Hi,
I'm off to DLP from 2nd to 6th May this year.
I was just looking at the park hours (on DLP guide) and I've noticed that the Studios is open until late (9pm) from the Thursday for 4 nights. It only seems to be that week (normally it looks to be only open late at the weekends)
Is there something special going on I've missed?
I don't know if there is something special specific at DLP that week
I know here in Ireland there is a a week school holidays during that time .... Maybe there is elsewhere too ?
I know the studios are open till 9pm at the weekends ...
I hope it's not because of school holidays! I spent ages checking all the main European country dates before booking ha ha!
Thanks for replying
Well Ireland has a week at that time that's all I can say :) hahaha not sure about anywhere else :)
All Dutch schools have May-break that week. That's why we are going also that week :D
So my quiet week might not be so quiet then! :(
I've been that time before (my birthday is may 2nd and we travelled out for that) and it was a perfect time to go. wasn't overly busy and the park was open later in the evenings which was fab. we rode Its a small world on the last ride of the night :-) I recommend going into the studios late one evening, we got so much done while everyone else was getting their spot for Dreams in the other park.
it's not a holiday in Spain so it may not be in France either as they tend to have the same holidays as us!
the monday is a bank holiday in the most of europe and an awful lot of English schools are off that week too. I think you need to be prepared for fair size crowds tbh x
That Thursday is Ascension Thursday----which means a lot of areas have a long weekend at the very least.
Southern Germany has a 4 day weekend then (we'll be at the parks) and many areas take at least that if not a whole week (and often long weekends, tied in with national holidays, are not listed on school holiday websites . . .)
We plan to visit then, but assume it will be pretty crowded due to the holiday.

According to the websites I've checked English schools are all off the last week of May (presumably to tie in with the other May bank holiday). I don't know anyone that is off at the beginning of May??
Hopefully it is just busy at the end of the week.
I'm starting to stress a bit now. I literally have the freedom to go at any time of the year at the moment as my son is only 3 and if I have picked a really busy week I'll be seriously annoyed (with myself!)
I don't think UK schools are off that week. Easter holidays are around now for most areas (my daughter is off the next 2 weeks) and then the next half term is end of May around that bank holiday. It sounds like the ascension day is the reason for the later nights from Thursday so get as much done on your mon/tue/wed and take your time on the Thursday. I've been when it was ridiculously busy one weekend and we still felt like we got lots done even though most was exploring (things like the dragon under the castle, going on the train round the park, adventure isle) you may need a slower pace by the end of the week anyway. don't stress, it'll be magical x
Up here in the north east UK we off now for 2 weeks then end of may for half term, some schools here & rest of UK might have the following week off as well but other than that it should be just a bank holiday weekend for UK not the full week, unless Irish by the sounds of it.
Yep the southern Irish anyway are off for the full week
Along with Germans and Dutch too

According to the European School Holidays website some German schools are off from the 6th only?
Right I've decided to stop stressing about this and instead need to get myself organised!!!
I wasn't going to bother with booking many restaurants this trip as I fancied being more spontaneous, but I think I'd better re-think that strategy!
(I'm lying a bit there - it was more that I can't decide where to eat! ha ha) :D
Some of the sites aren't accurate with non common holidays
Like this week in May is not usual for us .... And looking at the online school holiday calander I have it's not listed in all the sites online ....
But it is listed on some ...someone who lives in said country is likely to know better :)
Ok I am going those exact same dates, so good choice 8) I am tied to going in school holidays unfortunately and the school I am in is closed that week (Ireland).
To answer your question - the Thursday is a holiday (holy day) in France so likely to be very busy. The Monday slightly so and the Tues and Wed should be quiet enough. I don't think UK schools are off until near the end of May for their mid-term.
So my plan is to try and get as much done on Tues/Wed as possible so Thurs and Fri will be catching shows, swimming and chilling out as much as we can. We will use our fastpasses those days to repeat some rides.
Thank all!
I'm glad I found out before I went! Going to move around my plans a bit to accommodate. I wasn't going to book meals for Thursday but will now!
& will also plan to do the shoes then & concentrate on the rides on Tuesday & Wednesday.
i dont know if this helps but we were there over the French and Spanish half term in Feb and to be honest we didnt find it that busy apart from the usual like ratouille and Crusher having silly queuing time everything else was great between 25- 50 mins although on the sat it was heaving so it just depends.
If you plan well and use fast passes, i would suggest doing the studios late afternoon as this appears to be the quiet time and plan your meet and greets well you shouldnt have too many issues.
whatever you will have a brilliant time!
I've checked your dates again and it is only a holiday in Spain on the Monday! have fun!
