Title: How strict are they on height?
Post by: Leosawesomedad on July 20, 2017, 05:08:28 PM
Just wondering how strict they are with regard to height? My son is 116 cm with shoes on and we really want to go on space mountain. As it's only the two of us going, if he can't ride neither can I which will be a real shame.

What are the chances of getting him on?

They are strict.  If you are below the height of the measuring stick, they won't let you on.  My 100 cm daughter was not pleased when she could not get on BTM in January.  Luckily, she will get on BTM and Star Tours in October.

Oh well I guess that's something for the next trip.

They have to be strict as the restraints aren't safe or secure if you're below the minimum height. They'll even check to make sure sticking up hair isn't being used to 'cheat' if they think it's close.

They are strict on Space Mountain - I remember my daughter not being allowed on the first time we went as she was the tiniest amount too small.

The last visit we went on in May - by younger daughter went on Indiana Jones a few time across the trip as she was exactly the height needed - then on our last day she got stopped and told she was too small! We tried to explain she had been on it several times without issue but the CM was adamant that she was too small. The only thing I can put it down to is she had different trainers on and maybe the sole on one was slightly thicker.

I would buy him higher shoes just for the ride if I thought I could make up 4 cm, but I think that's probably just a bit too much.

HaHa! Back to the 70's platforms then! Actually we have found that when the kids were younger it wasn't the total height but the seated body length that made some rides unsuitable. Our long legged kids were tall enough but didn't make the cut on R&R due to sliding about in the overhead restraint.

We use to fold up the park maps and place them inside our kids shoes ;D ;D ;D

I will just have to leave him with the lost children for a while ;) He actually said the other day when I measured him  "that's ok just leave me and go on your own" and I had to explain that I can't actually do that... Bless him though

Depends on the shoes and the cast member. We're here now and last night my daughter was two small for btm (sandals) and tonight... voila, perfect! Cheap George trainers rock!!

Leo loved BTM! It was only Space Mountain that he wanted to do but couldn't. Looking into our next trip so it's something to look forward to...
