They have started a fast pass trial for crush today. I know this has happened before but didn't work. I personally would really like a go system on it but if it doesn't work then that's understandable. The rumour though for trialling this again is in preparation for the magic card/band system. Only a rumour though.
Thats interesting. The queues were so huge over New Year we just didnt bother. I wonder if it will still be up and running at Feb 1/2 term?
I always thought that it would be getting a fast pass at it's upcoming renovation. Looking forward to going in Feb now!
^ Don't get your hopes up. It's another just one day test that once again failed.
Unfortunately Crush's Coaster simply doesn't have the capacity and speed to add a permanent Fastpass queue.
There won't be any Fastpass testing in February.
I think ED92 said that they're only trialling it for 4 days, people are going in the single rider queue entrance and merging at the bottom of the stairs.
I'm sure there's a reason they're trialling this (as we know from past tests that FP just doesn't work as the throughput isn't good enough) and maybe it is for a magic card type system whereby there'll be very limited FP available for the ride.It could be something like a numbers test so they've got an idea how many to make available.

Yeah this does sound reasonable. I know in the previous failed tests it was because loading was so slow that it really slowed down the main queue. However it's not impossible to implement as you say Claire. It's about getting the correct number. It may only be a few but if it gives me the chance to avoid it I'm happy.
I think part of the issue is it requires people to get in and out of it quite quickly, they don't, then they have to stop the car which means it all gets out of sync, slowing it down.
With in now open in EMT and if they add even limited fastpasses to it at least they're doing something to reduce the queues - I bet they were hoping it was just going to become less popular over time!
As far as I know the problem is not the FP-queue but the non-FP-queue in combination with the reduced capacity.
If you give out FP-es there's almost no capacity left for the non-FP-queue which means waiting times just go crazy for those people.
