Title: Hotel Breakfasts
Post by: rocker on June 06, 2017, 03:52:53 PM
Hello All,

Has anyone stayed at The Santa Fe or Cheyenne since they have started charging for breakfast?  Previously breakfast was rather manic & I am wondering whether...
a) things are any calmer now?
b) is it the same food offering or has it changed/improved?

cheers
R

I can't answer the question about if things are any calmer, but it's possible as I expect a few people will choose breakfast in the park.

I asked the question about the food offering on a DLP Facebook page and someone answered saying that they didn't think the offering had changed. Shame really. Hopefully they have stopped rationing the cold meats!

Hi was there last month and we had breakfast buffet in Santa Fe although we went full board we payed an extra €4 adult and €2 per child. It wasn't too busy, comfortable  but we went in about 9am. Quick service breakfast in the park entitles you to 1 omelette burger, 1 croissant or 1 pain au chocolat, 1 orange juice and 1 hot drink. Not sure if you knew this but thought I'd put this info on anyway!!!

I agree with CitrusZing, the free dining option will surely be making a difference. I also read on another thread on the dining board a post by cooper75 that they were unable to have hotel breakfast even though they were willing to pay the extra!  :(

Quote "We were there last Thurs to Sat, with the half board vouchers. Stayed at Santa Fe and asked if we could pay extra to eat in hotel and was no in no uncertain terms." unquote

Disney25, can I just ask, do the counter service breakfast vouchers have a value on them? Being charged €4 on top suggests they're worth €12, trying to find out if we'll be able to up-grade too and find out how much. It seems that at the moment hotels are doing different things at different times!  ::) Perhaps by the time we go in September they'll have sorted it out!

I believe it does say they don't guarantee you can upgrade and it depends how busy it is.

IIRC you got your breakfast included if you booked before a certain date so it may still be busier than they want and will take a while to settle to its new level with only people having paid separately for breakfast there.

This is the breakfast ticket on here will tell you where you can use this ticket in the park at face value. If you choose to eat elsewhere then you will have to pay the extra.

I'll just add that we didn't have the meal plan (we went for the days and nights extra free instead) and we used the lovely Starbucks at the Cheyenne for breakfast each morning. Better coffee than Disney and some nice food too. A definite alternative to consider if you're going to be paying for breakfast.

Can I just clear something up?

If you have no meal plan, can you pay to have breakfast in the hotel or not? I know you used to be able to but what about with the new system?

I have a character breakfast booked one morning but haven't decided what I'm doing the other 3 mornings we are there.

You can however unless you book in advanced as part of your package you can't guarantee they'll let you pay on day. It depends how busy it is and whether they have capacity.
