Hi guys planning a trip for 2018 went last in 2016. Can you book breakfast with characters if you are not staying in a Disney hotel? Planning on staying in the alonquin explorers this time. And can you get a meal plan? Thanks
I'm pretty sure you can pay for a character breakfast but you definitely can't have a meal plan unless you're staying in a Disney hotel.
As dlpowl says, you can book a character breakfast but its not long before the day that bookings open for non resort people. And no Meal Plan unless you stay onsite.
The character breakfast at Plaza Gardens is exclusively for Disney hotel guests (and possibly AP holders) for the first sitting. The second sitting is open for other bookings, but I expect it will fill up with hotel guests too.
Thanks guys thought as much but worth a try! Excited already planning for 2018! ;D
Do you have any idea what times the sittings will be for character breakfast at plaza gardens? We are staying at Santa Fe but have upgraded to premium meal plan and this is included! Sounds really good!

The 2nd sitting is at 9:45am. I know that for certain as that's the one I booked. I think the first one was at 8:30am but I'm not 100% sure.
EDIT: Just checked - it's 8:15am.
Can anyone tell us the difference between Cafe Mickey and Plaza Gardens?
Last year we did 2 CB's in Cafe Mickey last year and wondered where it was, what its like and why it moved
Cheers
I suspect breakfast wise it'll be much the same.
Cafe Mickey is losing all character appearances after the end of March, presumably to keep the characters limited to the 'proper' Disney properties - you'll only be able to see them inside the parks and hotels. The 'problem' with Cafe Mickey as such is that anyone could eat there.
Apparently they've done a couple of test runs at Plaza Gardens so far with 5-6 characters at each.
In all honesty I wouldn't be surprised to see them sell off Cafe Mickey to another chain or retailer.
There are character meals in Inventions in the Disneyland Hotel. You don't have to have park tickets for them, anyone can go to them, but it is expensive!
