Title: Extra Magic Hours -What Rides Are Available?
Post by: spacemountainplatypi on November 27, 2017, 02:36:19 PM
Hi all. I'm off to Disneyland Paris in...... 6 DAYS?  :o

I'm doing my always extensive mental day planning, and I was looking for information on EMH but couldn't find any concrete listings. I heard rumblings that Crush's Coaster was to be part of it (and I hope that's true).

Anyone know directly what'll be available for December?

I checked in this time last Monday, it goes so quick!! I actually got a little schedule with what was going to be open during EMT when I got to my hotel (I seem to have lost it now though!) but here's a rough idea:

– Peter Pan
– Dumbo
– Lancelot's Carousel
– Mad Hatters Tea Cups
– Princess Pavilion
-- Meet Mickey Mouse

Walt Disney Studios
– Crush's Coaster
– Ratatouille
-- Rock and Roller Coaster
-- I believe the parachute drop was also open one morning.

Wow, I'm also heading over this weekend and if that's the line-up then I'll be suitably impressed!

Same here.... I didn't think Crush would ever be part of EMH even in my wildest dreams... but... look at that.

Thanks for the information ladydunbroch, it really helps.

The parachute drop was recently added as a permanent part of EMT so should be open every day.

Not sure if they are formally part of it but we got on Slinky and RC well before 10.

If rides are ready to go before 10 then they'll be open, particularly in the Studios park so it's definitely worth keeping an eye out.

Just picked up the December EMH leaflet  from reception. No mention of Toy Story Soldiers but all the other rides listed above are on it.

Side note: can I pick up fast passes during EMT?

Possibly you still have an old leaflet, they were added on 11/11.
FastPass machines are closed until 10am

Hello,

I came back from Disney a week ago and I must say I was very disappointed by the magic hours. I went to Disney in February but I didn't have magic hours because I wasn't staying in a Disney hotel however I stayed in Newport bay club this time round.
The first morning I went to the main park around 8:45/9:00 and I was shocked at how many rides where not open. It was some of my fault as I didn't check the dlp app ( which I reccomend you get when you go!) as it tells you what rides are open, what the waiting time is and what time they open and close. What I didn't realise is there are very few open and the ones that were open were a very long waiting time. For instance Peter Pan is always a ridiculously long wait time so I thought I'd get there early to get on the ride.... wrong! 60 minute wait!. I ended up queuing to get into adventure land and when it opened at 9:30 - bearing in mind I had been there since 8:45 and had been on no rides at all , I made a mad dash along with the massive crowd to get on pirates of the carribean only to find out you guessed it... it doesn't open till 10. So I spent all my magic hours queuing for nearly 2 hours. luckily they opened pirates up 15 minutes early as there was a massive que of people waiting and many unhappy guests ! I didn't make the same mistake the next morning as I went to studios first, that was a much better choice. I did get there at 9 though as I was going home that day and had to sort out cases for Disney express. Most of the more popular rides like crushes coaster which always is very busy and ratatouille had a waiting time of 45/60 minutes like they usually do so I went straight for rock n roller coaster. Bottom line is head for studios because you won't get on very much in the main park. Oh I forgot to mention no fast passes till 10! So I couldn't even get a fast pass for Peter Pan and wait for another ride. Disney's changed quite a lot since 2014 that's for sure !

^ If you had prepared yourself before you went, you wouldn't have been disappointed.
Because all the things you were disappointed by that you listed here, are 1) on the Disneyland Paris website. No app downloads required for it and 2) you actually get the leaflet upon check-in where the EMT info is listed. So you could've known. It's your own fault for not preparing really.

By the way, also in 2014 Fastpass machines didn't open until 10am. It has been that way since they introduced the Fastpass system ;)

^^

I did actually say it was mainly my fault  :)
However as I haven't used EMT since 2014 roughly. I wasn't prepared for it to be that busy in the mornings and I'm pretty sure Disneyland website doesn't state the rides get really busy at 8:45 in the morning. So I thought que times would be less , my fault.  However , for EMT people shouldn't be queuing 60 minutes for a ride when it's also 60 minutes when other guests enter the park after 10 am it doesn't make sense.

By the way , also in 2014 and when they first opened the FastPass System , most  of the rides didn't ususally have a wait time of 60 minutes at its peak ride time so therefore most fastpasses wouldn't of been needed. However, now that rides like big thunder mountain and Peter Pan etc can have a waiting time of 60 minutes or 120 Minutes I think they should have the fastpasses opened at 8:30 .

Also when I said a lot has changed since 2014 I was talking about the massive ques for the rides not the fastpasses being opened at 10 am ;)

I agree with DisneyGeorgie in being disappointed with the EMH. We went last week and whilst I know the app and advertising tells you what is open it doesn't alter the fact that very few main attractions in the main park are open compared to previous years. As 2 adults visiting we didn't want to ride few the small children's rides that were available - Peter Pan was the only attraction open that we could use....and that had a 75 min queue at 9am!

Disney Studios EMH was great this week. Doors opened at 08:25 every day and Crush's Coaster queue was very polite snaking through the park waiting for the chain to come down at 08:30. One morning they had the single rider queue going too.

Queues for Crush and Ratatouille did fill up quite quickly though, turning up after 08:45 would have led to a considerable wait. For some reason Aerosmith is not nearly as popular, queue was 5mins for the entire EMH.

Agree with the above that for 2 adults unless you are taking photos and enjoying some peace, the main park is a bit of a waste during that time.

Glad I'm not the only one disappointed , I really hope disney can change this especially for the amount of money you pay to stay at a Disney hotel to get the magic hours just to not be able to get on any rides at all!

Colbert , I'm glad you had a great time and you got good use out of your magic hours , the only reason why I can think rock n rollercoaster is shorter wait time is because it's a fast ride that lets a lot of people on at a time.

RnR is shorter because it's been there a lot longer and just isn't as popular as Crush and Ratatouille. People will head straight for those as they know how busy it can get later.

Peter Pan is a similar issue - people head straight for it as it gets busy.  I wouldn't be surprised if the princess pavilion is the same.

Personally I'd always head to EMT to be there right at the start - even with the old times it got busy if you didn't rock up until 9am.

I wondered if it was the theme of Rock n Rollercoaster/Aerosmith that put people off, as it wouldn't resonate with children at all and seems a bit out of place really. But it's a great ride and there were people like us leaving and rejoining the empty queue multiple times so people clearly enjoy it.

When I was about 9 I remember I went on rnr about 20 times in a row and my parents used to try and persuade me to go one another ride cause I loved t that much

However the thing that put me off was when u was waiting for the ride and you could see the countdown and the notice it made while waiting it put me off and it was only recently that I've built up the courage to go on it again.

Ha! Yes the first time I went I didn't know anything about the ride. So seeing Aerosmith on screen have this little demo of a 3/4 loop that just stopped midair, combined with the ridiculous launch whilst queuing, made me fear for my life.

It's a shame because it is a great ride although having been on space mountain for the first time a few weekends ago I must say it is better than rnr. Even though I'm not the biggest fan of space themes the ride itself was amazing.
As for rnr I agree when you said it was a bit out of place. People wouldn't even know it's there because it's nowhere near the other rides and it's very hidden. Although having said that during the day when I was there it did have a wait time of 40 minutes
