Afternoon all, we will be at DLP in May for our Daughters 30th birthday.
We would like to do character dining on her birthday as her 3 year old will be with us.
Inventions seems a bit pricey, is there anywhere else that does this?
Do the characters go into the dining rooms at the hotels?
any help advice appreciated.
Hey
Unfortunately there is only inventions and the just as expensive auberge du cendrilion (a princess diner).
Café mickey is no longer an option since they stop having characters in march.
You could also decide to have a character breakfast at the plaza gardens. If you stay at a disney hotel you can only need to pay a supplement. This still isn't cheap but cost a lot less than inventions.

Sorry to thread crash - the "Café Mickey" not doing characters thing... Is that seasonal? or a permanent thing now? Thx.
The Café Mickey not doing character dining anymore is permanent. It is thought to be decided so you have to be INSIDE the park to meet any characters.
Disney stopped characters being in your hotel during dining hours a couple of years ago and when I went last year there was a meeting place in our hotel where Pluto and sometimes Goofy was doing a meet from 9 till 11am or something like that, cant quite remember the times. So there were some characters but it was like a standard meet and greet like you would have in the parks. I did hear a rumour that they may be bringing characters back into the hotels but I dont know how true that is. Cafe Mickey is now stopping all character breakfasts/lunches/dinners from March this year as Disney decided that it'll be more special if characters were seen inside the park instead of outside aswell. They've now been moved to Plaza Gardens in the main Disney Park. You can have a character breakfast there but I dont think they do character lunches or dinners. As far as im aware the only place you can go for a character lunch/dinner is either Inventions or Auberge. If your staying on site and have purchased a meal plan you could use your voucher as a part payment and then pay the remaining amount? Just an idea. I know of alot of people who have done that :)
