Title: Disney's Halloween Season 2007
Post by: Kristof on June 29, 2007, 10:51:12 PM
This will be the official topic for the Halloween Season 2007 at Disneyland Park.

And the first news is also very good news!  Despite previous reports (which had been confirmed) will the Disney Villains Parade make a return once again!  It will run once a day, likely in the late morning or at noon, so the OUADP will keep its regular performance at 4pm.

So does that mean that the christmas parade will return aswell?

That should be posted in the Christmas topic, right?

Was it only the MP float that was destroyed then? I was under the impression that only a couple were being kept - Cinderella being one of them. Hmm - this is good news though!!!

Brilliant. Even more to see when we're there. :D

I'm wondering is 6 days enough to see it all?

Has anyone got photos from previous parades please? I'd love to show my littlun what to expect when we go. I've found a  few on Photo Magique and the cavalcade on Patmagic, but would be v grateful if anyone has anymore. Thanks :D

Mary Poppins has been remodled for High School Musical, Snow White & Cinderilla might be decorated for the Disney's Villian Parade.

Thats the first time I've seen that parade! It looks wonderful! And very creepy .. ..

But the song that is playing is just dreadful! I was really dissapointed in it, especially after 'Dancin' and 'Dreamed It'.

That's funny... It's Halloween -Lo -Ween is considered by most fans as one of Vasile Sirli's best songs (and my personal favourite) and it has been used at Walt Disney World for a coule of years on a row during the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.  But of course, everyone is allowed to have his/her own opinion.  :)

Agreed the halloween lo ween song is one of my favourites, it's a great track and when you're in the park and it's blaring out of the speakers and the dancers are perfectly intime with everything it's a great magical experience.

     No problem.

Oh, this hasn't been mentioned before, but it's quite obvious already... The giant Pumpkin on Central Plaza will not return this year.  The make-up artists will wonder around the area to paint the children's faces on the spot (like it was done during Kids Carnival).

Good news for the Villains fans, there's going to be a Villains show in front of the castle several times during the day.  If the rumours are true, it will be hosted by Cruella De Ville herself!

Oh it will be the old floats of course...

A daily fireworks display is only during the Summer Season.

The giant pumpkin will not make its return this year, as I already posted in one of the first topics.

A press release was released today. The Villains' show on the Candleabration stage will be called "Disney Villains' Halloween Showtime"...

QuoteA SPOOKTACULAR HALLOWEEN FOR DISNEYLAND PARIS' 15TH BIRTHDAY

From 6th October to 4th November 2007, a spooktacular Halloween season comes to Disneyland Resort Paris, offering laughs and mischief for all the family

With the help of Classic Disney Villains, Frontierland in the Disneyland Park transforms into Halloweenland. Cruella de Vil and Captain Hook will take over the park, creating a spooky setting for Halloween mischief and mayhem. There will be tricks and treats galore with the spooky season's special guests, the high energy Pumpkin Men and Pink Witches, who are sure to entertain kids of all ages at the daily Disney Villains' Halloween Showtime.

There are regular daily shows on the Halloween stage in front of the Sleeping Beauty Castle. Goofy and the Magic Pot is an exhilarating, energetic show where children can learn to make pumpkin soup and dance alongside Goofy himself! Minnie and the Bat Boys will also be appearing on stage daily, with live music and a host of other Disney characters singing classic Disney Villain's songs.

Kids can join in the fun as favourite Disney monster Stitch, from the 'Lilo and Stitch' Disney animation film, wreaks havoc across the park and takes over the 15th Anniversary 'Disney's Once Upon a Dream Parade'.

Disneyland Resort Paris also becomes even more interactive during Halloween season. Guests will have the chance to meet dozens of Disney characters, witches, stilt walkers and other street artists. Children aged between 3 and 11 can enjoy free face painting and 'hair-raising' antics with Disney's crazy coiffeurs. Several times a day the Mexican game of Piñata, in Halloweenland, is a test of strength and luck as kids try to break into the colourful paper mâché objects, stuffed with all kinds of sweets, biscuits and candy.

More:
Quote from: "DLRP Today"So to recap, the new Disney Villains show on the Candleabration stage will be called Disney Villains' Halloween Showtime, whilst the FantaStitch Stage in Halloweenland (Frontierland) will welcome back Goofy and the Magic Pot from last year along with the Bat Boys - this year led by Minnie rather than Donald. And as for the parade - it appears a minor Disney Villain Parade-style takeover may happen to the fresh-faced Disney's Once Upon a Dream Parade, likely the pre-parade mentioned in the past.

However, the French press release goes on to give even more information and confirm that a Halloween pre-parade, led by Stitch, will precede Disney's Once Upon a Dream Parade - "A cortege 100% Halloween led by Stitch", "Guests won't believe their eyes! Surprises guaranteed!".

The Disney Villains' Halloween Showtime appears to be a spectacle of rivalry between the Pumpkinmen and Pink Witches, hosted by the Disney Villains, to determine which camp of Halloween mischief should be declared winner of the season. Guests will clap, dance and tap their feet to the music and songs, before laughing (for the Pumpkinmen) or screeching (for the Pink Witches) to determine the winner.

The decorations and atmosphere of Halloweenland will return as normal to Frontierland. And the "Orange County" makeover of Main Street USA? Those Pumpkinmen won't give way for anything, not even the 15th Anniversary! They'll be back, and apparently giving the 15th Anniversary decorations their own personal, orange, touch...
Source (//http://www.dlrpmagic.com/today/2007/07/31/spooktacular-halloween-for-the-15th-anniversary/#comment-451)

Those Pumpkinmen had better be careful with the 15th decorations or they'll have more than the Pink Witches to answer to!

No, he doesnt.

I did her some rumours about an Ursula meet 'n' greet somewhere in the park.  Don't know yet how they will pull that off or if it's even true...

The old WWODP floats are currently being re-dressed for the Halloween parade.  No word yet if this will just be a pre-parade or a whole parade on its own.

an Ursula meet'n greet... well the imagination of entertainment dpt never dies, does it, I'm very curious to see that one
and of course, the floats of the WWODP, I'd love to see them again, as a pre, as a full parade or as whatever... everything would be good!

Do you know if there are ride closures etc on the 4th when they take the Halloween decorations down?

When I went for the halloween party last year, me and my girlfriend had park hoppers like normal and we were able to exit out the park for a meal at rainforest cafe before getting back to ride phantom manor late (can't remember what time, but it must have been around 10/10:30) and watch the fireworks.

I think the normal ticket rules apply. And, as far as I know if you have a package booked you don't have to buy a seperate ticket, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you do, I can't recall doing so.

Hope this helps,

I have never heard of the no need for extra ticket rule, all I ever hear from Disney this year seems to be they won't give you a ticket for the soiree unless you have booked a package with them argh.

I'm a bit confused about this Halloween Party.
Is it just in a certain area of the Park? How can you get tickets for it and can you buy them in advance? :?
Title:
Post by: Kristof on August 21, 2007, 01:39:45 AM
You should be able to buy 'm at front.  It seems that the tickets won't be released this year before September when ordering them through the reservation line.

All areas of the park are open, but not all attractions, but most of 'm are!  The main festivities are located in Frontierland and Adventureland.  There's also a parade and fireworks to close the night.

I just got the email from DLRP with a link to their Halloween festival page... how exciting!

We are going for the last day of the Halloween festival - we had booked to be there for the bonfire spectacular and we lucked out by catching the last day of halloween!

Has anyone been to the halloween festival before - I'd especially like to know things that happened last year, as (correct me if I'm wrong) but didn't Stich play trick or treat, like he is doing this year!

Thanks

Questions like this are better in Trip Planning (//http://www.photosmagiques.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=13). This topic is for discussion of news/rumours/updates for Halloween events.

But to answer quickly anyway - it's fairly quiet until about the final 2 weeks, when the school holidays start and the park suddenly becomes hugely packed. Halloween is almost as popular as Summer and Christmas during that time now.

Sorry if this has already been asked somewhere, but I was watching "The Phantom Wedding - Halloween Soiree 2004 from the video vault.

I found it really spectacular and very eerie, and was wondering if they are going to show it at this years Soiree or not.

Anyone  :?:

Same old, same old. I really hope the next Halloween festival after the end of the 15th chucks out this circa-2003 tat and replaces it with something more like Disney's HalloweenTime at DLR.  I used to get annoyed in years gone by about everyone bashing DLRP's Halloween, it was great fun and very original when they started all this, but now, 4 years later... pfffff.

I love the Pumpkinmen and even the Pink Witches, but the complete disorder they have with the decorations is awful for a park with such high status as DLP. It's like they let a primary school class design props and then randomly dropped them off all over the park. There's no overall design or thought the way there is with Belle's Christmas Village, the Christmas decorations of Main Street, etc.

They need to take a step back and just refine the whole season, don't you think? The park has become like those awful houses you see covered in Christmas lights, the whole thing is out of control and with so little thought or love.

Take a look:

Hopefully the Disney Villains Halloween Showtime will be worthwhile though...

Have you seen the Halloween Parade in Hong Kong Disneyland? It sure looks fantastic

//http://disneyandmore.blogspot.com/

What I dont get, is how if the Hong Kong park is performing so poorly, they can afford this? They also have built a walk through haunted house. Addmittedly they dont have the haunted mansion/Phantom Mannor, but either way, being strapped for cash in Hong Kong, must be a little different to being strapped for cash in Paris!
Title:
Post by: Anthony on September 26, 2007, 07:38:50 PM
Nice parade, thanks for the link! The chernabog float and fire dancers look eerily familiar though... :P

But yeah -- Hong Kong. I guess they don't have €2bn+ of debt to start with! I don't think HK are particularly strapped for cash though, are they? They're just not spending it on any new attractions (aside from IASW) for some reason. The parade looks amazing -- this kind of "spooky but fun" and very Disney theme is exactly what DLRP should use, not the "home-made from any old crap we found lying around" which the current decorations feel like.

Pumpkinmen and Witches... sure!! But they should always be live characters, the decorations should be... exactly that, decorations! No more horrible mannequin figures or pink witches statues stereotyping the nations of europe!! Use pumpkins, banners, cobwebs, autumn leaves, scarecrows for decorations, not plastic figures which look like they're from a cheap funfair.

I'm not annoyed DLRP has the same old decorations and style this year, I didn't expect any different, but hopefully once they lose the lifeline of the 15th they'll stand back and take a real look at what on earth they're trying to achieve with this season.
Title:
Post by: Japper on September 26, 2007, 07:44:10 PM
I hope that once the 15th birthday is over, they start to 'remake' their seasons! They will not build a new attraction for 4 years (right?) so they can spend some money on their halloween season and maybe the christmas season also?
Title:
Post by: penfold12 on September 26, 2007, 08:54:16 PM
thanks for the link too Baloo! i have to say DLR have outdone themselves. In the past many people felt none US parks made more of an effort for halloween, not this year! It evokes a very Americana feel, perfect for Disney. I know DLRP is european, and maybe thats why characters were created, to give a european twist on what is seen as an American holiday, but after seeing their decorations, makes me think they have it spot on, traditional, Americana, with Disney heritage and characters.

Dont build up your hopes over the Villains showtime either.

The music is all recycled, the opening and finale song "Are you ready for Halloween" is from Tokyo.

The rest of the show uses the worst cutting and mixing I've ever heard for a Disney Show. And all the playback is taken from things like Disney's Cinema Parade for Cruella, and Fantillusion for Jafar.

The costumes and dancing is good but don't build up your hopes too much!

Baloo, you're absolutely right! The decorations look very cheap and crappy. Why do they use flashy orange? Why not a more natural, genuine looking orange colour?
The only time I visited during the Halloween-season, was in 1998. There were not much decorations and they were a lot simpler, but at least it looked authentic (and NOT like a kindergarten!).

And why do they theme the season around Stitch? What has he to do with Halloween?? He's an alien, NOT a ghost, goblin or bad guy! Apparently they've already forgotten Disney's ultimate Halloween-movie: The Nightmare before Christmas.
It's about time DLRP starts looking at Hong Kong and Anaheim for a lesson in Halloween-theming.

I do not know fully, but I doubt there will be any halloween soiree tickets left on Halloween, you definitely get 50% off when you book in advance over the phone  .

Also have to say yet again DLRP slightly impresses me, I don't know why but I oddly like the pink Cinderella Carriage  .  Also from photos the Villain show looks like it is a rather quick put together, yet fun show, liking the recycling of old Villain and Halloween Happening Parade costumes.

I just wanted to say thanks to the person who put the Halloween 2007 photos up on Photos Magiques. I am so excited to go as we have no pumpkin patches here, I can take all the pumpkin pictures I want at DLP! Does anyone know if the characters will all be dressed up for Halloween the whole month of October or only on Halloween night (which we can't go since hubby can't get time off from work :x ) I am really hoping it won't be as crowded as all the other times we have visited. It would be nice to catch DLP just once when it is not horribly crowded.
Title:
Post by: Anthony on October 08, 2007, 01:16:00 AM
^^ @disneyfanatic: Halloween events continue all month, with many of the characters dressed up -- what you see in the Photos Magiques photos will be there till November.

The pink Cinderella coach... ouch. I say "ouch" because, though it pains me to say it, this idea which would have been really bad on paper actually looks rather good, in a weird way.

Could anyone give a brief run-through of what happens at the Disney Villain's Halloween Showtime?

Great video Raptor, was this our first, second or third show on the Saturday?

The show is even better in real life, expecially when that Malificent from the video does the show, she is amazing! She used to be "friends" with Cruella, in the old Starring Cruella De Ville show, but is even better here!!

The music has been cleaned up slightly, but still mixes badly I think, tho you could see all the different sources the tracks are taken from as a celebration of DLRP entertainment over the past 15 years I suppose

It really is a good, basic show!

Hey, the Showtime surprised me - it's actually pretty good!

I'd wondered what the actual point/story of the show would be, but as a revue of villains and their theme songs it works really, really well. I don't particularly like the Tokyo Halloween songs, if I were Vasile Sirli I'd be pretty pissed they weren't using the excellent Halloween-Halloween or It's Halloween-Lo-Ween. These ones are just generic j-pop, far too happy for Halloween.

Nice recycling of costumes, including the "Cruella boys", lol! I love Minnie's pink witches outfit too.

The pre-parade... blah. It looks ok, but I don't really like the main witch having a microphone and saying pointless things like "are you having a nice day?" (surely it should be "are you having a horrible day?"). It seems a really cheap thing for a Disneyland parade, I don't like when Father Christmas does it either.

Overall it's not bad, and it'll certainly make the pure quality of OUADP look even more dazzling.

I am just working on vids of the shows I recorded last weekend. You can cklick on the link in my sig and go to YouTube to see one of the shows I just uploaded there (Minnie and the Bat Boys). The Halloween season ends on 4th November, and no there is not really any big grand finale.  The Halloween Soiree is on during Halloween itself on 31st October, which I suppose could be classed as a grand finale.  But apart from that there is nothing especially special happening to mark the end.

Halloween Season is Kobold Season!
At least here's the proof:

  .
It was so weird, I saw these (3) Kobolds running in Frontierland, entertaining kids, and I saw a woman (the one laughing at the back) in shock of seeing the blue one with the glasses (not on photo). It was so funny and weird at the same time. They were so quick I couldn't take a pic of all three.
Maybe some of you saw them also :P .
I noticed an picture of Hollywood Tower Hotel at night was posted already, cause it was a nice effect, seeing it purple. If you look closely, at daytime the 'W' is still flashing. Can't wait for it to open.
Here the red lights enlighting the castle:

Sorry, bad quality.

But I think DLRP could've had much more. In Tokyo and America there's a Halloween, but then way more decorations and stuff!
An the whole park should be purple, orange and orange.
STOP THE PUMPKIN MEN! AAAAAAAARGH!

I taped them when I was in Paris some days ago - if there's an interest I can upload that part to my YouTube Account ...

» The Disney Villains' Halloween Showtime (//http://video.google.nl/videoplay?docid=-1131282699402300625) (at Google Video)

Ok, i'm not going to halloween this year, but last year I fell in love with one of the songs in the pink witches opening parade, it wasn't boo to you, but it went along the lines of "happy happy happy haloween, lets all celebrate" Anyway, the song is on the opening video which raptor has provided, when the pink witches float goes past, can anyone please please please tell me what the song is!

Far from diabolical! Massive improvement on last year. The lights behind the castle were put to good use there particularly.

Only thing I don't like is the end - dodgy "DJ Party" music and "let's do it!!". Do what? :?

Well I cannot quite tell what let's do it meant, but it was good, and sadly the video does not show the projections of Enchanted, meet the Robinsons, yes you read that correctly   and Nightmare Before Christmas.  Me thinks perhaps Buena Vista were behind parts of these fireworks.
