamune, but if I got in one of those asylum carts, they might not let me out again!
I did think of doing an Eeyore theme, like Belle and Cheshire Cat. But I got really depressed!
But that did get me thinking... There could be a character with a mile stone brithday next year. Its 70 years since Snow White and the Seven Dwarves was released this year, but you know what I mean.

ahh yeah mr Main Mouse himself is 80 next year right? That would be great, a huge birthday party for mickey!
 snow white premiered on my birth date, but many years earlier!! thats cool!! and then its wide theatrical release was on my sisters bday (donutter's) i dont actualy know all this off the top of my head, im reading it on wikipedia. Im quite proud of that, me and snow white share the same birthday
:P Hehe, thanks guys.
*Is just trying to think of other mad characters to base things around*
~ :D There could be another parade/show that is based around Topsy-Turvy day from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Lots of colours, stilt walkers, jugglers and that sort of thing.
~ Of course, they would finally have to have a Cheshire Cat character running around. He could randomly turn up at Alice's Curious Labyrinth and let the kids chase him around before he eventually stops out the exit (or the 3 chairs outside the exit) for a proper meet and greet.

:mickey2: i think we have our theme. we would love to join mickey on his 80th birthday :mickey2:
I like the idea of the turn back the time theme. Then they could bring back the wonderful show "Le livre de magique". But a big Birthday Party for Mickey would cool too. The idea with the Mickey through the years statues is so cool. For Mickey's Birthday they could decorate the Main Street with it. Some nice banners of him at the lampposts too. And then maybe a little Birthday ceremonie for him, where all his friends come to bring him presents and a cake.
aww yeah that would be lovely, a pirthday party for mickey and totaly stealing masamune's idea  (because its such a good one! :D ) they could get kids from the park to join in his birthday party on the stage! would be so sweet! and the kids get a little present each and a slice of mickeys birthday cake!! :D
they could show plane crazy and steamboat willie and stuff in videopolis and have loads of merch of mickey and co back in the day!!
having turn back the time and mickeys 80th would fit together well so they could do a 2 in 1
i like the kids and cake idea :stitch:

me too^^
Disneyland Paris 10th Birthday celebrations they had a show and chose children from the audience to sit on the cake.

Not a good picture, but Steph is sat on the very left behind Mickey. Steph loved being part of the show. A really simple idea, but it gets al the kids involved.
Then in the parade there was another cake with a child sat with a chef. How cool would that be?

Obviously they'd expand on the ideas.
Quote from: "benjy"I think they should pick a film every year for there theme
I have to agree with you there.
How about a Lion King theme next year.
As the attractions:
SimbabrationJoin Simba and his jungle friends as they start the jungle celebration with music from the 3 films.
Meet-n-Greet Simba & NalaThis may be a bit freaky, Just like Lucky the Dinosaur in Disney's Animal Kingdom, Instead will have Simba & Nala intracting with the guests throughout their meet and greet times.
Well, I'm always surprised that they don't showcase whatever the current Platinum Edition DVD is a bit more at the resort.
Last couple of times I've been, I'd have thought there might have been more to do with Lady and the Tramp, The Little Mermaid and Peter Pan, but they don't seem to bother.
:?

i agree they could do a lot more film related merchandise both in the stores and in the park :pluto:
I remember the early years of DLP. At this time they always had a little parade for the new released cinema movies. There was one for Hercules, Pocahontas and Hunchback of Notre Dame. I don't understand why they were not doing this anymore.
Yeah I also remember those parades, they were absolute fantastic. I loved theme.
I don't understand it either. Does anyone know why they don't do this anymore?
I think it would be great if they would do that again.
So you would have automatically a new theme every year.
Quote from: "TowMater"How about a Lion King theme next year.

Have you tried Dailymotion?
Everyone - There was even a Aliddin, Lion King and Toy Story parades also.
I would love Mickey to be next years celebration! :D
I just think he should be on top of the list for a year :)

no i havent, thanks mater. i will give it a try later
pez are releasing 80 years merchandise including some exclusive disney ones. could this be a clue as to next years theme-especially as a certain mouse is also 80 :-k
Quote from: "benjy"I think they should pick a film every year for there theme
I would love that idear but only for certain periods of time... as I don't think it going on all year would be good as the Characters not from the movie would just look aut pf place... Say if U chose Winnie the Pooh, what about other charcters like say for; Peter Pan :peter: , Cinderella, Mulan, the Incredible family and so on... :lilo: :hercules: :dory: :belle: :bambi: :stitch: :beast: :jack: :nemo: Where would they come in? It's nice to see a bit of every Disney dream while there...
(I'm not trying to be horrible to this point, I just wast to add my view.)

Yer I like this... A big birthday party! and if anyone who goes for their Birthday next year (I AM! :D) Could celebrate with them! Thats Brill!
Well Done!
Disney Dudette :mickey2: XXX 8=0]
I can't really think of a great theme, I've heard some nice ideas. But most of the ideas woul datract Disneyfans, the people that probably come every year anyway, the real challenge would be how to attract people that aren't Disney fans (yet) who don't plan on going there, until thye hear about htis great theme.......
Since the UK Thomas Cook brochure has mentioned it, I can now (finally) officially confirm that next year's theme will be... the 15th Anniversary continued!
Working titel till now:
The Celebration continues ... EN GRAND!
This means that DLRP will celebrate an additional year its 15th anniversary!
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
WOOOOOO! That's great news
So does this mean the decorations will remain untill April 2009?
Great news indeed! But i hope that they will keep up the level of approvements they are now reaching. So i mean the paint jobs, fixing, etc...in my oponion all part of the 15th celebration!
Great theme isn't it! great idea that they want to continue celebrating after this year. Love the idea and I'm sure it will be superb.
Wow that really is a great idea. I just loved all the de3coration and shows so much. So I'm really looking forward to it. But what exactly does it mean. Will next year everything remain like this year and for how long will they continue celebrating ? So maybe I will have the chance to see the christmas candleabration ?
It's great but don't you think it'll go on a bit long!!
It almost seems like the've ran out of ideas so they'll just add another year to a ONE YEAR event!
But it's still great news
QuoteIt almost seems like the've ran out of ideas so they'll just add another year to a ONE YEAR event!
.
No they didn't. There were other ideas up in the air, but they went with the extension because of the high guest satisfactions.
This topic will be closed now, since the new themed year has been confirmed. Discuss the rest of the celebrations in the dedicated topic. :D
