Title: Buzz lightyear pizza planet
Post by: Vikkilou on June 12, 2016, 10:41:18 PM
Hi were going for our second visit on 31st August & would like to go in pizza planet.  It was always closed last time we went, & am sure I read somewhere it's only open for a few hours a day?? Is this true?  Think it's more for the experience of seeing it rather than the food so is it worth it?

It does have extremely odd and unreliable opening times. That being said, I would genuinely avoid it like the plague. The theming is great but leaves a lot to be desired and I wouldn't even waste your money.

Never seen it open. But haven't heard great things about either.

If it's open, you can just go and have a look inside.
If you don't like pizza or pasta, then it's a complete waste.

But if you do like pizza or pasta, please go to Bella Notte or Hathi's pizza place, in my opinion much better then the tiny squares of pizza you get at Pizza Planet.
Ok, it's all you can eat, but still ...

Thanks everyone am swaying towards using the money we would of paid for that & putting it with our meal tickets & going to inventions

I second the notion of avoiding it. It was open on our last trip and we went thinking you can't go wrong with pizza & pasta, but it was awful. Theming, buffet presentation, quality of food/desserts - it was all just very very "off"! Def go to Inventions, no competition!

It is what it is - Pizza and Pasta buffet. Usually around 4 different type of pizza, 3 different types of plain pasta with a choice of either bolognaise or alfredo sauce. Unlimited cold drinks included, hot drinks (I think) are extra.

Various tart, cake and mousse puddings.

As its a buffet, you can stay (and rest) as long as you want. Children can enjoy a play area.

I think the maintenance on the place has been kept to a minimum as its rumored to getting a refurb/retheme.

Opening days seem to be random.

Pizza Planet is closed for the whole of July and August anyway according to the restaurant opening hours schedule.

Of course it's closed July & august, you wouldn't want it open or busy during peak season would you. I've been different times of the year & have never seen it open. I've just wrote it off completely & don't bother even going round to check if it's open.

No, we've never seen it open either.  My kids always want to go but I've heard such bad stuff about it that I'm always relieved when it's shut!

The food wasn't great but the play area was good for young kids. Last time we were in it our kids were toddlers now they are 6 and 7 not seen it open since then I don't think. Isn't it being refurbed into something star wars or am I getting confused

Never been to Pizza Planet as it's never been open when I've been but I wouldn't go if it was! Lucky Nugget is a good shout! I went there for lunch on my last trip...really good burgers and the seating area is like a Western Saloon, it's gorgeous!

wonder what they will do with the play equipment?

I do understand the decision, but I think it's a shame DLP has never invested in this restaurant. Our kids liked the chance to eat, play, eat some more and then play again.
The largest part of the day our kids are either walking or waiting, when in DLP. The chance to just play for an hour gives a very welcome break to that walking-and-waiting. There are almost no places to climb, slide or run around (the Pocahontas-playground is more often closed than not and the Pirate-ship also has been closed for a long time).
A lot of other attraction parks I know (in the Netherlands for example the Efteling) have several playgrounds. Just being able to run around and have some fun for an hour or so would be a welcome addition to DLP.

Maybe they will paint the play equipment black and white and call it a star wars play area. ;)

It was a great place to sit and chill in the summer and warm up in the winter.

The food was awful but my kids loved it!! I wasn't overly impressed by it when we went but the kids still talk about it 18months on and considering they are only 5 and 3 it must have left s good impression!!

I must admit from a child's point of view it was fun! I remember playing there as a kid with my younger brother up and down slinky slide and just enjoying a coke! Don't remember awful lot about the food tbh the last time I ate there was 2009 with my son and it was completely empty inside.

We wanted to go back over the years but it's been closed more often than not and I've been warned it isn't worth the money.

I do think more play areas are needed and it seems a shame because it's a great way for the parents to sit eat relax while the kids are entertained. Maybe it'll reopen with a play area in a new theme with a new menu?

the two plusses for the pizza planet play area was that there was plenty of adult seating and it was indoors - shelter from the sun/heat and cold/rain.
