Title: Has Big Thunder been down?
Post by: ffugitive on April 09, 2017, 09:52:45 AM
Big Thunder has been listed as Temporarily Closed every time I have checked the app the last few days.  Has it been down or has this been an error?

Looking at the MagiPark app, it's been up and down like it normally is but it has been open most of the time.

It was on all day Friday but off most of yesterday (a few trains would run then it would break down, so they'd close it, later reopen but it broke down again, .....). It began running properly very late afternoon / early evening.

We got Fast Passes as soon as the park opened at 10:00 and never got to use them because when it was finally running again later in the day, literally everybody that had got a FP during the whole day was then queueing to use theirs, so the FP queue was out onto the main walkway near the toilet block / popcorn stand. Then we had to leave :(

It'd be interesting to find out why it can be so unreliable. Obviously some safety system halts it but what error is it detecting?

A few weeks ago we were evacuated from the train. We were at the bottom of the first big climb when the train stopped. We didn't see or hear anything unusual as for the reason why.

Our train was once stopped just before the drop in front of the last turn right to the 3rd hill.
Reason was boys were standing up during the ride and this drop is covered. To restart the ride the train had to be evacuated and pulled into the 3rd hill. The boys were escorted from the station by security. The official announcement was "technical difficulties" with a heavy French accent.
Restarting the ride took more than an hour.

We were there last week and it broke down around at least 4 times that we know of over 6 day period. Was incredibly frustrating.  :(
