John Lassester was spotted by several Disney Central Plaza members at both the Disneyland Park and the Walt Disney Studios Park.
Makes me wonder what he must have thought about the park, since he didn't like DCA... Hope he liked Cars Quattre Roues Rallye... :)
wow, I hope the man liked the studios, and the new attractions... his opinion is not to be neglected, right.. thanks for the news Raptor

Or maybe you should say: hopefully he DIDN'T like it...
So does anyone else not know who this guy is? I presume h has something to do with development?

One of the founders of Pixar, director of Toy Story, A Bug's Life, Toy Story 2 and Cars. When Disney bought Pixar, he became chief creative -something-or-other- for Walt Disney Imagineering. Basically these days not only is he an awesome filmmaker, but he is
very influential on the theme parks. Disney will jump to whatever he says.

I've already expressed to raptor1982 my thoughts about John visiting WDS (it consisted mainly of exclamation marks and several hundred   ).
WOW :!: :!: :!:
Finally, its about time that he starts to focus more on the other parks insteed of Anaheim all the time. At this moment the Board of Directors of the Walt Disney Company is about to make a decision where to spent their money; expanding Hong Kong Disneyland or placemakings for Disney's California Adventure. Maybe its just me, but did they forget that the most pathetic Disney park of them all is called Walt Disney Studios in Paris? Those people in California shouldn't complain that much...
That must've been John's first visit to DLP. I remember he was interviewed by DLRP.fr last year at the Car's premier. They asked him what he thought about Disneyland Paris and he said he'd never been. So, nice to see he finally got round to visiting.
Wonder if they took him on the Studio Tram Tour, my favourite attraction :?

Wasn't Pixar a Lucas Co. making George Lucas the original founder of Pixar.
QuoteILM established their use of Computer Generated Imagery when they hired Edwin Catmull from NYIT in 1979. John Lasseter worked for ILM in the early 1980s as a computer animator. The computer graphics department, now known as Pixar, was eventually sold to Steve Jobs, which went on to create the first CG animated feature with Toy Story.

AFAIK, the Pixar
animation studio as we know it was founded mainly by Steve Jobs, John Lasseter and Ed Catmull though, that's what I meant. I'm surprised somebody on here didn't know of John though - his face pops up everywhere! (Except DLRP until now)
But it was a Lucas Co. originally, or originated from within his companies, which I don't think alot of people are aware of. It's actually mentioned on one of the documentaries on the Star Wars Trilogy DVD box set.
Lasseter is the Walt Disney Feature Animation President as well...
We saw him, he appeared to be having fun, and I heard he enjoyed Crush very much.
Hi folks
This is my first time posting here so be gentle on me.....lol! I do use another forum (bad boy) and use the name maleficent_man.
I recognised him in the park during the week and he kindly had his picture taken with me and my girlfriend. He seemed impressed by the rides but commented about kids being able to climb over the set outside Luigi's......I'm sure this will be fixed in due course.
Here's a pic:

OMG!!! You got to meet him! YOU ARE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LUCKY! Well done!
You are so lucky, you got to meet him and it was in front of his own creation! :o
Can I just be the first to say ugh what an awful shirt  , but nice to hear lasseter visited the studios, just hope dlrp doesn't get too much more pixar invasion in the future, outside of toon studio.
oh wow oh wow oh wow oh wow!! you are so lucky Bopshop!!
Thanks folks. It really was special as it was my first trip to the new Toon Studios - felt good to be checking it out as the same time as him.
In the photo where John Lasseter is walking with 2 other people, the woman is John's wife and the guy in the black jacket and black cap is (I believe) Tom Fitzgerld, Executive Vice President of WDI. So, if that is indeed Tom Fitzgerld, it's re-assuring to know that someone of his high position is involved in the Walt Disney Studios. Nice to know that they have some of the top Imagineers from Glendale working on it.

He was also here during the 15th Anniversary press event.
Here's a quote from the new Al Lutz article over at MiceAge:
QuoteThen came the corporate shake-up crafted by Bob Iger to divorce the Company from the biggest mistakes of the Eisner era, and in stepped Pixar's John Lasseter as Disneyland's favorite new uncle who was happy to lavish unprecedented political clout on the Anaheim property. It was a one-two punch of both financials and politics that vaulted the Disneyland Resort from an aging afterthought to a stylish flagship with untapped potential in the minds of key executives like Bob Iger and Parks chief Jay Rasulo.
Meanwhile, Lasseter happily keeps the bigwigs focused on Anaheim so they aren't too distracted by the continuing struggles in Hong Kong and Paris. Not since Walt visited Disneyland almost weekly in the 1950's and 60's has so much of Burbank's corporate attention been focused on Anaheim.
I just don't get it. Why does Lasseter only care about Anaheim? :?
Ah Al Lutz....used to read his stuff years ago when I was planning a trip to Anaheim.......

I suppose at the end of the day, he could moan and beg all he likes for more improvements at DLRP, but nothing will give Euro Disney SCA the money to complete them overnight.
California seems to be the resort with the most untapped potential (apart from HK maybe), with a second gate that seems to need a serious amount of change. And of course, it's John's home park/resort.
$1bn they say is budgeted for DCA now? DLRP managed to get five attractions and two placemaking projects from just over a quarter of that! It must be bad...
Q: how jealous am I!?... A: Very!!!
