Title: It's Gonna Be May
Post by: Ohana on January 21, 2016, 05:28:30 AM
Ok, first off, I would like to apologise for the embarassing Nsync pun I've used for the title, but it's like a yearly ritual for me. May is great for 3 reasons, Nsync puns, Star Wars puns, and my birthday!

So now we've cleared that up, I have a few questions about my upcoming trip in, you've guessed it, May!

1. Does anyone recall around what time the park was open until last May? Are we talking 8pm or more like 10pm? I'd love to know I've got more time in the parks than I did in November!

2. With it being Swing into Spring, are there special parades related to that? Or will it just be Magic? And if so, will Magic run more than once a day?

3. What other different things are there to do during Swing into Spring or is it just the decorations and that's it?

4. How busy is it expected to be from the 9th of may til the 14th? I've already asked in the appropriate thread and to no avail!

Thanks guys! :)

I'll try to answer your questions - so here goes:
1. If I recall correctly, the park opens at 10 am on weekdays (maybe 9 am weekends) but with the EMH you'll have access from 8 am onwards (if you have an annual pass (Dream or Fantasy) and/or are staying onsite;
2. Magic is only once, but there is also Minnies Spring Train (which should be renewed this year, I read somewhere) - a kind of mini-parade but that might run two or three times a day (don't remember exactly);
3. Last year also had Goofy Garden Party, a kind of performance/dance-thingy (I bet you can find something on YouTube) where some characters and performers come from different sides of the square in front of the castle and so some dancing/singing - fun thing last year was that they did the thing divided in groups, so depending on where you were watching from you saw something different. Also characters wear different outfits for Meet and Greets (spring-type stuff);
4. That is hard to tell, I have never been that early in May.

We can always forgive puns hehhe

I've never been in May however I used the DLP guide and looked back at the park hours for last year and the previous couple to that and in May the park hours were as follows:

Disneyland. Park - 10am until 10.30pm

Studios - 10am till 6pm or 7pm depending on the day and date

This won't include your EMH if you are staying on site ...

I've linked the DLP guide here for you where I pulled the information.

Hope this helps

Our first DLP visit was 1-5 May. It was busier than it was on our last visit (29.11-04.12.).

I went 2nd - 6th May a few years ago.  The weather was mild and we enjoyed the 10pm close.  We had our 4 year old with us on the last ride of It's a Small world at 10pm :-)   It wasn't busy for us but we were mid week.
