Agrabah Café recently re-opened its doors as an all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant.
Although initial plans called for a "half board meal plan" restaurant only, plans have changed and its doors are now open for all paying guests. However, Half Board Meal ticket holders will get priority access.

I used to LOVE Cafe Agrabah, it was my favourite cafe in the whole resort. Not for the food, but for it's unique and beautiful theming. I miss it being open so much. Does anyone else feel the same? Am I the only one?
No, I'm missing it too - coz I never had the chance to go there
I like the pictures I've seen so much and the food sounds to be great, even for us Vegetarians. I'd love to have it re-opened coz it's just such a different, unique restaurant (instead of all these pizza & pasta places!)... It's/it was simply special!!
I watched something the other day and Cafe Agrabah was on it so i assumed it was open. I would have love to had gone there. Why did it shut ? and is there anything replacing it now ?
Currently the Agrabah Café/Bazar is only open during New Years Eve. For the rest of the years, it's being used for special events.
I loved the cafe too. It was my fav at the park to take a break with a nice tea.
But I miss also the old bazar. In this time the cafe was very small and a special tip. I never understand why they changed it.
:bump:
lol - never saw a forum administrator bump topoicslike that, but I guess you are entirely right in doing so in this case :)
The Agrabah cafe really deserves some attention, and I'm still hoping that Karl will have it reopened soon!!!
Also - I hope they will soon start selling those lovely turkish delights again in stead of the stuff they are selling there now. I would actually have drivin 4 hours just for the taste of those great huney sweets (I know we can get them from our supermarkets here as well, but the ones overthere were simply unbeatable!!!)
Perhaps we will once see it reopen. Even though it is being used for special events at nighttime, I'm sure they could still open it during daytime ;)
Cheers!
David.
Quotenever saw a forum administrator bump topics like that
Agrabah Café is being discussed in the Hook's Galley topic, so I'm bumping up this one to keep everything on topic.
Sorry, I'm stupid - who is Karl? :P Is he the one who decides the closures and reopenings in the resort?!
If yes, then: KARL, you lovely guy, please reopen the Bazaar and Agrabah Café, we fans LOVE it and miss it ;)

Karl is Karl Holtz, the man in charge at DLRP. For every small (Keelboats, more characters) or large improvements over the last year (?), he was the man who made the decisions, our very own CEO. Yes you have to love him.
dlp.info says that the bazar and agrabah café will reopen this november! Great! :D/
That´s great to hear. I hate it to stand in front of closed gates
Yes I want to see it open again, because I never had the chance to try it out. I always wanted too, because being from an oriental country myself I just love those places and of course the food. It's great to hear that it will reopen, I hope these news will be true and that I can try it out next time.
I don't miss the restaurant, but I do miss the Bazaar, with the shops, carftsmen, persian rugs, and the ability to walk to Fantasyland without getting wet!

Yes, it's great to hear the area might be reopening as the restaurant again, but this is what I'd really like to see - a real indoor arcade-style area with shops, as it was meant to be. It's so unlike Disney to pass on the chance for more retail space...

Sorry, I can't help it, but its the sad truth haha!
Personally, I can't wait for for it to reopen. I truly think the Agbrabah Cafe will enrich the Disneyland experience. :)
News from magicblog (//http://www.photosmagiques.com/blog/):
Quote from: "magicblog"Agrabah Café, the legendary restaurant inside the Adventureland Bazar has been closed for nearly 7 years now and is only used once in a while for special events. It was rumoured recently that the restaurant would finally reopen it's doors for the Christmas Season to increase restaurant capacity. But is this Thousand and One night Fairytale as pretty as fans currenlty want to believe? Depends how you look at it...
A quick phonecall to the Disneyland Resort Paris reservation line quickly answered the question why after so many years the restaurant opened its doors again. After asking and receiving the restaurant's opening hours (11.30h - 16h), the cast member quickly asked if we had booked the halfboard-plan with our hotel reservation. We declined to which to cast member politely apologised and explained that the restaurant will be a halfboard-plan only restaurant.
So what does this mean? Indeed, all of us hardcore Anual Pass Holders will not be able to get a table at the Arabian themed restaurant, without a Halfboard ticket. Bad news for the fans, but you have to understand that the halfboard-meal program is very popular among "regular" tourists and an all-exclusive restaurant, just for them, would be the perfect additional Disney-touch that most tourists come looking for at Disneyland Resort Paris.
More here (//http://www.photosmagiques.com/blog/?p=314).
That is really interesting. And great news for some of us with halfboard meal tickets.
Thers still no listing on the web site, but then again it took a while to be updated after L'Auberge do Cendrillon changed and was no longer included in the half board plan.
Can i ask in this thread (or should I open a new one in planning?)-Seeing as I've never seen it open, what sort of food does Agrabah serve?
It used to be "Arabian"-themed counter service (if I'm not mistaking), but it's not known yet what food and how it will be served for the half board meal guests.
Well correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Agrabah connected to this stands with arabic desserts and sweet sweet sweets? I'd really love to see *that* being back; but actually it sounds that just the restaurant will be back up?
Any1 knows more?
And reopening "for the xmas season" hopefully does mean "on Nov 10"? So I might be able to have a look there :)

YES!!! These sweets are LOVELY :)
Mmmm! never got the chance to taste those. Hoping it might be open when we go :D

Yep, I've eaten there twice the past 2 days... . According to raptor1982, the food was delicious!
Uploading photos in a few minutes.
Edit: here are the photos:

:D
Oh wow, that's what I call themed dining! :o The repainted entrance sign looks so much better, and even the graphic design on the menu is pretty good!
Shame we'll probably never get to see the alley of shops again, but seeing this restaurant open is just awesome.
Hmm, I wonder if Jay & Karl paid a visit?
Jay: "Hey, I thought I closed this place!!" :P
Thos photos are lovely raptor ! :D
it looks great, shame about it being halfboard only though, for me personally that is.
kurgly_bird,
it's *not* halfboard-exclusive. This seems to have been the idea initially. Now guests with halfboard vouchers will have priority when looking for a table (a *must* for people who have already paid for the meal and are looking for a place to eat during the busier seasons of the year).
But now everyone will be able to have a meal at Agrabah. (21,- Euro for adults.) And this is what I am going to do next week. :)
So, I'd recommend anybody who wants to eat there to get a reservation at a Disney conciergerie, at City Hall or Studio Services or the restaurant itself first thing after getting to the resort. (Or just call the reservation hotline in advance...)
thanks a lot experiment627, i hadn't heard about this change. looks like i'll get to check it out after all :D

So does anyone know what was type of food is on the buffet? =P~ The theme of the place looks fantastic and we will definately visit. It looks really mysterious and atmospheric, good job Disney. I much prefer places like this rather than the Fastfood type eateries.
Obviously I do...
It's oriental / Mediterranean style that includes Shoarma (freshly cut from the roast), cinnamon rice (never tried that before, it's DELICIOUS), fish, baked spiced potatoes, ... There was also some pasta and lasagne for the vegi's. Also Arabian styled pastries for dessert as well as fresh cinnamon flavoured fruit salad, pancakes and things like that.
I also had mint tea for the very first time in my life (don't like tea but it was good!)
It was sooo good, I went back the second day.
Edit: I'm hungry now....
Oh yummy, that sounds sooooo delicious! I will definately be going now :D/
They done so well with this, it looks great, and it sounds delicious  Thanks for the photos Raptor
Oh the photos are so great. The restaurant is just my right place. I hope it will now stay open and not only in high season. I really want to eat there on my next trip. It looks so oriental. My husband, who is from an oriental country will love it.
Just finished uploading a small video with some footage from inside the restaurant. Enjoy!

Fantastic video Raptor, thanks for putting it online :)
Brilliant video, thanks for all this!
Great to see a restaurant with a proper, themed selection of food - something different to steaks, burgers. DLRP really ought to serve more exotic foods like this. The tea in those special glasses looks like a wonderful touch.
They got this one spot on. :)
Looks fantastic, but very quiet!
I remember when this was a shop, when the park first opened. Im sure at that stage there were areas that were open to the elements. Is that still the case, or is there a false roofing above the stick roofing?
I read in the book "Walt Disney Imagineering" that they created a false roof over the stick roofing. It's special, cause it looks like there is now roof, but because of the more bad weather it was necessary to have a roof there to keep it dry when it rains.
What a great piece of imagineering art this location is!
I just love it, as if stepping into a whole new world. Glad to see it opening again. Surely going to eat there my next visit!
Oh my God - the Agrabah Café looks better than I ever imagined  I've always loved to eat there one day, but never had the chance to... The pictures are really, really awesome, well done :)!
I hope sooo much that it'll be opened now forever, even during the lower seasons [-o<
But I guess it's only for people who booked Half Board Meal plans, right?!
So there's also enough yummy food for the Veggies? :)
And funny, I don't usually like tea either, but tried some mint tea during the last few months and now it's okay to drink ;)!

Not half board only Nala ;)
Not half board only but...?
Why only? I'm sorry I just want to eat there without difficulties
MSW, I think you're missing the point lol. It's open for everyone, but guests with half board tickets will get priority access to the restaurant. But don't worry, it's HUGE inside, so lots and lots of tables. Definitely a smart move by park operations.
Heres a photo where you can sorta make out the roof
//http://www.photosmagiques.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=8993
thanks for the pic! Its amazing I think that this way built as a shop in 1992, and now look at it, such a better choice!
Quote from: "Soap"Not half board only Nala ;)
Oh sorry, didn't read the rest of this topic so I didn't see this  But yay, that sounds great!!!!!! :)
Hope this will also be till next winter season... and beyond, of course :)
So to the guys of you that have already eaten there: Is it worth the money (beside the atmosphere which seems to be amazing to me!!)? Is the food tasty, especially the vegetarian one? ;) Compared to the buffet of Plaza Gradens (which I usually wanted to try next time), is it better or worse to eat at the Agrabah Café (I know that tastes are different, but I'm just curious what your experiences are) :)
Raptor, I'm wondering if the Shawarma is chicken or Lamb? Would I be correct also in that as half board standard users the voucher would be enough, or would we have to pay the difference. Not that it would be much anyway, just curious :). Thanks! The pictures and video are just lovely!
3 more days for me :D/ :D/ :D/
Yesterday, I enjoyed a great lunch with good friends at the Agrabah Café - a very nice place, indeed.
The food was quite good, though I found the selection a bit limited (especially for children...). I loved the salads, enjoyed the lamb and the amazing oriental desserts.
It's something different. We'll have to wait and see how much the guests appreciate it. (The way many menus were dumbed down at so many restaurants, I dare to say: not much...) The setting, however, is magical and I'll definitely be back before Christmas!
Oh my goodness! I've been away from the forum for just a couple of weeks and look at what I've missed... Wow, great news!! The Agrabah Cafe open again, which I've been hoping for years, and for everyone too! The interior looks amazing, and just as I remember it. Thanks for the photos, Raptor, and for the menu description too! Sounds absolutely delicious. :D
mm wondering if I should add this to the dinner lists this christmas.. Is the wine list the normal one..
