Title: Beaver Creek Tavern vs Hunters Grill
Post by: onceuponadream on September 29, 2015, 10:24:36 PM
I wonder if anyone might be able to tell me the difference between these two/which would be preferable, please? I've looked at the menus on DLP Guide but can't find any info on the buffet choices at Beaver Creek.

We're also hoping to eat there on our first night - the official website suggests it's a good idea to book but do you think we'd get away with it mid-week (16th Dec) if we didn't?

Thanks in advance :).

Haha, great replies. Indeed I've never seen Beaver Creek opened, but it's said that it is business on very busy days.  Hunter's Grill has a very nice buffet and from what I've heard Beaver Creek has the same menu. Anybody ever got the chance to eat there?

Beaver Creek (edit) used to be a table service rotisserie restaurant. Serving rotisserie chicken, meats and such.
I don't know if it still opens on busy days. But I don't think so.

It's a pity thou..

I've eaten at Hunters Grill 4 or 5 times and have never been disapointed.

Great, thanks all. Any need to book, do you think?

Hunter's Grill is buffet service, Beaver Creek is table service (ordering from a menu).

Stayed at Sequoia Lodge twice, once in April 2014, and once in June 2015. Both time the Hunter's Grill (buffet service) was open, and was probably the best buffet service restaurant we used while there. Also, both times, the Beaver Creek Tavern (table service) was shut. I got the impression from the concierge that it only ever opens at very busy times / during high season. They do use the Beaver Creek as a breakfast overflow restaurant when it is busy enough to warrant it (it was used like this during June this year, but not during our trip in April last year).

We ate at Hunters Grill last time we visited and had a good time and meal,  We booked it in the morning on the day at the hotels concierge, only ever had breakfast at Beaver Creek.

It depends what time you go, butI think it's best to make a reservation. Especially at times when everyone returns to the hotel (like after Disney Dreams) there can be queue.

When we went May 2013 we booked the Hunters grill, beaver creek was not open at all, the only reservation times we could get was 8:30pm & we had young children with us. I would definitely advise booking before you go if you want a slightly earlier slot.

Ah, yes, you have a point about the rush. We were hoping to go just after Dreams (from what I remember it's about 20 minutes, right?) so probably a good idea to book. Thanks!

We ate twice at Hunter's Grill this week, and were very happy with the food. We booked for the first evening, but not for the second. As you're going in December, I would imagine it will be busier, and you need to book.

c3po - what kinds of food do they have? Staying in Sequoia on the 12th and so might be nice to have a late meal there. I'm only asking because I don't really like seafood or meat and found Inventions quite restricting (apart from the childrens food).

They had a salad bar, soup, two kinds of terrine, sliced pork pie, cold cuts, smoked salmon, possibly some seafood (I live in Norway, so I don't eat much seafood when I travel), two kinds of fish, cheesy filled pasta, ribs, chicken, roast meat (done nicely), spinach, boiled vegetables, a kids' buffet with the usual kiddie food, a good selection of cheeses, and lots of desserts. They also do crepes and Belgian waffles with warm chocolate and candies.

I'm a bit picky, but I was happy with my meals.

Thank you! Pretty similar to Inventions - think I'll give it a go, always a bit worried about buffet food choices but if theres carbs I'll be fine  ;D
